Do not make the mistake of passing this family owned Italian Restaurant for a larger chain. Villa Vinci is one of the anchors of the Downtown Wylie Ballard Street Scene. I have had multiple items off their menu and have enjoyed them all. The Stromboli is huge!! Be careful to not fill up on the garlic rolls delivered to your table after you order your entree. Don't forget that several establishments on Ballard street allow you to bring your own food to enjoy while wine, whiskey, or craft beer. We've eaten here twice. The first time wasn't bad. Nothing great, but we thought we'd give it another try. We went on a Thursday early evening. We took our daughter because she likes Italian food. There's live music on Thursdays. When we arrived, the entertainment began singing. The volume was so high, we couldn't talk to each other over dinner. The waiter was new and not a fluent English speaker. Our pizza was soggy, the pasta was flavorless, there were flies sitting on the bread. We order a beer. Visited VV for the first time this past Sunday, after driving out to the area to house hunt. We bought a house, so we decided to celebrate and grab a bite to eat on our way out of Wylie. A very quaint little place, located in the center of the old downtown strip which, in and of itself, is likewise quaint. Sarah was our server and although it was just her second night working at VV, she did a great job, was friendly, accommodating, and wore a smile each time she visited the table. Given that Wylie is really quite small, we were pleasantly surprised at the quality and tastiness of our food. As an appetizer, we ordered the garlic pizza bread (12" round, thin pizza crust brushed with EVOO, garlic, and parmesan, not like garlic bread with melted cheese - different) - it was tasty! Along with the pizza bread, Sarah brought garlic bread knots to the table as well. They too were very tasty. VV's dough and sauce are both savory (not sweet), which is more authentic Italian (I just can't see how people ruin pizza, biscuits, cornbread, and bread in general, by adding sugar and making them taste sweet - just weird.) Okay, okay... the Review... So, we ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara (added a fried chicken breast), Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Penne Arrabiata. Everything was delicious and the portion sizes were perfect, but VV does not included a house salad with dinner, so we kind of missed that aspect of the meal. And, nevertheless, it was a great meal! For dessert, we took two Tiramisu home. The desserts were individually made and packaged in small plastic containers. At least the "To-Go" ones were. We ate those the same evening and they were tasty, but just okay as far as Tiramisu goes. Since, the Ladyfingers that base the Tiramisu should be saturated with coffee liqueur/dark rum and we did not think these were made with liqueur or liquor at all. All in all, we really liked VV and will return, probably making it a go to place for Italian food once we live close by. Prices were very reasonable. Now, I've made myself hungry. :) Be Well. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I just had food delivered, and I knew immediately that I would not enjoy it just by the way it made my house smell. The garlic bread smelled fishy, the baked ziti was dry and tasteless, the chicken fettuccini Alfredo tasted like absolutely nothing, and the salads were just a handful of iceberg lettuce with a tomato wedge. How can the food taste like nothing and at the same time make your House smell so bad?! You know it's bad when you realize you made a mistake by ordering here instead of choosing Olive Garden. Five stars for our server Savannah! Small Italian restaurant on Ballard (I think it is Wylie's downtown?) Their marinara and rolls are so tasty! Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. One of my kids had the calzone and said it was good. He said he'd prefer it without ricotta next time. I think my husband's chicken parm may have been off. He didn't care for it and said it was 3 stars because the texture wasn't right and was a bit rubbery. My other kid also had the chicken parm and said it was "Tender and a little crispy and went great with the rolls and marina". I had the salmon piccata and a glass of Pinot noir. The picatta had a nice flavor, but I'm used to having it with a creamier sauce. It was pretty brothy, but still tasty. The only thing that was weird was the garlic bread. Toasted a little too long and had a really odd flavor/seasoning on it. A few of us tried to eat a slice but couldn't finish it. Our server thought the red powder was red pepper, but it wasn't spicy so maybe it was paprika? Not sure. Overall a pleasant evening out at a local Italian restaurant. read more

This was my husband and I'd first time eating here. I was excited to see free delivery to our home, so we decided to take advantage of it. Overall, everything was absolutely delicious. We got the margarita pizza and spaghetti and meatballs to share. The delivery person was extremely nice and courteous. The one thing I do want to note that was a bit of a disappointment was that upon opening the pizza box, we noticed that literally all of the cheese and toppings had completely slid off (I've included a picture). This was definitely a bummer because we had to sort of slop it back onto the breading, making it pretty messy and some pieces not getting any toppings or cheese. The flavor was awesome, but that definitely put a damper on the experience. We will definitely be eating here, but may not do delivery, we will probably just eat in the restaurant and see how the experience is there! read more

We've only been twice to the restaurant to dine in since Covid, but order here on about once a month for pickup or delivery via UberEats. Love the food and the staff. Always fresh. This Italian-American restaurant is nestled in Wylie's historic downtown, which is really maybe just two, maybe three blocks, flanked on both sides. Despite downtown's smallish size, it is actually quaint and nice, especially for this part of the suburbs where there's not much else besides the growing presence of chain restaurants sprawling over from next-door Murphy, TX. Anyways, this Italian restaurant was manned by two people when I came in. One young fellow that is in his early college years, who expertly handled tables and orders with care, and the skilled Albanian cook (no surprise, since many Italian restaurants are manned by people from Albania). I was served complimentary bread, which is pretty much akin to rolls made with pizza dough (similar to garlic rolls, but without the garlic). It came served with margarine, which I was not too thrilled about - but one could request for olive oil to replace margarine. I saw pizzas. I saw pastas. And I saw entrees. They also have an affordable $7 lunch menu, but their real menu looked and sounded much more interesting. I went with the Fettuccine Piedmontese, which is pretty much a steak and pasta dish. The portion was large, and it was served in plenty of rich heavy cream sauce that adding parmesan cheese was unnecessary (you will be asked if you want it though). The fettucini was cooked a tad little past al dente. The thin steaks were of different cuts, some being thinner than others. The garlic, portobello mushrooms, onion and bell peppers seasoned the dish well, and the plate as a whole was tasty, even if it was not flawless. For Italian-style cooking, the sauce should be applied sparingly, the pasta should be al-dente, and the pasta dish is rarely ever heavy or even a main entree. This place didn't exactly meet what I consider is the Italian-standard, but it's also not too far off. But I suspect their style of cooking is perfect for the suburbanites in the area - and it approaches the happy medium between their tastes and mine. Maybe the baked pasta dishes are better for me, but I have not yet tried them. A friend of mine had pizza here and he liked it. He ordered the pizza della casa, which comes with meaty toppings of chicken, meatballs, ham and pepperoni. The pizza is New York-styled, with thin crust (but not as thin as Italian-style), and heavy on cheese, lighter on sauces. For New Yorkers, this could be the place to be for pizzas. And it makes sense - Albanians, more often than not, pass through New York. It's only natural that if they're setting up Italian restaurants locally, it would be New York style. However, if there's anything that's perfectly executed here, it's their entrees. If you browse through the pictures, you'd see that they were perfectly made. And for beef eaters, the Italian Sausage Kebab is highly recommended, as it comes with grilled skewered steak kabob, Italian sausage wrapped in pancetta ham and served on mustard mashed potatoes. Their chicken dishes will also appease chicken-lovers. Also, the tiramisu, for dessert, is an excellent choice here. I wouldn't mind coming back here at all, for the entrees, and maybe the New York style pizzas. Skip the uninspired lunch menu. read more

No graded parmesan cheese was on the table nor was it even offered by the waiter. " This is an Italian restaurant ". The egg plant Parmesan had barely any breading and not crispy. It seemed to be baked not fried as it should be. The side of spaghetti only had a dab of sauce on it that did not cover all the noodles. The sauce was very tasty though.
