GREAT FOR WHAT IT IS. After going to Yoshinoya so many times for some cheap and fast food, I got tired and wanted to try something different. Every time I went to Yoshinoya, I passed by this Thai restaurant in this plaza that I didn't even know existed. So one day, I decided to give it a try.... and I'm so glad I did! What surprised me so much about this place was the price of everything. At $13.99 each for their Pad Thai and Drunken noodles, you are NOT going to find that price anywhere in this area with today's prices lol. Is the food here at the level of President Thai on Rosemead? No. But for the price you're paying, I'm really impressed and the food is still pretty good. At their ~$14 price point, they're also giving their big-chain neighbor, Yoshinoya, a run for their money too. They also have a BOGO free Thai Tea so don't forget to take advantage of that! What I want to harp on and warn everyone about though, is that the restaurant seemed very hot inside. I came at 2:30 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon in the summer and it seemed like they didn't have any AC working. Luckily, I ordered for take-out, but I definitely would not have been comfortable eating in the restaurant. I felt their portion sizes could be a bit bigger. I know I praise their low prices, but maybe that is the small trade-off--I felt those to-go boxes could be filled up a bit bigger! But minor harps aside (at least for me) I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for cheap and fast Thai food. Stopped by during my lunch break and the service was quick and easy. I was able to walk right in and grab a seat right away. There was a young man and a young woman working the counter and they were both polite and took my order quickly, which I appreciated since I was on a time crunch. The restaurant itself was pretty quiet when I visited. They had a TV on inside and the space had a few booths and a couple of tables. I didn't notice any outdoor seating. I ordered the lunch special for $12.99, which came with pad Thai, white rice, wonton chips, a salad, and soup. The pad Thai was okay, although I've definitely had more flavorful versions before. I asked for a side of limes and that actually helped bring out the flavor a bit more. The wonton chips were great and came with a delicious sauce on top. The soup and salad were both really tasty and flavorful. Overall, it was a good meal for a reasonable price. This was actually my first time dining in at the restaurant, and flavor-wise it's definitely just as good as I remembered. Solid prices and good tasting food overall. When I first arrived, I honestly thought it was closed since it was dark and empty, but it turns out they have a side dining room separate from the main entrance. I loved coming to this place as a high schooler! They had cheap BOGO boba drinks. Food: 4/5 Came here for their lunch special. It did not disappoint. Their lunch special items came with salad, soup, wonton crisp, rice, and the entree. The green curry was spicy and flavorful. I love the fried eggplant they put in it. The Pad Thai was really good. I also liked their the salad dressing that came with their salad. Their combination fried rice was nothing special. I would recommend sticking to their lunch specials. I really like their drinks, the Thai iced coffee was strong and sweet. Price: 5/5 Their lunch special is only $10.99 for beef, chicken, or pork and like a dollar more for shrimp and seafood. At the current 3.5 average rating, I'd say it's pretty accurate, but it's easy to round up to a 4. Tucked away in the corner of a small plaza, behind BMC and Yoshinora is Chillin' Thai. They have been here for many years, and at first glance, it shows. The decor is pretty dated and the seats, tables legs show it's age. Menus have a sturdy cover, but the paper inside are ripped. If you can overlook all that, then you'll enjoy the food a bit more. They offer lunch specials with a decent portion at a good price. We tried their red curry and ground chicken with mint leaves specials, both typical dishes you'll find In any Thai restaurant. Each order comes with soup and a side salad. The salad was very refreshing, chilled to a nice temperature and served with a sweet dressing. The hot soup was also good, providing a contrast to the chilled salad. Our entrees were both good. I'm not saying they were excellent or authentic, but tasty enough for us to enjoy. We chose medium spice level for both, and they both came with a nice bit of heat. They also offer a BOGO seal for certain drinks, so we both got a Thai tea. During the weekday lunch hours, we were the first ones in, but a steady flow of customers rolled in shortly after. The friendliness of the servers made this a pleasant dining experience. For me, Chillin' Thai is a good place to grab a quick lunch at a great price. Tried this spot recently and overall had a solid experience. The chicken larb was really good. I asked for x4 spice level and they definitely delivered. Great flavor and heat. The only thing is their larb has quite a bit of sauce. I'm more used to a drier style, but it was still tasty. I also tried a couple of the BBQ dishes and their chicken wings. They were good, but it seems like they cater more to the American palate. All of the meats came covered in a sweet BBQ style sauce. That surprised me because the photos make it look like simple grilled meat. I was expecting something more traditional and just grilled, so I was a little disappointed to see it lathered in sauce. I started ordering takeout from here after trying it off of DoorDash and have been a fan of their takeout service. They get the food ready within 10-15 minutes and everything is packed really well! They will use foil inside the styrofoam box to keep the food hot and also secure all the boxes well to prevent spills of sauces out of the boxes if it gets tipped over during the car ride. I've never tried dine in but they have a dining area that has about 8-10 small tables. The ladies at the register are friendly. They have BOGO milk tea, Thai tea, green tea and jasmine tea for $3.00, really good deal! However if you are only buying drinks, it is cash only unless you want to pay $1 for the credit card processing fee. read more

First time trying this place and the flavors did not disappoint. I loved all the food. We ordered the Crab Wontons, Chicken Pad See Ew, Fried Rice and Orange Chicken. The Chicken Pad See Ew was so filling and it paired perfectly with the Fried Rice. They had a good portion of food where we were able to serve four people. We loved how hot and ready everything was and how friendly the staff was. The restaurant felt so welcoming and it gave you the home feeling. This place is ridiculous. I ordered food for my toddler and for some reason it is spicy. We didn't order spice. I called to ask them to remake the food and I would return the order they made. They refused. Obviously they didn't clean their cooking utensils or reused a pan that was previously used for a spicy dish. I have to admit that I was hesitant about coming here based upon their newest Yelp reviews. The complaints were mostly about their customer service. I did not have the same experience as the previous reviews. Our server was the hostess and cashier. She was very courteous and attentive. We had a wonderful experience with her. Since I saw a grade A rating on their window, I chose to eat here despite a previous review stating it was a hole in the wall. Numerous hole in the walls have awesome food. I am very thankful that we chose to eat here. I was happy to see that they had a lunch special that was offered 7 days a week, and even if it was Labor Day weekend. The lunch special came with a soup, salad, fried won ton skins, a choice of white or fried rice and the lunch special entree. The Thai iced tea was buy one get one free. I enjoyed their spicy sour coconut soup. I liked that they didn't skimp on their salad dressing, because it was quite yummy. I was disappointed to receive fried won ton skins, since the menu stated that the lunch special came with fried won tons. A lot of places serve a somewhat dry Pad Thai, and so I usually ask for extra peanut sauce on the side. Their Pad Thai had a nice amount of sauce within it. I didn't have to ask for extra sauce. They gave a very generous lunch special entree. I ended up taking more than half of it home. My husband also enjoyed his medium spicy red curry lunch special. In fact, he was the one telling me that I should mention that they did not just drizzle a little amount of dressing on the salad. He also stated that the picture of the bowl of red curry did not show everything that was within the bowl. Therefore, I took a picture of his plate. He poured the red curry on top of his white rice. The price for their lunch special is 5 stars. The customer service that we received was also 5 stars. My husband said that he would order the red curry again. My pad Thai was 4 stars only because the noodles were not al dente. I had to ask for my fork to be replaced, because there was a small piece of dried food stuck to it. It would have been a nicer experience, if they could place their boxes within a storage area. The men's bathroom did not have any paper towels. We like this place because of its location and ease to order to go. We typically get the fried wontons, pad see ew, pad Thai, steamed rice, and house fried rice. We sometimes get the chicken satay. Either way, we are close enough to have it fresh at home and we enjoy it. The veggies in the pad see ew or pad Thai are crispy and not soggy. It makes for a great lunch or dinner. Updating Review Went from a 4-5 star (loved their authentic flavors and the Thai workers were so nice) to a 2 star because of the declining service quality... I've attached screen shots as well for the owner or management to see. I called at 8:34pm on 9/11/21 to place an order, I was already outside, but didn't want to walk in due to COVID-19, and was going to walk in real quick when the food was ready. The Hispanic girl that picked up, said that they were closed. I can clearly see customers waiting for their to go order and the Yelp and Google page both say they close at 9, so I said, "I thought you guys close at 9", and she said to the effect, "we decide when we close our kitchen." Before I could say anything else, she said, "have a good night, bye." And hung up. Closing half an hour before you're actually closed?! Even at big restaurants, I can see the kitchen taking last orders 10-15 minutes before closing; and how long would it take to cook one pad see ew, 3-5 minutes? and not taking that order half an hour before closing blows my mind, honestly, at my store we take customers right up to the minute we close, and help them well past closing time. read more

I would understand if it was busy but there was literally one family there and they were not busy. He said their policy is if a customer orders takeout they can't eat in the restaurant. It isn't a fancy place by any means and I've eaten at much nicer establishments but you can't beat the price for all that food. The green curry was decent and spicy just how I prefer it. I got a huge pile of steamed rice and got my delicous curry all mixed in. The crispy wonton was a nice touch and I looooved the soup. Our service wasn't that bad but it wasn't 5 star attentive. We were there to eat lunch and be on our way. I noticed right after 12 it started to get really busy for the lunch rush. I've been coming here since before Covid 2020 and I'm never disappointed with their food and portions. I love the yellow and green curries. I was impressed with the kung pao chicken and co workers have ordered other entrees. We work close by and this place is convenient when we crave Thai food.
