Came for the mochi donuts, stayed for the extremely delicious $8.95 tofu banh mi. Tucked into the corner of the Walmart shopping complex off Nolensville Road, easy to blow past even when you know it's there, just by virtue of how small it is. Almost always packed, even right before closing. I've done delivery a couple of times before finally showing up in person. (And now regret I ever did delivery. Pickup is easy and the fees are not worth it.) Menu is tight and purposeful: banh mi, pho, rice noodle bowls, a handful of appetizers, all inexpensive. The boba and fruit teas are an influencer's dream: colorful, instagrammable, with lots of interesting flavors to choose from. But the real draw here is the made-fresh-daily mochi donuts, and the flavor lineup leans decidedly international: taro glaze, Dubai chocolate, strawberry pocky, pistachio. My personal favorite is actually the plain sugar (maximum chewy mochi mouthfeel), but the fancier ones hold up, too. Miles better than what the nearby chain Asian bakeries are doing, and I have eaten at a lot of those. All that said, the actual food is not an afterthought. The tofu banh mi ($8.95) has become a genuine addiction, on what tastes like real, homemade French bread. Ordered on their website, ready in 15 minutes, waiting at the counter 2 minutes after I walked in. The 1 thing that is super annoying is the space gets crowded enough that navigating to the counter for pickup is a little awkward. Parking is easy (massive shared lot), staff is warm and fast. Would be in very regular rotation if it weren't slightly out of my way, and it's well worth the effort. read more

New-ish to TN and I found this cafe originally through and Instagram ad. I enjoy milk tea and matcha so I had to try it out. When I got there late afternoon on a Saturday, it was somewhat busy, some families and a few groups of friends. There was a line to order. Seems like it is family owned and there wasn't a lot of staff. The cashier was also bussing tables and serving the food. The staff seemed friendly and hardworking. They have a little water station that you may help yourself to throughout your meal. I ordered the Viet Tea Trio (appetizer, entrée, & drink) with a Beef Pho, Pork fried egg rolls, and a rose milk tea. They had a variety of milk teas and matcha flavors along with many toppings (i.e. boba). The beef pho was full of flavor. The beef was tender and cooked through, brisket cut. The egg rolls are crunchy and come with a sweet kind of chili sauce. They also have hoisin or sriracha sauce on the tables if you would like to add more flavor to your food. The tea was delicious, though on the sweet side. I like sweet, but let the staff know if you would like it less sweet (25/50/75%). The whole meal was quite filling. It was a bit loud, which is fine, but the kitchen is just behind a curtain so you can sometimes hear the clanking of pots and dishes. But overall a nice experience. read more

Their dishes are subpar and me being Vietnamese was really disappointed with their flavors for their bun bo hue. Their pho was just as disappointing. Their banh mi was pretty good though. This small shop has been on my TO TRY list for some time now. Today I had a bit of time and decided to drop in. I was thrilled to see they offered a variety of drinks and boba. I decided to order a sweetened ice latte with black sugar syrup and boba and for my meal I ordered a BBQ Pork Banh Mi, and also order some donuts to go (Dubai chocolate, Biscoff cookie, and Oreo). Let me start by saying the drinks and desserts were very good. But...the vermicelli noodle bowl, beef pho and egg rolls were disgusting. The pork on the vermicelli bowl was not bbq like it should be. The sauce for it was nothing but colored sugar water with no fish sauce, garlic and chili like it should be. Pho was plain and no sauces to make it good. Egg roll flavor was the worst I've ever had. Couldn't even eat it. I am so sorry to give this review but people need to know that this is not in any way shape or form Vietnamese food done right. Stopped in here for a hot soup on a freezing day. It's a tiny shop and was very busy. Unfortunately, the service was struggling to keep up it looked like one person was handling everything from taking orders to waitressing, which led to long wait times. The Beef Pho was okay, but nothing spectacular. The biggest downside is the seating; because the place is so small, the line of people waiting for takeout is standing right over you while you eat. We usually DoorDash from Viet Tea Cafe, and overall it's a solid go-to. The mochi donuts are AMAZING! The pho has great flavor, but the noodles are a bit too cooked by the time it's delivered. They tend to break easily and get soggy. I usually transfer the pho to my own bowl at home, and I think slightly undercooking the noodles would really help it hold up better for delivery. The fresh spring rolls are good, but I'd love to see more of the other ingredients and less noodles inside. The sauce is really good. The taro boba with coconut milk is hands-down the best drink! It's creamy, flavorful, and not too sweet. I haven't tried adding extras yet, but I'd prefer an option to add extra boba from the app next time. I miss the old set up where you would walk in and order from a counter in the back. Now, when you walk in, the counter is right at the door which gets crowded quickly. The food is yummy but pickup time isn't accurate more times than it is. Quite often I'm waiting an additional 20+ minutes with an item missing. Had the mango coconut drink and my husband got the ube matcha Both 10/10 loved it , the appetizers we had were great too and I had the beef pho. Nearly cried when I had the pho , it was amazing. Tasted good, the meat wasn't thick ah pieces , good amount of noodles. Incredible. This is closer to a 5 than a 4. I think one of the better banh mi places near by without driving hours to a major city. When I crave good Vietnamese food I head out to Hans. Personally I think the shop here taste better than the one in the Assembly hall. It's quaint and cute inside. Free lemon water and great service low pressure joint. The menu is small but still has a good selection. Their noodle soups and banh mi are why I go but it's arguable depending on who you go with. Initially I was unsure what to think walking into this small cafe in this strip mall. As soon as I entered I was met by a selection of interesting pastries, all of various flavors and colors! - I realize I should write these reviews when they're fresh so I remember them better but the donuts weren't like normal donuts. I think they were like rice based instead of like yeast I think? very fluffy and delicious- The service was great from the staff, we ended up showing up at the start of the dinner rush and being able to stay to watch how busy this place gets and how hard the staff work. They seemed to have more people take out from there rather than dine in (probably due to the small amount of seating). Well, this is so personal since people like the texture of the boba in a different way. The boba stayed soft even it passed 2 hours grace period. I give that two thumbs up. The concentration of their classic tea is perfect. Not too weak and not too strong. The variety of drinks on the menu are a plus. A bit hard to make a decision when you purchasing it at the restaurant because there were so many options. After my first time coming here I can genuinely say I'm in loveeeee!! This place is so so cute and the people were so kind, despite being slammed when we got there. I got the black sugar crema latte with regular boba, the beef pho and shared the fried pork egg rolls with my boyfriend. Everything was incredible. I've never had such a flavor packed broth in my life!! We even picked up an mochi ube waffle, some mochi donuts and an egg tart to take home and everything was so soft and chewy and delicious. If this place needs anything, it's just a bigger space to accommodate how many people were coming in every couple minutes to get something.
