Ordered through Uber Eats after a day of traveling via long car ride. I always love ordering a bowl of pho to rejuvenate myself when I'm worn out from traveling. I ordered two large chicken pho with mixed meat at $15.99 per bowl. I ordered my pho noodles uncooked because I like the texture of the noodles when I cook it myself at home so they packaged that separately. Upon opening the to go container with chicken, I was completely shocked at the minuscule amount of chicken that was provided. For $16 a bowl, the amount given could be deemed enough for a small bowl. Along with this, I feel like there wasn't a lot of flavor in the broth and came quite bland with no essence of chicken in the broth. I will give props to the packaging and the attention to my special instructions of leaving the noodles uncooked and including picked onions. read more

I recently came back from Vietnam and was craving some Bò Né. However, I prefer the beef cuts to be thin rather than cubed so I was searching for a restaurant that made it with thin slices. I came across Viet Soul during my search and was happy to find they had it the way I like it. I was also very pleased to see how close it is to my house. Anyways, I went the other day to finally get it for breakfast and it was soooo delicious! Dare I say almost as good as the one I had in Vietnam. So we've eaten here a few times and also ordered takeout. Takeout: The combination sandwich is decent and the Bo Ne had a good flavor. The bread is a little over-toasted. But both times we ordered the popcorn chicken, it was burnt. Dine-In: The pho broth is flavorful and a little on the sweet side, but we only got two slices of brisket in the large bowl. I also ordered the Shaking Beef with Fried Rice and some pieces were very well done, while some were medium rare. I added a fried egg that was actually over cooked. The saving grace of this dish is the corn in the fried rice because I am a BIG FAN of corn in rice. Fresh spring rolls were meh. And it was the last dish to get to our table. The peanut sauce was okay, a little excess on peanut butter. There aren't very many Viet restaurants in the area so even though it's been "alright" food, I'd probably be back because it's the better of the options around here. Not authentic Viet restaurant despite the name!! We order 2 dishes: bo ne and bun thit nuong, and none of them taste good. Bo ne was overly over sweet, I gave up after 2 pieces of meat, ended up eating the bread, veggie plate along with pate/butter. The only good thing was pate, that was it! It was the worst bo ne I have ever eaten. My husband got the grilled meat noodle bowl and he didn't like it as well. It was not authentic at all. I placed an order for 4 large beef phos, egg rolls, and spring rolls. I was told 20 minutes, place was 10 minutes from me. Waited 15 before heading out, figured I'd give them a little more time than they said. Got there in 10 minutes, paid (came out to 61$ and some change.) Well unfortunately for me the food wasn't ready, they said a few more minutes. I sit down with my partner and start scrolling thru tiktok. When I arrived at the place there was two other people sitting waiting for their food, and they did not look happy, which pretty much gave me the sense that I would be waiting longer than I'd like. In the first 10 minutes of me arriving, one of the people waiting for their food got it and left. 5 minutes after that, a group of 5 enter the restaurant, are seated, and served their drinks. The other person waiting for their food also gets up and asks about their order, he's told 2 minutes. 10 minutes after that, the guy waiting for his food gets it (in the later of those 10) and the group of five gets served their entire meals. Another 2 groups of three enter the restaurant and are seated. 15 minutes later, after I've patiently waited for the food I haven't received I get up and ask the lady at the counter, "hey I've been waiting for a to go order. . ." She cuts me off and points at the seat behind me and says, "ok just take a seat". I respond, "no ma'am, I've been waiting here for 40 minutes now, I just wanna know how much longer for my food?" She says something to the other lady working the counter with her in a language I don't know and then walks back to the kitchen. She comes out (no lie) 2 seconds later giving me the peace sign. I say, "two minutes?" And she nods her head yes. I take my seat with my partner again and five minutes later the lady brings us our food. As I leave I look at my phone, 7:15p, I go back to my phone log and see that I made my order at 6:15p. It's been an hour since I placed my order and about 35 minutes since I arrived and paid. I was told my order would be ready in 20 minutes on the phone. -- For this experience alone, I would never be returning to this restaurant again. I know this is only my experience considering the group of 5 that arrived and was served their meals within 15 minutes, I sure their service varies per customer. -- Now let's talk about their food. MID at best. Me and the others eating the food I ordered thought the same. The pho was bland. The spring roles were good but the peanut sauce they served with it was as watery as the broth and even more bland. I personally didn't like their egg rolls, but my group enjoyed them. The "veggies" they typically serve with pho where mainly bean sprouts, only two slices of lemons (half a lemon) per bag (two bags), and about 5 basil leaves per bag. The prices were average as well, about 12$ (large option). 2$ extra for additional meat options (overpriced imo). And that brings me to the serving size! They had bowls at the restaurant indicating the size difference in bowls. The large size we ordered would fit spaciously in their small bowl. Honestly as soon as I opened the bag and looked at the food, I was disappointed. The egg rolls came out and I noticed they were kind of cold and the ends look dried up, so I pinched them all before I told the waitress to give me fresh ones (Just in case they tried to refried them). She takes (them away and then bring my pho. Missing over an inch of soup and with regular brisket(i asked for fatty brisket). Then she brings my egg rolls a minute later and guess what? As a new resident in Richmond, it can be said I'm not too impressed with the restaurants in the area unfortunately. With that being said, even though fellow Yelpers have given this place pretty good review, I have to say it was overall pretty bland for me. If you want to be healthy and eat with lighter flavors, definitely get the chicken pho and spring rolls. I liked the shrimp spring rolls and grilled chicken spring rolls which tasted fresh and good. I like the savory type of pho and this one was flat for me. I ended up putting salt and sriracha (which I usually never do to pho because I want to taste the pho itself and not dilute it with sauce), and it was better. The interior atmosphere was nice, as it was overall a pretty quiet restaurant. The waitress was also very soft-spoken as well. Even the guests were pretty quiet. The restaurant looks clean, and the interior design is unique. I went on Monday shortly after it opens, and there was a good 2-3 tables of people there surprisingly. With that being said, I'm not sure if I want to head back anytime soon because the food wasn't that impressive for me. read more

Neat little place I was craving a Bahn Mi and since I live so far from China town in Houston I found this place near my home and decided to try it. The Sandwiches were ok not the best, I've had better ones in Chinatown but perfect to satisfy a craving, they weren't bad really I'm just used to the ones in Chinatown. We moved to Richmond a few years ago and found this place. It's really good overall. I would give it a 5 stars but recently the sriracha flavor has changed. But recently we ordered a Thai Tea without ice and gave us a 1/3 cup of it . It cost $4.50 without tax. It taste good but not worth the price for the amount. I walked in at dinner time but there wasn't even one customer. I had to walk up to the counter to get a menu and seat myself. There were nothing but children working there. I was shocked to have a waiter that couldn't be more then 12 years old. The service was polite but not friendly. There were no smiles, no warmth and zero words other than what was absolute necessary. The pho was very high priced. It came out warm, but lacking flavor. The little bit of meat that was in my bowl was the worst quality I've ever seen. It was mostly bristle and fat. Despite the area, the prices are a bit higher for Vietnamese food. Regardless, I still crave their sizzling steak and eggs (bo ne). I generally only come here to eat the steak and eggs in addition to an order of spring rolls because I could easily go to Pho Saigon or other nearby Viet places that are cheaper for pho or a rice platter. As for the food, I enjoy their spring rolls mainly due to their peanut sauce being served hot. Spring rolls, for the most part, taste the same wherever you go. The sauce is what makes or breaks it, unless the place stores old spring rolls or their shrimp is not fresh. I'll dip it in some Sriracha as well and it's a good mix of flavors and pretty healthy (for my diet). The sizzling steak and eggs are almost always amazing. It's a bit on the sweeter side and the quality of the beef is decent so it's not tough to bite on. The eggs are normally served over easy so if you prefer otherwise, it would be best to speak up because they're not going to ask you how you want your eggs cooked. It comes on a sizzling platter but some days, it'll come out not really sizzling (disappointing, I know). But I always ask for extra butter and cilantro to go with it. I generally don't eat the salad it comes with. I enjoy cutting the french bread in half and breaking pieces off to slather a generous amount of pate + butter prior to placing steak/egg on top of it with a touch of cilantro. I haven't had this entree anywhere else so if it's not supposed to taste like this, it's still sooooo good. The pho broth is on the sweeter side so I don't prefer it but it's not bad. Not sweet like sugar, but definitely not salty like I prefer at Pho saigon. They also have appetizers like fries and calamari that I haven't really tried or if I did, I forgot about it...so it wasn't exactly memorable. Aside from that, Vietnamese coffee is good but overpriced...If I recall correctly, it's about $5 which is almost half my meal usually so I usually skip out on it. Thai tea is so-so, not what I prefer as it is too milky and sweet in my opinion. Would still recommend this place for those in the neighborhood or wants steak and eggs, but aside from that I would go elsewhere. read more

My first time here and I loved it! The waitress was obviously new but very nice. Small location but very warm and welcoming. The decor is simple and and has a homey feel to it filled with dark and earthy colors. I ordered the pork sandwich which was very satisfying. My SO ordered a plate I don't remember what it was but it looked yummy. It's the second picture. We ordered spring rolls and egg rolls. The spring rolls were filled with rice noodles with served with peanut sauce. These were the best egg rolls I've ever had, though tiny and sliced in half, the sauce they came with was great. Ordering takeout on Yelp through Grubhub was a breeze. My order was ready within 15 min and was waiting for me when I got there! Staff is extremely friendly, a joy to see especially during these hard times. I ordered spring rolls, a noodle bowl with beef and shrimp, and a large pho. The spring rolls and noodle bowl were alright - the rolls were not as tight as I would've liked but all the ingredients were fresh and simple. I had a baby a year ago and haven't been since so today i decided to revisit and I was completely shocked by their management. I got the chicken pho and it was so bland and had absolutely no flavor. i tried adding tons of sauces and lemon but nothing helped. after taking 2 bites I felt uncomfortable paying for something I did not eat. I politely asked the server to excuse the meal off my check and he laughed in my face and told me since it was on my table he wouldn't give me my money back. I went to the manager and the unprofessionalism was very evident. She told me I've probably never even had pho before and that I didn't have a clue what I was talking about. I ordered multiple dishes and can say, I'm happy with everything! -spring rolls (typical roll but the dipping sauce was really good...they add fried garlic pieces to it and it really adds a great texture) -fried calamari (very light batter and served with a sweet and sour sauce that was yummy) -bo ne (like some people said, it would be better with more meat...however it is comparable to bellaire. They add a splash of soy based sauce over it which makes everything blend together great. Pho: The broth did not have a strong flavor of beef. Almost tasted watered down like they were trying to hide the lack of flavor with fish sauce, etc. The meat was okay. Grilled pork spring roll: the grilled pork was overcooked. Sauce was meh. Kimchi fries: Ugh the kimchi fries was such a letdown.
