This was quite a pleasant surprise! We stumbled into this diner during a snowstorm and we were super close by so we decided to try it. Great food options, the service was excellent, super clean establishment, and it was just a quaint and lovely experience! Breakfast for dinner was pretty good. The pies are just OK. Will def come back for the food and the service!

Denver omelette & hash browns. Added the cholula myself.

Might be a chain. If so, this is the first time I've visited. Got a denver omelette which came with hash browns and my choice of other starch. Ordered cranberry juice and it was a GENEROUS serving. Like, probably 14-15 oz. Huge glassful. Server was fast and effective though kept trying to pep it up with comments like "tear it up". I guess it's better than being glum Hash browns ok though a bit soggier than I like. I didn't specify scattered though so that's on me. Denver omelette passable. Got no complaints really though it didn't inspire me to more praise. TL, DR - decent breakfast place hard by the Planet Fitness so perfect for a post-workout feed.

Only place around that was not fast food and the sign says best pie in the world! Ordered a Reuben and fries, nice sandwich for the price, only $11 used to much larger sandwiches back east but for 15.00. Could have had more Russian dressing. The other meal was the Ultimate skillet, sausage, bacon, ham, scallions, cheese, two eggs and home fries and was equal to any diner back east. Service was great and food served in 5 min. I would come back again and try the pies. Staff was friendly and bathrooms clean.

Definitely my favorite place for breakfast!! The California skillet is my favorite!!! The crepes are so good! The banana cream pie to die for! Can't wait to go back! Thankful my friend showed me this place. Staff was very friendly and clean!

The best apple pie ever. Had it to go or it'd be a la mode. Scrumptious crust and that's not an understatement.

When we arrived and sat down, we were greeted by Joe telling us that "House rules, you're not allowed to order the same item". Lol. Love that guy! We both ordered Denver omelets, one without onions, extra mushrooms, French toast, and grits and one without mushrooms, hash browns, and pancakes. First off, the pancakes were amazing! They're light, had crispy edges, and had a wonderful flavor. But the best thing was it was in the shape of little donuts, which was a nice surprise. Our entrees came but were somehow got switched. We didn't realize it at first but both were still good. Unfortunately, my wife put Chalula on hers and I put Tobasco on mine and we don't like each other's choice of condiments. The other unfortunate thing was that I had an eggshell in my omelet. Even though we had these misfortunes you can't hide the flavor of these dishes and they certainly don't skimp on toppings. My grits were too sweet today. If it's too sweet for me, it must've been really sweet. The only other criticism I saw was that they were filling the syrup bottles from large Log Cabin jugs. They also were using Idahoan shredded potatoes from a large carton. I can understand the potatoes but how great would it be to have freshly made syrup. Still a great experience and they are still one of the best breakfast places on the state.

My husband got the eggs & diced ham with a side of biscuits and gravy. My son got the French Dip because you can order breakfast or lunch at 10 am. Everyone ate a good portion if not all of their food. It was good. We will definitely be back. For the food but more for the service!

But then came the steak, which was flat-out the best I've had in years. No notes. Here's the thing though, I'm not a gnocchi person. Never have been. Our server talked me into it anyway, and I'm genuinely grateful. It's a short rib and stew situation with gnocchi that somehow hits every note perfectly. Total convert now. And the s'mores pie to close out the night? Simply perfect. Don't skip it. The service was great too, our server clearly knew the menu inside and out and steered us exactly right.

However, we did have one drink server where we had some issues with, but our main waitress was lovely. For starters, our table shared the baked ricotta, balsamic glazed brussel sprouts, and bread rolls with honey and butter. The brussel sprouts were good, but the bread rolls were my favorite! They were so incredibly soft and pillowy. They honestly didn't even need the bread and butter! I was most excited for the baked ricotta, but unfortunately it was a disappointment for me. Ricotta is a very mild cheese to begin with, but I tasted absolutely zero flavor from it and it was mostly just adding a textural element to the bread. The fig walnut guanciale jam was overpoweringly sweet and the guanciale was also nonexistent. Overall, what I expected to be a flavorful combination, fell pretty flat and bland for me. Onto the main, I got to try the Block burger and the house made gnocchi. The burger was a standard burger, nothing too crazy. I was surprised the patty was actually moist because it was cooked well done. The same jam from the baked ricotta was used, so wasn't a big fan of it because again the overwhelmingly sweet didn't do much to elevate the burger. I also missed any flavor from the truffle cheese sauce. So it was a pretty average burger. My gnocchi definitely tasted better than it looked. Another friend also got the same dish and it looked like they just split our portions in half and served it on two separate plates. In general, I wasn't a big fan of this dish. The braised short rib was very tender, but the whole plate sat in a pool of salty sauce. I couldn't really make out any other flavors. The scoop of crème fraiche tasted exactly like sour cream and was not the consistency that I expected. The gnocchi's were made well, but I prefer mine a little firmer. However, this is complete personal preference. Overall, service was good, but food fell severely short of what I expected. I was so excited for all of these elevated flavors and ingredients, but, sadly, none of them came through.

I recommend joining the waitlist in advance. It's tough to choose from such a wide range of delicious options, but my go-to pick is always the Mixed Berry Dutch Baby, Baby! The berry syrup and cream cheese topping set it apart from other breakfast places. We also had the Classic Breakfast Special, with crispy bacon cut thick to perfection. The interior is one of the most distinctive things about the place. Nearly all the Art Deco furnishings, the booths, mahogany paneling, black glass counter, and light fixtures, were salvaged from Lamb's Grill, a Salt Lake City restaurant that had operated since 1919 before closing in 2017. Eating here feels a bit like dining inside a piece of Utah history. The service is usually excellent, and you can tell they take the motto behind their name seriously: "True service is true religion." This visit, our waitress did seem in a rush to turn the table, but the quality of the food made it easy to overlook. Worth noting: they run a Second Chances charity that supports people in recovery from addiction, those reintegrating into society after incarceration, and folks rebuilding after financial hardship or other life challenges. It's a meaningful mission, and it's part of what makes this place feel different from your average breakfast spot.

When I reminded them that they are in violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act, the manager, Mirta Solis just shrugged and said that's the policy. However, it is 50°, I'm dressed in shorts and a T-shirt, and I would be uncomfortably chilly having to sit outside. Regardless of my comfort, this is still of course, a violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act. Service dog handlers beware, this is not a restaurant in compliance with the ADA. My friend and I had the Traditional Navajo Taco(s) and his wife had the Sheep's Steak Salad. Everything was delicious. All in all a really good meal, didn't even miss the gourmet burgers. So yes, you better make a reservation. And this was a Thursday night. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind.
