Took myself on a solo birthday dinner here earlier this summer and still think about this meal and establishment. I got a pasta from the starters menu and it was 10/10 but I didn't realize it would be so big! I didn't have room for the swordfish steak immediately but it was also so yum the cheesecake and wine were of course amazing! Can't wait to come back. My server was very sweet and helpful and made sure I was enjoying my time there. The space was clean and laid back, and it wasn't crowded. Exquisite. 10/10 birthday dinner
What a wonderful surprise. I was told this would be a special place but did not think every single dish would be delicious! We had a late (for us) reservation and couldn't wait to eat. Waitress said we should order 2 plates per person and share all dishes. We were given a warm bread roll with fluffy butter to start us off (additional rolls were $2 each). I wanted a cocktail but none on the menu appealed to me as I wanted something sweet-ish and fruity. Waitress suggested a passion fruit mojito, right on the money! All of the dishes we ordered were delicious but the crowd favorite was the pork belly with ginger fried rice. I could not taste the ginger but the fried rice was wonderful and I can't fully explain how heavenly the pork belly was...it was so tender with a perfectly crispy skin. The crudo was one of the top favorites, the prawns had a smoky flavor, the gnocchi was tasty. Basically we loved all of it. The restaurant is pretty much a square space with a wall separating the front (bar area) with the back. The decor feels sparse with some modern art decor, white marble (?) tables. Although it was loud, it didn't feel noisy, does that make sense? Definitely a don't miss while in Puerto Rico kind of place!
Came here for my birthday celebration with a group of friends. They gave us a private room and it was perfect. The service was excellent, our waitress was so nice! The cocktails were delicious and amazing. All the food was INCREDIBLE everything was so tasty. The krudo, fried chicken and lamb dishes were our favorites but everything was so flavorful and fresh. A great experience and meal. One thing - one person was a vegetarian, she definitely had a more difficult time feeling full. But for non-vegetarians, it was 10/10!
I wish there was a tasting menu to taste more dishes. Between two people, we managed two appetizers or small dishes plus one main (which was the size of two small dishes). Everything was great. The sweet plantain agnolotti was probably my favorite followed by the pork belly. The snapper carpaccio is a bit like a ceviche and much bigger than I expected. Solid service and table and they texted table was ready about ten minutes before my reservation.
I am always amused when restaurants have very simple names that sound much fancier in their native language. Vianda just means food or meals in Spanish but that is the biggest understatement because what they serve is so much more than just food. They are amazing masterpieces!! I saw the chef here was a James Beard semi finalist in multiple categories, which makes me wonder what the food at the winners must be like because we all loved the food here. It is hard to pick favorites but standouts were the grouper in coconut arepa, Kamph's crudo, and especially the pork belly with fried rice! It is not that the other dishes were bad, these dishes were just unbelievably delicious! The fried chicken dish was so good but ask for sauce on side because the couple we came here with struggled with the heat. The ambiance is a little basic but who cares when the food is this good!
My friends and I enjoyed the whole experience. We got the recommendation from Resy. I ordered pork belly with rice. Oh my, it melts in your mouth. No need to chew. lol. The dessert -- tres leches another reason love this place. The place was classy, clean and gave me a dinner date vibe. Dress up a little bit to have the full experience. We were on on shouts and sneakers. lol. The staff, were pleasant , accommodating, and very professional. The manager even went around and asked for how we were and our experience. Price range mid to high. A must try.
Fantastic farm-to-table cuisine! Must-visit in San Juan! After being announced as a James Beard Semi-Finalist, my friends and I sprinted to get a res at Vianda. We were lucky to snag three seats at their bar. The interior is very elevated and trendy! The bartenders were super friendly and service was excellent! We tried a variety of their vegetarian dishes, but standouts were the Corn Sorrulos, Beets, and Cauliflower Croquettes! Can't wait to come back and try more bites!
Visited Vianda for dinner while on vacation. I came across this restaurant by googling top restaurants nearby Condado beach. Driving up to the restaurant, you will notice it's not in the best area. A lot of the buildings across the street looked vacant and had graffiti on them. There were some sketchy characters across the street and one homeless individual pressed his face against the glass of the restaurant nearby where folks were dining. I wouldn't advise walking here at night - definitely uber and they have a parking lot next door if you're driving. It seems to be attached to an older office building - the bathrooms were down a shared hallway. The inside of the restaurant is very nice though. The décor is more minimalistic. The tables had a good amount of space in between them so you don't feel like you are sitting on top of someone while you are dining. We were seated for our reservation right away and they brought us complimentary champagne since they knew it was our anniversary. Since my husband was very hungover that day, we didn't get to order as many dishes as we would have if he hadn't been. Everything we did try though was delicious. We had to ask a lot of questions about the dishes to really understand what they were since we didn't know what a lot of the ingredients were or how the preparation would be. Our waitress was very helpful in making recommendations. We tried the Corn sorullos, the pumpkin, and the fried chicken and it was all very good. For the chicken, we did the habanero sauce on the side per our waitress's suggestion given how spicy it is. I'm glad we did! I really enjoyed our dinner and I am bummed we didn't get to try more. I would definitely recommend Vianda for a nicer dinner meal.
FOOD: Portions are quite small, and sometimes the creativity comes at the expense of taste, e.g., the green cucumber salad. The cake was delicious but served too frozen. SERVICE: Our server was fantastic, perceptive, attentive, and very nice. She even comped the green salad and was knowledgeable about plaint-based alternatives on the menu. The alcapurria appetizer was an elevated (and tiny) version of a classic PR fritter. It tasted familiar but left you wanting more--it could be a lot bigger for the price. AMBIANCE: Perfect for a date or family night with its intimately lit setting, open concept, and minimalist yet still homelike decor.
Dinner at Vianda was an amazing experience. Every dish was so creative, thoughtful, and most importantly delicious. My partner and I enjoyed a vast selection of the April 2026 menu items. 6 small plates was plenty for us to split. We started with two rolls with some butter that was brought to the table before our appetizers. They were warm and fluffy but average. Next we had the grouper bites which came on little arepa bread. Probably not a "must-get" but a nice warm introduction. Next was the kampachi- the fish was really great but the sauce was a little thicker/heavier than expected. Then came the grilled prawns. This was our favorite dish! The prawns were large & well cooked. Sauce was extremely savory with great crab and butter flavor. The fried chicken was our second favorite dish. Chicken was juicy, crispy, and well seasoned. The sauce was SPICY. Sweet and savory with an Asian twist with the addition of nuoc cham. We then had the morcilla crepes which were good but not something I'd get again. They were fine- soft, & meaty- not much to say. Lastly, we finished off our meal with a sweet plantain bolognese. The chocolate was so interesting and actually worked really well with the meat sauce. The agnolotti was filled with plantain! This unique dish was the perfect cap to the meal. We also tried a couple cocktails which were super creative as well. The sashamama which was made with sour milk punch was very good! The el cardenalito was a little too sweet. The a tomates si huele was a little too savory. Overall, the experience at Vianda was unique and special. Highly recommend!
Due to some water issues in Old San Juan my fiancée and I pivoted to a last-minute reservation at Vianda and we were so glad that things worked out this way. Vianda is located on a relatively calm and quiet street in San Juan and features a delicious, tapas-focused menu. We were recommended to order at least four items for the table, but given the size of some of the plates you can easily make that 5-6 for two. We started off with drinks and I tried one of their more unique ones, the "En Las Nubes" which is their take on an espresso martini featuring clarified coconut espresso. I was a bit apprehensive that the coconut flavor would be overwhelming but was pleasantly surprised that it tasted near identical to a normal one, except completely clear! Our favorite dish was the tostada which features a beautiful blend of aioli and mussels atop their homemade sourdough. The eggplant was just 'OK' in comparison (not to say it was bad) and was a bit interesting with its more Asian-inspired coconut curry sauce. Overall, service was friendly and attentive and the food was excellent - both in taste and presentation. If you're in San Juan I'd recommend giving this place a try!
The hype is real. My friend and I both agreed this is easily in the top 5 restaurants we've EVER dined at--truly unforgettable! We had zero complaints. The decor is minimal and tasteful, our waitress was outstanding (looked like Drew Barrymore), the drinks were strong and delicious, and the food was inventive and downright addictive. We went with everything our waitress recommended, and she did not miss. Here's what we ordered for two people: Crudo de Mero, Repollo al Carbón, Pesca del Día (we even ordered extra bread to soak up every drop of the sauce), and the Bomba Alaska for dessert. This is a spot I'll return to every time I'm in San Juan. We even asked if we could meet the chef--though our waitress just laughed, so I'm not sure if she thought we were joking. Chef's kiss. Can't wait to come back someday!
Vianda in Puerto Rican Spanish is a reference to local starchy root vegetables, such as yuca, batata, yautia and others. Ran by the ex Sous Chef of The Modern in NYC, Vianda is a beautiful place where Chef Guzman and his wife take guests on an intriguing journey of Puerto Rican ingredients and complex re-imaginations of classics. Things like pig's head in a seaweed "crepe" are incredible. The vegetable focused options are plentiful throughout the menu, with cabbage in egg sauce and walnut sofrito being one of the most remarkable things that a human could possibly create from such a simple vegetable. Crispy barquillitas with carrot a great starter or break between courses. Heirloom tomatoes with local green bean seem simple in concept, yet have an incredible level of taste complexity. Swordfish is wonderfully prepared and very delicate for a fish that isn't known for being particularly delicate. The team here is truly amazing creating a feeling of visiting their home as opposed to a restaurant. Attentive and kind throughout, the service element is top notch. The wine list is also not to be missed, with bottles priced at 1.5 to 2 times retail, presenting a great value in today's world of crazy surcharges. The restaurant is casual in nature, yet the food, presentation and service are not, thus eliminating any layers of pretentiousness and unapologetically focusing on what matters: creativity, flavors and local ingredients.

Vianda was our "splurge" meal of the trip, and it absolutely felt like it. The atmosphere is calm, quiet, and classy, so I'd suggest business casual or smart casual attire. If you're staying in Condado, I'd probably just grab an Uber rather than make the walk. The service was exceptional from start to finish, and reservations are definitely recommended. This was honestly one of the calmest, most relaxing restaurant experiences I've had in a very long time. Because of that, I probably wouldn't bring kids unless they're exceptionally well behaved. It's just not that kind of restaurant, and I'd hate to be the one disrupting the atmosphere everyone else came to enjoy. The clarified espresso martini was as visually intriguing (it's completely clear) as it was delicious and smooth. The fried chicken and pork belly were both outstanding, and I'd happily order either one again. Overall, if you're looking to splurge on one memorable meal in San Juan, Vianda would be high on my list. read more
We were very excited to try Vianda and made reservations well before our trip. What an outstanding meal. The concept is farm to table and the menu changes monthly. My husband and I shared the following dishes off the April 2026 menu and every bite was delicious: - Cauliflower croquettes & pecorino - Pumpkin, tamarind, cubanelle peppers, pumpkin seed crema - Asian eggplant, coconut curry, pepper-banana conserva - Pork belly, ginger fried rice, coconut, basil (without peanuts) - Vanilla flan & orange caramel We specifically wanted a more vegetable forward meal after having several meat heavy dishes the few days before. We also have several allergy and dietary restrictions and they were extremely accommodating without making it feel like a big deal. Every dish was full of flavor and complexity. The pumpkin was a standout for me. And the pork belly was some of the crispiest I've tried. I also really enjoyed the wine. The restaurant itself is modern, intimidate yet spacious, and everyone we interacted with was extremely kind and welcoming. Even the chef was a delight to chat with toward the end of our meal. I wanted to get out for at least one pretty nice meal during our PR trip and I saw the chef for Vianda had multiple Beard nominations and decided to make reservations. I went in really hungover so I didn't eat as much as normal but it was still a really neat experience and the prices weren't too bad either (high but not bad for a Beard nominated chef). My fiance had the lemonade and had them add gin and she said it was really good. To eat, we had the croquetas, sopa de setas, the repollo al carbon, and the bomba alaska for desert. The croquetas were good but the sopa de setas and the repollo (apparently, its cabbage lmao, with my bad translation, I was thinking chicken) were both really good with the flavor in the sopa being my favorite of the savory portion. The bomba alaska was really good: popcorn ice cream with some carmelized banana that had some of the best banana flavor I've ever had in a dessert. It took us a while to figure out what to order and our server was very on top of it but still very patient with us. Overall, a great experience and exactly as I was hoping for. read more
Had such a lovely dinner at Vianda. The ceviche was fresh with and bright. The mushroom soup was one of the best things I had. Very umami and great depth of flavor. The salmon was tender and flaky and was served with a creamy coconut Thai-flavored curry and sweet potato puree. Steak was perfectly cooked. The chocolate dessert was so good that we ordered a second one. Vianda is one of the best restaurants we tried during our time in San Juan. The decor is beautiful and classy, service is wonderful and the food is absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Highly recommend checking it out. read more

This place was amazing! we had a reservation and were seated within 5 minutes. our waitress was so sweet and even gave us free champagne for our anniversary. we realized their menu switched often so we weren't able to order what we originally wanted but everything was absolutely delicious. the food came out one by one and each was better than the next. definitely a must try if you're looking for fine dining in PR. read more

This place was very modern and simplistic. At first it gave me a little flashback of Mario Pagan and I was scared as I did not like the experience and emptiness of the ambiance of Mario pagan. Vianda was much better. Service was great but felt a little rush even though we had 2 hours before all reservations were taken we felt a little pushed. Vianda is an amazing restaurant. Food is great and service is attentive. We have carrots bites as appetizer. The presentation and flavor are bith top notch. Then comes the tasty prawns and fried chicken with papaya salad. These two dishes are wonderful and memorable. I think the best one is the pork belly with rice. It has the visual and taste bud impact that would make me to come back again when in Puerto Rico. read more
Hands down, Vianda is the culinary arts dining experience of San Juan. I was blown away from the moment I sat down until I closed my check. Although a bit rushed as they had to fulfill drink orders from all the diners, Ivan and his colleague provided one of the best service I received at a bar. Ivan even made a point to tell me how his colleague was the genius that created my cocktail, la peña. As my photo of the cocktail shows, Ivan's colleague froze couple jalapeño pieces into square ice cubes as well as the chili bitters, and he explained how the taste of each ingredient comes into your pallet as you slowly sip the cocktail. Effing brilliant to be honest to add his twist to a traditional old fashioned. For my app, I ordered their croquetas de morcilla. The photo does not do justice of how flavorful it is. Also really liked their complimentary sweet potato bread served with butter. But it was my main entree, pesca del dia (fish of the day) that really blew me away. WOW! Starting with friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff who provided exceptional descriptions of each dish on the highly creative menu, our first experience dining at Viada was extraordinary. With a 2022 James Beards award winning chef, Vianda fires on all cylinders. We enjoyed several generously sized, beautifully prepared "small dishes" - see accompanying photos. Fluke crudo, snook ceviche with passion fruit purée, zucchini flowers, smoked beets with marinated carrots were outstanding as was my filet of snapper accompanied by sweet potato mash. We shared a dessert of quarantine sorbet served between two pistachio macarons. Vianda was recognized in the 2022 James Beard Semifinalst Awards! This is a top notch restaurant and everything here excels. As soon as we sat down we were greeted by our server, who was super helpful and provided great recs from the menu. Our meal started with one of the best breads I've ever had at a restaurant. They look like simple rolls, but don't be fooled - they're flaky, buttery, and soft. Everything we ordered was fantastic, but my personal favorites were the Batatas Bravas, Bacalao, and Otoño. The octopus in the Batatas Bravas was the most tender octopus I've ever had - I almost didn't believe it was octopus because of how tender it was! The Bacalao has amazing flavor - the coconut broth is soooo good. To top off an amazing meal, el Otoño was a super unique dessert. The presentation was so cute! Highly, highly recommend this place if you're looking for a nice place to eat. NOTE: Parking can a pain - you can either pay $10 in a lot right next to the restaurant or you can try and find street parking. Restaurant has modern vibe, business casual, can come as a non formal date or with group of friends or coworkers. Every one was pleasant, one of the hostesses nicely looked for a different table as requested. Service is 5/5. They took care of the smallest details, drinks and food, changed plates and utensils with every new plate/tapas being served to keep up with the experience and of course not to mix flavors of different dishes Croquet as de morcilla: one of the best croquettes I have had in Puerto Rico, elegantly designed and flavor is 5/5 Remolacha Y pera: the salad speaks for itself self was colorful with variety of seeds beets and pears. Definition of summer salad. My only complain is that the sauce was bit bitter. Batatas bravas con pulpo: I am loving the puerto rican combination of sweet potatoes withe the food. Plate is rich in flavor and the sweat potato flavor makes the food dan Bacalao: wooow it was so good. The plate speaks for itself self. It was full of flavor and the sweetness of the coconut broth added so much flavor to the cod in addition to the rice and the spices. Wow what an experience. I went to San Juan over the weekend and was looking for a nice place to celebrate my birthday. I have to say this restaurant is top tier. They have both small and large plate options with a variety of vegetarian and seafood options. My friends and I chose bar seating which was nice cause are waiter was able to answer any questions we had. I tried the Batatas Brava con pulpo. It's a sweet potato dish with aioli sauce sautéed octopus and tomato puree. The food was amazing. The grilled octopus was nice and tender and the sweet potato mixed with sauces really brought a creamy flavor. I would definitely recommend but reservations are needed to get a good seat. read more

Beautiful restaurant. The bar is a great centerpiece and I love all the plant decor. We came for our anniversary dinner and had a reservation at 6. It was fairly empty then. The staff was very attentive and we very kind with the baby- they stopped by to pick up dropped toys, replace a napkin and asked where we wanted our food set so it was out of reach of the baby. The cocktails were great! Balanced, fun and beautiful- loved the retro glasses. We got the ceviche appetizer and then the cod and swordfish. The food portions are on the smaller side so glad we got the appetizer. All the fish were cooked well and fresh. The ceviche had a great flavor- loved the sauce. The mash that came with the swordfish was really good too! Would come back again for a nice dinner! read more

My husband found Vianda in a web search praising 2024 James Beard semifinalist chef Francis Guzman of Vianda. We made reservations 2 months out (book in advance!!) and were so glad we did. The food is outstanding!! Well-prepared, local and seasonal ingredients in a tapas style format. Plenty of vegetarian options. The ambiance is sophisticated and comfortable with space between tables. Well stocked bar with plenty of options. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. So glad we were able to visit this amazing restaurant! We'll be back! read more

We came for a birthday celebration and we were super excited to give this place a try. We were able to get a table last minute which was really nice. The bread was amazing delicious and warm with butter. We got some Prosecco to start. Their menu is quite limited for options. We tried their signature beet salad with quinoa and a light cream sauce and their burrata on toast both were good. For entree we had pork belly as it was highly recommended they kindly split it for us. When it came to dessert we made a request to write a happy birthday message for the birthday girl but we were met with some resistance that ultimately left a sour taste in our mouth after the dinner. I wasnt there when this happened but my friends told me they could have handled the situation better. They were apparently rude and not trying to be accommodating, it left our bday girl in a bad mood and that is definitely not good! It would have been nice if the kitchen did something special for the celebration but they didn't want to. It was a surprise and ultimately threw us off. From the beautiful atmosphere and attentive staff to the most out of this world dishes I can't express enough how amazing this Gem of a restaurant is in PR! Upon arrival and reading the menu I thought I wasn't going to enjoy this place and let me tell you every single dish I tried blew my mind! The menu is really fancy and I was here on vacation for a bachelorette party for the weekend so I was thinking we were going to get some authentic Puerto Rican dishes and this place was definitely not typical PR cuisine but I honestly can't wait to visit again and come back here, that's how Impressed I was by these tasty dishes. We had a private room with very attentive staff! They brought us out to start some bread on the house with salted butter and let me tell you I have never tasted bread and butter that was so phenomenal! The steak dish we ordered was seasoned perfectly and the gnocchi dish was mouth watering! Love this unique place in the heart of Puerto Rico and so looking forward to visiting again and trying some other amazing dishes! Very good. Unfortunately, missed the mark in a few areas for the prices. My first complaint is that the menu is very confusing. Go online and you'll find an a la carte menu and a tasting menu. Okay, simple enough. Where it gets complicated is that there is ZERO overlap between the two menus, meaning none of the dishes appear on both. In my experience, a tasting menu is meant to be a "best of". So why are none of these "best of" dishes appearing on the regular menu? I asked the waitress if they could be ordered a la carte and she said yes. I asked whether to order the pork belly (regular menu) or the mushroom risotto (tasting menu) and she recommended the pork belly. Why tf would you not put your best dish on the tasting?? I just don't understand it. There's also no wine pairing to go with the tasting (as far as I could tell) which seems like a mistake. With that said, the food was really good! I'm glad I ordered the pork belly per the server's recommendation as it was a unique, flavorful, and filling dish. The pork belly was cooked perfectly, the coconut curry delicious, and the rice spot on. I also ordered the raíces locales as my appetizer, which was good but at $14, a huge disappointment. It was beets. And as a terrible cook that makes beets often, I can say that they are extremely forgiving. Roast, boil, lose track of time...your beets are going to taste almost exactly identical. And that's exactly what this was. Beets. A chef with more tact or finesse would have given them yogurt, cream, something to balance the earthy flavor, but there was nothing here. Vianda was the best meal of our trip to PR. Francis Guzmán and Amelia Dill's experience at Blue Hill and the Modern has definitely translated, and the James Beard noms are certainly warranted. Service is also excellent! My boyfriend and I tried: + Hibiscus daiquiri + Cupiña cocktail + Romero apasionado + Tomate heirloom and name de Mina + Pastelillo de pescado (mahi mahi empanada, wow) + Ditalini pasta with braised short rib - they were able to do a half portion which is appreciated + Clam and shrimp toast + Tropical baked Alaska My favorite cocktail was the cupiña, and the standout dishes were the romero apasionado and heirloom tomatoes.
