I've never been here even though I frequent this center. Tucked away in the corner next to the ballet company and another restaurant, this is something special. I had a craving for something light, but substantial and full of flavor. The perfect solution. This bowl had noodles on the bottom, fresh prawns, grilled chicken, cucumber, matchstick carrots and fresh basil on top. Also came with two sauces, one vinegar based and one, my favorite hot and spicy. The gentleman who took my order was so polite and accommodating. He even sought me out in the parking area to deliver my order before I even thought it would be ready. I will be back, and can't wait to try more offerings. read more

Order the chow fun noodles with your pho! YUM!!!! I've love pho and have been to many pho restaurants in the Bay Area. One standout is Pho Element in San Mateo, easily the best in the Bay Area. The one thing that was so unique about Pho Element was that they served their Pho with wide noodles that were so delicious! I spoke with one of the young ladies at Viet House and asked if they had wide noodles. She said "yes" and that the wide noodles were more common in the Northern part of Vietnam. She said, just order and ask for "chow fun noodles with your pho." And voila! I got the same kind of wide noodles I have been craving from Pho Element, right here in my backyard! Also of note, you can upgrade to filet mignon beef vs standard beef. The Pho Ga (chicken in chicken broth) is quite good too! Outside dining and if you get take out, the soup and meat come in a decent sized container you can eat out of and all you have to do is drop in the noodles. read more

We had a wonderful meal at Viet House! This is a great place to come for a winter meal on the patio because of their wonderful hot Pho. They served us hot water with lemon too in beautiful cups, which was a nice touch. While the food was delicious, our favorite part was the service. I'm psyched that there's finally Vietnamese in Sebastopol, and even more psyched that it turned out to be good! This place is somewhat hidden, tucked away at the back of the parking lot next to my PT center... so that I must pass it on the way to appointments and salivate at the luscious aromas it exudes. When finally I was tempted into eating there, it did not disappoint. I had the vegetable noodle stir fry minus the kale--or, in other words, perfection on a plate. Of all the world's cuisine, this is one of my favorite dishes so I've tried many different versions; this one was in the top two. The veggies were done just right, sauce was savory and garlicky, tofu was plentiful and and fried golden, and they didn't skimp on the noodles. The lot was topped off with fresh cilantro and what seemed like bits of crispy onion--yum! Love the cucumber water on a hot day. Very refreshing. Our server was polite and professional. My lunch companion has food allergies, and she was helpful, asking what exactly said allergies were, and letting us know what ingredients were in what dishes. The restaurant itself is very modern, peaceful, and quiet. There's also an outdoor patio with plenty of umbrellas, which would be pleasant to make use of in the summer months. I'll definitely be back for more noodles, and possibly some vegetable gyoza, and/or spring rolls. read more

We went for dinner after a movie, it was a Sunday night and it had many tables (promising!) There were only 2 servers working the floor (chapeau! my friends, that was impressive) they obviously needed help but they did a great job for being short handed. Walked in on a weekend around noon with 2 friends. First impression; the place was empty. Lots of tables, one employee. We got seated quickly, but that's all that was quick. Ordered beef pho, spring rolls and tofu vermicelli. After quite a wait the server finally came and took the order. She brought a ziploc bag with the fixings for both soups so we had to sort them out ourselves and she brought a few little packages of siracha, soy and hoisin. When the food finally came the broth was kind of tasteless, the veggies in the veg soup weren't cooked and the noodles in the vermicelli were extremely oily. It took forever to get the bill and we could see the server standing and talking to her friend at the bar. Overall a disappointing experience. There are far better Vietnamese places in the county. read more

We enjoyed our meal. The food was fresh and delicious. Arrived quickly. My only criticism is our server was wearing clothing that reeked of laundry fabric softener smell. That is a total turnoff in every way to people who have chemical sensitivity. It detracts from good natural smells from appetizing good. Also I used the bathroom and they had a foul smelling plug in smell emitter that I could taste in my mouth for 10 minutes after I left. Please be aware many people can't stand these VOC scents and eliminate them from your restaurant. Otherwise I loved the pho. read more

This restaurant has definitely changed ownership or something since the last time I was here. I came hoping to have a quick vermicelli bowl before work and found the restaurant less than half full. I sat at the bar and perused the menu and was disappointed to find that the prices had gone way up. $16 for grilled pork and egg rolls? However, that's what I was craving so I ordered it hoping it would be delicious. Sadly, the food took an unreasonably long time (at least 25 minutes!) and was hardly worth the wait. The egg roll was over cooked and almost burnt in some places and the bowl was served with a minuscule amount of fish sauce. The pork was tasty but I didn't have time to finish my meal. The service was good, though, and I sensed that the servers were as frustrated with the slow kitchen as the customers. read more

Gave this place another shot after the name change and, I think, change in ownership. As usual, I chose the Pho to base my review off of and, I've got to say, I'm convinced the quality is different enough to update my review. I can't claim that it's the best broth I've had, but it definitely serves as a good decent bowl of Pho. I picked the small, beef Pho and the serving size was perfect for me (I usually eat a bit less than normal but more frequently). So if you have a bigger appetite, I would advise you choose the regular sizes over the smalls. All in all, a decent Pho spot for the regular fan. Will be back when I'm in town. read more

My favorite restaurant in all of Sebastopol! Lilly and her crew are so friendly and kind, the food comes out hot & fresh everytime. Get the spring rolls (bbq pork & spring), crispy egg rolls, kimchi lettuce wrap and edamame to start. Try their kimchi as an additional side, it's so good! Then try their beef pho, it's so amazing and the meats are always top quality. My husband loves their vermicelli bowl with bbq pork, bbq chicken and the beef onion wrap. Wow! Fantastic and delicious and they have vegan and vegetarian menu. From the moment we entered we felt welcomed and received excellent service. Our waitress Mary was super helpful by helping us pick and choose the various options. We all have our own dietary likes and needs...she was accommodating and understood our choices. First we had the delicious cucumber water,,followed by wonderful assortment of teas...then the fabulous refreshing avocado rolls and steamed veggie Goyza is so so good,,,,,I had the veggie soup,,,very very good...my daughter had the beef pho..she said it was excellent. And my husband had pork and eggroll rice dish. He said it was very good,,,the sauces were all very nice...the atmosphere is quite nice too. Comfortable pretty and warm environment. Great prices too. This review is solely for their service. We arrived for dinner around 7:40pm on a Sunday. They only had two waitstaff working - one managing the inside, the other handling the seats outside - and they clearly need additional staff. Many of the tables inside needed to be bussed, but we were finally seated and provided menus. We left after being seated for 20 minutes - no water showed up, and no one came by to take our order. The waiter managing the inside was struggling with drink and meal orders for tables that had been seated long before us, closing out other tables, and serving food. We might be back at a later date to try the food, in hopes they've sorted out their service issues. read more

This place seems to have improved with time. As others have mentioned, on my first visit service was slow and uneven - several minutes before we were acknowledged and took a long time to get food. My last visit was a pleasant improvement. Greeted soon after we arrived and seated promptly. Got water almost immediately. The main menu is pretty meat heavy so be sure to look for the second menu if you are vegetarian or vegan (not sure why they just don't print it on the back of the main menu). Even so, limited options for vegans here. My dining companion, a vegan had the tofu spring rolls with peanut sauce. I had the chicken noodle soup. I love that they bring the fresh jalapenos, bean sprouts and lime to let you decide how much of each you want in the soup. Our server even asked me if I wanted more of them as I used them all, which was a nice offer. The large soup is big, had lots of noodles and chicken in a tasty broth. As others have mentioned, I LOVE that they have the hot chili sauce on the table as well as Sriracha. Lets me make my dishes as spicy as I want without relying on the kitchen. Service was attentive and quick, which was lacking in my first visit so I'm glad it has improved. Worth a try if your looking for something different. Be aware that like Hole in the Wall nearby, this place is hidden from the street in the back of the little shopping plaza with Starbucks and Subway, so don't expect to see the restaurant sign from the road, you'll need to park and walk around the place to find it. read more
