Avoid the Sur La Table Rustic Bread Cooking Class--Too Expensive with Very Little to Do…read more We attended the Rustic Bread course for my cousin's birthday at the White Plains store. At $90 per person, the course was ridiculously overpriced particularly since 4 of us shared the duties for making two loaves of bread. We had so little to do that one of us added salt, the other added oil, and the four of us alternated kneading one loaf at a time. I have attended other cooking classes in the past and typically, everyone gets to participate and be engaged during the class with tasks like cutting, cooking, and prepping the dishes. We have also always been given the opportunity to eat the meal we made in the process so the course is interactive, serves as a meal, and teaches new cooking/baking techniques. Unfortunately, we paid $360 for the four of us to stand around, share two small loaves of bread and some butter among the group. We did contact customer service about our concerns and while seeming attentive at first, they ultimately did nothing to address our concerns. I would advise that you look for a cooking class elsewhere that will most likely be far more affordable and hands-on with the option to enjoy the items you bake/cook in a fairer proportion where everyone is allowed, at the minimum, to make their own loaf.

Jenna is awesome…read more After completing our online prep survey, we visited Jenna's kitchen as a couple. Jenna is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and has great tips and tricks for the experienced cook and patience for those of us who struggle to use a stove knob. Her recipes are prepared beforehand based on your tastes and are really healthy, delicious, and easy to prepare. I felt like I was on a cooking show. Her kitchen is professional and well-stocked with tools. She is a great conversationalist and keeps the session moving at the right pace, based on the meals you are preparing. This was worth every penny and I highly recommend Cook Learn Live, and Jenna, specifically.

Jenna is wonderful! Working with her was such a treat!…read more My school sponsored a group of us to attend one of her cooking classes, and it was a fantastic experience. The class was not only educational, it was a lot of fun, and definitely a great reprieve from my typical Sunday afternoons spent studying in front of a computer. Jenna did a great job of overseeing the prepping and cooking of the four dishes we had on the menu for the night. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to manage a kitchen full of amateur chefs (half of whom rarely cook at home)...but somehow she managed to do it with grace! Jenna was extremely patient with and open to all of our questions as well. In particular, I thought she did a great job of incorporating the 'why' behind her answers to questions like: What ingredients do you always have on hand? How do you know which spices go well together? What goes into a vegetable stock? I really appreciated how Jenna tailored the class specifically for a group of grad students, focusing on: increasing the nutritional value of our meals, saving time in the kitchen, and all the while cutting down on costs. Three things that I know I DEFINITELY need to do more of! I walked away from the class with an arsenal of new cooking tips, a full belly (plus a few containers of leftovers), and a packet of recipes from the class. Three hours very, very well spent! Thanks for all of your cooking tips, Jenna! For anyone interested in learning how to eat healthier or to be more effective in the kitchen, I would highly, highly recommend her classes!

The parking lot is kind of a mess, though, so i wouldn't park there if you can avoid it. There are cars nit parked properly and it is easy to get hit there with the construction down the street.

One of my favorite places in Port Chester. La Placita Supermarket on Main Street has "tough to…read morefind" items. Over the years, I've found : - strawberry flavored marshmallows - peach Coke - whole Tamarind pods - a variety of herbs and peppers - including chile cascabel, digestive blend herbs, dandelion etc - tembleque - flan - both dried mix & ready made - green corn tamales - instant corn masa - chao mein - many kinds of teriyaki & jerk sauces Step inside, wait, and imagine yourself in Mexico or Peru. If you've never been here, there's a lot to take in. You'll find brands you've never seen before. And many familiar items too. Walk past the fragrant scent of fresh cilantro. Check out the large cinnamon sticks & fresh Tamarind pods. Did you know that Tamarind pulp is a natural metal polish ? Instead of using chemicals, utensils can be polished with Tamarind. I'm happy I found this market. The lines tend to be a little long, but worth the wait. The prices are good. The parking situation isn't great - you have to pay for metered spots out front. But if you are willing to walk a little, free parking is available.
