The food is almost always amazing, when you've been open so long there's bound to be a couple hit or misses every now and then but that being said there is a reason they've been open as long as they have and are usually packed full. Great service from the staff and they're very helpful and attentive. It's a little small which is unfortunate but in all honesty I wouldn't change anything about this place. The kind of simple, authentic breakfast/lunch diner I just love. Person that seats you has coffee pot in hand, and the servers have been here forever and call you hun . All the traditional breakfast favorites, including biscuits!!! Tons of omelets and a build your own program. Hubby and I were craving a patty melt so Vic's is close and heard great things about their food. Tuesday is a busy day from business patrons to families so had to wait a few minutes to get seated, ok. We were sat by the brooms and dustpans, a distant smell of cleaning chemicals but we weren't the only ones near this area. We heard the portions were huge so decided to share the patty melt and salad. We clearly ordered ranch but got a raspberry vinaigrette, sounds are not even close to be mistaken. The food was ok, regular slices of rye bread but enough for the both of us. We never got checked on nor were we asked if we'd like anything else, but we did so as our waitress tries to escape, I said "wait, wait, wait", then proceeded to ask about dessert. Maybe because we only ordered one plate to share, she assumed we wouldn't want anything else, idk, but common practice I would think for a waitress is to ask. And because she dropped off our check so quickly and not getting checked on, we assumed we pay up front...not! The cinnamon bun we took to go was good and she did give us a tip to heating it up! But if you have time, enjoy yourself! The service is really friendly and efficient. They work hard here, but they try to be personal with you. Refills come, food is brought, and they are friendly. And the food! I enjoy chicken fried steak on occasion, so I tried the breakfast steak with two eggs over medium with green chili and crispy hash browns. Folks, every element was a hit. The chili is delicious, with just a hint of bite. The eggs were perfectly cooked and added wonderful richness to the Chicken fried steak. The hash browns were, indeed, crispy. The only regret I have about this place is that I did not try before today. The wait was about 35min on a busy Sunday but worth it. Our waitress was super busy but Never let us be out of drinks. I have the pork loin which was very tasty but I bit too much seasoning. A specific herb but not sure which one. But otherwise amazing! My kids asked where my favorite restaurant is so they could take me there today and hands down my choice was Vic's! I've been here many times and for good reason, the food is awesome, the prices are awesome, the portions are awesome. It's a little far from home and we usually have to wait about a half hour to get in but it's worth every minute! Top Line: Hit up Vic's Daily as part of a group of about 30 seniors out to lunch. First things first. Very special mention of Kim, our waitress, who from start to finish provided exemplary service!! Her friendly & professional hustle, coupled with a demeanor of obvious concern for the diners, was textbook customer service. She was super conscientious about getting us drinks, requested items, getting orders in & food out, and getting the mob of us checked out efficiently. She's a rock star of waitressing!! Food portions were gigantic and really tasty. I flew with the New Mexico meatloaf with mashed potatoes, beans, cheese, all dressed with green chile & a sprinkling of chopped tomato & lettuce. It was a big ol' slab o' well spiced burger aside a healthy scoop o' cheese drenched mashed taters, with plenty of tender beans (that had a delightful bite & kick of heat) claiming the rest of the 12" serving platter. I ate my fill & brought home plenty enough leftovers to make another meal. Vic's is noted for their chicken fried steak, which several of our party ordered. The slab of breaded & fried meat draped their platters from edge to edge! Super. Mondo. Portion!! Definitely enough to share. So Vic's Daily is a solid five star recommend from me. Had to stop and try this restaurant when passing through Albuquerque on a recommended from a person in Las Vegas who was raised in Albuquerque. I stopped by Sunday about noon just as the morning crowd was clearinf so I go seated in about 10 minutes. Server was friendly and attentive. Menu had a variety of breakfast and lunch items. I was tempted with getting French toast but went with the Big Daddy Chicken Fried Steak that was highly recommended. This steak was huge and covered the entire plate. Don't be fooled the mashed potatoes, vegetables and toast were under it. Definitely, enough for 2 average eaters. I got the gravy and red/green chill on side so I could try different combinations. Came here on a Saturday morning and it was very busy. Had about an hour wait. That's when you know it's bound to be good though!! There's quite a bit of space inside. Large menu choices. Got the huevos con chorizo. It came out in a big mush on a plate, like a Mexican kitchen sink haha. It sat on some tortillas. Then you also get a side bread of some sort. It tasted really good, the chorizo was super tasty. But the green chili gave me the poops. Lol I will say I'm not from around here and not used to the green chili so that's why lol. The food and service were both outstanding. The biggest problem with the menu was finding entrees that wouldn't require a to go box! Prices are very reasonable and many of the entrees are huge. I had the pastrami and my father had the corned beef hash and eggs. Both were delicious. The dining area is spartan and seats quite a few guests. The parking lot was nearly full when we arrived at well after 1 pm on a weekday and we took that as a good sign. It definitely was. Yes the portions are RE-DONK-U-LOUS. The food here is 3 yelp stars (Ok). The BF and I shared the chicken fried steak and we still had left overs. This place was definitely worth a try, but we were a little disappointed that we caught them on an off day (per my friend). The giant chicken fried steak was good, but really salty. It reminds me of simple, diner type food. Nothing super duper special, but really more like comfort food I guess you can say. Staff and service here was great and they followed all covid procedures. Prices - good but the portions are pretty big - lots of folks leave with to go containers 4. Cleanliness - good / no complaints 5. Menu - pretty darn huge for a place that is open for just breakfast/lunch 6. The food: Well this is where the 3 stars come in. My fellow breakfast diners all got big plates with tons of food and chili toppings. They all said they were happy with the flavor, temperature, etc. MY PLATE WAS A STANDARD TRADITIONAL EGGS AND BACON. MY HASH BROWNS WERE UNDERCOOKED AND COLD, MY EGGS HAD THE SMALLEST YOLKS I'VE EVER SEEN, AND THEY WERE OVERCOOKED AND COLD. THE BACON WAS NICELY CRISP BUT COLD. I Don't send food back to the kitchen cause I don't want my plate nuked - I don't eat microwaved food... So I ate my meal and was happy everyone else was happy. So it's the biscuits and gravy for me and the breakfast portion of chicken fried steak. Biscuits and gravy arrives - 2 biscuits cut in half and covered by gravy. The CFS is another story - there's enough to feed 2! It pretty much covers the plate. Hash browns and eggs are hidden by the steak, which is covered in cream gravy. The steak is hand breaded on site and you can taste the difference. There's a reason why this is our favorite breakfast place: great food and large portion sizes.
