Great service - clear, helpful advice. No high pressure sales.

Sounds like all the five-star reviewers were shopping for TVs. I was looking for an HD camcorder, specifically the Sony HDR-CX260V which was well-recommended by Consumer Reports. I priced it online at Tiger Direct, B&H Photo Video, Newegg, and Amazon. The first three had it at $448. Amazon offered it for $423, and of course, no tax and free shipping. We thought we should try to do our bit to support brick-and-mortar shops, as the Amazons of the Internet retailing world are rapidly driving them out of business, so my wife suggested VIdeo Only. She'd heard their ads. Short attention span version: They had the camcorder, they were glad to match the Amazon price, they threw in an extra HDMI cable. I got what I came for. I haven't unpacked it yet, so operational problems, if any, are still to come. The store was deserted when we came in (literally; there were three sales types chatting amongst themselves because there were no customers except us) at 4:50 PM, as rush hour traffic crawled by on Charleston Rd. outside and Monday Night Football surrounded us on at least 30 screens. Bad sign, I thought. But we pressed on. Our sales droid, who shall remain nameless to save him embarrassment, knew less about the camcorder than I did. He was certainly willing to spend time with us (in fact he *did* hover, unlike Tazuru's experience) and did his best to answer questions, but he knew nothing about this camcorder except how to sell one. I had hoped for a more knowledgable salesperson, since their name says it all. So: Five stars for the gear and the deal, three stars for not knowing what they were selling me. If I ever need a big screen, I may try them again. The consensus of other reviewers is that they know those a whole lot better *and* offer a good deal. read more

I heard about VideoOnly on the radio and decided to go in there and check the TVs out to research which one I need and was pretty sure I would buy from the web since I thought the internet prices would be cheaper. Boy was I in for a pleasant surprise. Willis spent almost an hour walking me through the TVs I was interested in and explaining details and answering my questions patiently. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. He said they would never lose a customer because they got a better deal somewhere else and he lived up to it. Went back in after a few days and bought a top-of-line Samsung 65" LED TV. Enjoying it like crazy right now - delivery and setup crew was very professional too. Willis offered low price guarantee for 60 days while most online vendors do 15 days (like Amazon). Hands down the best experience I ever had buying a TV and got a great product and deal too. Highly recommended - I am a customer for life if they keep this up. Do check them out if you are in the market for a TV. read more

On 7/22/2018, I visited Video Only in Mountain View. Upon entering, I was greeted by salesman "Fred". I was immediately very impressed by Fred's demeanor and extensive knowledge of the television I wanted to see about. Through the whole purchasing process, Fred displayed vast knowledge of the process and I was totally impressed by Fred's manner. I am a 82 year old male who has, at one time in my long life, owned and operated 6 Pizza Restaurants and having had over 1000 employees, I would put Fred at the top of the heap!! read more

Prices seem good, but service was terrible. I bought a Panasonic DVD player from this store and it was supposed to stream, too. When it didn't work, and I brought it back, they were just going to give me a new one and not even check it out why it wasn't working. Then, they said it's probably my wireless connection in my house, and I should buy this converter for the walls to get wired to it instead. So, I did. None of that worked, and it has been a big inconvenience. They should have just checked it out at the store, but the sales agent just seemed to busy at the time to really do it right. read more

Purchased a Samsung 60" LED in March, along with Klipsch in-wall speakers and Yamaha surround sound audo. Mark (Dublin location) helped us, and provided very reasonable discounts on various components of the package. Ultimately, I feel that I got a good deal on name brand components, which really work very well tgether. The Samsung remote, however, lost 2 VERY small screws, and started to not function well as a result. Tried Radio Shack and other electronic parts stores for replacement screws, then thought I wold go back to VO to see if they had any recommendations (e.g., get a replacement from Samsung since it would be under warranty). Mark was there, along with some co-workers, and they had an extra Samsung remote and gave me 3 of the screws, saving me a lot of time and effort in trying to get a replacement from Samsung. I couldn't say enough good things about the Video Only Mountain View store. I bought a Sony XBR55X900B. The price they gave me was 12% below Best Buy's price, and it included a 4K media player, FMP-X10, wireless subwoofer, and free delivery and hookup. Sales person I dealt with was Kraig Martin, and he was great. He kept me posted when my TV would be delivered, and followed up to make sure everything was ok. Arrive at store around noon. The first thing I noticed was that there were no cars in the parking lot. The same was true when I walked into the store, no customers. I was pleasantly greeted and asked how they could assist me. I asked the salesperson if they sold video converters. I was advised they did not and it was something I needed to go on-line to purchase. That was no problem given the fact I knew what I wanted. I then asked if there was someone I could talk with that could answer some simple video related questions I had about my TV. I was told that NO ONE in the store had that type of knowledge. Hmmm - I thought it was called Video Only???? Immediately following that response the salesperson picked up the phone and left me hanging. Maybe they need to start selling household appliances because they are definitely in the dark when it comes to anything video related. read more

After 11 years since my last TV purchase (Top of the line Sony XBR HUGE 42"!!) I grew tired of being referred to as a luddite by my kids and had run out of room for all my adapters, and decided it was time to invest in something state of the art. Now, a bit about me... I am a spec hound, nerd, and lover of tech! My single biggest turn off is sales people who profess to know their product but clearly have never opened the manual let alone read the marketing literature of their products. It is for this reason that I despise even walking in to the 'usual suspects' to learn/purchase something state of the art. With that said, I pulled into Video Only with my son who had already spent a great deal of time understanding the available specs. Upon walking in, we were treated by Kraig Martin, the store Manager. He was friendly, engaged, and genuinely interested in our interests and needs. He was a true encyclopedia of not only performance capabilities and specs but also industry standards. He CLEARLY spends ALOT of time keeping current on the industry and the products associated with it. We later found out that he had been in this industry for many years. My son was the fact checker and confirmed everything we learned and were told as being correct. Kraig walked us through the choices, the tradeoffs, prices and options. Ultimately we landed on the set we wanted. We were not able to purchase that day and ultimately went back a week later when we were ready to pull the trigger on the sizable purchase. Even a week later, Kraig remembered the details of our previous interaction, honored his original price quote (FABULOUS price!!) and we closed the deal on a GORGEOUS new SONY XBR! We were thrilled! Not only was Video Only an organization that offered a great purchase selection and at very competitive prices but Kraig, who truly believes in his company, offered a sensational experience!! His knowledge, personality, humor, and customer service were second to none and so appreciated! My son was so impressed with the process as well as he has only witnessed 'bad' experiences at the 'usual' stores... I have been recommending both Video Only as well as Craig to my colleagues who are in the market for a new TV. In closing, I had the conversation with my son about 'value' and how important it is to have an experience that leaves you comfortable and confident in your decision. After reading the reviews for Video Only in Mt. View, I decided to visit the store as I have been looking for a new TV. "Josiah" was the salesman that helped me. He is GREAT! He is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Not at all high pressure. He helped me decide what size would be best for me. I found the perfect TV and I absolutely love it!! I went to Best Buy and bought a 75" Samsung TV. The salesman gave me a price on sale and charged up my order. I heard from a friend about Video Only and thought I would give them a try. Was met by Tom who was friendly and helpful. He showed me the same TV and said he could give me a better deal. He showed me the deal which was considerably better, so I took the TV I bought from Best Buy back and bought from Video Only. I would buy from them again. read more

Just bought a 50" Samsung TV and had a great experience. Andy Liu helped me and he was excellent all around. He educated me on some of the technology and difference among the sets. He also told me about the features that were available in different TVs. All without any sales pressure. I was able to get a warranty extended to a second year without any extra cost. Kraig Martin was very helpful when I stopped by the store. He showed me several good options in the 65" TV class. Kraig explained the features of the TV's and differences. I left considering the Samsung, Sony and LG 4K sets. It was just before Christmas and I was going out of town so he told me if I made a decision he could hold the price until 12/30 and all I had to do was call him with a credit card. I decided on the LG and Kraig also offered me a price guarantee until Super Bowl weekend should the price drop below what I had paid. I am very happy with my new TV. I got the TV I wanted the LG OLED 65" and at a very good price. I did find the TV a few hundred less on the internet but checked with LG and discovered the lower prices were not authorized dealers. All the authorized internet dealers were higher than Video Only. I am very happy with my new TV. I appreciate the service and lack of pressure I received at Video Only. I came in looking for a specific model (st50 from panasonic) but they didn't have it since the manufacture stopped production a while back. Luckily they had a much better model (vt50) at an amazing closeout price. The sales guy was really knowledgeable and friendly. This store provides EXCELLENT service and prices. I came here in search of a new TV to replace my old one and was given excellent advice and had all my questions answered. I consider myself technically proficient in A/V related things, but the sales person I dealt with, Tim, really knew his stuff! I ended up getting the Panasonic 55VT50 and am really happy with my purchase. I also had the chance to meet with the manager, Craig, and he was also super helpful. Today we were shopping for a new home theater system - we purchased one 'in a box' at Best Buy - as we were leaving the store we decided to stop in at Video Only to see what the store was all about. We were helped by an excellent salesman who offered us three different options for what we looking for - the third one being one that we had not been told about at Best Buy. Okay, so I finally dragged myself into the 21st Century and decided to see what all this HD hullabaloo was about. I'm the kind of guy who figures if it ain't broke, don't replace it. I was perfectly happy with my 35" Panasonic tube tv (that's right, one of those 150lb behemoths) that my brother handed down to me when he decided to go all big screen (I had a 27" at the time that mostly worked). So what if the lights dimmed every time I powered up big bertha and you could zap yourself silly by touching the screen. It worked and that's the way I like it. Sure, ever time I visited our local Best Buy I wandered over to the TV aisle and gazed at those 55" and larger LCDs and said to myself, "They're big, colorful, and thin, but the image quality itsn't consistent between TVs and they're not cheap" and easily ignored their existence. But alas, peer pressure from family, friends, the Blu-Ray consortium (here's what a standard DVD looks like vs here's a Blu-Ray on HD! OOO..you want one!) and PG&E recently convinced me to venture forth and perhaps help our local economy. I had heard advertisements for Video Only and they just opened one nearby in Mountain View so I decided to check it out. It's across the street from the Best Buy so I figure I could compare prices and have them battle it out for my $$$. The first thing I noticed when I walked through the door was how clean and uncluttered it was. Unlike Best Buy and Frys, the shelves don't tower to the ceiling. I could easily stand in one location, turn my head left to right and see every big screen in the store. This made it easy to zero in on the units that fit my criteria (quality picture, not a lot of wasted space on from picture edge to tv edge, could fit in my existing tv area). I think there were two or three sales guys in the store and Kraig (with a "K" -- he made sure I knew that) approached me after a minute or so and welcomed me. I said I just wanted to check the store out and see what was available (secretly, I had leanings toward a Samsung LCD because out of all the TV's I had seen at Best Buy and other stores, it was consistently the best looking). LED's are still new and pricey in my opinion, and I figured that plasmas were dirt-old technology that were becoming extinct. I shared my thoughts with Kraig and he pointed out what they had in the store. He explained the differences between the technologies and said that if quality was what I was looking for, that I shouldn't count out the plasmas so quickly. He showed me a Panasonic 55" that had a very pretty picture. Since I didn't really have a strong argument for the Samsung over the Panasonic, I decided to drill him with questions about the technology. Kraig was patient with my many misconceptions about plasma and spent some time talking about the TV manufacturers, what they specialized in, how their products hold up over time and what other customers thought about them. He said if I purchased the TV and didn't like it, I could bring it back. I never felt pressured (unlike car salesmen) to have to leave the store with a TV, so I thanked him and headed over to the Best Buy across the street. On the way to ask the blue-shirt in the TV section the same questions I had asked Video Only (I love to fact-check between different store's salesmen), I was accosted by a blue-shirt. He mumbled something about Best Buy allowing him to be there and he started quizzing me up on who provides my tv service. Turns out he was trying to have people sign up with DirecTV -- fortunately for me, I already have it and could shoo him on his way. I can only imagine him trying to do the hardsell while I was there to look for TVs. Anyhow, I made it to the TV section and they had the same Panasonic mounted in the corner. I quizzed up their sales guy (who didn't seem to be as knowledgeable about that TV or tvs in general) as Video Only. The TV was also a couple hundred bucks more than Video Only. I decided to go back across the street and asked Kraig more about the TV - what if it didn't fit, what if I don't like the image, what to do if there's a problem, etc. Kraig said that if I didn't like the unit, I could bring it back for a full refund. He asked if I needed it mounted because he could get some professional installers to do that (I didn't since it would just sit on the stand I already have). So, I ended up with the Panasonic TC-P55VT30 55" LCD 3D plasma after a most pleasant sales experience. I quickly had DirecTV switch my standard service to HD (which they actually did within 2 days of me ordering the service -- incredible!) and I'm happy to report that I am watching TV in a whole new light. I didn't realize how terrible my 35" tube was compared to the 55" plasma. It's gorgeous! Anyhow, this is my first ever yelp post (I've been raving about the TV at work and coworkers mentioned that I should post my experience on this site). I easily and heartily recommend Video Only. I was looking to buy a new TV, and I felt pretty confident about the search process at the start (I'm fairly tech savvy). I did a lot of online research, talked to a bunch of my friends, and looked around in different stores. However after a few weeks of this, I had a lot of information but I wasn't converging to any solution ("paralysis by analysis"). I was pretty sure I wanted an LED TV, but I had no idea which model I wanted. I was well into this process by the time I decided to stop by the new Mountain View Video Only store. I had never heard of them (they're a small chain) and their logo looks like its from the 70's, but I thought it certainly couldn't hurt to walk in and look around. I walked out about 90 minutes later cleansed of my TV ignorance by the unbelievable deluge of knowledge I received from the salespeople in the store (especially Tim from whom I would buy every consumer product that I will ever purchase in my life if that were possible). I had a bunch of specific questions about a few somewhat esoteric features of LED TVs (refresh rates, pixel response times, and the like) and they had all of the answers. And I could tell that these guys knew what they were talking about (Again, I'm a techie so I know when salespeople are just making stuff up). Our conversation was invaluable in my TV search. I had walked into the store confused but thinking about getting an LED TV, and I walked out extremely confident and sure I was getting a plasma (one of the models they had on display). I should have paid them some consulting fee for that conversation. I spent the next week thinking about everything I had learned (and verifying that it was true, which it was) and making sure that the TV I looked at in the store was the right one (I researched the specific model and read reviews. I don't make big purchases impulsively). I was ready to buy, but the question was (of course), where to buy from. Everyone will tell you that you need to look online when buying a TV which is exactly what I did. The surprising result was that the Video Only price for my TV was very competitive with the online prices. Fantastic. And If you're so inclined, their in-home service warranties are cheaper than some of the big box stores. The choice was clear. On my second trip into the store, I walked out after about 30 minutes with a fantastic new TV and stand. A few hours later, I was watching sweet sweet HD television on my brand new plasma TV. But most importantly, I was happy with and confident in the decision I had made. I don't know if that would have happened without Video Only in Mountain View. read more

I am also (now) one of the satisfied customers of Video Only after a bad start...... Just before the new year I canceled my purchase order of close to $4000.00 at fry's in Hamilton, Campbell when a friend suggested to me to check the Mt View Video Only store first. well after visiting the store which was a bit to far for me as I live in less than a mile from Campbell's Fry'sa store.... at Video Only the salesman changed my mind on the tv brand name I had in mind but with good intention ,... then the problems started as my delivery did not happend when I was told too, the second appointment for delivery was also missed again and when the order finally came it was incomplete and then I was charge $300.00 additionally, for delivery/ installation even though I already had the wall bracket mounted on the wall and moved the furniture s away for easy set ( I was told delivery and installation is free) and if they have to put bracket on the wall then the charges apply,...I still can understand if a there was a min. charges of $100.00 or so, just because of insurance issues, or connecting few simple extra plugs connection...but not $300. yet that was not all, the picture quality of the tv was not what I expected and weeks went by for the rest of the order to come in though every week I was promised next week, never happen....appointments after appointments were missed and my time wasted, aggravated, disappointed and feeling itI had made a bad decision to go there and as I was about to go on the web and register my dissatisfaction with this store.....The good things start happening when I called the district Mgr to inform him of my experience, surprisingly and happily I immediately felt I am talking to some one who is genuinely on my side and feel responsible and only after a short time I was contacted by the Mt View store mgr who not only expressed his sincere apology for all that has happened, he has since done all he could do to correct the wrong and make me a satisfied customer, ( such a great trustworthy and pleasant mgr with integrity) Only if I had met him first. js read more

Don't ever buy at Video Only. They sell you refurbished televisions as new ones. My TV died after one year of used. The warranty was a joke, although there was nothing to laugh about as it was a nightmare dealing with the warranty company. read more
