Went here with me and my son about three weeks ago. I ordered the cheese lasagna and my son ordered a junior pizza. The environment was really nice, it definitely had that old-school Italian feel to it. Our waitress was awesome she was very attentive to the table and just all-around entertaining. My son loved his pizza. Unfortunately I didn't like my lasagna. It had a very slimy texture to the pasta. The bread and the salad was very fresh. I gave it four stars not because of the food but because of the experience and the wonderful waitress. Maybe I'll try again, and try the chicken Marsala. read more

Marinara sauce not the best and meatball is oddly smokey for me so I don't order spaghetti or the meatballs but I am not Italian. But I love their pizza, their soup and the antipasto salad!! This is , by far, the best Italian restaurant in the area! I ordered the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo and it was the absolute best I've ever had! Since reading about this place here on Yelp, I've now been there three times and can't say enough about how awesome this place is. It's reasonably priced, the staff is awesome and the food is just stellar. You get bread and salad (or soup, I think) to start. If you order the salad, you MUST get the house dressing! It's incredible. So far the appetizers we've gotten have been the calamari (classic and good), the baked meatballs (delicious and, according to my meatball obsessed boyfriend "the best meatballs on the planet") and the mozzarella marinara, which is essentially a deep fried chuck of mozzarella covered in marinara sauce that puts every fried cheese stick you've ever had to shame. I hear their pizzas are good, but haven't tried them yet as I can't quite stop ordering the parmigianas. Whether it's of the veal, chicken or eggplant variety, Villa knows just how to do it right. In conclusion: if you're in the mood for real (read: not olive garden) Italian, hit up the villa. read more

It was a Sunday night and we wanted some pasta. Instead of going to Olive Garden, we decided to give this place a try due to the positive yelp reviews. Unfortunately everything was just alright. Food was alright. The soup was bland. Better breadsticks at Olive Garden and I would say, service is better there as well. Our server, was rude and unattentive. As it came time for me to order, I wanted the canneloni and raveoli pasta combo. As i was reading the name pointing to it, she interrupted me and said, "soup or salad.." and she ended up giving me the wrong order. Also my brother in law specifically asked for no onions or peppers in his sandwich, and of course, there were onions and peppers in his sandwich. Our small cups of water were empty and when she finally came back, we asked for refills. She came back with a pitcher of water and set it at the table and left. Never came back to check on us or to see how we were doing. Very poor customer service. Positive thing i would say is, their canneloni was good. Sauce isn't amazing, but it's alright. The Olive Garden, Italian? That's like saying Burger King is a steakhouse. Villa is old school Italian, like your parents enjoyed. Veal dishes, pasta dishes, all in covered in the "red gravy". My brother and his family have been going to the Villa for many years, raving to me about the yummy food and wonderful owners and staff. I recently went there with them, assuming my standard "artsy Auntie" role and hung back a bit while they conversed with the waitress and other patrons. I suppose I subconsciously assumed that they wouldn't relate so well to a quirky chick like me, but by the time we left I felt like I was very welcome. Our waitress was going through something and briefly shared a bit about it, and we gave her little moments of love and support as she ran around tending her tables. You'll feel like you're at a favorite relative's house, food and all. It's not all gourmet'ed out but it's tasty, very inexpensive, and you'll likely leave with leftovers. First off there are some idiot reviews on here. The price? Reasonable. Want fake Italian? Go to Olive Garden... Please. Food poisoning? I seriously doubt it knowing the owners' attention to detail. Tony, Loretta and Joe are in the kitchen and on deck EVERY night. I've been going to this restaurant for geez 30 years? I don't think I've EVER had a bad meal. My all time favorite since childhood is the meat ravioli with marinara sauce. The marinara has a certain zip to it that compliments the meat in the ravioli. Plus I'm not an onion fan, usually difficult with Italian but not here! Yay!! Add a glass of Chianti and you'll be fat and happy (add a bottle and you'll be fat, happy and drunk). MUST GET the antipasto salad. I would give up my best friend for their dressing, it's that good. I sometimes just order the salad and the table gets a pizza. Yum! Other favorites: manicotti (if you love cheese), lasagna, veal park, chicken piccate, ... Really anything. The lasagna is divine, great pizza, etc. plus the family Is a true Italian treasure. I laughed out loud at other reviews because I feel the same - this is straight outta Goodfellas, the Godfather, etc. It's definitely a place you feel you might see someone get "whacked". Last night we decided to try the Villa, at the urging of fellow Yelpers. Tucked along Gratiot Ave., the Villa is a charming, small place with parking and entrance located in the back. We were shown to a booth right away and our server was a tiny, older woman who'd probably been working there since the beginning. She didn't seem that enthusiastic about waiting tables, but I'd be thrilled if I just woke up every morning at her age. I decided on the Eggplant Parmigiana with a side of spaghetti and antipasto salad. Our waitress brought a nice bread basket with good sliced Italian bread and sesame breadsticks. The antipasto salad was good, generous slices of ham, salami and provolone cheese - I have to agree with Ron C., their house Italian dressing was really good. It looked like a creamy Italian (which I'm not too crazy about) but didn't taste too creamy; lots of herbs and garlic... delicious! Our entrées were brought to the table in perfect time, just after we had finished our salads and not during (which I totally hate!). My plate was piled high with slices of eggplant, covered in a rich tomato sauce and melted cheese; the side plate of spaghetti marinara was also generous! I sprinkled on some parmesan and got to work. The eggplant was delicious, soft but not mushy, and the sauce was rich with hunks of tomatoes. My friend ordered the combination plate of spaghetti with meat sauce and meat stuffed ravioli - I got to taste the ravioli and it was delicious... flavorful with lots of herbs; the pasta tasted homemade and was cooked to perfection. Totally too much to eat; I was hoping to take it home and have lunch the next day... But when the waitress came to clear the table, she didn't ask if I wanted to take the rest and stacked the plates ON TOP of my food before I could say anything; I just kept quiet at that point but I was really disappointed. There was quite a lot left on my place... 1/2 the spaghetti and at least 4 slices of eggplant. 4 Stars for the food and 0 Stars for the service. read more

Really good Italian, we have been here dozens & dozens of times over the last few years. The spaghetti and meatballs, cannelloni, ravioli are all extremely good as their meat sauce is really good. Their sauce was off a just a bit the last time we were there but still very tasty. An upgrade from their dinner salad to mini Antipasto is a must as their home made Italian dressing is one of the best around, different than other's it's a bit sweet but oh so good. Make sure to ask them to bring the bottle to the table as you may want to put a splash more on your salad. read more

There are plenty of Italian joints to choose from, but The Villa is always at the top of my list. Family owned and operated for way longer than I've been alive, they take seriously their history. Not being able to pick "one" favorite, I can say I've tried all the available pasta dishes and they were all top notch. I am partial to Alfredo pasta, and theirs is beautiful. If you're an eggplant lover, they have one of the best Parmesan eggplant dishes we have tasted. The plates come pretty full so you will get your money's worth. Thank you so very much to a fellow yelper for turning me on to this little gem!! Got a message about it Friday, and as it happened to be, I was going to be in that area Friday night so I got my BF and my BFF and her fiance and we all gave it a go... This place could become one of my new go-to faves, legit. We got there at 8pm on Friday night, no call-ahead. Parking lot looked pretty busy so we crossed our fingers and went in. Place was hoppin' alright, but I wasn't worried. The host said, "Give me a few minutes please..." and then right away said "...oh never mind that, we have booths in the back by the bar". Cool, lead the way!! We were seated along the bar area, which is nice, because the main dining room had a lot of families (good sign). We didn't have any kids with us, so the bar area definitely suited us better. Villa is family owned, and has been around for quite some time, so going in, I knew they were doing something right. Wine prices are great!!! Actually, ALL the prices are great!!! I couldn't believe someone actually reviewed that this place was "pricey".... Where??? The most expensive thing was still cheaper than most shitty chain restaurants, and this place had REAL Italian food to boot. I saw they had amogue on the menu, and just about died of happiness. For those of you who don't know what amogue (some spell it amoglio) is, it's basically Italian salsa, and it's super delicious!!! Tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and Italian herbs... that's all it takes. Val was our waitress, and she is a DOLL!!!! Loved her! We kept her quite entertained all evening I must say!! So, after wine, and beer, and warm, fresh bread and dipping oil, then we move to cheesy pizza bread with the amogue Val said people don't ask for amogue with the cheese bread.... OMG, DO THAT!!!! Seriously, it's so yummy!! We devoured that, fighting over the last piece, and then it was on to dinner. BF had the carbonara on special. BFF had the steak Siciliano, her fiance had the Pasta Joe's, and I had the manicotti palmino. Dinners come with soup or salad, BF had the minestrone, I had salad and so did the other 2. They brought out a little bottle of the house dressing for salad. Damn that shit is GOOD!!!! I loved it!! We kept the bottle at our table the whole night! BF said the soup was delish, and it had lots in it. Dinners came out and we were getting full and having a great time at that point. Everyone loved their meals, except the BFF. She thought the breading on the steak Siciliano was a little bland and heavy. To be fair, we all tried it, and it was just OK. Personally, I don't like breaded steak or hamburger anyway, so I knew I wouldn't like it. That was honestly the ONLY even partial complaint anyone had the whole meal. I absolutely love this family owned and operated Italian restaurant! I had the gnocchi and (meat) ravioli. This had to be the best meat ravioli I ever had. My wife had the manicotti and my son had the spaghetti and meatball. We all lived our meals. For desert, I had the most delicious tiramisu, my wife had spumoni amaretto cheesecake, and my son had the spumoni ice cream. They have a great wine and drink collection as well. This probably one of the better Italian restaurants around. The food is good and they give you large portions so I always have leftovers for lunch or dinner the next day. If you live in Eastpointe you should definitely check them out. The parking lot is a little small and you have to enter through the back door so I don't recommend parking on Gratiot and walking all the way around to the back especially if you have trouble walking far. My go to Italian place on the East Side. Really good food, good pizza and the house salad dressing is amazing.

I had a pretty good meal here. I ordered pasta carbonara (which was a special), calamari and salad with the famous House dressing. The salad was excellent and the much-lauded dressing was very tasty. The carbonara was rich and creamy with huge chunks of bacon in it and the pasta was perfectly cooked. The calamari was just alright, also they gave us cocktail sauce as a dip instead of the more traditional marinara sauce--that was kinda weird. We got carry out and they gave us lots of bread, breadsticks, parmesan cheese and butter free of charge. Didn't have to wait long for our order either! The inside is cute and clean and the waitstaff was very polite. If you are looking for good Italian food on the east side, give this place a try! read more

My boyfriend and I went to Villa for dinner tonight. It's been years since I've been here. I got the plate with Fettuccine Alfredo, Lasagna, and Chicken Parmigiana. My bf got the Shrimp Scampi. This is not Italian food. The owner came to our table and asked why we did not finish. Was there something you didn't like? All of it. My Mother and Father were from Italy I stated. Then she got loud. Well your used to different Italian. This food was worse than canned! The chicken pam was preprepared frozen, the lasagna had four layers of pasta and no meat or ricotta, the Alfredo was over cooked. They brought a bottle of Olive oil for dipping bread (The breadsticks were stale) then in the middle of dinner they asked if we were done with it. Maybe it was the only one they had for the whole restaurant. The owner claimed 60 years in business. I wonder if they have ever eaten Italian food. Go to the Olive Garden, it is the same horrible quality but with better decor. This place serves crap. We ended up going out to eat again a couple of hours later. read more

There aren't many Italian restaurants that i can order a simple plate of spaghetti at and be satisfied, but Villa satisfies me whenever i have that simple craving. I tend to always compare it to my grandmothers. The decor here isn't too fancy, and the first time i took her here on a date she was kind confused as to why i took her here, as the atmosphere is simply 'family' and not fancy (im not saying that in a negative way).
