My birthday is in December and every year I love to celebrate with a Black Forest Cake. I had gone to Costco and didn't see any there, and then I ordered from somewhere closer to me, and the other place did not even let me know they didn't have a whole cake available, and instead they sent me a stale small piece of cake. I was so disappointed, and on top of that, I had just spent the three days prior to my birthday dealing with backyard flooding because the drains were clogged. Things happen for a reason because all of the above mentioned events led to how I ran across Vienna Pastry! I read the reviews on yelp and I saw that they had beautiful photos of their cakes, so I ordered one regular sized Black Forest cake, and three of the mini black forest cakes. I figured if the regular size wasn't available, at least I could still get my yearly Black Forest fix in! I was pleasantly surprised when my order was delivered quickly to me, and still cold! The cake is GORGEOUS and when I cut into it, the layers were perfectly layered and so DELICIOUS. Not only that, my order arrived with a hand written note and some cookies thrown in. I am so grateful for Vienna Pastry for making my birthday special! I didn't get a photo of the minis, but those were just as beautiful and perfect. I bought a black forest cake from here yesterday (saturday) for mother's day. It was amazing!!! It's the best black forest cake I've ever had. I'd argue it's the best black forest cake in los angeles. The cherry filling made the cake so moist. The chocolate was so rich. Joseph is very friendly and nice. This place has a variety of goodies from cakes to cookies. I ordered a goodie box via too good to go. This is inside a corporate building. You walk in past the elevators and make a right. There are signs that instruct you where to go. I really enjoyed the sprinkle cookies and the almond croissant. Vienna Pastry is a gem in the neighborhood! I recently moved to the area and was craving a good chocolate cake. I stumbled on this place and the owner told me that they used to be on Santa Monica for 75 YEARS but during the pandemic, they had to move out. They are now located inside a building on wilshire and bundy. The owner is so nice and he explained to me the different types of cakes and pastries they offer in store. He told me that the previous owner was from Vienna and that his family took over afterwards. I got the chocolate mousse cake and it was so so good. It wasn't super sweet at al. The flavor was a balance of chocolate, coffee, and salt. The cake texture was soft and the frosting was creamy instead of grainy like the ones you get from the market. The owner also gave me a fruit tart and yum! The crust was solid and not soggy, the creamy was not super sweet, and the fruit was fresh and cut fresh daily. I'll be coming back but do have them cater your next personal or business event! read more

My husband and I stumbled in on this little shop hidden in a business building on Wilshire. I had an appointment nearby and being from Long Beach I wasn't too familiar with the area so I just googled the nearest place to get a cup of coffee. Though it's not a sit-down cafe it's a gem of a little pastry shop. The owner was very friendly in that kind of super-chill casual way that makes you feel immediately comfortable. The almond milk lattes he made for us were smooth and delicious!0 To our surprise, they also had miniature vegan cakes in the freezer that we took home to thaw and eat later. They were not only delicate and beautiful to look at, but they were unexpectedly delicious! I say "unexpectedly"because it's not a primarily vegan bakery, yet these cakes were better than a lot of actual vegan bakery cakes I've tried. This is one of the best bakery shops in Los Angeles. It has tradition and the owners take pride in their works. It's not corporate owned. The same owners have been in this business for decades. The quality of pastries and cakes is excellent. The most unfortunate thing is the location. This store used to have its own easy-access location. But because of the Wuhan Coronavirus pandemic, they had to give up their original location and moved to this current location, which is hidden inside a large building on Wilshire Blvd. Just walk to the reception desk in the lobby, turn right and follow the sign to the store. I highly recommend this bakery (and I am very picky when it comes to quality pastries and cakes). Customer service is also excellent here. read more

Sadly I will have to update my thoughts on this business and how things are handled. I was originally looking forward to the individual cakes I ordered. Here is the complicated and disappointing situation. I called this yesterday (Monday) to order 3 napoleon individuals and 3 chocolate FUDGE individuals (I emphasis the fudge because, like the last review stated, we do not like any type of mousse frosting/filling) after speaking to Fernando (I think that was the name, could have been Francisco or something similar) I was told he would check with the baker that the individual fudge cakes were something they can do since it is not usually a ready to order item. He said he was not worried about the napoleons because they keep a few in the freezer. He then said that when he checks with the baker he will call me back if it is something they cannot do, and if they don't call me then it is not an issue. I hung up but then realized what was said about the napoleons being in the freezer. So I called back to ask that it is made fresh the day of the order. He said that is fine and noted it down. The next day (day of pickup) I got a call in the morning but did not get a chance to call back until later in the afternoon. When a woman answered she said they did not make my order because it was not confirmed when they called me in the morning. I was not happy and told her I spoke to someone twice before her, i asked why that would be a reason to not make it and they could have left a voicemail at the very least. She then switched it to "well we did the fuge cakes". So i ended up getting frozen napoleons. To top the interaction off, when my dad picked up the order Fernando (or w.e. his name is) decides it is ok to tell him how complicated he thinks i am. Anyways, once it was time to eat the cakes we see that it isn't a fudge cake at all, instead it was the mousse cake I specifically did not want. It went to waste and the service really didnt help anything. You can see in the picture I attached that it is clearly a mousse cake. Best linzer tart cookies in LA. Yes, even better than Bea's in Reseda. Sadly, a tough location to find. Well worth it to find, however. New location: INSIDE the office building on the North corner of Bundy and Wilshire. The baked goods are the same excellent quality as the old location, and from what I can tell the same variety of goods. Cakes are as artful and beautiful as before. For those of you who remember the art deco storefront on Wilshire and 12th, those days are gone. The new location is now one of those office building deli sort of places, which I thought did not have sandwiches, but I have been corrected that they make paninis and cold sandwiches. I saw the reviews about this being a cute small business and I wanted to support as well so... here I am!! It's my boyfriend's birthday and I wanted to get him something unique. The tiramisu was delightful. Perfectly fluffy, faintly sweet, with a hint of coffee. The fruit tart was out of this world. I'm not someone who eats fruit tarts but they looked so fresh i had to try it. the crust was *chefs kiss*. Pecan bars were so good they tasted homemade. Not like that processed pecan taste that most pecan bars taste like #IYKYK. and apparently the cookie was so good that my boyfriend ate both immediately. i wouldn't know bc i didn't taste it but it's his bday so we aren't mad! just a teeeeeny bit jealous :) also i am unemployed rn and have almost no money. We live near by so the location is convenient for us. I called so many places in LA asking if they make 'Sachertorte' and this was one of the only places that did and they use almond paste (which is not used in the traditional recipe). I had my doubts but my boyfriend really wanted that type of cake for his birthday so I decided to give it a chance and I personally enjoyed it. My boyfriend, who had the cake back in Europe, really enjoyed it as well but could taste the almond paste. He did not love that part but he also did not mind it :) of course he also understands that we are in America so some of the recipes will be changed.
