We live one minute away and we've been going here for years, mainly to-go. The flavor has not changed in many of the dishes that we love. General Tao chicken, Kung pow chicken wonton soup. Spicy bean curd has changed, less peppercorn. Other fine dishes are Pepper Beef, spicy beef, spicy fish, house fried rice, hot and sour soup and egg drop are good. Salt and pepper squid good. Never tried the sushi. If u order something other than what I said, I can't vouch for it. Food always fresh, tastes great too the next day. General Tao cold Service is fine and ambiance is peaceful.

I got some takeout last night consisting of cream cheese puffs, fried rice and a shaggy dog sushi roll. I enjoyed the cream cheese puffs! It was nice and crispy, and I loved the flavor in the cream cheese. There was a unique sauce mixed in that I noticed which I think is what stood out to me. I absolutely LOVED the shaggy dog roll! It was soo well seasoned and again had this saucy-ness to it that just made it taste better than other shaggy rolls that I've had. I will say the fried rice was just okay to me. It was a little dry which made rice seem like it may have been leftover rice but it wasn't terrible just not my favorite.

This place was a hit or miss on some items. I've seen this place close to my house for a long time, but never really thought of trying it, until yesterday. Came here and the place was completely empty, so we got sat right away. Sushi was okay, the one with cooked beef on top was the best out of the three we had. The baos we got were not good, I wouldn't get them again, but I understand that this place isn't a dim sum place. I really liked the beef fried rice tho! It was pretty good. My main complaint was that we saw a chef pick his ear and we didn't know if he washed his hands or not, that was just nasty. I mean, I hope he did, but you never know. Maybe being out in the open for your customers to see you do that AND being a chef, is the wrong move. Overall, not a horrible experience.

Giving them 3 stars is being nice. Food is mediocre and prices are high. There are many restaurants booming in the area so the owners and investors need to go through their menu list and the quality of food. Nothing stood out to me. If anything, it's just the ambiance, friendly servers, and how clean it is. No matter what time you go, you will notice the dining area is never full. Maybe 5 tables at max. It's a shame because within the 2 plazas that are across, they barely have any competition. It if you drive 5 minutes towards Aliana, you're going to notice a lot more options.

Waiters eating while I was waiting for refill then 15 minutes later just wanted to pay and leave

The food was good, I ordered 4 rolls and 2 appetizers but the SERVICE IS HORRIBLE!! Waiter took forever to get our drinks and appetizers. Never asked me if I wanted a refill, and half way through til we finished our meal and was WAITING TO PAY, 3 out of the 4 servers were sitting down eating while I was never got helped to get a refill to waiting 10 minutes for someone to come by to pay so we could finally leave.... Again GOOD FOOD / HORRIBLE SERVICE

The server was new but super sweet and willing to find out anything we asked for. Their customer service was excellent. The ambiance was good. A bit more upscale then the typical Chinese restaurant. The options were great. Both Chinese and Japanese menus with lunch specials. The family enjoyed the food and the portions were great. I'm looking forward to going back. See my pics.

This place is located so conveniently near my house. Every time I come inside it is always dead. The inside decor and ambiance feels very nice and clean. I always go here because I'm craving sushi but don't want to drive far. Their sushi's are fresh. The cuts of fish that I always get are always good. Their sushi rolls are very creative. Most of them are very delicious, however the cuts of rolls are maybe sometimes too generous compared to regular traditional Japanese restaurants. The taste is just slightly above average. Don't get me wrong, there isn't much complaint about this restaurant in general but just stating the fact that it might be a bit too Americanized. I got the Vietnamese spring rolls today and for $6 it was just 2 spring rolls cut in half and it wasn't even Vietnamese spring rolls! If anything, just the rice paper - that's it. Everything was completely different. They had shrimp tempera, lettuce and mango served with Thai chili sauce. It was interesting to say the most. 3/5. Volcano roll 3/5. The crunch was too much and there was so much sauce, drowning it. Baked salmon roll 4/5. This has to be my favorite of the day. The taste is good and the flavors aren't overwhelming. Viva Las Vegas roll. 5/5 for creativity and the portion size. 4/5 for taste. This is just something you'll have to try. Really can't explain it. With that being said, if you like huge portions, creative rolls and a lot of sauce, this might be the place for you. Good taste, not so bad. A strong 3.4/5 rating for me.

How much soy sauce did they use in this? Haha

What really stands out is how fresh…read moreeverything tastes -- the rolls are always made to order, and you can tell they use quality fish and ingredients. A must for us is the Toro Tartare with the Japanese milk bread. The bread completely elevates the dish. My husband and I also love ordering the Bluefin Flight, and the little hand roll that comes with it is always such a nice bonus. The Black Widow Roll is another favorite -- it always comes out warm with lightly fried soft shell crab, cream cheese, snow crab, eel, and avocado on top. The textures and flavors are so good together. Our girls love the simpler rolls that are packed with fish. Some family favorites are the Crunchy Dynamite Roll, Lady Gaga Roll, and the Tokyo Giant Roll -- all super fresh and flavorful. We do ask for the sauce on the side. We've also done hibachi here a couple of times, and it's always a great experience. The hibachi side is kept separate from the sushi restaurant, which makes it feel like two experiences in one. The chefs are engaging and entertaining, and honestly, who doesn't love buttery fried rice cooked right in front of you? Definitely one of our go-to restaurants in the neighborhood!

I did not enjoy our experience at this place at all. First,…read morewe arrived around 2/230. We wanted to eat hibachi so the person upfront told us to ride the dinner menu, in order to be eligible for the hibachi presentation. That was fine... We got seated and we were the only ones, which kinda felt awkward. Anyhow, ordered steak and chicken dinner and steak n shrimp. Well the chef started preparing food. Serving our portions etc etc. he divided the shrimp on our plates. I figured he giving us a little extra to share. Come to find out, He messed up the order. He thought both dinners were steak n shrimp as He started cleaning the grill. The food was ok at best. The presentation was ok also. When our bill came, I told the waiter about the mess up with the chef. Instead of being apologetic and possibly discounting the total a little bit, she goes on to upcharge us for the shrimp compared to chicken. At that point, I was convinced that this place was sub par, At best!!!! Never again

Keeper's Japanese Restaurant completely lived up to the hype this was such a perfect date night…read morespot. He's been telling me about this place for a while, so I came in already expecting great sushi, and it definitely delivered. First off, they have all-day happy hour, which is always a win. We started with the yellowtail sashimi, and it was incredibly fresh and flavorful such a great way to kick things off. For drinks, he ordered a Legend Old Fashioned, and I went with the lychee martini... and yes, I had two because it was that good light, slightly sweet, and super refreshing. For our rolls, I got the Hot Momma roll and he had the Julie Crunch roll. Everything came out perfectly fresh, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. You can really tell they put care into both the quality and the experience. Also, shoutout to Emilio he was so sweet and attentive throughout the night and really made the experience even better. Between the food, drinks, and the overall vibe, this place checked all the boxes. I can 100% see this becoming one of our regular date night spots going forward. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for great sushi and a relaxed atmosphere!

Oma is one of the better AYCE sushi spots I have been to in Houston. It's located on the lakefront…read morearea of 59 & Hwy 6. While they don't offer lakeside seating, there are plenty of options inside the spacious, two-story restaurant. On the weekends, they indicate "No lunch AYCE" - don't be confused by the wording like we were. This only means that they don't offer the "lunch price" AYCE on the weekends. No biggie, as the dinner price/menu was perfectly fine and opened up more options for us to order. Lunch price AYCE does not offer sashimi (nigiri only), whereas dinner price AYCE has the whole menu as fair game. Some of the menu items do have limits, like the toro (1 piece/adult AYCE). Additionally, each person can order a max of 10 nigiri or sashimi per round. You also only get 1 serving of dessert per AYCE. They also have a silly rule of $0.50 per uneaten rice for nigiri; I suppose this encourages folks to fill up on rice in the nigiri, as sashimi is not an option during weekday lunch AYCE. Our party of 5 ordered a multitude of items on the menu. The fish quality was definitely there and everything tasted fresh. We ordered a few rounds of the seared nigiri, specialty nigiri, and sushi towers. Standouts were eel/unagi sashimi, crunch garlic & scallion salmon nigiri, seared Kobe beef nigiri, seared tuna nigiri, and seared yellowtail nigiri. These were the ones we ordered multiple rounds, but we made an honest attempt to at least try as much of the menu offerings as we could. If only our stomachs had more room! I will say the hot/cooked items (bulgogi, galbi, beef skewer) could have been better...but what can you say, this is a sushi restaurant. That doesn't speak for all of the hot items. I really liked the basil chicken nuggets (Taiwanese popcorn chicken) and vegetable tempura; the shrimp tempura was also a hit at the table. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive throughout our time. At times we'd forget what we had ordered of the many items, so he'd swing by the table once the food was brought out to tell us what's what, and who ordered what. Excellent service! For AYCE sushi, Oma is definitely on top of its game. I've been to a few others around Houston, and this one stands out as one of the premium ones in my opinion. Come for lunch and eat to your heart's desire, and if you're like me, you won't eat for another 30 hours.

The Hawaii roll was a bit too mushy. Overall, wouldn't recommend the rolls when you can eat the nigiri Salmon/eel/salmon belly/yellowtail nigiri were great! I tried the squid nigiri which was SO slimey I wanted to throw up. I am not sure if that's the typical texture but I don't recommend. The octopus was very fishy in taste. Service - the waiters were very helicopter-y. They passed by legitimately every 15 seconds, it was a bit too much. Our waiter also input our order wrong but was kind about it. Wait - on a weekday at 2p, it was about 5 min wait! Overall, it's pretty good but I don't see myself making this far drive when there are other closer ayce sushi spots to me!
