I have been wanting to try this lounge for quite some time. My wife and I talk about it all the time. We frequently come to Animal Kingdom Lodge for breakfast and they are not open yet, so we have not gotten the chance. We finally did! To get here you will need to head to Animal Kingdom resort, which Disney does not allow you to park at without a dining reservation. It can be tricky to get here, but I would recommend coming from a theme park or Disney Springs. The lounge is open from 4:0pm to 11:00pm and food service starts at 5:00pm. My wife and I had dinner at one of their restaurants so we went here first, they do allow you to come park up to two hours before your reservation so it worked perfectly. We enjoyed it so much, we also came back to the lounge after our dinner for another drink. The resort itself is all African, theming, decor, even some cast members. I love this resort for the feel especially since both my parents are from Africa. It is always enjoyable to run into a cast member from where my parents are from and get to talk to them. The lounge is almost in between two floors. You can get to off the lobby and it's a half level down. They sandwiched a lounge on the level and it is the only thing on that "level". You cannot get to it from an elevator, you need to go down the stairs. Im sure there is a ramp for strollers and wheelchairs but I did not locate it. It also over looks Boma, the buffet style restaurant. There are seats at the bar and then a few tables and couches around, but it is not overly large. We did notice most people stopped by for a drink and took it to go although there were a few people sitting. There were more sitting after our dinner. Their menu is slightly limited, especially with the wines, but they do have a full bar and then food as well. We decided to only get one food item as we were going to dinner. We ordered the Spiced Goat Cheese Dip which was served with Assorted Breads, like pita and pepadew chips. Fantastic! It was absolutely delicious and something I would order over and over. This dip was not overly spicy, but had a little hint, it was very cheesy and creamy and then toasted on the top so you got a little crunch. It was also topped with a couple of peppers, where I think most of the "spice" came from. We were also wanting to get the burger, which we heard was delicious but we will get it next time. We both ordered a couple of different cocktails. I ordered 2 different types of Old Fashioned. The first one had bourbon and the second one had tequila. Both of these were fantastic but I am preferring tequila old fashioned' s lately. I also order a classic Manhattan, which is another favorite and this one was delicious. I usually do not go for the specialty cocktails, since they are usually too sweet for me. All three of my drinks were very strong and I definitely recommend them! My wife tried a couple of the specialty drinks and then an African wine. She first ordered the Cold Brew Martini which had Amarula Cream Liqueur, Kahlúa Liqueur, Crème de Cacao Dark Liqueur, Stoli Vanilla Vodka, and Joffrey' Cold Brew Coffee. It was a good creamy cold brew martini, not quite an espresso martini but still good and she mentioned she would get it again. She also tried the Prickly Pear Mule which had VUSA African Vodka, Belle de Brillet Pear Liqueur, Prickly Pear, and Lime topped with Ginger Beer. She loved this one but she is a huge fan of Prickly Pear. It was not overly sweet and had a slight fizz due to the ginger beer. The wine she chose was the Rustenberg Chardonnay. She would have preferred a Pinot Grigio or Moscato/Riesling but she say this was really good. It was not super sweet, just a slight sweetness, not too tart. It was a good glass of wine and a great portion. This was a great lounge and one I could see us coming to for dinner when we dont feel like cooking. Food starts at 5 but they open at 4. My husband and I have been wanting to check out this lounge for a long time. We finally got the opportunity. This lounge is located at Animal Kingdom resort, so it can be difficult to get here. You are not allowed to park here without a dining reservation or staying at the resort. So if you are just trying to visit the lounge, you are going to need to take a bus over from either a park or Disney Springs. Luckily we had dinner reservations so we were able to park here. They are open from 4pm to 11pm. Their ambiance is very South African, which is on par with the resort. It also overlooks Boma, which is the buffet restaurant downstairs. Their menu is slightly limited in area, especially with the wines, but they do have a full bar and also offer some light bites starting at 5pm. We absolutely loved it here. It is for sure a place we want to come back and spend more time. They have seats at the bar and then a few tables and couches around, but it is not overly large. I noticed a lot of people would come in just to grab a drink at the bar and leave. We ended up spending time when they opened and then again after our dinner. For drinks, we ordered a couple different ones in total, since we came back a second time. I tried two of their cocktails from the menu. The first one I tried was the Cold Brew Martini which had Amarula Cream Liqueur, Kahlúa Liqueur, Crème de Cacao Dark Liqueur, Stoli Vanilla Vodka, and Joffrey' Cold Brew Coffee. It was a classic cold brew martini, very creamy and delicious. In the past we have had great service from this location, but this time it was very different. We arrived and a server saw us and said they'd be right with us. After about 5 minutes we were given menus, then the server said I will be right back. After waiting 15 minutes I finally went up to the bar to order. That server then told me they'd be right with me in a minute. The original server who greeted us and gave us menu's had reappeared. She took our drink orders and headed to the bar to make/grab them. They arrived after some time. The drinks were all very good and as tasty as you'd expect your Disney drink to be. Since our dinner reservation time was now present, we asked for the check so that we could head downstairs. Check was brought out and we were outta there. Our drinks were quite tasty with some African-inspired ingredients included. We arrived around 5 pm and the lounge was fairly empty, but by the time we left around 6 pm, it was very busy. Best little bar on the Savannah! When staying at or visiting the Animal Kingdom Lodge this place is a cozy, African inspired bar with tasty food and sumptuous drinks. I came here with my other half and the mother in law. Together we are known as the Trio of Dips! We had the Vulcan Spiced Chicken Wings, Mushroom Flatbread and Goat Cheese Dip. The chicken wings were the best with the sauce having the perfect balance of flavor! There was a layer of blue cheese on the bottom when mixed with the sauce became a great dip. The goat cheese came with pita chips and this sesame bread. The dip part was so good but the edges were a tad burned. Lastly the mushroom flatbread was very good with arugula and fried little mushrooms. Very different from a normal flatbed and I wish there was a sauce or a cheese that kept it together, because the little mushrooms rolled around, but they were fried and so snatch-able, which circles you back to the blue cheese/wing dip sauce you have. Let's briefly discuss drinks! The manhattan was very strong and made very well, but the chocolate martini was the way to go!!!!! The food ended up being free because the staff felt it took too long. My party was having fun and we were not upset at all. With all that being said our bill was still $100. I came here on a Thursday night while staying at AKL. The bar was full of people watching Thursday night football, so I sat at one of the side tables. A waitress came to help me right away, which was nice. I wasn't sure if they'd bring the drink over or if I'd need to order at the bar. I had the Mt Kilamarita. It was ok. It was sweet, and they gave it a salt rim. Without question, it would have been better with a sugar rim. There was really nothing special about it, and I probably wouldn't order one again. I'd have probably liked it better here if I'd have been able to sit at the bar, but the drinks were nothing special, and it was really pretty mediocre for a Disney bar. If you just want to stop for a drink before bed or something, it's ok. Just don't expect anything special. read more

Overall our week at Disney had disappointing service which is something I have never encountered with them before. Service everywhere was ok at best. Lucky for us our last night we ended up having the best service of our trip. That great service was provided by Joe at Victoria Falls Lounge. Joe was absolutely wonderful! Drinks were well made and tasted great. Joe was able to give us proper recommendations and we were very happy with his offers. Great little bar area above Boma and Jiko in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. My friend and I stopped in to have a drink and some appetizers. Sadly, they didn't have any appetizers when we went in. They only have three offerings (a cheese plate, a nut/olive type sampler and one other thing) but they said the kitchen was backed up...at 430pm. Either way, the bartender suggested getting appetizers at Jiko right when they opened which was the best advice ever. They actually allow bar seating starting about 5pm even though opening is 530pm. While waiting for Jiko to open, we had a drink and hung out at Victoria Falls Lounge. Victoria Falls Lounge had a variety of belly up bar seating, some comfy seats and a fun view overlooking Boma's hungry diners. A craft beer ran me $10 with tip. This has always been one of our favorite 'watering holes' in all of the Walt Disney World Resort, not only because of the actual waterfalls nearby, or the smell of Boma and Jiko delightfully wafting up from the eateries below. It's because of the tremendous service and attention we always get from the staff. Well, it doesn't hurt that the drinks are fantastic and the selection is pretty decent. All of that together makes for a truly wonderful experience. When the sun has set, there is this delightful ambiance and low glow the lounge takes on. It's not too dark to see, but it's very romantic. Flickering lights and the sound of water and diners add to a very wonderful feel overall. It's a great spot to unwind with a pre-dinner drink or snack, or just a libation on your way to or from your room at Jambo House. Definitely a must-do when we stay, even if we don't stay at the Lodge. read more

We went to Victoria Falls on our first night since all of the restaurants on campus were booked with a long, long waiting list (45 minutes at 8:30pm!) and we didn't want to go to the cafeteria. We were told that Victoria Falls had the same menu as Jiko, so that's where we found ourselves. The tables were short and really not conducive to eating. We asked for a menu and found that it really only shared the same APPETIZERS as Jiko and we could not order a real meal. The waiters/bartenders took a while to get to us, though they rewarded us with strong drinks. We split the "breads and spreads" (the mango chutney was the big winner of the night) and the "crispy chickpea bites" before heading back to Kidani Village. Parting thoughts: too expensive for what you get, we should have just waited for Jiko. read more

Even if you are into Disney bar hopping, this little bar at the Animal Kingdom lodge is not worth making a special trip to go to -- there's nothing unique or special about it, it just feels like a hotel lobby bar. But if you are waiting for your table to be ready at Boma (as we were), it's not a bad place to hang out. In fact, Boma is so notorious for seating you way later than your reservation time that you might as well go ahead and have a cocktail here while you wait. Decent selection of mostly South African wines by the glass or bottle (a bottle is a better deal though man, is it gonna cost you nearly 4 times the retail price)! I get the feeling they change prices often since none of the drink menus have prices listed. Make sure you ask how much something costs if you want to avoid sticker shock. Minus a few stars due to the boring setting and decor and the slow service. It took forever to get served and to get our check even after politely asking for it repeatedly. read more

We were staying at the Jambo Villas for a few days. During our stay we wanted to check this place out. One night, we were back at around 10pm after a long hot day at the park and wanted to wind down. We changed and stopped by at 11pm. There were a lot less people at the bar at 11. It's a self seating bar lounge area. It's a really nice lounge that overlooks Boma and Jiko and has a great atmosphere. It took about 10 minutes to get our bartender to give us the menu after sitting down. When our server finally came over he asked what we wanted to drink when we didn't even have a menu yet. He gave us the drink menu and 5 minutes after that took our order. Appetizers weren't available because it was so late at night. They have a couple tv's at up front at the bar area so you can watch games there. read more

No big deal here. If you are staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and want to grab a drink before dinner at Jiko or Boma, this is where you'll go. You don't have much choice in the matter. The prices on all drinks here are insane. However, this is still comparable to just about everywhere else in Disney so you can't really fault the bar for that. What I can say is that the bartenders are very slow in not only making the drinks, but also taking your order. It's not a busy place--or at least, it wasn't very busy when I was there around 6:30 on a Friday a few weeks back. There were a handful of people at the bar and that was it. I waited almost ten minutes before one of the bartenders made his way around to asking me what I'd like. He seemed more preoccupied with behind the bar stuff like opening grapefruit juice and pouring it into a cylinder. When the guy finally got around to taking my order, he recommended a particular merlot. He even gave me a tasting sample, which is always a nice surprise. But the wine was not good. It tasted chalky. So I ordered something different. A cab I think. It was ok. I also asked him to make my fiancée a specialty martini from their menu. As she waited patiently at one of the tables behind me, I nodded to her and gave her a look that said "Sorry it's taking forever." The bartender took a few more minutes to make the martini and didn't seem 100% sure about his abilities. In the end, her drink was fine. But the service here was just too slow to deserve anything better than three stars. Maybe I just caught them on a weird day. Shrug. read more

We would grab a couple of comfy chairs, order a few drinks and sit back and relax as we would plan our evening adventures, either back at the parks or just hanging around the resort. Mike, our bartender most days was great and quickly got to know our likes and dislikes, helping to guide us to some of their signature cocktails. From the outside, it is just a classy looking area that people use for a drink before heading downstairs to Boma. I really enjoy the Animal Kingdom Lodge and will often wind down a day or resort or park hopping with a stroll outdoors on the grounds. Victoria Falls is located in Jambo House overlooking Boma and Jiko on the floor below. Prime real estate in one of my favorite lodges, but it hasn't really lived up to what it could be. For starters, I like how they've arranged the seating area. Yes, it's loud since it's open to the main floor and Boma restaurant, so this may not be the place to have a deep, meaningful conversation. The food here is hit or miss, they added more food options to the menu this year that are pretty decent. I wouldn't come here for the food, but if you're here, don't be afraid. I tried the "pork wings" and they were quite tasty, though I had the feeling that they were microwaved and then brought out. Eh. The drinks here are hit-or-miss too in my experience. They have a pinotage (South Africa's signature grape!) from Barista Coffee that I really enjoy, though they don't list the vintage on the menu. It's got nice hints of dark berries, coffee... I'll stop, but it's a tasty one that's easy to drink. The mixed drinks are sometimes good and then other times taste like they were made from powdered mix. That's fine, but I'd rather not pay that much for something made from powder. I haven't had issues with service. Sometimes it can be quite slow, and I'm not sure why, but it hasn't reached the point of being impossible to deal with. Overall, I like the ambiance and the lodge, which is why I go here. I'll continue looking for other options though in the resorts I like. read more
