If you're ever in Baldwin Park, you have to make a pit stop at La Chilanguita! If you're craving authentic Mexico City (D.F.) food, this is your place! Everything is freshly made to order, so be patient--it's absolutely worth the wait. You can taste the care and love that goes into every dish. Some of my favorites; The huaraches are delicious, the carne en su jugo is perfect, and the mole burrito is everything you dream of when trying mole for the first time. The place is small, but that's part of its charm. The vibe feels like being home--warm, welcoming, and comforting. Aracely makes it feel even more like home with her kindness, warmth, and presence. I tried the asada, tripa, carnitas and barbacoa and all were great. I wanted to try a few so ordered the regular ones, but they also have larger tacos on homemade tortillas as well. Casa De Antonio's has Karaoke every Wednesday - Sunday, so you know the people are so kind and friendly! The service was great with the bartender being super friendly! My cousin and I also went a few other times and had tacos, sopes, and pupusas which were all tasty. We were excited to see that the place had reopened. We got there a little before 10am on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026. We parked and a man in a parked car told us that the owner had not arrived and the restaurant was closed. According to the info online, they open at 10am. A woman showed up after 10:10am and we walked to the front to be let in. The first table we sat at was dirty so we moved a couple of tables over and same thing. My aunt mentioned that the bathroom was not clean. We asked for coffee and ordered 4 bowls of menudo. The red flag that we ignored was that it did not smell like menudo, or any other food for that matter--how is it that you enter a restaurant that serves menudo on the weekends and there is no aroma of it in the air?? We had assumed that the menudo was left slow-cooking over-night, like we do it at home lol. We were served chips, salsa, beans and our coffees but waited until 10:35am to be served menudo and it was terrible!! We are not the type of people to make a scene (we should have spoken up since we were the only patrons), and we ate the menudo begrudgingly. It didn't look or taste just made, I'm sure it was old---my three family members said it tasted like canned and old menudo. Trust when I say that that is not the same menudo we had two times before!! We all asked for 'pata' and we all got pezunas!! THEY WERE NOT PATAS! WTH??!! I wish I would have taken a picture of all four bowls. My aunt asked for a glass of water, and the waiter told her that they only had bottled water. Uhm, I've NEVER been to a restaurant that has said that--they ask if we want filtered tap water or bottled water. Most restaurants will bring you ice water with lemon if you ask but not here, here you need to buy the water. How do you not have filtered water? You are a restaurant and I'm sure you use water in some of your dishes. Are you using bottled water? Second red flag: No other customers came to the restaurant while we were there--we left about 11:40ish so it was nearing lunchtime. Needless to say, we will not be going back and it's disappointing because I'm a big advocate of supporting small businesses, especially mom and pop owned. I don't know what the other food tastes like but if the menudo is an indication, I definitely won't be back to try other platillos. To the owners, please bring back the freshness, sazon and flavor you once had and it would be nice if the restaurant opened earlier on the weekend. Most people like to eat menudo early in the morning lol.

Since it's very close to me ..: I called and placed a nacho asada order and clearly mention that I did not want GUAC on the nachos . They double verified when they repeated the order. Great! ..... Got home my daughter was excited to eat her food after school . Found GUAC ON THE NACHOS !!!! Gave them call and asked them politely if they can be a bit more careful with the orders . They said sure . Everything good . Then bam!!!!! Daughter found her first hair in mix . I inspected the nachos and found a second hair hanging from the wax paper with grease .. overall bad experience . Hairs are on the shorter side . Possible male suspect !!!!! The sauce wasn't hot, good flavor, the scrambled eggs were good, but my chips were soggy. NOT crispy or crunchy. NOT a fan!! The beans were from a can, so can't say authentic Mexican.. My guys Huevos Rancheros, he said his eggs were good, but soggy chip too. They kept the door open, you know what that means flies.. All in all, I give it a 3 1/2 for good effort. Next was chefs special: it was made to order. He added breaded shrimp and crab with peel shrimp and sauce on top. Really great combination. The grilled octopus was delicious! We tried it as a taco as well and it was an interesting treat. The inside was so nice, felt very inviting and I think Bonaza was on the TV. Ordered a Carne Asada Burrito with super spicy sauce. Service was great very friendly and was ready to hook me up with some spice. The food was wonderful - the tortilla perfect, it was soft but cooked. Beans fresh and Carne had a great spice to it.
