The food is delicious, so I'd probably give 5 stars for that! I tried the southwest salad for the first time and it was really good. The dressing is like a bbq ranch or something and so good! I always get the egg salad on honey rye as well. Can't beat it. The service however was extremely slow. I basically walked right up to the counter and still didn't have my food 15 min after other members of my party received theirs. A big group after us all had their food as well so I eventually had to go up and ask about it. They then brought it right away, so I'm not sure if it was just sitting back there all that time or what. My friend also had to send her salad back because she had asked for it without olives, even printed on the receipt and it had olives on it. Wow did I get screwed on a quik walk in. I ordered a sandwich and that was good as usual but damn, I spent basically $12 for a to go container full of lettuce. To be honest - the food here is very good. Just a couple of observations about our sandwiches. The bread is fantastic - if you like fresh, light, fluffy bread - can't beat it. That said - the ratio of bread to fillings was a bit out of whack - and for my turkey cranberry - way too much cream cheese. I didn't try any of the baked goods - but they look pretty spectacular! 7/22/2021 We love going to village baker and get their half sandwich and half salad combo. Our go to favorite salad is their southwest chicken salad and usually I will get the roast beef sandwich but today I had their chicken salad sandwich with provolone. The sandwich was pretty good and I plan on getting that again. Our big disappointment today is their baked goods. Remember before covid Village Bake would have a table for their day old baked goods? Don't worry, they still have it, your only paying full price for it. I'm a little upset at their business practice. We bought five items and. One of them were made fresh today. That includes two pieces of carrot cake, a cinnamon roll and two cookies. The pumpkin chocolate chip cookie might have been a few days old because it was dry and not fresh tasting. Not all of the treats was for us, we share with family and they weren't impressed with the lack of quality either. Village Baker needs to do better otherwise, we'll skip the baked goods from now on. read more

Excellent little location for a Village Baker! This location is a little difficult to spot from 114th South. Their logo is on the sign but their building is waaaaay over behind the Buffalo Wild Wings. Worth the effort to hunt and find. Good seating room with a choice of booths, hi-tops, and regular tables. Great selection of breads, pastries, sweets, sandwiches, soups and pizzas. I opted for the Turkey Cranberry on Squaw bread and I don't think I'll need to eat again for a week. Only pet-peeve is the tip jar on the counter. I don't like being pan-handled for a tip before I even get served, especially at a walk up counter. read more

I frequent this location at least once a week, and have never had any mix-ups or issues. It is also ALWAYS CLEAN. The breads and desserts are so good. It's easily a family favorite. My first time at a Village Baker was years and years ago at that oooold location out on 90th South. It had so much old charm, and it really was more like a bakery that happened to have some food. It felt like a neighborhood secret and I remember the sandwiches being cheap, good, and simple. Begin with that, and then see what Village Baker is today: a multi-location fast casual pizza/sandwich/dessert shop that has sprung up locations seemingly overnight. It's as though they sold to a restaurant investor, or the kids took over, or someone with deep pockets came in and decided to hit the accelerator because it's popped up fast. I don't mind expansion, and even though they've traded the neighborhood feel for a polished, contemporary, safe fast casual ambiance, it's still a bakery at its heart and I ain't mad about more bakeries. Some bakeries do artisan loaves in the old world style, celebrating timeless proofs of flour-water-yeast-salt, fermented to perfection and scored in signature slashes. Village Baker does not do that. They do brownies, and wrapped treats, and loaf pans with bagged breads available to purchase. In their new concept stores, it feels like they've expanded the menu based on using some of the bread and bread-making tools they have, and ordered in a few extra ingredients to make pizzas, soups, and more. I'd love to tour the kitchen to see how much is brought in, how much is sliced or prepped onsite, and how they're sourcing all the non-bread ingredients to pizzas, soups, etc. On my visit here, it was a pizza and a salad for me. We were in a huge group so I just had a bit of both. Their green salads trend towards the sweet with fruits involved, with house or Caesar as the savory exception. The salad game has become really ferocious lately with the addition of some formidable fast casual entrants with tons of mixins and custom ingredients, but for a simple salad it's quick and easy. The pizza had real potential and they have some interesting combos, but El Monterey has loads of veggies that hold water until baked, and it ends up being kind of a wet pizza that's hard to handle. Kudos to them for being mostly prompt with food despite being packed. We had to wipe our own table and they did forget salad dressing, but eventually they did send someone out with dressing, and some of the tables and the drink area got tidied up. My advice is to stick with the bread and butter (pun intended) of those simple Village Baker roots. Get a sandwich. That turkey cranberry one is killer, and I've had others that for sure stack up. read more

The first time I ever went to Village Baker was to pick up a lunch order for five people. My food was done on time (online order), and it was pretty easy to complete the order. My only complaint was that I had to pick up the desserts I had ordered. It would be helpful if it were all ready to go when I got there (I ended up forgetting a brownie for a coworker and had to turn around). I think the prices are very reasonable! The quality and freshness is great. I had the turkey cranberry sandwich and chef salad (half of each), and holy wow. The sandwich was great, and the salad was enormous! I've since been back, once for dessert on its own, and once for dinner (had the turkey cran again, and a different salad). The wheat bread and squaw bread were both excellent. I want to try their pizza and all of their cookies and treats. At the Sandy location and the new Lehi location, the people were all very nice and helpful. It was clean and quick at both places. I wish they were open later! Still, I love what they have to offer, so I'll get there in the hours they're open if I have to. read more

I am so in love with this place, reminds me of the specialty sandwich joints in San Fran. Thick fresh bread, great deli meat with all of the fixings added. Besides ordering a sandwich wanted to also try their pizza. We ordered the pizza Italiano and the chicken Alfredo pizza. Both were excellent although I preferred the Italiano more as it was exploding in my mouth with flavor. Crust was cooked evenly, just right amount of sauce and cheese nothing over bearing. Meat was juicy and cooked to the correct temperature. You don't except a bakery to have great pizza or have it at all. It was nice to see they do an awesome job on that part. Also ordered some desserts, the famous K-bar which is just like a Whatchamacallit from Hershey's candy. Also got the carrot cake which was moist and cream cheese frosting tasted like everything was made just before lunch. Even though the place was completely packed and a line out the door they still have workers come around and check on every table to see how they are doing. Pretty cool for not being a sit down order off the menu type of restaurant. Kinda wish the location in West Jordan was big enough to do tables and chairs. Will be back for more! read more

I LOVE Village Baker. I think it has become my favorite sandwich shop/bakery, and for one simple reason. The food is just way better than most other chains. It's that simple for me. Honestly the only reason I ever go elsewhere is convenience because I live in Riverton, and this was the closest to me until recently. (Yes, they now have a location in The District in South Jordan...you will be seeing my wife and I often I suspect!). This location is actually a little hard to spot until you know that it's tucked away behind other things. But it's a great spot for lunch, especially if you're visiting Costco (#LifeHack)! Sandwiches are great. I particularly love the Chicken Salad & Provolone, and the Turkey sandwich options are awesome too. They have great salads too, Mandarin Chicken and the Southwest Salad being my two favorites. They also have some pretty good Pizza's, that's often my wife's go to thing here. Oh, and cookies. They have great cookies and I have to just get one (fine, I'll be honest - it might be more sometimes)....NUM NUM NUM! If I have one gripe, it's the way that all the soups change every day. I always want the Creamy Tomato but it's only on Thursdays if I remember correctly, and generally I visit on Saturday since there's not one close to where I work. Sure, means it's all made fresh each day, but oh how I would give you that 5th star if you make this one available on Saturdays!!! read more

It is ok. I judge bakery's by their carrot cake, and theirs is just meh. Their pizza is good and sugar cookies are some of the best around too. Of you like large cinnamon rolls they have some big ones. Hear them slightly with some butter and mmmm your taste buds will want some more! read more

I've been eating at Village Baker since I was ten years old. It's hands down one of my favorite places for lunch! When they finally franchised, I was excited to have a closer to location to my home. My go-to order is a half turkey provolone on honey rye and a cup of broccoli cheese soup. I love this soup and practically happy-dance when I get it. The last 3 times I have ordered it though, it has been sub par. If the soup itself isn't cold, it's full of water or it's completely wrong! I didn't say anything the first two times as things happen, but this is my third time in a row with this location messing up my soup! I have ordered from Village Baker multiple times for 20+ people and I have never had the orders correct. Today however was the final straw. I was told they could not deliver our food as they had no drivers. Picked up our food and sitting outside my work is a Village Baker driver, who said, "oh I could have delivered that for you, had I known." - I also ordered a salad and was sent with no dressing for 20+ people. Village Baker has forever lost my business. My advice check and double check your order. Update they offered me money off my next order but no partial refund. read more

The person there told me there was a glitch in the system and it automatically defaults to the West Jordan location. They made me the food but my order was for 11:30 and I didn't get the food until 12:00. My girlfriend went to pick up the food this time and she ordered for pickup at 11:40 am and did not get her food until 12:05. She's ordering a salad. They didn't start making it until she arrived. She ordered online for pick up because she wanted to getting something quick. She ordered at 11 am so that's plenty of time. You won't find a better tasting egg salad sandwich in the SLC valley and the honey white bread is THICK, slightly sweet and delectably soft. They also do pizza by the slice up until the afternoon and their selection of salads is larger and more unique than most places. read more

Food was good, nothing to write home about. Soup was lukewarm, not sure if it was because the two employees couldn't stop being affectionate towards each other and forgot to hear everything up. Our kids were completely grossed out by these two employees that couldn't keep their hands off each other behind the counter. Then they moved it to a booth right next to us. The sounds of them kissing and such literally grossed us all out.
