My first visit during Balloon Fiesta was with a group of 8 adults and 2 children. The #2 Huevos Rancheros with hash browns were the best I've ever had! The "Country Fried Steak" sandwich was chicken so a wee bit confusing but gigantic. The youngest child finish 100% of her French toast with scrambled. First off we sat at the best outdoor patio! lots of space and it was a beautiful day! Service was prompt and our server was very attentive and on top of it all. I had the Athenian omelet, spinach, tomatoes, feta and Kalamata olives. Soooo good! Our table also ordered the Fantastic Pecan French Toast and Pecan Pancakes. Both were absolutely fabulous!! Was told a 30 minute wait for a party of 11 and that we needed the full party in order to be seated, which was fine and understandable. The wait ended up being an hour and about 10 minutes, during which time, multiple parties were seated before us (some without their full party) Upon being told that we had a table ready, again we were asked if we had our full party. Right after they seated a party of 6 with only 2 present. It wasn't the fact that we waited 1 hour and some change, but rather the fact that we had to be the ones the say something. Once we sat, we had a good waitress (Brenda) and the food was good, it made me rethink the write up for this review. This restaurant had great family atmosphere with friendly staff right was you enter the establishment. If you're looking for large portions of amazing food, this is one place you have got o try! Hubby had Country Fried Steak and boy he wasn't disappointed it was very tender went well with the potatoes he usually indicates if the potatoes were a little on the dry side but he said it was very tasty. The French toast was also great and to my liking. Our server never stopped with coffee as well she was pleasant and attentive. I am always looking forward to suggestions from local businesses. We ordered the Big daddy chicken fried steak and Chili Rellenos and eggs. $26. If there is one place you should go when you visit New Mexico - this is the place. My wife thought she would go small and just get a Chili Rellenos and eggs. I thought I'd get the usual Big daddy chicken fried steak and take half of it home for another full meal later in the day. However, the joke was on her because the Rellenos were bigger than the big daddy. Partly because the Big daddy chicken fried steak was not as big as usual... ..normally, it's bigger than the giant plate it's served on. 15 Oct 2024 1st time visitor at Vic's Daily Cafe (VDC). Not hard to locate this business while driving. Greeted & Seated immediately by Super Attentive, Courteous Staff. Mouth-watering Comfort Foods seem to be their specialty at VDC & their Menu is loaded! Service is "thumbs-up" and prices are pocket-friendly. Ohh.. ask about their U.S. military discount for even MORE savings! My Order of Hamburger Steak w/ Hash Brown Potatoes, Scrambled Eggs, Sourdough Toast & Lemon Mint Tea was a gr8 'day-starter'! Check their Hours of Operation to get there b4 the RUSH! Closing time is around 2:30PM! Our visit ended about 11:30AM and a line of customers had already formed at the door. There's, also, a nice outside dining area in front of the restaurant not far from the entrance. It's always a great sign when you have to wait 10-15 minutes to be seated for breakfast. And there is plenty of seating both inside and out. I had the #1 breakfast burrito and it was excellent. Ask for the Veracruz#3 breakfast to get this monster..complete with hash browns, Beans, tortillas or toast and over flowing with a mouth watering Christmas Chile combo and melted cheese. Fast service even when packed. Waited 20 minutes showing up at 1015 for two so not bad. Server was great and got us our water and coffee quick. Took out orders quick as well. Only waited 15 minutes after placing orders. The portions are huge and prices well worth what you get. My crispy pork tenderloin was delicious. I tried my wife's CFS also and it was amazing. Tender and juicy, flavorful. The beans are fantastic also, melt in your mouth creamy. The red and green chili has a nice kick to it we both enjoyed. Wife got tortillas and I got dry sourdough as bread options. Perfect for mopping up the tasty chili sauce. Be sure to nab a dessert of choice from the chalkboard to try or talk with you. I stopped in on a Sunday morning to grab a bite as I've always heard good things. Their reputation is well deserved! The restaurant was full but we only waited 5 minutes for my party of 2 to be seated. Our waitress was super attentive and the coffee was hot. This place was on point from the moment we walked in. We ordered our food and received it in 10 minutes. Now for the the good part. Here's what I had: Chicken friend steak and eggs with green Chile- boy oh boy was this good! Vic's Cafe was the perfect brunch spot to take the whole family, but with a bit of a wait! We had a party of 9 and waited about 30 min outside with many other parties. Once we got called, we made haste bc they could move onto the next party. The restaurant looked packed and very busy. We were thankful our server was prompt with coffee all around. Most of us knew what we wanted bc they are previous patrons. Most of us ordered the infamous Vic's Chicken Fried Steak. It's a huge plate with melted cheese, choice of red or green chili, starch, and eggs. I got red chili bc it's spicier, hash browns, over easy eggs, and a side of their special French Toast with lemon curd and fruit. Everything came out in a timely manner, hot and ready. The chicken steak was tender, still had crisp despite drenched in cheese and gravy, and flavorful. The French toast was also really yummy, sweet and tangy. It was a lot of food, so I took them home and ate it the next day. I popped them in the air fryer and surprisingly still tasty. My daughter had a side of fruit and a Belgian Waffle. She loved them! Man, these days the odds are you're going to have to wait to get seated. And, while I pretty much never go anywhere that requires me to wait to be seated, Vic's Daily Cafe is solid enough that I go . . . and I wait. And so do my friends. Which says something. You'll find great service in a Greek-owned diner in a business park, decorated kinda as you'd expect. Not too cramped, but almost always crowded and bustling with the clatter of plates and hustling staff. The outside patio (installed during COVID) is remarkably pleasant when it's open (which, being that this is NM, is a lot more than you'd think) - fresh air and beautiful views of the Sandias, raised away from the parking and separated from the street by a good distance. But that's not why you're here! Vic's Daily will provide you with solidly good food served fast, and lots of it. So much food - I'm a big eater (which might be why I increasingly resemble a manatee), and some of these dishes are almost too much for me. Reasonable pricing. On the food front, Vic (a personable gent who's often on-site - not as often as in the past but sheesh, he's earned a little break now and then after building up this vibrant business) says he uses five different breadings to complement the various fried dishes. I can tell you that the Vaqueros (the largest chicken-fried steak I know of in town - sometimes a little overbattered, though - over two eggs, beans, hash browns and smothered in chile and cheese with a side of fruit, toast, tortilla or biscuit - it's a HEFTY meal) is probably the most popular item with my friends. I like it and get it often, but the breaded pork tenderloins Vic does (both as a sandwich and as a platter with eggs, etc.) appeal to the Hoosier in me . . . for the BPT fans, I'd note these aren't the manhole-cover sized things you might hope, but the amount of flavor in the breading and the meat makes them worth trying. The green chile is better than the red (which is made from powder), but they're both fine if not something you'd think of as a specialty of the joint. Great staff, uniformly. Friendly, eager to please, lightning-quick and on-it. Prices have gone up (a lot) over the past five years, but that's true everywhere. I'll say this: Vic's keeps the prices at a reasonable level - and, if you doubt that, please explain the crowds of people here every day, waiting to be seated. read more

The staff is usually respectful however, when we checked in with a party of 5 the hostess was visibly annoyed and told me it was an hour wait. The food is almost always amazing, when you've been open so long there's bound to be a couple hit or misses every now and then but that being said there is a reason they've been open as long as they have and are usually packed full. Great service from the staff and they're very helpful and attentive. It's a little small which is unfortunate but in all honesty I wouldn't change anything about this place. No matter what you're looking for on their menu I promise you it will very tasty! read more

It needs to be said that Albuquerque has a very strong breakfast game. It also needs to be said that Vic's is best of the bunch. I've been to Vic's numerous times and each time it has been absolutely delicious. The portion sizes are huge so come ready to eat. I've loved everything I've tried on the menu and will keep exploring. This is one of the spots I bring people when they come to town to visit. I strongly recommend swing by for a bite to eat. I've been coming here for years and didn't write a review. Shame on me. The place opened up while I was away at college, but I didn't eat there until about eight years later in 2006 when I worked near by. I remember the breakfast burritos were a good size with excellent contents like spicy, flavorful chile and well prepared potatoes. Over the next few years I would come in with large parties on the weekends mostly and on occasion a work meal. The service was always good despite how busy they were. I'm glad to see they survived the pandemic. EVERYTHING on the menu is great. I mean don't get the gyro meat I'd you don't eat lamb, but everything is well prepared and cooked. This place is a culinary gem that is locally family owned. As I understand the family is Greek and New Mexican. My personal favorite is the Valquero which is a New Mexican chicken fried steak.
