I finally tried this place and unfortunately I was disappointed. When I went in, the servers were all in the Kitchen. Then a server came out and seated us. We ordered after 10 minutes. I was very hungry and thought having tacos and ceviche and shrimp cocktail should be something quick. But the order took more than 20 mins to come out and I had to follow up with them. There were only 3 tables at the time and each table is just with one or two customers. There two servers total, but it seems the person who ordered for me also went to cook. I am not sure if this is one time situation where the Chef is not working that day? Because it honestly took too long to bring the food out when it's not busy at all. The most disappointing part is that after all this waiting, the tacos were toooo salty. We ordered grilled fish and grilled shrimp tacos. There were these blacks stuff sticking to the fish and shrimp, it's those black stuff that you get from burnt pan. The shrimp cocktail and ceviche was okay. Nothing amazing but I just wondered why couldn't they bring these two dish out first because it should be something already premade?? I would not come back after this experience. But I would suspect the management more the employees working there because I think they need more training. I also wonder if it's a substitute Chef or a new Chef was working that day?? This is our local, and favorite, Mexican seafood restaurant. They're family owned/operated. The food and service are always consistently great, and we've been coming here for years. They have a smaller dining room, as well as patio seating in front. It's very popular, so you may have a wait, but it's definitely worth it. The seafood is always fresh. We love the oysters on the half-shell, the Mexican style shrimp cocktails, the Aguachile, and the fried seafood plates. They also offer a Children's section on their menu. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality. We love to support our local small businesses, and we'll be faithful customers as long as we live here. I highly recommend! read more

I've gone twice and not going there ever again. First time I came with my fiancé and the tacos were just ok. The batter from the tacos tasted old and burnt like they don't clean it. The second time I went the food was gross. Tacos tasted burnt and inside the tacos were raw. I got grossed out and exchanged for a salad instead. Salad you could tell the vegetables were not washed visibly and it tasted nasty. We also has a shrimp cocktail and they claim to make their own cocktail juice and it literally tasted like dirty water. Worst place ever. When we arrived everything looked very nice, when we got to the register, girl was too busy drinking her drink, which we didn't mind. Food was out quickly, but when it arrived it was wrong, so we nicely told the girl it was incorrect. Another woman worker coming out at the time heard and gave a dirty look. Didn't think much of it, we just wanted our food and understand people make mistakes. Once again the food came out and it was incorrect. I did ask for a refund on my shrimp taco that came out as fish and the older lady was super rude about it asking why I was returning it, btw I'm allergic to fish. So I had to return it. I came to this place mainly because of the rating, rarely around this part of town, but was in the mode for seafood. In short, I had a couple of tacos (shrimp and fish) and shrimp with octopus cocktail. The fish taco I have to say was over fried and tasteless. Aside from the cabbage they put in the taco, the cream they use is also tasteless. NO FLAVOR! The shrimp taco had a little flavor but nothing they add to the taco helped the taco. Lacked flavor. The cocktail also was a disappointment. Very few shrimp and few pieces of octopus. The cocktail juice was a little tangy, not spicy, but seemed too watered down and lacked a little thickness and veggies as in most Mexican shrimp cocktails. If there was a 1 to 10 scale I would rate the fish taco a 3, the shrimp taco a 5 and the cocktail a 5 as well. The service was not that great either. The waitress was friendly but then to get any service or questions had to get up and practically yell to the kitchen for some attention. Really good spot for Mariscos. On this trip, they were out of oysters and the 3 tacos dorados didn't do it for me, but the mixed cocktail and the garlic grilled fish were spot on. Cocktail was fresh and had great flavors. Not all cucumber and caldo. The fish filet was cooked well and had a tomato garlic sauce that was amazing. The tacos dorados had a lot of shrimp, but i think there was cheese mixed in that didn't mix well for me. Would have been better without the cheese for me. The chipotle dressing they serve with it was bomb though. I'm old school, you don't mix cheese and seafood :) The other thing I would suggest is a second salsa option. This is my go to ceviche spot in West Covina. It never disappoints and they have great customer service. However, today I ordered 1 fish and 1 shrimp ceviche to go. The fish ceviche was good but I ate mostly onion that I had to scoop out of each bite which was upsetting. I was hoping the shrimp was better but lo and behold, no wonder they fill up the cup almost to the top to give the appearance that it's shrimp but it's mostly onion and tomato. It grossed me out and also had to scoop it all out and I was left with a few shrimps at the bottom of the cup. I paid $10 for mostly chopped onion and tomato.
