Do yourself a favor and check out this new spot if you're in Monrovia! My husband and i have been on a bahn mi binge and we decided to give this place a try before we went to the movies. We came on a Saturday evening around 6pm and were immediately seated. We ordered the egg rolls and a bbq pork bahn mi and a beef bahn mi. The egg rolls came out first which were a perfect ratio of meat, vegetables and noodles(i think). The dipping sauce also complemented really well. But the star of the show was the Bahn mi. For $7.35 you get 2 huge portions of bahn mi with fresh veggies, jalapeños and fresh, not frozen meat. (Rebecca, who i think was the owner, served us the sandwiches and let us know that.) The beef bahn mi was amazing! You can't beat that price, quality or portion size for $7.35! (Also, disclaimer, we tried Saigon Avenue's bahn mi, which across the street from Viet Phomula, and it doesn't compare anywhere near to this sandwich. Saigon Avenue's was more money for less sandwich..didn't taste as amazing as this!) Lunch time on a rainy Sunday. We were warmly greeted and quickly sat. Two thumbs up for that. We shared an order of shrimp spring rolls which were good enough but lacking flavor, same with the dipping sauce. We both ordered the N1 Viet Pho Super Bowl which was excellent and delivered to us quickly. They had lots of flavor and heavy with meat! Service could be better, never asked if we wanted refills on our hot tea, never brought my boyfriends water, took very long to clear our dishes and bring our check. The bathroom was awful. When biting into it, is when I realized its too raw. Combination fried rice had chicken, Chinese' sausages, and five shrimp. It actually had more meat than rice. It taste okay. Egg rolls, a serving comes in four rolls. It was perfectly crunchy and the fillings tasted fresh. Pork spring rolls, one serving includes two rolls, fish sauce, and lettuce. The filing only has lettuce, rice noodles and the pork. It had no crunch factor and the meat taste old. Rice noodles with egg roll and pickled veggies, it taste pretty bland. The rice noodles had some hardened part. However, their fish sauce is made with perfect saltiness and sweet. If I have a graving for egg rolls, I may return. This review is based on a delivery experience. I ordered the appetizer plate that's comes with spring rolls, rocket shrimp, and egg rolls. I did not care for the egg rolls. It was okay, but I wouldn't order it again. The rocket shrimp was simple, but the sauce on the side makes all the difference. I really enjoyed the spring rolls though. I had beef as my choice of meat and it was not bland (aka actually seasoned) unlike how some places make them. There's also a bit of crunch in the rolls which was refreshing and made it tasty. Affordable Vietnamese restaurant with delicious food and 5 star service. The service is spectacular! Very pleasant and attentive, better than most $$$ restaurants.. The prices are very affordable and the portions are plentiful and filling. Their dishes are all beautifully plated and well executed! I've been eating Pho since I was 5 years old. Over the many years I've tried many, many Pho restaurants. The good things about this restaurant first. Cute small little place, with only one server. The tap water surprisingly tasted like filter water. The egg rolls were not bad, kinda sweeter than other places. I order the Superbowl that came with everything. The flavor of the soup was pretty tasty, but...and it's a big BUT. The meats were dried and over cooked. I'd always ask for the rare slices of beef on the side, but they cooked it and gave it to me in a bowl. That was weird, but it could be my broken Vietnamese. I didn't know i'd ask for extra beef, because I thought I'd asked for the ribeye slice to replace the regular slices of beef, but got both. I come to find out the extra ribeye chunks, not sliced were $9, when I'd paid. It was not fresh at all, the meat was old, and dark looking, and it did not taste good at all. The service was very nice but since she was the only server, she was all over the place. I had ordered extra tripes but didn't get any. I never received my ice tea I'd ordered either. The Superbowl of pho was average size but it was $17 plus the extra meat for $9. I think that's way too expensive for a good bowl of Pho'. I'm not sure I'm coming back here. read more

We arrived around 6:30 pm in a Monday, place was empty; the kid with hair loss was unfriendly he didn't say a word just thrown off the menus, then he just asked if we were ready to order, we ordered the vegetarian pho en the vegetarian rolls first he brought a plate with spring rolls I told him that we ordered the vegetarian fried rolls, he took them back and he brought the regular egg rolls with meat, we didn't want to ask him again to take them back no big deal, so he delivery the pho after, during our time there no he never checked on us, he was sitting at the register watching his phone all the time, one of the employees or cooks took a sit and eat his food next to us, and just right after he was done, he proceeded to smoke his cigarette just out of the door. All the smoke and smell came inside, was really discovering and uncomfortable eating like that, when we were done eating again he never checked on us, we paid at the register and he charged me the spring rolls that he brought first. I pointed out ti him and he just said oh! And he gave $10 cash from the cashier. Not even a thank you for coming. Probably the worst Vietnamese food I've ever had. So, it's take out, I understand that these are not the best of circumstances to prepare food and all that, but how hard is it to make vermicelli noodles and grilled pork? The noodles had not been properly hydrated. They crumbled on the tongue. Seriously? These noodles are supposed to be gummy and silky, and warm. Instead these noodles were cold, dry, and crumbled in your mouth. The pork, meanwhile, was a bland medium brown color. No grill marks, no char marks, nothing indicating anything other than a quick spin in the microwave oven. Dude, this is just unacceptable. I ate about one fifth of it, hoping to find flavor. It didn't happen. Meanwhile, the beef pho we ordered featured a mediocre broth and a tiny serving of meat... and this was in a large serving. I am a Doordash driver. I went in to pick up an order. She said it was busy, I asked for an ETA, she couldn't tell me. 12 minutes after the assigned pickup time I ask try to narrow down how long of a wait so I can notify the customer, she says 30 minutes. WOW. OK I am not paid to wait that long, I called the customer to let them know, I contacted Doordash to see about extra pay for waiting, they gave me some, and I went back in. Been to this location before, they changed their name but I'm not sure if it's under new ownership. I wanted to see what was new and if it was worth the visit back. The food definitely needs help if they want to survive. They ran out of limes and bean sprouts to accompany our pho and we never received our request for more basil as a compromise. We never got checked up on and service was below basic. We also received our check in offer for Thai tea, and it made my throat burn. Possibly some low quality ingredients and powders, tea was below basic as well. Don't be fooled with the 4.5 stars, it's definitely due to the surrounding neighborhood. People look for things to complain bout because they think every place is Burger King. What you have to understand about Pho is they put your meat inside your broth...so when you ask for a different meat after the waitress said "he made it" they now have to make you a new one. You don't have to be rude about it and respond in a hostile manner. Asking politely if you could change your meat gets you a faster result.
