We had shopped around for a number of design-build firms and contractors and ultimately decided to go with Lamont because we liked the portfolio of work that we saw, they had good reviews, a clean CCB history, and being design-build would help us control the budget better. A few reasons we felt our project went well and we would recommend Lamont: * They were very good project managers. There are a lot of different little pieces (design, permitting, managing contractors, timelines, etc) to manage with a remodel project and we didn't want to have to manage it ourselves. They handled all these pieces and just pulled us in for key decisions. Nikki and Matt helped immensely with the up-front estimating and design to help us create a great space with our budget in mind. * The end quality of our basement is wonderful! Caleb and Steve did an amazing job every single day to make sure each piece was done correctly and to a high quality standard. They asked our opinion on exact finishes and found ways to up the design of the space when we got down to the nitty gritty. For example, we were second guessing our trim design decision on the windows in the plan a couple days before it was set to go in. We talked with Caleb and showed him our Pinterest board of window trim treatments to get his thoughts. He was excited to see our ideas and said he could make it happen, but it would require a change order. We were prepared for the change order since it was pretty last minute, but the next day Caleb came back with a great idea that wouldn't require the change order. He realized he had enough leftover material from the laundry shelf to make sills for the windows in the same style that we wanted! You can tell he cares about his craft and making things as good as they can be. * The project finished on time to the day. We have always heard about projects running wildly over so we were very pleased that the space was ready on the day they said it would be. * We had a small plumbing issue arise about 2 months after construction completed, but we called Lamont and they resolved the issue quickly and without any hassle. Overall, we were really happy with how it turned out and were kinda sad to not have Steve and Caleb around every day after the project was done, lol.

The most reckless driving in a parking lot I've ever seen. Seriously could have killed someone. Thank god there wasn't someone trying to get across the lot at that moment as people frequently do in parking lots... the driver of this car laughed about the interaction as he walked into the 7-11. Tall, white, skinny, semi gray/black hair. Looked about 50 years old. Whoever owns this business I urge you to look into who is representing your company. As a lifetime resident of West Linn and a homeowner, I will never be looking into Lamont Bros for any work on my home due to this unfortunate experience.

After meeting so many contractors during our new home renovations, that Aaron was tip of the spear amongst contractors. The quality of the cabinets exceeded my expectations. Real wood. NO particle board, No plastic hinges or hardware. Aaron's son installed the cabinets which took about only 2.5 hours. When completed he went over the install with us. Just beautiful work! Because they were the lowest cost bidder for our garage cabinet project. And from the prem visit to discuss the project of designing and building cabinets through installation it was a six star worthy experience. Responsive. Knowledgeable. Quality product. Reasonable prices. We feel like we got MORE than we paid for. We heard about this company via word of mouth from friends who used them. So we wanted to pass that favor on via word of mouth through Yelp. My hubby has had an itch to replace some (perfectly fine from my view) metal shelving in our garage with spiffy built in cabinets. I finally gave up on my protests about better places to spend the money. Once the cabinets were installed last week, we have so much more storage in the garage, to say nothing of everything looking better that I wonder what took him so long. NW Garage Cabinet Company responded to my hubby's first phone call quickly and set up an appointment. Within a day or two a delightful guy showed up (on time for the appointment) and spent some time looking at a sketch my husband had done for what he was thinking, suggested improvements to the ideas, did a layout sketch to scale and provided an on the spot quote. A quote detailed enough that we knew what materials were going to be used and how the cabinets would be installed. And a quote that was substantially lower than the other two companies we'd contacted. We'd have thought it all "too good to be true" had it not been for our friend's similar experience with NW Garage Cabinet Company. So we signed on the dotted line and within a month, the cabinets were delivered and installed (again, right on time). The quality of the cabinets is top notch, much better materials than used by the competition that bid higher prices. NW Garage Cabinet Company uses plywood, not the cheaper and less stable particle board, top quality melamine doors, full adjustable shelving and good quality glides on drawers as well as mahogany trim frames. The floors are seamless, the collaborative process throughout lead to a final product that we are extremely happy with. His team was not the lowest price bid nor were they looking to drain my 401k, the value of the end product was very much in line with what it cost. The work the crew did was exactly what was promised, and the windows work great. I stopped by one afternoon to check on them, and the house was open. The windows were out, the holes weren't boarded up, and there was no one there. I came in, and just stood there, totally stunned. I was there for a little over 15 minutes before anyone comes out. My home is on a main road, I've had issues with packages missing off my porch, I can only imagine what might have happened if someone feeling thefty had walked by and just seen the whole side of the house open. I called, and the reaction was 'Oh, they must have just gone for lunch'. Lunch? With my home open? They even left a ladder pulled up, so someone could have just hopped in. Apparently this is just how they do business, because both the owner on the phone and the workers (when they returned from getting coffee) just shrugged like it was no big deal. Also, when the work was done (which I had to call myself to find out about, there were no updates, no progress reports, and no notification when the work was completed) I went to check it out and the back door to the basement was unlocked. So anyone could have entered the house through there at any time between the completion of the job(which again, no notification) and when I went to check on it. So down one star for leaving the house open and the door unlocked, and one for shrugging and not taking my concerns seriously. Again, the windows work fine now, but I don't appreciate them being so lackadaisical about my home being secure when they weren't present.

Falcon was working on something else at my house, later on. The electrician said he could put an outlet into the furnace so I could plug in a generator. He came back and did the work. three years later, the furnace died, (not Falcon's fault), and an electrician came out to check the work of the company replacing it. He told me the outlet was the wrong kind and would not pass an inspection. They had to fix it so it would pass when the furnace was inspected. Not so cool.

That alone cost $289 (didn't even include the smoke detector as I received a replacement from Kidde). Took 15-20 min. Turned out I had another faulty smoke detector. They offered to replace + install it for basically an additional $289. That's ridiculously expensive. Mr Electric quoted me $80/hr (+ offered that info to me without me asking). Falcon Electric did not offer me a quote but they did fit me in same day. Lesson learned.

I called all over town to anyone listed on Google looking for someone to do a relatively simple install of 2 skylights. As it turns out, it's damn near impossible to find a reliable company that is willing to sell you the skylight and complete the installation. I must've burned through 8 companies before I finally checked the Velux website for certified installers in PDX. Sure enough, Green City Skylights and Solar were one of only TWO companies on the list. I called and got Shawn, who owns the company. He responded promptly to my call, showed up to my house on time, and got me an estimate in less than 6 hours. This may not seem like much, but he was the only one of 5 companies to do all of these things right. His estimate wasn't the cheapest, but he was by far the most knowledgeable and likable of the lot. We signed with Green City 2 weeks ago and I'm already the proud owner of two freshly installed skylights. They did the work in less than a day, the crew were all good guys and obvious pros, and they didn't leave the place a total mess. I even volunteered to vacuum the schmutz that they did leave behind. If you're out looking for skylights, I feel your pain. Just do yourself a favor and make sure Green City is in the mix. They'll take everybody else to school.

They did the drywall finishing as well, which we are very happy with.
