Don't bother. I dont understand why this place is popular because I enjoyed nothing about this place. My dissatisfaction came in three parts. Firstly, it took 45 minutes to bring out a pizza and a calzone. It was not crowded when we ordered either. Second, the calzone was piping hot, obviously straight out of the oven, and with no sauce in it. My wife has spent 5 minutes discussing which sauce she wanted as she was looking for the vegan option, so for them to forget it was pretty disappointing. Also, the dipping sauce they give you (not the same sauce) is cold. Nobody wants to dip hot fresh dough in cold sauce! The pizza was even worse. The whole wheat dough was cardboard. If you're going to offer alternative options, they need to be good, not just check the "vegan" block. The sauce was so thinly spread onto the dough I could barely taste it and there was about one pepperoni per slice. On top of that it must have been out of the oven for 30 minutes. It was barely above room temperature. Lastly, the service was terrible. They have built in tipping in your check when you order so you never know what you're going to get. A 2 bite check would have gone a long way duribg my visit, but that never happened. Then when I asked for a to go box, I waited another 5 minutes until I just asked another employee and she gave me one immediately. I was glad they offered beer but I didn't have any so I'll reserve judgement on that front. Overall this place is popular because its local. Period. read more

Oh, but wait, three...vegan pizza's and a pepperoni and nothing else in the oven. Personal preference, vegan, not my scene. Large selection of beer on tap, small glass's. Service was helpful and moved people through. Pizza; mediocre crust, had a slice topped with sliced with sweet potato, spinach, peanut. Hmmmm, sauce, didn't come through. Pepperoni, what there was of it, not much flavor. Folks with allergies beware. I have come to this location multiple times and service has consistently worsened over time. Most of all they are not good at following allergy orders. I understand being short staffed and working in a pandemic, but when someone calls to tell you that the delivery you received has a major allergen on it (when you requested in two different places it be removed and you received the substitute!) and the response is, "sorry thats door dashes problem," is unacceptable. Used to be The Asterisk Cheese Library" in the '80's (which I miss to this day because it was a hub for hippie community especially on Sunday mornings) but now offers THE BEST pizza I have had in town. La Gitana is the only other place that comes close! Why? The crust is perfect and they offer a variety of toppings for a variety of palates from vegan to standard meat toppings. Prices are reasonable. I miss the community gathering, the odd bookshelf and truly rustic, dark atmosphere of its predecessor, The Astrerisk, but times they are a changing and this is slick and bright like most other places. Go to the other location, this one has been terribly managed for years. I have been coming here since they opened, when Vic actually made pizzas, and they have had periods of greatness, but it seems those days are gone. I called at 7:15pm on New Years' Eve. I ordered my favorite pizza, what I term the 'Smokin' Hot Rita', which is their 'Lovely Rita' with double smoked mozzarella instead of regular mozzarella (Smokin'), and jalapenos (Hot). I was advised that it would take an hour (?!?) I arrived at 8:15, but it wasn't ready. I went to pay, and the cashier listed the pizzas and toppings, but it didn't include jalapenos. The cashier went to check, and sure enough, they had been forgotten. Fortunately (?) the pizza was still in the oven, so they added them. When the pizza came out 10 minutes later, I opened the pizza to check it. I was aghast at the lack of cheese (see pic)! I complained and was told that was the right amount for smoked mozzarella. I told the person that no, this is not the first time I've gotten this pizza, and its never had so little cheese! They assured me this was the right amount. I stormed out. On the way home, I only got more upset. I called in, and asked 'how do I get what I want?' and was quickly transferred to the person in charge. She assured me that it was the right amount, and offered to remake it with more cheese even though what I got was definitely double the amount. She suggested perhaps next time I should ask for triple cheese, and I suggested it would be more like 8 times the cheese. Six years ago this location was fantastic. There were two good managers and I could go in any night and find plenty of hot and delicious slices. One of the managers, Joe, was moved to Wildwood, and may still be there. The other manager left, and things went downhill from there (Westside only). They didn't keep the pizza slice cabinet full, so I'd walk in and find ancient dried-up looking slices that I wouldn't want even if they were fresh (apparently no one else wanted them, either). I found that if I got there at dinner time, there would be a long line of people and an empty case. However, if I arrived closer to closing, like I did tonight, the case would start to get filled with fresh pizza! The place was empty, so I could only assume the staff was making pizza so they could take it home as 'extra' (just a guess, but c'mon!). This happened again tonight; three fresh pizzas came into the slice case in the 15 minutes I was there. I won't mention all the times they burned my slices, or they just...disappear while I'm waiting for them. These things haven't happened at the Wildwood location, just the Westside location. Next time, if there is one, I will certainly make the extra effort to go across town to Vic's Wildwood to get my pizza. read more

Been visiting Vics for years. Have ordered this same pizza previously. Today was a total disappointment. First off the lady at the counter was very helpful and polite when they got my order wrong. But the only option was to have the correct toppings put on the original pizza and have it cooked twice or wait for the correct pizza. When I looked at the big pieces of greasy sautéed onions, mushrooms and bell peppers I figured I would cut my losses and just take the monstrosity home. The humongous chunks of sautéed vegetables are not appealing or appetizing. If you like your pizza with HUGE sautéed onions, green pepper and mushrooms... I mean HUGE then this is the pizza for you. This was a fine pizza experience! To a newcomer, the drink selection is daunting, but I settled on a draft root beer that well-suited my pizza selection. Service was friendly and efficient, took only 15 minutes or so to get my custom pie, served so hot I burned myself (my fault obviously!). The crust was excellent, though it could have used more toppings in general. The little touches were everywhere, from the decor to the yeast on the tables. Pizza is a harder food to review fairly unless you're unbiased to regional pizza variety. If you only love Chicago deep dish, most of the nation's pizza joints will disappoint. Delicious pizza with creative toppings and friendly faces! There's outdoor seating for if you have pets, there are vegan options if that's your thing, and some great stuff for beer snobs. A woman named Emma at the register was super-friendly and we struck up a great conversation. It's nice when local businesses have employees you can tell are genuinely happy to be there. My criticisms are only that there's too much oregano in their pizza sauce, and their website can, at times, be iffy. They have more vegan options than Old School Pizza (who only offers vegan stuff on Thursday). However, Old School offers garlic knots so if that's your thing, I'd suggest you make the short trip downtown. read more

I'm from NY, and know my pizza! Thank the pizza gods I found Vics! People had told me abet Old School Pizza, but I didn't think the pizza was anything out of the ordinary at all. It was also so loud in there that after 3 tries I vowed to find a better place; a high school kid told me about Vics. I was in HEAVEN with the thin, crunchy crust and awesome toppings. My fav is the vegan, bc of the fresh savory garlic, white or yeast based sauces, and fantastic crust. My family loves the meat or cheese based slices, and we're regulars there now. Went here with my son and daughter while visiting Olympia. We had the Maynard - garlic, spinach, garlic, black olives, garlic, mozzarella, garlic and feta - did I mention garlic. The roasted garlic was plentiful. The rest of the toppings - sparse - and for those of you who follow my reviews know this is a perpetual complaint of all but a few pizza shops. We also had an order of "bread sticks" While tasty, the bread sticks were the same pizza dough but thicker. They were tasty, but not what i really call bread sticks. They came with a side of marinara for dipping. That gave me a good taste of the sauce which is just the kind I like. Mildly spicy, rich and flavorful. Back to the pizza - it was very tasty, even with sparse ingredients. We got the 18" and I was only full after 2 slices because I ate a healthy serving of bread sticks too. Definitely one of the best pizzas in Olympia, but they could really wow me if they used more toppings. read more

Then, when it finally did arrive it was on the wrong kind of crust (wheat instead of white) when I has specifically asked for white. At that point, I just went ahead and ate it because I didn't have time to wait for them to make yet again. For my money, this is easily the best pizza in Oly. The crust is perfect, crispy, and chewy at once with tons of topping choices. Also, the bakery goods are not to be overlooked, I highly recommend the 'uggs' (sp?) raspberry and white chocolate cookies to die for! The one thing which earns my undying loyalty with any pizza joint, though, is the fact that they will sell me their dough to take home and bake my own pizza. So after my second time, I've decided I'm not coming back. On my first trip yesterday evening, everyone was so nice and courteous, I literately told my date "I've found a new Home!". We ordered a large pizza, half Summer Special (the mango sauce one) and half Ox (pepperoni, olives, bell peppers, mushrooms) on wheat crust. The wait was very reasonable--but this was probably due to me having amazing company. After 15 minutes or so, a lady (who seemed like a manager) came to our table and refunded us the money we paid for the pizza and gave us a sincere apology because they had accidentally sold a slice of our pizza. I didn't think it was a big deal, but I was happy to take the money as she said "I want you to have this back and please give us another chance". In addition, they let us eat the rest of the pizza for free. I was a happy camper. I was so impressed with Vic's service (and the pizza was actually some of the best I've had in a while), that I told my friend about my experience there this morning. We were both really hungry and decided to give them their second chance today for lunch. I order a large pizza again, half Ox with Tomatoes and Onions, and half pepperoni and sausage. I was very hungry and didn't wan't any confusion, so I double checked our order with the lady at the cashier. Again, reasonable wait time, but when our pizza arrived, the Half that was supposed to be Ox plus Onions and Tomatoes was missing the "Ox" part (olives, bell peppers, sausage). We told our server and she immediately responded, "Oh, it's no problem, I'll just add them in, it shouldn't take more than a couple minutes" and promptly left. Now, I'm not that picky, but it seemed rude to me that she assumed we should be okay with an already prepared pizza with more ingredients added in...It was no surprise that my half of the Pizza (the Ox + Onions and Tomatoes) was very soggy, and that the added ingredients were not well cooked; honestly, my part of the pizza tasted like overpriced Pizza Hut. But my friend and I were so hungry and tired of being disappointed that we just ate it anyway. Vic's pizzas taste amazing, but the service quality is very lacking. I first went to Vic's on a surprise date. I had just moved to Olympia, and literally had no idea where we were going. We ordered matching vegan calzones, mine with a whole wheat crust and hers with a white crust. Let me just take a moment to marvel at the quality & texture of the whole wheat crust. It was good; by "good" I mean "not too hippie." I special-ordered "no olives, please" and unfortunately, that resulted in a calzone with 1 million olives. Oh, Vic's, I forgive you for being absent-minded and making me pick out gross olives. Unlike some reviewers, I didn't find the hipster music or crowd to be unbearable, but maybe I have been there when the Greeners are studying for finals or big tests or something. Do they have finals at evergreen? Regardless, there is something to be said for a pizza place where I can get a daily vegan slice or vegan calzone with my paramour, and still take home a non-vegan pizza that will satisfy the children. There are a lot of toppings to choose from and even a vegan pizza fiend could drown in the options. The pies tend to be more the thin-crust east coast variety, rather than the thicker "hand tossed" crusts, which is OK since the toppings shine. Vegans choose from white or yellow sauce - one is garlicky and creamy, the other is a nutritional yeast "cheeze"-style sauce. I stick to the white (garlic) sauce because heavy nut.yeast use can spoil a meal for me. I'm a fairly non-adventurous pizza orderer and I usually stick with one of the three pizza topping combos I have grown to love, but adventure eaters will be satisfied, too. Prices are fair. Pros: Great beer selection, fast pizza, cool decor Cons: SERVICE! We went here with friends from Olympia, but we are from out of town and were visiting Oly for the weekend. The beer selection was great and our order was made fast, but while we were enjoying our pizza, we were totally covered from behind in pepperocini juice when one of the people behind the counter sprayed it over the bar and all over us. There was juice all over the floor (hello, fall hazard) along with pieces of pepperocinis on us. Our pizza had juice all over it and my boyfriend was covered in it. The staff didn't come to clean up or even investigate how much of a mess was made until I complained and pointed out his wet hoodie and it was all over the back of my hair. It was the only hoodie he had with him on our trip. They had only noticed there was a mess BEHIND the counter, and all I heard was a "Oops, sorry" that wasn't really directed at the guests but the other employees. They did offer to try and make it right but put it on me to come up with something - I just wanted THEM to suggest something. They came over and asked if we'd like a second round of beer. Sure. But we were halfway through the ones we were drinking. So they said they'd come back. We finished our beers and they were closing/cleaning up for the night when she came back and asked if she could get us anything else... and I said "Well, yeah, the beers you said you'd give us." "Oh yeah." They should have been on that and when our were empty or close to it they should have just showed up. Extremely disappointed with how it was handled.
