They do not use too much rice and the combination of flavors in their special rolls is just so good! Also the three rolls for 11 dollars combo cannot be beat. Well, I just found my new sushi place. When you find this place in the strip mall, you will walk into a small and spartan looking restaurant. But the sushi and service are excellent. The rolls we ordered tonight were fantastic. The fish was extremely fresh and the rolls were done beautifully. They have a 3 non-specialty rolls for $10.95. When I see a price like that, I am usually very skeptical at the quality I will receive. However, the rolls were excellent. We also ordered a rainbow roll and their "Tiger" roll. Both were also terrific. Further, the presentation was artistic and beautiful. My son ordered the shrimp teriyaki and he thoroughly enjoyed it. His order came with a plentiful supply of shrimp and the teriyaki sauce was flavorful. I will be bringing some co-workers here for lunch and I know they will love it. Blink and you may miss this little sushi restaurant tucked away in a strip mall. Friday night is hoppin and come early for a table. Sushi was fresh and there were several creative items on the menu that I have never seen anywhere else. The sushi pizza and tuna bombs (or tuna dumplings) are definitely unique and a must try. Ordered the fresh oyster special and they were my favorite. Also went out on a limb and tried the army roll. Oh my GOODNESS. I thought I had tried the best sushi in my small area, but I was so wrong. Thank you friends for introducing me to Vic's! I've heard of it for while, but didn't understand the hype until I visited. My two friends and I came on a Wednesday at 1:30PM and were seated immediately (we were the only ones there). I was surprised to see basically no one in the small restaurant and really was not expecting much. There was a lunch special that was 3 rolls for $10 which I was very happy about. I ordered a spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, and a mango avocado roll. The kind waitress brought us miso soup to start with and brought out our sushi dishes a short time after that. The sushi itself was amazing. Unlike other sushi restaurants, they gave a substantial amount of fish compared to rice which is what we technically pay for! I could tell the ingredients were fresh. Its as if we all have found what feels like a secret. I have NEVER had a bad meal here. (Pre & post covid apocalypse) The food is so fresh and tasty! The food: The "Flacco" roll has been and will be my fave The "Lisa" roll is also very good and, as a matter of fact, any other roll I have tried has been nothing less than 4 stars The "toro" sashimi was excellent in texture, quality and size The seaweed salad is 3 star The dressing on the vegetable salad is quite tasty The service: If eating in, service is OK, it's there, it takes your order and delivers your food. If you have wine with you, nice enough glassware is provided but don't expect a cooler bucket for your white. The problem I have with eating in is there is no atmosphere, you might as well be eating at a McDonalds. The take-out path runs right through the dining area (maybe 6 or so tables). Starbucks has more ambiance. If taking out, your order is always ready when you arrive and you are in and out in seconds. I had heard and read a lot of good things about Vic Sushi, so I decided to go try it for myself. When I walked into the restaurant I was surprised about it's size -- it's pretty small. They do a good job of fitting in the maximum number of tables without it feeling cramped. They also have a small sushi bar with a few additional seats. With that said, it's bright and colorful. We ordered green salad with the sesame dressing. I love that dressing and found Vic's to be superior. It was a much deeper orange than some places and it had a lot of great flavors. Our server also brought us complimentary edamame, which was a nice touch. We got a little overzealous when it came to ordering our sushi rolls (we like sashimi, but primarily order rolls) so the few that I'm mentioning here don't cover it totally, but our favorites were Ocean Brother, Sansom, and a special that day, avocado mango. While the last one lacked any fish, it was a great flavor combo and as our server recommended it, it's nice to know it was solid advice. Vic and his wife La apparently had a place down in Philly for three years or so, and recently moved to this location (though that place is still open with someone else behind the counter). Critics might (and did- see below) wonder if we really need another sushi place in the area, but this one has quickly earned a spot on my top tier. First trip, I had shumai, my wife had tom yum soup, and we each had the three roll special (hers actually fish, mine shrimp tempura and avocado) (24pc/$10.95). Everything was great, except that after trying her soup, I wished I had gotten another for myself- that is some good stuff. :-). Second time around, we both had tom yum soup, the wife went with the three roll special again, and I decided to try a Thai dish (La is from Laos). I was initially going for the Lad Na, but our server called La over and she steered me to the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) w/ shrimp. Again, everything was very good. We also ordered gyoza, but they somehow got lost in the shuffle (we weren't billed for them). Next time... The decor is simple, overall space is a bit cramped and noisy (though the tables are good-sized), and the service can be spotty at the end of the night. Also, Vic seems to be the only person making the rolls, so it could be a bit of a wait if they are busy. However, the tasty food, casually friendly owners/staff, and good value push it to five stars (actually 4.5, if I could - this is my first published review, but trust I don't give stars up easily). Wow, I was blown away with how good Vic Sushi is when I visited yesterday. I think it rivals the best places I've been to for sushi in Philadelphia--Zama, Umai Umai, etc. The fish is super fresh (not SuperFresh), and the cuts of fish you get in the rolls is very generous. We came in on the late end of a Friday night for a friend's birthday and were seated right away. The decor is spartan, and there are only a handful of tables. But the sushi they turn out here is top tier. We started with the spicy tuna pizza as an appetizer: just awesome. And beautiful. They really take presentation seriously here. From there we ordered the 60-piece sushi party platter and a few additional rolls, including the iRoll (awesome name) and of course (given the occasion) the Birthday Roll. The Birthday Roll was just humungous. I seriously think you could eat just that and be full. The iRoll was super creative (as are lots of their rolls), and included fresh pineapple and coconut jam! My wife doesn't eat seafood, so she got the avocado mango roll, and on the advice of another yelp review, added cream cheese to it--it was awesome. She also tried the chicken tempura roll (also good), and an amazing special called the beef negiyaki, which is like a sushi roll, except it's thinly sliced beef used as the wrapper around some scallions. It's hard to describe, but it was unique and one of the best things we tried. The wait staff here is very pleasant and kept our water glasses full. Vic is BYOB, so they also opened up the bottles of wine we brought and provided proper glassware. We really enjoyed chatting with them and they made the experience even better. I found this place on Yelp maybe a year ago and told a friend of mine, who is also a local sushi fan, that we need to check this place out. Well we finally went last night. Wow this place has some good food! My standard sushi involves seaweed salad, and three maki selections based on my mood. The seaweed salad was right on, just as good as my favorite sushi place (which won't be named in this review). I then had the volcano roll, spicy tuna roll, and the Ocean Brother roll. The volcano roll was so nice and tasty and soft; it hit the spot really well. And the spicy tuna was good too; not quite spicy, but that's what wasabi is for, right? :-) I wasn't entirely fond of the Ocean Brother roll, but it had more of a seafood taste than I liked, so please take note of my bias; you may love this roll for yourself. The only downside to this place is it's awfully small, so you may find it hard to get seating during typical dining hours. We had to wait for 30 min for a party of five. But then again they do a lot of takeout food, so that can make for a good alternative. Check this place out.... the positive reviews of this place have been right on. read more

This was a really nice little place. I went with my brother and gent for dinner. They opted for Thai, and I went for the sushi. The only real reason I'm giving it three stars is my boyfriend and brother were almost done their meals before I finally got my Sushi tray. I understand good rolls are hard to make, but it just seemed a bit long, and I had to eat them fast because my dining companions were already finished. Eating them fast was hardly a problem, however. They were delicious. The Miso was perfect, and the atmosphere was indie and clean. Good food, comfy, small digs (probably seating about 30 people at bursting). They're obviously not a Sushi-come-lately- place as the chef was very well schooled, and all the dishes looked just lovely on their way out. Perfect for a lunch date, or an intimate dinner. There's nothing better than finding an A+ sushi joint just minutes from where you live, and Vic is that. Really excellent and fresh sushi, and lots of creative rolls beautifully constructed by the friendly chefs. I had a Thai curry dish the first time I came here, and it was fine, but I've since learned to come for the sushi -- the 3-(basic)rolls-for-$10 deal is a steal (I typically get the spicy tuna, Eel roll, shrimp tempura roll, etc. -- all excellent), but the larger, more elaborate rolls (e.g. Green Dragon) are well worth the very reasonable prices. Service is excellent. The place is low-key, unfancy but very clean and simple, a bit on the smaller side so getting a table can be tough after 5pm. And one crucial note: If you're ordering takeout (as we have once), it's imperative you call well ahead of time because it'll probably take more than an hour, maybe 90 minutes on a Friday or Saturday. It's a busy place due to the quality of the food. If you just show up and place your order you're going to be waiting a LONG time. So glad we discovered Vic for our sushi fix! read more

Just moved to Maple Glen. Dying for good sushi. We found Vic's. Micro small place with spartan surroundings. But the staff is what provides the character. Vic and his brother-in-law are the chef's. Watching them work during the peak Friday night rush hour was amazing. They are so in sync with each other. The rest of the family...who also are the staff...are jamming at every beat. Now for the food. The only marginal piece of sushi I had was tako. I'm guessing this far inland it is had to get. Not to worry, the salmon, hamachi, and spicy tuna rolls rock the house. Ask for extra spicy. Vic is used to delivery to the local tasty buds, ie. bland. The rolls are really nice. The Tiger Roll was a nice combination. Everything is fresh and relatively fast. Oh, yeah. The have Thai food too. BYOB. Vic's does a tremendous take-out business, so keep that in mind. Bottom line...We'll be back! read more

Lunch! Sashimi special for $9.95! This is a nice place for a quick lunch. I was unimpressed with the size of the sashimi lunch. I substituted scallop and cooked shrimp for the tuna and salmon, and got 1 scallop, 2 shrimp (cooked not amaebi), and 2 pieces of yellowtail. For $10. There are at least 3 other sushi places in the area with bigger sashimi lunch plates that cost less per piece. The tea was nice, $2 for a pot of green tea. The ginger dressing for the salad was really tasty too, minced ginger, sesame oil, it tasted like someone put some thought into the recipe and made it in-house. Don't know if I'd go back, but it was a nice spot for lunch and the hostess didn't mind me bringing my laptop in to get some work done. (They have WiFi) read more

I had just moved into the area not too long ago and never heard about this place. My wife was actually doing some searching around and came across Vic Sushi. We decided to give it a shot. I will admit when we pulled into the parking lot and I realized it was a strip mall sushi place I was thinking "Oh boy we're in trouble." Don't let this fool you! We walk in and it's a cozy place. However, we we're attended to right away. This place is BYOB without a cork fee! We ordered the vegetable gyoza, Lisa Roll, Ocean Brother Roll, and the Spicy House Special Noodles. Everything was awesome! The portion sizes are huge! You'll definitely get the most bang for your buck. My family used to own a sushi place in AZ and this place does not disappoint. As a fellow Asian, I am very proud to say that they actually give you real steel chopsticks when you dine in and not the typical bamboo disposals! That alone deserves the 5th star! If you have not yet tried their tuna dumplings, go do it now! Its a bit pricey at 5$ a piece but its one of those things that you have to try at least once. One of the best sushi I've had in a long time! Volcano, Sansom, and Vic roll were all amazing. The salmon and tuna sashimi I ordered were very fresh. Great and friendly services. I think a 4.5 rating is a little overboard for Vic Sushi. I prefer Cho Cho San in Montgomeryville any day (especially their Rock & Roll and Spicy Lobster!). Don't get me wrong, Vic is a decent sushi spot with a variety on their menu. I ordered the $10.95 three roll lunch special (Shrimp Tempura, Boston, and Futomaki). The rolls were okay but I was hoping for more flavor. They were also very small- two pieces would be the size of a regular sushi roll, but it was filling enough for lunch. I also ordered a specialty roll (Dancing Ebi) that tasted much better and was a normal sized roll which I expected for $13.95. This place is in crappy strip mall in a semi-industrial area but for some reason, they have best sushi I've had in the area (including Philadelphia). Better than Blue Fin in East Norriton, better than Morimoto and Fat Salmon in Philly (Washington Square). It's fresh and the salmon literally melts on your tongue. I've been a few times and it was great each time. And for under $15 for lunch , it's a pretty good deal too. I lived in NYC for a couple years and ate tons of sushi there. When I moved back here, most sushi tasted like soy and protein. This place lights up the taste buds like Gary Busey on a Tuesday night. If you don't believe me, try it yourself.
