I had the worst experience with the daughter of Village Cleaners in my 40 years of taking my clothes to a cleaners establishment. I moved to a different city and drove 45 minutes to my cleaners of many years and decided to try a cleaners closer to my home. I took my clothes to Village Cleaners, 2709 Marconi Ave, and spent around $300 end of last year and no issues. I took clothes back in May and spent $450. My jackets were discolored. I took two jackets back and spoke to the owner and asked if anything could be done for the color. I believe due to the language barrier the owner ask their daughter, Yum to called me. Yum called me Friday afternoon, asked about the jackets, did my closet have any sunlight (my closet do not have sunlight or windows), how old were my jackets (I have had my jackets many years and 100% cleaners serviced and no discoloration or issues) and spoke of how clothes bleed. She assured me that they valued their customers and want to make it right and offered me solutions. I texted her a picture of the jacket which I wore to my husbands funeral and a picture of the shorts to the red jacket (I texted her a picture of my green jacket that was discolored and another suit jacket missing a button that I asked nothing of her in return). I shared with Yum, I would like to go with restoring the color and asked what did she think. She agree that dying the two jackets is a good option and asked me to bring the jackets back and allow two weeks. I shared with Yum that the jackets were currently at the cleaners. I received a telephone call from Yum Saturday morning and she told me that they were willing to help me but decided to give me $29.00 for the cleaning charges. She said that I was trying to take advantage of their kindness. I was the type of person given an inch and I take a mile with kindness. In many words she told me I was being deceitful and wanted more than what was deserving. I said excuse me, Yum (I missed pronounced her name and very nasty she said that is not my name), I said ma'am how dare you have the audacity to call me and try to discredit my integrity. She became combative, unprofessional and very argumentative. I told her I was going to pray for her and her evil intensions. Yum became more unprofessional, disrespect and her demeanor was despicable. I told her I do not have to continue this abusive conversation, I spent almost $800 in two visits with your cleaners and I am trying to take advantage of you! I told Yum I am going to end this conversation and I disconnected the call. I texted her to let her know I will meet her and pick up my jackets by 1pm. I called before heading to the cleaners, her father said she was not there and asked that I call his daughter. I called, left a voice message and asked Yum to call me from a different number than hers, leave a voice message when she will be at the cleaners and I will come pick up my jackets. I have to say this is my worst experience with a place like this. I was referred here by a coworker of mine in which I trusted and it turned out bad for me. I brought my husbands shorts here which are True Religion (pretty expensive clothing if you are familiar with the brand). There was some stitching that had come undone on the design on one of the pockets, 2 areas where the pockets were separating from the shorts, and about a 1/2 inch hole in the crotch area of the shorts (these are sweat material shorts). The lady was very nice and welcoming when we arrived. When we asked if they were able to fix these shorts, the lady assured us that she was able to do anything. However, 3 days later when we picked the shorts up, we were anything but pleased with the results..... So the 2 areas where the pockets were separating from the shorts: the lady completely ignored these! She stated that was an extra price and I never mentioned this area. (This is false, I showed this to her and I paid for this already prior to the work being done) The design on the pocket: the lady used a different method of stitching that doesnt match what is already in the design and it turned out horrible. The lady also got out of the line with her machine and messed up the whole pattern of the design as well. (You can see my pictures of this) The 1/2 in hole in the shorts: the lady used a huge patch on the inside of the shorts that is hanging loose on the inside and much larger than the hole even was. She also went crazy with the stitching in all different directions and made a huge ugly mess on the outside of the shorts. I would have rather had this place be honest with me and turn down my business, than to completely destroy my clothing that I had brought to them and trusted them with. By all means-even if a place is much more expensive-----it is worth it!!! Turn the other way and run from here. If you care about your clothing, DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE!!! read more

A quiet older couple that I have been told has been in this location for years and years. All my coworkers and I have been using their services for years. Repairs, cleaning, whatever you need. All good so far. They do a really good job. They do write your name in the inside of your shirt but it's not visible. Prices are relatively stable, no random unexplainable charges or anything. read more

SITREP I discovered quickly that this cleaner is one of the "go-to" locations for Capitol staffers who have a jelly-jam-on-shirt-stain problem, or fix-the-pant-inseam problem like STAT! You are bound to run into a local politico sometime if you come here often enough. SETUP For me, my problem was a bit more complex than just a clean - I needed to get some new pants hemmed and this location has (or sends out) a great seamstress function. Only a few blocks away from where I work, it's just a quick hike away and I get to prevent trippage over my own two feet with the long legs. THE LOWDOWN A very good hem work on some nice dress pants. First, let me start by saying that I hate leaving negative reviews, especially for local establishments. I have previously used Village Cleaners and had a positive experience - my suits and shirts came out fresh and neatly pressed. My only qualm when I previously used them is that I was surprised that they wrote my name in permanent marker on the placket of my shirt (where the buttons are located in a button-up shirt) when I picked it up; I did not mind, but it would have been nice to know in advance of them doing that (something to keep in mind if you have a really high end shirt that you do not want to have written on in permanent marker). However, the reason for my negative review is that I went in today and brought in the same exact 4 button-down shirts that I previously had dry cleaned here and the staff member wanted to charge me more than double the price. The staff member charged them as blouses and then gave me the receipt. When I noticed they were over double the previous price, I questioned her on it politely and explained that these are button-up shirts and not blouses. I shared with her that I came in previously and the same 4 shirts were previously charged as shirts, she starred at me blankly and said "these are blouses." The shirts that I brought in truly were shirts - collared, button-down oxford shirts from J.Crew. I asked what makes them blouses instead of a shirt and she said it is because they're women's. Last time when I came in, the male staff member (a different staff member than this interaction) asked me if my shirts were my husband's (as a queer person this was off-putting and felt odd to me and should not matter who the shirts belong to anyway) - however, if they charge women more by charging their shirts as blouses then this makes more sense about why he asked that (while still being extremely concerning and problematic). On principle, I took my shirts with me and brought them to another dry cleaners nearby which charged me less than half the price at Village Cleaners. If you are a woman, I encourage you to make sure you are charged appropriately. read more

They are the worst!! The lady is so rude and she does half ass work!! Nothing is ready when they it is ready. Plus she burned my daughters dress and left spots all over it!!! If you can go ANYWHERE else do it! I for one will never return. read more

I found a shirt they laundered to have blemishes that were not there when I took it in, I brought this to both owners attention thinking that they would offer to try and remedy the problem O no all they could say was it was like this when I brought it in I explained that I had brought it in before without blemishes they had cleaned this same shirt with no problem on prior visits, but no all they would say is it was this way all along I asked what they were going to do about this they just looked at me like I had two heads, I finally gave up, i took the shirts that I was bringing in to get cleaned and left thoroughly dissatisfied. Brought in a shirt to be dry cleaned to hopefully get a stain out. Not only did the stain not come out, but the sleeves had shrunk considerably - which can happen when you launder a shirt versus dry-cleaning it. Thought about bringing in the shirt to discuss it with the owners but after reading the other reviews (which only confirm my impression of them) I won't be wasting my time, nor will I ever be returning, no matter what coupon they put out. I took 5 pair of heels to have tips put on and two pillows laundered. The total bill was $85.00. The tips on the heels were plastic and this is the only tips they have. The pillows were $35 and tips were $9 a piece. I will not be returning. read more

I can't even give this place a star. Went there for the first time last week with 4 shirts to be laundered. I knew something wasn't going to be right when the woman didn't even greet me or look me in the eye. When I went to pick up the shirts 4 days later, the owner (the husband) was there and handed me my shirts. I pointed out that the collars weren't pressed very nicely, and asked if he could redo them. He immediately started yelling and cursing at me (f*** you, you bi**h) and then he came from behind the counter still yelling. I got out of there as quickly as I could. Needless to say, I won't be back! Reported them to the Better Business Bureau and to the Property Manager at Town & Country Village. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE!!!! read more

This is my favorite cleaners. My clothes are always well cared for and perfectly pressed to my taste. I am very petite, so most of my clothes require some alteration. The owner has altered pants and dresses perfectly for my shorter frame. read more
