First time visitor and I'll be back. We ate outside (front of the restaurant) because it's dog friendly. Great service (thanks Danielle), outstanding fresh pastas (best penne and vodka sauce ever, with bits of pancetta in there too). Wines by the glass are very nice, I had a Cabernet that was delicious. I noticed this restaurant after visiting a nearby business. I thought I would give it a try. The staff member who took my order was very friendly and pleasant- this was a definite plus. My husband and I ordered what was said to be a New York style pizza. Unfortunately, it turned out not to be much better than a store bought pizza. My husband clearly knew it was not a NY style pizza because he is from NY, and considers himself an expert in NY pizzas. He was very disappointed, and was appalled they would even label it NY style pizza! He was also surprised at the price of a large, when we have purchased an XL 18 inch pizza for the same price. In addition, the list of available toppings did not include green peppers, which was highly unusual. The calamari we ordered was decent, but some pieces were a little tough. Needless to say, we would not recommend this restaurant to anyone else. A huge disappointment! read more

THERE WAS A HAIR IN MY FOOD!!! I called and told them and said I was on my way back up there to return the food. THE ENTIRE UNEATEN PLATE!!! Was told I could've put the hair in there which makes no sense! People do that inside the restaurant to avoid paying. The meal was already paid for in its entirety. They offered to replace it.....why so I could find a toe nail in my cheese???? When I said no I don't want a replacement and I wanted the corporate number or someone above her (the manager) I was told there was no one else. So I threatened to call the police and make a report to take them to small claims court. Now all of a sudden there's a number for me to call. The GM Jeremian was a total idiot as well. This is by far the best Italian-American food experience in Durham or Chapel Hill. Reminds me of the classic family-owned spots in NY and NJ. Pizza and pasta dishes are all really good. Highly recommend the grandma margherita pizza and the eggplant parmigiana. Prices are reasonable and the service is always great here. It's also a nice place to sit - indoors or out. read more

My wife and I had a chance to have dinner here several times while we were in the area prior to Thanksgiving. This place is wonderful. The overall ambiance is casual and comfortable. We tried the meatballs, ossabucco ravioli, salmon positano, Cinelli's Famous Grandma Margherita flatbread pizza, chicken francais, and calamari. It's rare to be able to say this, but all were excellent. The pasta is homemade and the care taken in the back of the house is obvious. I can't wait to try some of the other things on the comprehensive menu! The front of the house is also a treat. Service was attentive and engaged. The bartender was friendly and skilled. He not only mixed great drinks, but made informed recommendations on the wine. We'll be back next time we're in town! read more

We've been waiting for this restaurant to open, and then we just kept forgetting to go. While we still haven't been inside the establishment we ordered take away last weekend. Oh my gosh!!! Now, we didn't eat directly so we did have to reheat our meals (that's on us!) but the meal was fantastic!!! I had the pasta fagioli soup and gnocchi and it was perfect. I couldn't eat the gnocchi, I was too full from the soup, so I had a bite and the rest went in the fridge. I reheated it the next day for dinner and split it with the husband. I have to say, it was still so tasty. My husband doesn't stray much from foods he likes and he had the lasagna. He said it was delicious!! We will definitely return. Inside this time!!! read more

The best chicken parm in the triangle. For years, I have gone from Durham to Chapel Hill to get a good chicken parm. After going through 200 results on yelp, I found Vici and decided to give it a shot. Better food, shorter drive, and easier parking. As a Duke fan, I'm happy to avoid Chapel Hill from now on. The lasagna was very good; could tell that the pasta was fresh/homemade. The veal was delicious. Would've been five stars if the veal wasn't "swimming" in the wine/butter sauce. Excellent Eggplant Parm dish- super filling and flavorful. Non greasy- huge points for that. Carbonara was good not but great. Burrata was not as creamy as anticipated. My 1 star off comes from waiting to get our drinks after we finished our appetizer and not being offered any water as we wait. Could also improve the old fashioned which arrived in the smallest possible glass we have ever seen. We ordered a cocktail, not a shot. My wife and I decided to have lunch at Vici's on a Thursday afternoon and found that we were the only patrons at the restaurant at that time. Our server was very good and attentive. I ordered Lemon Chicken Francaise and my wife order Chicken Picatta. Both dishes were very good and we will return to Vici's. read more
