If I could give no stars I would. I ordered a pizza with half cheese half pepperoni. A full pepperoni was delivered - anyone with kids knows this is very different! At first, I called and they said they would refund. Lovely. Then I was contacted to say that they would not refund. When I called back and asked to speak with a manager, I was first hung up on. wow, this place went drastically downhill over the last year. I'm only reviewing in terms of food, as I've never eaten there. About a year and a half ago their Putinesca pizza was one of my all-time favorite pizzas. Everything from ingredients, seasoning and right down to the spectacular gluten-free crust. my only complaint is it was a tad on the salty side. Also, on the salty side, runner up was the meat sauce pasta. Little over a year later, those two have taken a total 180. Maybe there was gigantic menu changes At fault, a new owner or someone that hated food and didn't give a crap in charge but tonight was the fourth and last chance when I had to throw away the second half of my steak and cheese pizza with a gluten-free crust because it was basically inedible. The last couple times I order the pasta. It was it was basic at best, but left me chugging cold water all night, long. So sad to see this happen, but not wasting any more money there. read more

Love the food at this place, particularly the Buffalo Chicken pizza, North End pizza, and chicken parm sub. If you are looking for warm, friendly service, this is not the place. I've been going to Vesuvius in Marblehead and Cindys in Swampscott, both owned by the same family, for years. I don't think I've ever received decent service, or heard them say a decent word about anyone. I rationalize it by telling myself it's like the old Durgin Park where the waitresses were intentionally rude, plus the pizza is great. The food here is great! I love how the menu has so many options, because not everyone is always in the mood for the same thing and there's so much to choose from. The service here is exceptionally horrible, however ! When you have to repeat yourself minimum of six times for something as simple as sauce on the side, it might be time to reconsider, who is taking the orders! The food is actually really good, but the service leaves much to be desired. Every single time I call it's like a 10 minute conversation and you have to repeat yourself at least 15 times for them to get your order right and it never fails. It's never a quick OK I want sub and a pizza it's "what did you say" and they repeat themselves 30 times. I get it pot is legal but my god if it's going to interfere with your job, maybe not smoke before you take orders. Got takeout pizza wings and salad last night for a Saturday night in. We ordered the caesar salad which is definitely different, has carrots in it but the pumpernickel croutons and caesar dressing are amazing. We also ordered honey bbq chicken wings which were good but a bit saucy. For pizza we got the tuscan with roasted red peppers, sausage, and caramelized onions. We have had this pizza before but this time it was a bit too soggy. Great crust. Overall, an okay place for takeout but previous times we have ordered from here have been better! This was my last visit to this establishment where counter is staffed by a lineup of petulant teeneagers. Some are quite competent, others not so much. How does a sub shop screw up a classic Italian? Brought my take out home to reveal a pile of bread soaked in balsamic vinegar (?!?). Whole mess was falling apart. Thankfully had my own rolls to remake this overpriced basic sub shop offering. Requests for customized sandwiches or additions are met with blank stares. You never know what you will find when you get home. Very clean, however. Ordered a turkey burger and a meatball on Focaccia. Have ordered it in the past and had no issues. The turkey burger was a premade patty which in the past was from scratch. Same size that you would get at Stop and Shop. The meatballs were great but the bread was not the same Focaccia they had used in the past. No flavor, and barely toasted. I think we found our new go to local pizza joint. Ordered a custom cheese, mushroom, eggplant & ricotta pie along with the puttanesca pie. Crust has a little more dough pouf, which I like, than some of the nonexistent flat cardboard crusts of the other joints. Made the fams night a whole lot better. read more

Phone line was constantly busy so i ordered online via the Vesuvious web site. they charged my cc but never made or delivered my order. when i called they said they didn't receive the order until i gave them the order number. Then they said they would into it....an hour and 15 minutes after i ordered and 30 minutes after my order was supposed to be delivered i got an ice cold pizza and colder wings. For fathers day my father-in-law has been getting food from here with coworkers and has enjoyed it, and wanted it for lunch. The menu has some great selections that made it difficult to choose. Me and my father-in-law ordered The Mighty Zeus, my wife ordered chicken wings, and my mother-in-law ordered the Turkey Stuffer. I accidently had a bite of hers thinking it was mine, because none of the sandwiches were labeled! I haven't seen a sub shop not put initials on sandwiches (to indicate what they are) for big orders. Most sub shops will initial the sub, even if it's just a single sub order. Now, the Turkey Stuffer was very good and I wished I had that. The Mighty Zeus was very good, with the caramelized onions and roasted peppers the garlic mayo was delicious but put on a little excessive. The onion rings and fries were good. The potato tots were unlike any I had before. They were like mashed potatoes rolled in a ball and deep fried. OMG they were delicious! As far as service, it was carry out and was ready very quickly. I wasn't kept waiting, but also didn't have any special experience (neither polite nor rude) but instead a disinterested demeanor. The order was correct and the food was good. Ordered 4 small pizzas for takeout, 2 of which were gluten free. Perfectly done, piping hot, delicious. The gluten free crust was one of the best I've had - somehow they managed to get the crisp on the bottom and still leave a little chew in the crust. We will be back for sure. read more

Very nice place here in swampscott. Wife and I ordered the mushroom Swiss burgers and they were HUUGE (in Trump voice) perfectly cooked the way we wanted. What we ordered came with chips but not that cheap greasy type chips they were crispy almost home made chips. We also got some mozzarella sticks and they were also great. Hadn't been in a while so I probably had an old menu with older prices. We ordered a small vegetarian pizza that I thought was going to be $12.90. Went to pick it up and the girl says $16.80!! If I wasn't so hungry I would have left it there. If I am going to spend more than $12.00 for a SMALL pizza I will go to Bertucci's. Because it was Sunday I couldn't order from Bella Pizza in Salem or Gallo Nero in Peabody. Both of these restaurants have a superior product at less cost. Watch out for overcharging! Dishonest cashier (receipt shows server: PM C) jacked my bill over $10 and when I questioned the total she quickly made a surprised face and undid something on the machine. I asked for the receipt and saw extra stake tips on the salad still added, even after "something" was taken off. I did not ask about any extras. So if you decide to use this food outlet WATCH OUT and always check your receipt. And NO extra stake tips were added to the salad when I received it!!! Outrageous.
