Service was good, nothing amazing. I got a basic gel manicure on my fingernails with NO TIPS (which were already bare, no removal necessary) and a pedicure with just basic polish. When I went to pay, the total was $143. Mind you this was BEFORE a tip. I'm usually not a stickler for this kind of stuff but that is literally insane to pay for two extremely basic services. My friend got a pedicure with me and just did basic polish nothing else and it was $77 which is crazy for an experience that was not "luxury", just average at best. I should have asked for a receipt but I was so shocked that I just paid and left. Probably the worst customer service I've ever received at a nail salon. I know that I was the only person of color and understood I wasn't draped in designer and jewelry as I was staying upstairs at the Moxy and just needed a simple pedicure, but the manager kept repeating prices to me, seats me, and repeats prices again. Gets my nail tech and repeats the prices again as if I'm going to run out on my service. Needless to say, the price of my basic pedi without nail extensions and gel was 88 without tip. Even when I told him I didn't get the tip or French design... So they gave the price they originally quoted me. So not only did I receive deplorable service, I was overcharged. If you look like me! Lily did an incredible job with my nails! She was very understanding of my cluelessness as this was only my second time getting my nails done. She adjusted the polish I picked to make it as dark as I wanted. I thought the glitter was a little gold for what I had in mind, but honestly, I love the result. I will lean toward something more silver next time, but this still looks beautiful. Also, the nail art she did was stunning! I was not expecting perfection or for it to resemble the picture so closely, but she made it happen! The team was also very gracious because I scheduled the incorrect appointment type but they still made it work. Lily had to rush because of my scheduling mistake towards the end of the appointment, but my nails were still flawless! I will be more aware of how to schedule next time! He recently moved from his last nail bar to Chao, and I can't recommend him enough!! He's done my nails on a regular basis and for every special occasion (my wedding, bachelorette weekend, awards weeks, etc) over the last few years, and he never misses!!! Today was my first time at Chao, and I was extremely impressed! The atmosphere was fresh and inviting, the massage chairs were the best I've encountered, there's a delicious coffee shop right next door, a super fun playlist on - the vibes are just right! Made an appointment for two mani pedis at 4:30pm. At 4:33pm we got a voicemail that we better show up because they would cancel us at 15min past. We called at least 4 times to let trim know we were pulling in. We arrived at 4:40pm and she said she cancelled our appointment. Completely unprofessional and did not honor their policy of 15minutes. This was my first time visiting here and I was so satisfied during and after the experience. First, yes, this place is pricey, but it really is worth it, because I only have to get my nails done about once a month. I've been to so many nail salons in Nashville and Chao so far is the best. I like to review places after I've visited at least twice for consistency of service. I actually ended up here due to an ad on IG so I was a little hesitant. Turns out this was back when they first opened. My expectations were high because of the area & their amazing social media person who does great with the pictures. Let's get to it; this place and the vibe are undeniable great. Super clean, high standards at the stations and all around the salon. Everyone is friendly and accommodating as long as they know exactly what you need. I read some of the reviews about people rushing you or being shuffle to someone else but it comes down to time. Some techs have appts back to back and adding/changing your service on the spot is something they find hard to accommodate. Time is money. I get it. Parking is behind the building and they do validate. Prices are clearly stated on the website. I've always made an appointment online as their system is user friendly so I don't know how flexible they are with walk-ins. Quality of work? Top of the line. This is a fantastic nail salon at a great location in Hillsboro Village. I was staying nearby and decided to treat myself to a basic mani pedi prior to my flight the next day. I booked super last minute online (about an hour before the posted time) and the team here called to confirm. Super easy process to book and I was grateful they were able to squeeze me in. I had a prosecco upon arrival and sat in the pedicure chair. I didn't catch the name of my technician but he did a wonderful job. They have a great color wall with a not-overwhelming number of choices. My most basic mani pedi cost $40 total and I felt super relaxed throughout. A great option if you're in the area! Chao is a lovely salon that does good work. They are EXPENSIVE but they definitely strive to provide a service aligned with their pricing. That said, there were some bell and whistles--not anticipating my services requests in terms of type of pedicure (I wanted more than a basic pedi and had to ask for a pricing in order to pick an upgrade) and picking colors come to mind--that felt lacking. This is not to say they were slacking; I wouldn't normally expect those things if pricing wasn't so exorbitant. But if you're charging $180 for a premium pedicure option, I frankly do expect it everything to feel white glove. While I do think they're overpriced, it's not a dealbreaker. They accommodate and are aware of all nail art trends so you'll be able to get whatever look you want, and they do at least attempt to provide a luxury service and premiere customer service. Down to the fact that they personalize your dip powder container--no community dipping! Very classy and hygienic and worth the four stars, in my opinion. This was my first visit after friends have been encouraging me to go for some time, and I'm glad I did. read more

Highly recommend her, especially if you're into stiletto shaping and acrylics (Chao doesn't do acrylic) - She changed me over to flex gel and I love it! She's fun to talk to, makes my appointments feel like girlfriend time instead of a chore. Philip gives great pedicures (though I will say, I've always had a great experience with all here). Not only is this place SUPER cute, but the service is amazing! The decor is this place is chic and classy. The selection of polish, dips and gel is endless. They serve refreshments, wine, champagne, and if you're feeling real good they have 24k champagne. But seriously, best mani/pedi with dip/gel I've ever gotten. They don't use the same dip powder everyone uses. They put the powder in a separate dish, which I appreciate greatly. Not to mention, their massage chairs we're absolutely amazing! I could have stayed on that thing all day. Everyone there is very friendly and they make you feel like you're all friends. They helped me pick my colors and ran me through the process. I really like my nails! To the person who did my nails, they look nice. If all you want are cute nails, go! If you want an actual luxury experience at your nail bar, this might not be for you. The greeter was nice. She told me to pick my color. I was confused and overwhelmed bc I knew I was getting build in a bottle on my hands and regular polish on my toes. I couldn't find close colors. My regular person usually picks that for me at my normal place. A very nice lady came over to help. She told me I looked confused hahaha. She was so right. They didn't have matching shades and because I didn't want to spend an extra $25 on my toes I went with it. Nothing else really stands out. I kept looking at how my toes were pink and fingers were orange. While both cute, it's not my norm. I didn't get a beverage when asked by the lady who assisted with my nail polish. I should have. Didn't have another opportunity. Seemed rush. It was a Friday afternoon so maybe it was pretty booked. Everyone before me was asked about validation. I had to ask about it myself when I checked out. Again, I like my nails. But nothing really stood out about the place. If I'm in need of nail care pampering and cannot get to my regular place, I will probably just hold off.
