We made our way to FRB to try the beers and eat lunch .. beers were great - we got 2 different IPA's and then ordered the soft pretzel- the pretzel came out timely and was very good- it was more dense than chewy -I prefer the latter-also the mustard and cheese sauce were satisfying. After about 20 minutes we ordered sandwiches- the "red Rueben" and the " Philly" cheesesteak - the Reuben was actually one of the best that I've had- tender corned beef, red cabbage and sauerkraut, Swiss and thousand island dressing on pumpernickel or a very dark marble rye! I was concerned about the "cabbages" overpowering the sandwich but not at all! Hubby's cheesesteak was not philly but he said it was very good- plus they use Amoroso's rolls which are a philly staple! We lived and worked in the philly area for 13 yrs-- so we know a good Philly cheesesteak! Sat at the bar and our bartender was great! She was very attentive and friendly! Only downfall is the wait - it takes soooooo long to get food... if you are chilling and drinking beer it's no biggie but I watched people around us who were ordering their food and getting it after a long wait. Seems like their brewing operation has 2 sides almost, and they're both well-executed. They have a lot of creative stuff and STELLAR german-styles. Like the esoteric stuff, too. Never had a kottbusser until I showed up here. Get a flight, get some snacks, and chill out. Good people, all around. I am visiting from another state and stopped at this brewery. I have visited many across the country and this by far was the best. The quality of the beer was amazing, particularly the Tenfold double IPA. I had the SOBO cheeseburger and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered it medium rare which most establishments do not get right. This one did - the meat was high quality and cooked exactly as I had ordered. The service was exceptional. The staff was friendly, professional, attentive, and happy to give recommendations. They also have live music on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The band that was playing the night I was there was great. Be sure to try this place. I guarantee you will be very happy. read more

Fabulous experience. Venue now allows vaccinated patrons to enter sans masks. Nice outdoor and indoor seating. Great bbq. Wife had strawberry spinach salad with grilled chicken. Front Royal Brewery is a super cool place. A few beers are an utter surprise. Hipster Mistress, Canoe Capital & Munich Lager, WOW. Personal favorite, Milk Coffee Stout. As vegetarians, they offered a beyond hoagie, hummus and pretzels. With a bit of luck, you'll see fresh mushroom croquettes appear too. 10/10 for a top notch place! read more

Front Royal isn't exactly a cute town, but the main street has some cool businesses, the one included. This restaurant and bar has a large space, offers live music some nights, and has friendly staff members. There is also an outdoor patio if you want to eat outside (although you're looking out onto a parking lot). I'm not a beer drinker, but my boyfriend really enjoyed their hefeweizen. And I thought the sweet potato fries were delicious. A fun place for sure! read more

So we were beyond EXCITED to go to FRB. The reviews were stellar, the beers, the food...all of the above. Understanding that COCID has changed things a bit, we went in knowing it wouldn't be the same but still had hope. But it didn't go too well. We sat outside, it was sunny and hot - and they sat us at a FULL SUN table while everyone else seemed to be sitting in the shade. Not a great start but you deal with it right? Well then the beers come out. Not exactly cold. So there's that. Server was great - friendly, attentive and mostly came out just at the right times! Give her a plus for that. My sandwich was BOMB. Got the Reuben with the sauce on the side. Just perfect. Grilled marbled rye pumpernickel bread OMG. With delicious corn beef and scrumptious braised cabbage/sauerkraut!! Dressed it myself and it was amaaaazing. And I ordered the fries extra crispy and for once in my life they came extra crispy! THANK YOU! Also, fries are often under salted...these were perfectly seasoned. My fiancé's meal however was an absolute mess. He described it as a "soup sandwich". The buffalo chicken hoagie. Untoasted roll aka raw shitty bread... overdressed, unseasoned chicken and some things on top. Fell apart the minute he picked it up. Had to eat it with a fork and knife. I so badly wanted him to politely share with the staff that it was not up to standard but he refused. God bless his heart....and in general we aren't ones to complain.... but I would have sent this this back to the kitchen in less than a heartbeat. Needless to say, wasn't impressed and won't be back based on that experience. Not even close to being worth the $70 for 2 sandwiches and 4 beers. Disappointed for sure. read more

Had dinner here for the third time last night. They just added an excellent tempeh Rueben to their menu! I'm not vegan but I do seek out vegan options when available. Awesome sandwich! I do hope that FRB keeps this one (or other vegan options) on the menu. My wife had the spinach salad which was also superb. Their giant pretzel is also recommended. Now, onto the beer...absolutely fantastic!! We had just returned from vacationing in the Wilmington, NC region and had sampled beers at several breweries. Some were great, others...not so much. The beers at FRB are all spectacular! My favorites are the Knight of the Valley porter, Siren of the Shenandoah hefe and the Tenfold DIPA. I recommend that if you are in the area or just passing through, even if you don't have time for dinner, stop in for a few beers. You won't be disappointed. Great atmosphere with the roll up garage doors making eating indoors almost like outdoor. Plenty of outdoor seating too. The white chicken chili was tasty. The fried pickles had a hint of cinnamon or something and were nicely spicy. Great selection of beers on tap. My only improvement would be that they update the board with what's currently available. We've been here twice now and both time we've had great servers, friendly, efficient, and helpful. Today I had the scallop special, scallops over creamed spinach with roasted red pepper polenta. I stopped in for lunch yesterday, but mostly for the beer. It had been a while since my last visit. What a change. The award-winning beers you can still find on their website were NOT found being served. Maybe it's temporary, but to serve four different IPAs, a Hefeweizen and a Helles (which wasn't available for my visit), was sorely disappointing. I forgot to mention a sour that was on tap, but I always skip those...sorry. My choice was their session IPA, which I found thin and not very IPA-like (less flavorful and hoppy than most pale ales). So I switched to "Mile 0" - much better! Service was 5-star!! Thanks Zachary!!! And the food was as I remembered -also excellent. Unfortunately, I consider it a brewery first and foremost. So this visit was disappointing. I didn't give it a one-star rating since I can't say the overall visit was "not good;" however, it most certainly could have been much better. 4.5 stars really - took half a star off for generic drab outdoor seating - though it is comfortable and well-kept. Also. don't be confused by the long, dark hallway when you first walk through the doors - true bliss in both the food and hopped variety await at the end of that hall. My wife, son (10 months old), and I grabbed lunch on a Friday afternoon. The place had decent business when we walked in, but one of the bartenders took time to acknowledge us, come over and talk to us about seating options, and to get us seated (we chose to sit in the 'beer garden', which could use some more to go with it - both outdoor seating options are fine, just a bit drab). Overall, a stellar experience and welcome member to the Fro. Ro. food and beer scene. Service - After that, a drink order was taken promptly and the beers arrived within a few minutes of ordering them. I tried the Canoe Cap IPA and the Milk Stout - both were tasty (more on the beers later). Our waiter, who ended up being the bartender when we first arrived, Thomas, was very attentive, checked in regularly, and was polite and knowledgeable about the beer and food. I noticed another waiter in the area being equally as attentive and remember - they had a good amount of business at the time. Thomas continued to check in on us regularly and my glass was never empty for long. Food - I got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich - it was delicious, but lacking on the hot. More tangy with a very light hot afterburn (about on par with Frank's Red Hot for heat level). My wife ordered a burger, which she really enjoyed and even though she ordered it "not pink" it was still juicy and tasty. Fries are the only side option to my knowledge. They are delicious - though maybe a touch salty. Beer - My wife had The Paddler, which I sipped a bit. It's a hefeweizen with lemonade worked in; so, essentially a Lemon Shandy. It was cool, refreshing, and had good mouthfeel. Not overly carbonated as some can be and you definitely tasted the Hef. through the Lemon, which was nice. I had the Canoe Capital IPA. It was light and refreshing, but didn't really have the hoppy punch that I expect when I see "IPA". It is listed a session, but I've had plenty of hoppy sessions. Don't get me wrong - it is a good beer and I will be drinking it again, just without the aggressive hop expectations. I had and loved Boyd's Garage Milk Stout. I actually enjoyed it so much that I got a growler fill on it before I left. It has that slight bittertang that you expect with a milk stout, but drinks exceptionally smooth. It is a coffee forward flavor profile, but far from exclusively coffee. A good sipper. Overall - everything was great. Super pleased to have them in the area and I look forward to supporting them with my business for years to come. read more

Stopped by this town for the Shenandoah National Park. This local brewery has a friendly staff and great beers. The selection is great and offers a wide variety of types of beers.
