I found this great little spot on a recommendation from one of my customers .What fantastic Spanish food , and dealing with the owner who is behind the counter at all times is a plus. By the second time in there I was being called by my first name which made my visits enjoyable, because It feels like I'm home . The pernil is juicy and full of flavor , the rice and gandules are tasty , and the empanada's are off the hook. I love the Shrimp and Crab empanadas as well as the beef and potato , and chorizo. I had a party of 50 people and bought a few trays of food that were a smash with my guests , and the platters of mini empanada disappeared like lightning. You must have the desayuno - scrambled eggs with veggies, refried beans, platanos maduro, crema, queso duro, homemade tortillas and avocado - to die for! I've sampled quite a few items from the steam table but always come back for the pernil. The empanadas cannot be beat and there's like 30 kinds. I never had a pupusa until Vicky suggested I give them a try. They are delicious whether you get the bean and cheese or the meat and cheese varieties. For $1.50 each, you cant go wrong! They also have a good selection of sauces and a really deep (nearly 40) empanda menu. I've had the pork taco, steak taco, rice and beans and a chorizo and potato empanda. I usually read these reviews with a "grain of salt" attitude, and I am glad that I do otherwise I would miss out on some great hidden eateries.
