Beautiful selection of plants that thrive in the local area. You could get lost for days just looking at all the different plants and other items in the store. Very happy with the selection, prices are slightly higher than going to one of the large home improvement stores but the plants seemed hardier and healthier. Service is good, the nursery was busy with new plants coming in but people working in the store still made time to assist or answer any questions. Will be going back again soon. read more

My husband and I have a large property surrounded by trees and landscaping, and we regularly purchase plants for our home. Last Sunday, we purchased four large junipers and two large potted plants from the Village Nursey. Unfortunately, the very next day after planting, one of the potted plants began to wilt and die. I called the Village Nursery to explain the situation and let them know that I had photos clearly showing the condition of both plants. I simply asked to return the unhealthy plant for store credit, especially since my receipt clearly states a 30-day return policy. I was extremely disappointed by the owner's response. Rather than being helpful or trying to resolve the situation professionally, I found the interaction unfriendly and dismissive. I was not asking for anything unreasonable--only store credit for a plant that began failing within a day of purchase. We have a large property and would have happily continued purchasing plants from this nursery. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will not be returning. I also cannot recommend this nursery to our friends and family here in Lake Arrowhead or to the many friends who visit us from Los Angeles. Good customer service matters, especially when something goes wrong. This experience left us feeling that our business was simply not valued. read more

This mountain nursery may look modest from the parking lot, but it is brimming with plants, shrubs and trees in multiple indoor and outdoor sections. Village Nursery is a feast for the eyes with carefully thought out placement of its plants that gives designer vibes while also boasting reasonable pricing. There are whimsical bits of garden decor sprinkled throughout the outdoor shopping areas, with considerably more inside in their 'boutique'. I was able to find handmade ceramic mushrooms for $19.99 that are identical to the $60 ones we would buy at the Laguna Beach Sawdust Festival - such a deal! The plants are priced well for the mountains (these nurseries tend to be higher than down in the flats) and what is appreciated is that Village Nursery only stocks plants that are appropriate for the climate, unlike another local nursery I won't mention. There is a nice gift shop inside on the main floor that sells handmade textile ponchos and rugs, and attractive gifts that would work well for mountain friends. For the first time this past weekend I discovered they also have an upstairs clothing boutique featuring what I believe are handmade designs from India that are either bejeweled or otherwise adorned. Great place to get plants that are native to the area. Great selection and super helpful employees. My entire garden came from here and the plants are simply stunning. They also have a fabulous gift store inside the shop with the most unique things I have seen. Love this place. Camille, the owner, is horribly and chronically rude. Do yourself a favor and shop at Four Seasons Garden Center in Cedar Glen instead. I spent several hundred dollars on flowers over the course of a couple days, and came back to buy a big tree I had had my eye on all week. The employees were nearly done unloading a big truck when one approached me and asked if I needed any help. And then, this blows my mind, the owner Camille, actually yelled at ME! She very aggressively approached me like I did something horribly wrong and said, "I need her to unload the truck! What do YOU want?" As if it was my fault her employee was polite enough to ask me if I needed help!!! I said that I just needed the price of a tree. She yells "JUST LOOK AT THE TAG THEY'RE ALL LABELED" (Ummm, no, they're not. This is one of my frustrations with shopping there). So now she insults my intelligence as if I don't know how to read numbers on a tag. If this point I'd like to just get a tree, any tree, and go. So I point to one they just pulled off the truck and ask if anyone knows how much that one costs. The employee says that the owner would have to look it up. So I find the owner, the only one who allegedly knows how much items cost, and ask her how much that one is. She looks at me unbelieving and actually says " Why are you still here talking to me? I have three people on the floor are they ALL refusing to help you?" At this point I'm feeling a little protective of my pride, and point out that the original tree I wanted was indeed, not labeled. And, according to the employee, Camille is the only one who might know how much this other tree they just pulled off the truck costs. She says she doesn't know and will have to look it up. I say "fine, could you hold it for me until you figure it out?" She says NO! She seems truly inconvenienced by customers trying to buy things from her and very unaware of her own inventory. I should've learned my lesson earlier in the week when I bought a $200 rhododendron. That day I asked her if she had any purple ones, and she just responded " They're all mixed in" I noticed there were a lot, and kind of spread all over the place. I did have other things to do that day instead of cross checking plants scientific name on my phone to try to Google what color it is. So I asked, "Well, is there ANYONE who knows where ANY purple rhododendrons are?" "THEY'RE ALL MIXED IN" she repeats. A kind employee takes pity on me and starts looking, but she can't tell what color the rhododendrons are either (Again with the missing label thing) so I end up finding one myself. After horrible experience after horrible experience I found another nursery! Four Season Garden Center in Cedar Glen is really growing, and guess what? They put prices on their plants, and the owner doesn't even yell at you for asking questions. read more

You wont find a better place on the mountain that takes care of there plants like Village Nursery. Not only beautiful on the outside but there gift shop on the inside is amazing and unique. I love this place! The people who work here are very knowledgeable about plants and will guide you with your selection of indoor or outdoor plants. I've bought herbs, indoor and outdoor plants here and I'm very happy with my selections. I'm new to the mountain and don't want to buy plants and then kill them. So it's a learning process. But they sell plants that do well up here on the mountain! Thx ladies for all your help! I wish I could buy more each week. But I look forward to my next visit! I suggest go in every two weeks to browse the plants and see what tickles your fancy. You'll be glad you did! read more

There just isn't a better nursery. The people are amazingly helpful, friendly and they have huge inventory at the fair prices. They offer advice on how to keep your garden organic, know which species do best in your particular microclimate, how much maintenance demands to expect from different plants and how to conserve water. Camille, is the go-to person for what type of plant will work best in your yard, how to feed it, how to water it, and how it grows. She does not try to up-sell anyone - but tries to educate those of us with little knowledge of plants so we can make an informed decision. Bad customer service, rude owners, claustrophobic, and disorganized. Couldn't even make past the outdoor plants. Paths are EXTREMELY narrow and no room to pass people. Also very expensive, especially when I went to Ace and found the same plants much better priced. Go to Ace, or head off the mountain. read more

This nursery has beautiful plants and a fantastic selection. Jennifer was wonderful and patient as I took time to determine which plants would work for us ( we are new to the area). That's the positive. Immediately upon turning in to the parking lot a couple of minutes after 9 am (when they open), I was chased away by one if the company representatives yelling that I could not park, since I would be in their way (they were unloading new arrivals) and that they were not open ( They open at 9, so that puzzled me a bit). I ended up parking across the street, then decided to just come back, since they were busy and I did not want to be in the way. I returned about an hour later, made my selections and bought quite a few plants. Two days later, one of the mixed arrangements I had purchased looked terrible. I had properly cared for it, and found it odd that the same flower in one color was dying, while the alternate color was flourishing. I called on the third day after purchase, and spoke with the owner Camille, who curtly informed me that they do not accept returns on plant material and pointed out that this was stated on my receipt. I explained that I simply wanted to exchange ( in retail, returns and exchanges are handled differently) for a healthy plant. She said no. Never will shop there again, but will instead choose to work with the staff at Ace Hardware/garden in Crestline. I called them shortly after my conversation with Village Nursery, and they said their policy IS to accept exchanges on plants. I also own a small retail business, and work with the public daily, so I'm especially disappointed in the response I received from Village Nursery. I was completely willing to overlook being rudely chased out of the parking lot, but their unwillingness to exchange an unhealthy plant within 3 days of puchase (I bought 175.00 worth of potted seasonal color) is just not the way to build customer loyalty. That frequent buyer card I was given will no longer be needed. read more

these guys are horrible...i bought a blue spruce tree there , for my deceased son's memorial ..for $109.00. it was recommended by the lady who works there as a hardy tree...we wanted something that would grow strong and tall to keep my son's memory alive... the needles started falling off right away , and now the thing is almost totally bare....we are heart-broken...we had a tree planting ceremony, and ,with loving thoughts had great expectations for the tree to grow with loving care... village nursery would neither replace the tree, or give us our money back! you are better off getting your plants at home depot or walmart... they replace plants that don't do well... these guys are crooks! do not buy anything from village nursery in rim forrest! read more

My kids could care less about their dog, but then the rude lady who works there has the audacity to come up to me and say, "The dog is not good with kids." Oh, I'm sorry that I came to spend money at your establishment and you have an unleashed dog running around who is not good with kids. We left. We'll never go back.
