I had the worst experience. I asked for natural looking matte acrylic nails. I wanted it to look like I my nails weren't done. Just matte and natural. When he got done with them they were SO ugly. I also had a black spec on my pinky nail and asked him what was that? And he said it was under. I said oh can that come off? He said no it's fine. My nails were shiny and had bubbles and they are hideous. I've never had such horrible experience. They also never touch your cuticles and don't clean your cuticles up. read more

Unassuming establishment--I wouldn't have stopped in if my friend hadn't recommended it--with a very kind staff and a large selection of regular and shellac polish. There's a 5% discount for Vanderbilt students. I'll definitely go back! Edited 3/25/16: I brought some friends here to get pedicures. Theirs looked great, but mine was awful. Technician cut my nails crooked and was only going to apply one coat of a very light polish until I asked her to do more. I guess the quality of service is highly dependent upon your technician. Don't go for the experience, go for the cheap nails. It feels pretty crowded inside and I would not describe it as relaxing. It also appears pretty run down. Not super dirty or anything but just not aesthetically pleasing. The technicians are pretty much all business which is fine with me. I wasn't feeling crazy confident about the sanitation of the tools or the pedicure tubs. When my sister sat down for the pedicure the tub was already full of ice cold water so there's really no knowing if it was clean or not. The tools used on my nails were just pulled out of a little pouch...not like sitting on a clean towel or anything. But....both of our nails look great! And it wasn't too expensive! Hello, I had been walking around for about one hour in new shoes, and ended up getting blisters on my feet. Since it had been a while since I had a pedicure, I decided it was a good time to pamper myself. When I walked into Village Nails & Spa, I was immediately greeted and tended to. I had a male work on my nails, who was very accommodating and skilled. I got the Spa Treatment, and the warm lavender lotion and scrub felt amazing. My toes look great, I did not feel rushed, I was able to relax, it was a good price for a spa treatment pedi (28$) and I felt much better when leaving. He even delicately put some bandaids on my feet from the blisters before putting my shoes back on my feet!! I plan on going again for a mani -- ! read more

I will never return to this place for a manicure again. After making my friends and I wait for about 40 minutes, they did a horrendously quick procedure on my nails. The woman was extremely rude and demanding. The atmosphere of the salon was distasteful. The towel that I put my hands on had other peoples dead skin still on it! How repulsive! I usually get the Aloha, it's the middle of the road one, and is MAGICAL. You basically get three massages out of it- they are not skimpy about their massage time either! I continually hunt for a good nail place that I can use every month...one that makes me feel like I am valuable, not part of an assembly line...one at which I can establish a rapport with one person who will work with me each time I go and remember my particular needs/wants. Well, I thought I found that here but it only lasted about a year. For the second (and last) time, I called to set an appointment, was told a time to be there, then was put off once I did get there. The last time, it was to be over an hour before I could have my nails done...and I was there when they told me to be there! I had a person I relied on and even a backup when they were not available. I would come about once a month and felt I was generous with tipping...I would consider myself a "regular" customer. I guess loyalty doesn't count for much. There are so many nail salons to pick from---I found another place that seems to appreciate me more. We'll see. read more

What a great, hidden-away little place! I've tried several other nail spas in the Nashville area but I keep coming back to this one. 1. They have very decent prices. I get gel manicures, which means every two-three weeks I need a polish change. Some places charge you an arm and a leg to soak off the gel and then change the color, but Village Nails is very affordable. 2. They do a great job for the price. I always seem to go at the perfect time when there's no wait. A couple times I arrived before a bunch of other people, but my attendants have never rushed and done a less than great job on my nails. 3. They're very efficient. Sometimes fast = poor quality, but with this place I know I can be in and out in a half hour and have gel nails that will last me at least two weeks before chipping. Even though it's a little small/dingy and sometimes short-staffed, they've never been anything but friendly and courteous. Love this place! read more

I love that this little nail salon is a short walk from my apartment. It is a fantastic place to go when you feel like a little pampering. I usually get a gel manicure or a regular pedicure. They offer a few different pedicure options, one of which involves dipping your feet in gel (kind of grosses me out, but people seem to love it). The nail techs are very nice and the vibe is always calming. I appreciate the wine they offer. My only complaint is the last gel manicure I received was not as good as usual. There is a big dent in one of my nails and it chipped a little after a week. This is rare, though. All of my other manicures have been great. read more

I personally would not waste your money!! I've had a better fill in and polish change on my toes done else where and for a lot better of a price. I've had my nails done for approx. 1 hour and 3 of my nails are already smudged, and that's after I sat there letting them dry with the air blowing on them for at least 10 min like the guy had told me. Not really sure why they didn't put me under the table that has the lights and fans on it, but guess I won't have to worry about it since I'll never be returning here. So beware the customer service is not great. And they don't seem to care about the hard earned money you intend on spending in there establishment unless your having the overly priced shellac done and then they seem to do a descent job! read more

I went to this salon this past Sunday in a pinch because I had a presentation the next morning and had three broken nails and about a three weeks of growth on my acrylic set. I called to make sure that they could fit me in before they closed at five, which they informed me they could. I rushed down there and was seated right away. I was given the color wheel but was rushed while looking through them. Once I identified the color I wanted the technician said okay, light pink and grabbed the first light pink she saw, not the color I had asked for. Because I liked the color, I moved on. When I arrived I had gel polish on my nails so she began to drip/file it off. She did not get it all completely off before moving on to fill in my nails and replace the broken ones. When she began filling my nails she did not put acrylic all the way up the nail, just near the bottom where there was a gap. This left my nails pretty uneven pre-file. And somewhat unstable right now. After she was done filling them in, when she began to shape and file them on the sides she was filing my finger. After I pointed this out to her because my finger was bleeding she apologized, but went on to do the same thing on another finger. I have two fingers on my right hand that had literally been filed open on both sides. When using the drill her hand slipped and she took a chunk of nail out and never went back to fix it... Then when we get to the polish stage, I decide I want to change my color, which she agrees to. I find the gel color I want and she mentions to me that it will be $30 . I figure cool, a fill is $22, and gel polish costs $8 more. She goes on to inform me that it is $30 MORE dollars for gel polish? I looked at their price list and the price of a gel manicure is $35, so essentially they want me to pay for a fill AND a gel manicure, which was NOT going to happen. I found a regular polish equivalent. She had me pay before she painted my nails, something I wish I had protested to more strongly because after how my nails turned out I would have tipped differently. She begins to polish my nails and is rushing. I am sure this is because they were close to closing. However, this resulted in almost all of my nails having visibly two different coats on my nails. Her last coat did not cover the whole now, something I could not see when they were still wet. It now looks lumpy and as if my nails are peeling. My BIGGEST complaint is that I noticed after arriving home, a crack in my thumbnail. The SAME EVENING. I had not driven so I could not have cracked in that time period. The next day while drying my hands a thread got caught in ANOTHER nail.. So in less than 24 hours I had identified TWO cracks on two different nails...And these are not short cracks, one of them goes almost all the way across the nail... I went in to get a relaxing gel manicure (which was nowhere near relaxing). The man who did my nails (older, wears glasses) immediately said as I sat down, "hm. Wow. So you don't have nails huh." Like I didn't already know that?! Yes, my nails are really short, but I came to get them done so they can grow... he then turned to who he was working next to, said something I was unable to translate, and they both chuckled. Throughout the whole session, he continued to shake his head, looking annoyed and mad that my nails were short. I felt harassed, and that is why they will no longer receive my business. It was sloppy work overall. There was a little bit of the base polish on my finger which he didn't do anything about, and it ended up melting on my finger. Are you kidding me?? Village is very hit or miss for me. I have some decent experiences and some bad. They definitely rush through the appointment and don't customize the service based on the individual client. My cuticles usually bleed when I get a pedicure and they are too rough with the scrubbing (which means a lot coming from me because the scrub is my favorite part of a pedicure). Every other place I've been to in Nashville has had horrible customer service and shoddy results. Everyone in this place does a good job and is welcoming, but Bao is the only one I see now because my nails are perfection every time! Whatever you do, don't go to Venetian by Green Hills. Worst experience of my life. Village Nails can be busy on the weekends, but during the week it's always a quiet and relaxing experience. Took an out of town guest here for manicures on New Years Eve day and we were both very impressed. Everyone was so nice and our manicures were fast, inexpensive, and pretty much perfect. I paid $18 for a manicure with the Vinylux polish that's an extra $3 and my friend got a French manicure with gold tips, which was an extra few dollars, as is typical with French. I had been going to a place in Green Hills, but after having two horrible experience recently I am switching to Village Nails. read more
