We had ordered from here once for a to go order because we were craving crunchy tacos. They hit the spot that day but it would not be my go to taco place. Recently we were in the area again and decided to dine in at the bar. We were greeted promptly and told the bar was open seating. We both had a couple of tequila shots, but I can't remember the name of the tequila but it was very smooth. We started with chips and salsa as well as an order of queso. The queso blanco was pretty bland to me. He ordered the crunchy tacos again and I opted to try the quesadillas. They were HUGH and full of chicken. We're new to the area and I was craving chicken nachos. When entering they weren't busy at all but we waited for someone to notice us. A gentleman approached us I told him it was our first time here and we'd like some nachos if you all have that on the menu. We looked at me confused as if he couldn't understand the words coming out of my mouth. He then said it'd be about 10 to 15 minutes. Now I'm trying to figure out why the canned chicken on some LIMP tortilla chips took 15 minutes. We sat down at the bar to wait and refused chips and salsa but the young lady insisted. The gentleman looked at her in straight disgust. Once the to go order came out the gentleman brought it to us and hovered over me the entire time I was trying to get my card out to pay. Like I said we're new to the area and not tourist so our plan was to come back. But not only are we never coming back to this restaurant we called back and asked for an immediate refund I mean look at this shit!? On top of feeling discriminated against because of my color. First I want to say this is one of our favorite restaurants. Their salsa is super fresh and tastes homemade - this is not poured out of a jar! The staff are awesome and welcoming. But let me tell you about how they went above and beyond for us: Friday night, I hosted a viewing party for my episode in a documentary about my business and my story. A super special night! Our event planners wanted me to show up after the guests so we stopped for a celebratory cocktail and some apps. At 6pm, 30 minutes before the party started, we had just closed out our tab when the planners called to let me know the caterers got the night wrong. EEEKS!!! I immediately asked the manager if he could help us with appetizers for 50 people. In less than 30 minutes and for 20% of what we had paid the original caterers, he put together their La Villa Samplers complete with plates and flatware and gave us each a drink on the house. I ordered the tacos al pastor plate, which came with four tacos, rice and beans. Only thing decently good was the beans. The hot sauce tasted bland, both kinds of salsa. The had cooked onions already in the taco, which tasted bland as well. My father had the enchiladas and was disappointed as well. We have eaten at Villa Grande many times over the past year.Overall, it is pretty good food at a very reasonable price. Their soups are a bargain. The bowl serving of tortilla soup has more chicken than I normally eat for a dinner portion. The cheese is also a very generous quantity. The broth tastes like it is made in house. It isn't overly salty, which is unusual. I wish it had a few more bits of carrot and peas, but it isn't my recipe. Their iced tea is served in large plastic tumblers. The tumblers are so tall that it is easy to lose your straw. Servers are good about keeping your drink topped off. Their Mexican rice is some of the best I've ever had. although sometime it is spicier than my preference but it is still good. Refried beans are always fresh tasting. Flour tortillas are cooked bynyour server after you order them so they are always fresh. I love their tamales. Good seasoning and texture. Crispy beef tacos are FULL of seasoned beef. I like their seasoning. Beef enchiladas are very good as well. Seasoning differs from their taco meat. Their chile rellenos are very good. I have them reduce the filling because there is just more than I can eat. I don't eat a lot of picante sauces but my friends who do, say they are very good. Oh. I went 3 days in a row last week and going back tonight for dinner. I went for lunch Monday which was my first time. At first I was pissed cause they weren't busy, there was no one at the podium to seat me, and the little girl at the bar just ignored that I was standing there. However, the food was good (though shrimp salad wasn't what I expected, it was still good) and my waiter was really sweet and nice. Went back the second night to order crunchy beef tacos to go. The bartender encouraged me to come back for the street shrimp tacos which I did for lunch the next day. Everything was delicious. Going to try the taco salad tonight for dinner. Here's my sob story. I was attempting to get from Idaho Falls to Minneapolis and Dallas was my connection. Horrible weather decided that I wouldn't depart until the following day. I booked a nearby hotel and after grabbing the shuttle and dropping my bag, I headed out to eat. I saw many restaurants close by but the reviews here peaked my interest. They weren't great, but they weren't horrible. Well, I had a fantastic time. My server was very attentive and shame on me for forgetting his name, but if the location contacts me-I'll try my best to ID him. I ordered a much needed glass of white and the enchiladas suizas, green sauce. DELISH. Before my dish arrived I was provided chips and salsa. Salsa was great, chips were a tad stale. If I could leave no stars, I would. The waiter seems busy even though there was only two other tables. He would walk away before we finished even speaking. This was an older gentleman black and grey hair, average height. The food was okay, not at all what I thought it would be. Tasted bland. The waiter kept coming by but every time He talked to us he didn't care to listening to everything. The drink was okay. The guy spent the whole time watching tv or on his phone. I would say remove the TVs, they obviously distract from the service. Lastly, while he delivered the plates he would put half the plate down and literally drop the rest of it. There is nothing special nor shocking about this place. It is one of those places that you only go to because it is close and doesn't have a line. The place is pretty small on the inside. The staff is decent. The happy is from 4-7. It is $2.50 off the house margaritas. The food is not that good but it is edible. I ordered the stuffed jalapenos. 3 were stuffed with cheese and the other 3 were stuffed with chicken. This is not a good appetizer. The ones stuffed with cheese were only a 1/3 full. I'm not sure why this place has only three stars?In my opinion it's better then that.I've seen this place for the longest time just never went there till today.Went in and I was seated very quickly.I sat down and was quickly brought chips and hot sauce.Then the waiter came over and got my drink order.They have quite a bit of items on their menu so it too me a minute to look through it.After looking I decided to to go with the enchiladas and a crispy taco on the side.I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a combo platter where I could get the taco with the enchiladas.As far as the food goes,overall it was solid.I really liked the crispy taco.One thing I would like to add the service was top notch.If my drink was running low he was there to fill it up.If I was almost out of salsa he would have another one on the table.I'll give him props he was on it.The only disappointment was,since they didn't have any combo with the taco I had to pay 3.50 for the taco.Also I got sour cream on the side and it was 2.00.Cmon man I can't almost but a 16 Oz of sour cream for that much.So I ended up paying 20 bucks just for me.Other then that it was pretty tasty.I'll go back again and would recommend it. read more

I wasn't expecting the beautifully decorated restaurant. The services were quick even though they weee fairly busy and the staff was very polite. I got the lunch taquitos meal and it wasn't as pricey as I thought it would be. The taquitos themselves were okay but the beans and rice were soooo good and I really enjoyed the green salsa that was put on the taquitos. My family and I went in, were seated and it seemed like we were such an inconvenience for asking for a high chair. We got our drink order and I tried to order an appetizer yet the server walked off. Other people sat down, received chips and salsa, drink orders and even food orders and we still had nothing or any server come back. Not sure what happened but really disappointed that I was somehow black-listed by the servers for asking for a high chair. So heads up to anyone with a family, do not visit this restaurant. Anyone with young kids knows that it is sometimes a big deal to pick a restaurant to go to so you can semi- relax for a moment. Ended up coming here since the Indian place next door was closed - good decision. Our server, Lewis, was great and friendly. The restaurant was clean and had a good ambiance to it. The chips are your standard thin cut tortilla chips with standard salsa. The food portions were more than what I was expecting and weren't overpriced. I highly recommend the Tacos Alambre, they were delicioso! The dish consisted of four tacos that consisted of two small corn tortillas (you can get flour if you choose) filled with shrimp, bits of tenderloin, bacon, some onion and pepper. It's served with an avocado salsa, I believe, that was perfect. The charro beans were really good, a little spicier than expected, but good. The rice was what's expected, standard Mexican rice, though the serving seemed a bit skimpy. I will definitely be back, maybe to try some happy hour specials if I can get there in time. read more
