Dr. Schmoll is the most knowledgeable and compassionate doctor I have ever encountered. She made our family feel comfortable for the whole visit. The hardest visit -losing a pet. Dr. Schmoll and her assistant (I'm sorry I forgot her name) were incredible. Thank you from the bottom of our aching hearts.

I have been going to them for years, and like their doctors a lot. So does Beaux!

    Erwin being brave.

Golden was extremely kind and this was the least traumatizing euthanasia I've ever had to be a part of.

They did what they could and took bloodwork that would be in the next day, but later that same day he passed on his own, which obviously was very hard on us. When Dr Seddon called the next day with the bloodwork, he explained it was very indicative that he more than likely had a tumor on his pancreas because of how low his blood sugar was and there was no way to cure that. He also said he was quite positive that he wasn't suffering during this time at all, which meant a lot! The cremation was handled so amazingly and even included a paw print. I am not typically a fan of conventional vets, but Dr Seddon is a top-notch, compassionate, exceptional conventional vet that has always been a go between for my 3 chihuahuas when something urgent comes up and I can't make it out to the holistic vet (Healing Paws). He has worked on Nico and Roxie, my other two dogs several times for issues and been super helpful! His whole staff is top-notch and compassionate! I truly love Bowie Towne Vet and am so appreciative I have such an outstanding vet practice so close to home. I wrote all of this with tears over the loss of our sweet little boy, but also mixed with tears of joy of appreciation for having such an amazing vet location that was so supportive and helpful during this hard time.

Yes, it was on the expensive side but they were able to take multiple x-rays which they showed to me. No fractures were found and it was discovered her leg was growing turned outward. The doctor prescribed some pain meds and recommended water therapy throughout the day and soft bedding to ensure her leg was able to straighten out. Thankfully all of these suggestions worked, and just a couple weeks later she is up and running around! I'm very grateful to have found a vet in the area that treats ducks/chickens.

Vet's son accused me of "rushing them." 4 staff carried him out. Charged $445. "Terminated" next day; heartworm Rx ($65 test) withheld until I pushed. No surgery. Proof available. Proceed with caution for large/reactive dogs. On 11/2/2025, during the consult for my dog's gastropexy + neuter, the front desk overcharged me $499 and simply said it was a "credit" on my account--no offer to refund or correct it. I was instructed to arrive 11/11 between 9:00-9:30 AM to help sedate my 110 lb reactive dog for same-day surgery. Instead, they called at 8:40 AM asking where I was. I arrived at 8:50, was asked to sign an incomplete form, and waited in the car until 9:45. Sedation began at 10:00, but by 10:45 the vet said, "Can't guarantee surgery today--two emergencies and a spay from someone who drove down from PA and is staying in a hotel." By 11:05, my dog was waking up but still unable to stand. His head was moving from side to side and he was crying. I said we were done and wanted to leave. The vet's son came in saying I was "rushing them" and kept cutting me off. They removed the catheter, four people total had to carry my dog to the car, and I was charged $445. Got home at 12:30 PM--he remained wobbly and distressed until 10 PM. The next day, the clinic informed me I was "terminated" and initially declined to provide a heartworm Rx (test run 11/2, charged $65, results ready) until I followed up--then emailed it as a "one-time courtesy." Surgery never occurred. My mom witnessed everything. Receipts, emails, and video available. Summary: For owners of large or reactive dogs, this experience raised serious concerns about communication, scheduling reliability, and post-sedation care. Proceed with caution.

It's really hard to tell when your four-legged, furry friend is in need of some medical attention…read more My cat had been acting a bit off for a few days and it took me a while to catch onto the signs. I wish I would have caught it sooner for me to bypass some unneeded emotional damage. Once I finally did pick up on the signs I immediately looked for a nearby vet. But on a Sunday, there aren't many open. My choices were two emergency vets that were equal distances away. As you can see, I chose this one. On my way here, I was all in my emotions and almost bypassed the building. Luckily for me, I caught it at the last minute and whipped around. When I went in there was no hesitation about being seen. They are a digital establishment. Scan the QR code, fill in your information, and wait to be seen. I sat in the waiting room for what felt like an eternity, but we all feel that way in a time of need. Finally a vet tech came to see me and ask what was going on. I started to talk and only broke down instead. I was escorted in a room and they took my cat for a set of vitals. I was at that point where I thought she was attempting to cross that rainbow bridge. Instead, after the vitals and some talking to the vet, it was decided as to what was going on. I also want to thank them for being upfront with information. I was informed that they already know what it is and a course of treatment or I could spend a lot more money to do tests and come to the same conclusion. After a good cry I came to my senses and went with their suggested treatment. This was an emotionally exhausting day. Made a bit better by a good team at this place. My cat, upon returning home, was very lethargic because of the antibiotic and pain medication given. She was out of sorts for a bit, but back to normal within the timeframe quoted by this team.

The staff at Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty were amazing from the moment we walked in. They were extremely thorough while showing such care and concern for Duke. They explained what was happening, were transparent about the cost, and gave an honest assessment of the prognosis for our baby. Dr. S explained our options and gave us time to process everything. She answered all our questions and reassured us that there was no right or wrong way to go. Ultimately, we made the heartbreaking decision to let Duke go and she supported it, agreeing it was the kindest choice given his age, prognosis, and his current state. When I asked her what she would do for her own fur baby given the circumstances, Dr. S was transparent and told us she would do the same. That gave us a small bit of comfort that we weren't rushing into it prematurely. Dr. S gave us referrals to a few vets who could come to our home to help us with Duke's final care. We chose Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, who were equally wonderful during such a horrible time. We appreciate all of the staff at Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty, from the folks at the front desk to the nurses and doctors. There were small things that I appreciated... when they brought our baby to us, they put down a plush blanket so he could be comfortable and not laying directly on the floor. Also, right before we left, one of the nurses even came in to say goodbye to Duke and tell him he was a sweet boy. She loved on him and that small gesture will always stick with me. I thank everyone for showing such love and support during one of the most difficult times in my family's life. I would absolutely recommend Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty to anyone needing care for their fur baby.
