I bought my boyfriend an hour massage as a gift on Groupon. The salon does not answer their phone, and he had to leave messages. They did eventually call back and he scheduled for today. Upon arriving the requested 15 minutes early, the door was locked. He called the number, but of course, again, no answer. After a few minutes someone did come and open the door. From the time the door was unlocked until he was back in his truck was 45 minutes (for a 60 minute massage?) The massage itself was ok, nothing to write home about, but not bad... I called to talk to the salon regarding the time issue, (no answer, but they did call back promptly) and they explained that he was on the table for 50 minutes. I said that was not true, she argued with me and told me that he had been taken in 5 minutes early. Not sure how that is relevant, but she continued to argue with me until I just said, "Nevermind, thank you, I'll make sure to let everyone know how much we enjoyed your salon." From the looks of the other reviews, this is their normal practice, wish I'd checked the reviews prior to my purchase... Total ripoff. read more

I am writing this review under a different account than my own. I am so angry and embarrassed but I have to share the photo. I have been getting bikini waxes regularly for 20 years. I did fill out the form and mentioned that I have bruised from time to time when waxed so the lady knew this going in. When she smeared the wax on, I knew right away this was not going to be a good experience. She was extremely rough and when I looked down, I noticed the right side of my leg where it meets the groin area was already super dark. I assumed it was a bruise forming. I was wrong. She BURNED me. When she was done, she didn't even put any soothing ointment on the area. Just powder to wipe away any excess wax. I went to the beach and even my father, who is not a terribly observant person, saw me in my bathing suit and asked what happened. Now it's a month later, it has scabbed up and peeled off like snake skin. I had put aloe and every soothing thing I could think of on the area and now I'm left with discoloration on my skin. A dermatologist friend told me that the damage is probably permanent. It may lighten a bit but it might not. Please avoid going here at all costs!!! read more

I called to ask if she does blackhead extractions. Videll stated that she did in conjunction with a facial. I made an appointment, and when I arrived, there was a note on her front door that she moved to a different suite within the business complex, even though she did not notify me about her new location at the time I made the appointment. When I went into her new location, she was on the phone screaming to a Verizon employee. I felt that this was unprofessional for a first-time customer to overhear. I looked out the window while she was screaming. She told me to look at her while she was screaming on the phone. That should have been a sign for me to leave right then and there, but I thought I'd give her a chance. She told me to disrobe from the waist up and lie down on one of the beds. The beds were all out in the open and not private. I told her I didn't want a customer to walk in and see me. She stated that I was her last appt. for the evening. I told her that I'm pretty sure that the State of Delaware required her beds to be privately located. Videll stated that if the State of Delaware were to do an inspection of her spa, she would tell them that the current arrangement was only temporary, even though she planned to keep it that way because she liked everything to be open. She proceeded to complain about Verizon throughout my facial, even using curse words to describe them. She also discussed her sex life, even though I was meeting her for the first time. Both the facial and the blackhead extractions were quick. I asked to use the bathroom afterwards to look at my face because there were no mirrors in the spa. Well, there wasn't a mirror in the bathroom either! Now, I know why! When I got home that night, I looked in my mirror. She had only extracted about 5 blackheads. There were about 20 more. When I called her about it, she stated she was only allowed to do 10 per sitting. I asked her why she didn't tell me this in advance. She stated that she assumed I knew. I told her that it wasn't a rule at the spa I used previously. She told me to take my business there in the future and then hung up on me. I got the impression she downsized her space because she was losing customers, and she spoke badly of her former employees and stated she no longer wants employees. Save your money people. It is not worth the aggravation, time and money spent. I purchased a deal from Living Social. A 60 minute massage, a 30 minute body scrub, a 60 minute facial and hot cocoa for $100. I arrived 10 minutes early as recommended, completed the paper work and waited until someone came to get me. When I arrived in the room it was about 1:10. By the time the so called massage began it was about 1:15. The woman performing the massage (not Videll) was HORRIBLE. She continued to talk. She would constantly stop massaging me to TALK. It was driving me crazy. She could not keep quiet. When people go to get a massage, they want to relax. They do not want to be bothered by someone constantly talking! She even asked me to lift my head a couple of times while I was laying on my belly to look at her while she was speaking. Ridiculous! The body scrub was bad too. First of all, there are no showers to rinse off with. The scrub was applied to my dry skin, rubbed in for a few seconds, then left on for a LONG time prior to being taken off with a few hot towels. After the body scrub, the woman attempted to massage me. I think she was new and did not have much experience giving massages. While attempting a massage, the body scrub was not wiped off properly so there was a gritty feeling on my skin while it was being rubbed. There was also grit all over the sheets! Then, she stopped at 2:20 stating she was done and my time was up! I had to remind her that I paid for a 60 minute massage and a 30 minute body scrub. She claims that the time begins at the time of my appointment but failed to realize she made me wait in the waiting room for 10 minutes! She then attempted to massage my head for 5 minutes, stopped and left at 2:25. The facial was really good. It was given my the owner, Videll. I have no complaints about the facial. I'm sure if she would have given me the massage, I would have been happy! I did express my concerns to Videll about the massage and was not offered another one or an additional discount to come back to satisfy me. Therefore, I will not return to this place again. I purchased a Groupon for two photo-facials. I did have a difficult time making the initial appointments and the first time I showed up to darkness and locked doors. Still, stuff happens so I called and made alternative appointments. My first appointment was today and it was wonderful. Sorry I even have to give a star. I bought a Groupon for a facial treatment. When I went in there, Videll, who does remind you of Kathy Bates, was so rude that immediately I felt uncomfortable. She continue to insult me to the point of what I thought was unprofessional attitude. I said to myself am I in the Twilight Zone, why is this lady being so rude and attacking me, what the heck did I do. I started to think maybe she had mental issue, with her being aggressive and snappy. I never in 33 years of going to a nail salons, going to a spa, getting my hair done have ever had any trouble and have actually been called a great customer. I basically had to end of our conversation with her being so rude and making comments. I said you know what I feel very uncomfortable here, I feel we got off to a bad start, I'm just going to leave. She walked me to the door unlocked it and called me a f****** b****! So that was my experience at this lovely Spa. Wow, just had the rudest customer service experience!!! My fiancé bought me a prenatal massage from Videll's Day Spa and I had originally scheduled my appointment for last Friday. I had to reschedule it to help with planning an impromptu wedding for a friend who was dying from cancer. The doctors said he probably would not make it until Saturday. So, I scheduled it for tomorrow, (Wednesday)which I then had to call and reschedule due to funeral services that were happening. The lady told me she was going to have to charge me a $30 reschedule fee!! I asked her if she was serious due to the circumstances?! She started getting nasty with me so I got nasty back. Then she tried to throw in there that I didn't let her finish and she was going to ask me if both times pertained to the same thing and that if they were she was going to waive the fee. I just told her at this point I would rather go somewhere else and will get a refund. She then told me she would prefer me to do that as well. REALLY?! I understand completely that people no show, and it leaves big open gaps, but I called 24 hours in advance BOTH TIMES and the way that she spoke to me was completely unprofessional. I have to say, the salon is cute and cozy, but the service wasn't the best. I had purchased a Living Social voucher to have a facial, massage, and body scrub with my mom & we had everything provided together. We had two employees who serviced us; one employee was fantastic. She did our facials and was SO sociable with us; we really enjoyed our time with her. Apparently she is not working at this spa anymore; she went to Bliss Unisex Day Spa in Newark DE. Now, the woman who provided our body scrubs and massages was not sociable at all. It was almost like WE had to try to spend extra energy just to keep her in a positive mood. The massages weren't personal or triggered to any knots, she literally just squeezed us on and off roughly. The body scrub also wasn't enjoyable, she was way too rough. Her unapproachable attitude made it hard to confront her so my mother and I just kept our mouths shut. I too got a groupon and was not pleased with the service - even at the discount rate. As other reviewers commented, it was not as long as advertised but that was okay with me as i was ready to go. Do NOT get a brazilian wax at this place. I have been getting waxed for over five years and this was the worst was I have ever had. My skin was broken and bruised by the time she was done. I had to cancel my appointment yesterday due to a medical emergency requiring surgery at the hospital in Philadelphia. Videll insisted that since I did not give 24 hours notice, she will charge me $30 to reschedule. I called her twice that day to let her know what was going on and offered to supply a note from the surgeon. When I asked for a waiver of the reschedule fee due to the emergency, Videll told me she is DECLINING TO PROVIDE SERVICE TO ME and told me to get a refund from Groupon. I wish I could support this local small business, but cancellation policies and good customer service should be able to accommodate an emergency. read more

I have also had the Micro-Photo Therapy and received compliments on how much younger I looked. Both the spa and Videll are warm and inviting. I had no trouble scheduling my appointment. The massage I received was nothing short of amazing. I never felt anything but welcome and was not rushed. Then when I went on my rescheduled day, they didn't have my name on the books. Obviously, I was very upset. She called me as soon as I left and wanted to know why I was so upset. The massage with Videll was awful! I asked her numerous times to ease up on the pressure because I am sensitive and she continued to push as hard each time. I asked her not to crack my neck or back because I have fractures and she continued to crack anyway. Certain spots were ticklish and normally, a massage therapist would shy away from those spots. I must have been amusing her because she continued on the same ticklish spots over and over again and even commented, "we'll now that I know the spots, I am going to keep going back there". Lastly, she grabbed fistfuls of my hair and pulled (even around the crown of my head) and even thought i said it hurt, she continued and claimed I would thank her for it later. Ive been feeling very sick lately with all kinds of body aches and back pain. I went in for a massage and Videll recommended this treatment called isocloeanse which I had heard of but didnt know much about. Basically, what it does is cleanse your body of toxins through your feet! The water turns different colors according to what part of your body is being detoxified. Anyway, I dont know if it was the massage or the treatment but I felt amazing the next day! I booked a series of 6 more isocleanse sessions and plan on accompanying each one with a relaxing massage! Worst experience I've ever had. I can't believe that this business is open. I called and waited a week, no response. Called again and left an email, no response. Third time was a charm, got a call back three days later. The owner, I believe, was so rude that I asked if this would be a good experience. She said, "You tell me." I had purchased GC's for three people and had to call each of them to let them know how sorry I was that this would be the worst experience and not to go. Why would someone go into business to behave in such a crass manner. I don't expect that this business will last. Very disenchanted and rude behavior flows downhill from the owner to the workers. BUYER BEWARE! I bought a groupon for a massage at this establishment. The women was not flexible or accommodating when trying to schedule an appointment. She was also unwilling to extend the deadline of the groupon, even though she did not have an appointments that worked with my schedule, as I work full time. This groupon was only good for a month after I bought it which I thought was very short anyway. Regardless, after several phone calls and lots of frustration we finally scheduled and appointment on a Sunday and no one showed up. I called several times with no response or prior cancellation. When I called the next day she was only willing to extend the groupon for three hours the next day.. which not at all helpful because it was during a work day, as she was already well aware of. She was unwilling to help me make it work and was insisting that I just use the groupon after the expiration date and pay the difference of the service I was suppose to get. She was unfriendly and rude and I could not believe that is how someone runs their business. I got refund for the groupon and will never be returning there. I had also bought an additional groupon as christmas present for my mother. She was only given one actual time slot that work for her and felt pressured by the women to take it. She said that the women was late and made my mother stand outside in cold while she opened the spa. My mother also said that her massage was mediocre at best and that the women was rude to other costumers that walked into the salon during her massage. This was the worst experience I've ever had in my life ! I felt apprehensive about giving business to this spa due to very slow response time when looking to book an appointment for my Brazilian waxing. When Videll reached out to me she was very unprofessional and short when asking for my Groupon voucher number. (Strike 1) When I finally arrived I was greeting by a very dry hello, I dreaded walking in due to the very cluttered waiting area. It took for me to say "Hello I'm here for a Brazilian wax, my name is Brigitta...." as the business owner I feel as though she should have been somewhat happy to see a customer. (Strike 2) Finally we get to the waxing, she begins cleaning sanitizing wiping and all the other things she's required to do, and asks in a very condescending manner what did I tell you before your scheduled waxing, I said you told me nothing except I should be 15 minutes early. She began waxing and was very rough. I told her that it hurt and she told me that she could stop when ever I said the word, keep in mind I have a very high pain tolerance and this isn't my first rodeo so I know how these things should be. So I began to explain what other estheticians have done in the past and she said "I'm not rough I'm just quick!". The pain was unbearable so I asked that she not continue tearing my flesh away. I purchased a groupon for a facial and a wrap. I wish I didn't waste my money. The atmosphere was ok but the staff and services were unacceptable. During my wrap service this young blond girl (who seemed plesant during our interactions) took a break to talk to the owner. The had a full blown arugement. Guess they didn't realize or care how thin th the walls were. The girl was trying to explain something then said I might as well just kill myself. After that she came back in and was still polite and resumed my service. About 10 mins before we were done she went to speak to the boss(Videll) again to tell her how my services were going. Videll screamed "she has been here since 1030 its close to 12 get her out here I have an appoint at the school." Iwabted to leave right then in there. Awful way to treat a new customer.
