When I lived in town it was the only place I went.. now that have had it since ordering it with my boyfriend, my grinder was all over the place and soggy (steak and cheese) the pizza was not good (meat lovers) the only thing that I like better than ever is the mozzarella sticks. I know prices have gone up but $85+ for 2 orders of Moz sticks, a large (size of a medium but could be a small) and a 16" grinder! No way! Not anymore read more

Granddaughter's bday yesterday, hubby WALKS IN to order a FAMILY size & small pizza for her get together. He walks in & they had a different name in the order than what he gave them. Charged way more than what is on their menu on here (YELP). He brought it to their attention and the person claimed their haven't been fixed. Ummm you should have given us those prices. *1-customer service sucks (getting his name wrong & prices). We get to our granddaughters house for her 15th bday get together. Open this FAMILY size pizza (this doesn't look FAMILY size in comparison to other restaurants). No pepperoni on it that was ordered, just a cheese pizza. The small pizza was correct surprisingly. Hubby called them and they tried to say they did it correctly (the small paper attached to side of the box only says cheese). After him reading that slip to them & reminding them what he ordered they said we can remake one or give you a refund. WELL we pizza for this so remake it! He brought the slip to show them as well. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS PLACE & WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN AS WE HAVE IN THE PAST!! Pic attached shows exactly what they entered AND the person cannot even spell either. Stopped here today for lunch after the restaurant we intended to go to appeared to be closed. My parents hadn't been here for a long time and decided to give it another chance. I am so glad we chose to stop here, which is now 40 years old. The inside was nice looking with its various paintings, color changing neon lights surrounding boards advertising specials of the day, a cute little fish tank, and even our table showed businesses to help spread awareness. Our waitress was very nice and provided excellent service. We ordered a medium sausage and mushroom pizza which was delicious, well baked and seasoned, with a good golden brown crust and delicious gooey cheese, tasty smooth sauce (which my dad especially liked as it wasn't chunky; he's not a fan of chunky sauce), it lived up to our pizza loving expectations wonderfully. All in all, a wonderful little pizza restaurant, and I definitely intend to be a repeat customer here in the future. read more

I have no shame to admit that I love Village Pizza. I grew up with it, and its ALWAYS one of my first stops back when I'm visiting from out of town. You guessed it, I even have a Village Pizza t shirt. You could say there's this understated "rivalry" among locals between Village pizzas and Roma pizzas, (a restaurant down the street) and yes, you guessed it - I'm a VP girl. It's not your typical "Italian pizza", so you can't really compare it to the majority of other Italian owned restaurants in the area. The owners are Greek, and they put a beautiful spin on the pie with a soft crust, gooey cheese, and savory sauce. My other go-to is the chicken parmesan grinder (also known as a "sub" if you're visiting from out of state). It's a locals spot, the food is consistent, and the waitresses have always given me great (and fast!) service. Thanks Village, for being a staple and one of my favorite spots to get a great pizza. read more

Pizza was really good! I had Hawaiian and wife had hamburgers and onions. Good quality, fresh ingredients and plentiful toppings. Cheese was excellent and the crust seemed to be a cross between Greek and italian. Not much sauce compared to the cheese, but no complaints! All very, very good. Service was excellent! Ordered a large Chicken Scampi pizza and asked if I could substitute mushrooms in place of broccoli. I was told yes, and placed the order. When I picked up the pizza, I was negatively surprised by the price - $28.11 instead of $21.95 plus tax. I was told the mushrooms were an additional $3.50. Even with that addition, the price of the pizza with tax would not have been $28.11. So I called back and was told the menu on line was not correct. They had just increased prices. And finally, the crust was cooked too much. I won't be ordering there again anytime soon. read more

I ordered the pasta alla vodka and while it tasted good, it definitely didn't taste like any pasta alla vodka dish I've ever had. It was also insanely greasy once reheated. I had to go around the bowl with multiple paper towels to sop it all up before I ate my leftovers. Good sized portion though, it lasted me for like 3 meals. read more

This restaurant was able to stay open throughout Covid phase one because they do an awesome amount of take out! My husband and I frequently eat there on Friday nights (now in phase 3) so we watch them bang out orders to go (sometimes an hour wait which tells you it's good food). I wouldn't say the servers are not friendly, but I would say they act professional. Giving the fact of the volume of business they do during rush hour... honesty I wouldn't want my server standing table side making friendly conversation when all I want is good fast service. It's a matter of perception, being in food service myself, I don't take it personally if a server is super busy and has a serious look on their face. I would recommend trying their pizza!! First few visits were spot on. We suddenly noticed a bad shift in service this summer. Waits during pick ups started holding me up 10 to 30 minutes after they told me to show up. When you arrive at the register, expect a long wait of no contact and upset faces. The team has zero issue answering the phone before even acknowledging you for standing there over 5 minutes. The cooks look over at you while your waiting and it's baffling, no greeting, no apology and zero heart. Now to boot, they're messing up orders. I have zero intent in giving my extensive eating spends to Village anymore. If one felt they cared, I'd never be on Yelp telling the world. read more

Good solid 'burb pizza. Gotta love the throwback 80s decor and the classic bubbled plastic cups. There's something awesome about the crust and the cheese I can't place that just makes this the best pizza in the area. It's just... better. A good friend recommended this place after a session of talking about our favorite pie spots and even showed me a picture of her favorite one so I just had to try it if she has a picture of it on her phone. So I got the Fiery Chicken pizza and it was good, the crust wasn't as crispy as I like but it had that char flavor which to me is awesome. It wasn't particularly spicy but my waitress who was friendly and attenative brought out crushed red pepper and grated parmigian cheese with out even having to ask. OK, so I've never had their pizza in the many years I've been going. That's because I just about ALWAYS get the chicken parmesan. It's my favorite place to get it. When they bring it to the table in the metal pan they cook it in, all you see is nicely browned mozzarella. TONS of cheese covering two thin, breaded chicken cutlets. Their Jo-Jo potatoes (think big-ass fries) are really popular, too. The staff is friendly and it's usually fairly busy but just slow enough that I usually don't have to wait for a table. read more

I've had hit or miss experiences here. I am not a fan of their pizza. They're grinders are ok. Service always seems a little under-staffed, causing servers to seem a little stressed and haggard. I grew up in this area, its not what I remember. I call it a California pizza. I now travel back 'home' once a year, I look forward to having a good pizza I remember as a kid, but not here. 1) Village pizza uses a conveyor oven! Not a high temperature oven. I could go to Costco for this. 2) The bottom is not crispy and the center is not chewy as the style of the area. Again, the limits of using a modern convection like oven. 2) The pizza cooking time is determined by the conveyor speed. We ordered a large, the center slices were not fully cook. If we ordered a small, then it would probably have cooked the center better. 3) They cook the pizza in a pan. Pepperoni is greasy, and when heated the grease runs. Our pan pizza become an overly greasy mess of the dough. 4) They sweaten their dough, you can taste it. 5) I think the dough is stamped and not stretched. It makes a difference. read more

What can I say? I grew up on Village pizza and grinders. Hands down the best eggplant grinder I have ever had. Whenever I am in town, I stop for a cold BBC Steel Rail on tap, an eggplant grinder (on the best grinder bread imaginable) and onion rings. Food and atmosphere are not fancy, but it's the best Greek pizza house food anywhere in these United States!! read more

Oh Village. How I miss you. Everytime I go home I try to snag a pizza from here. They use some kind of combo of cheeses that is SO delish. Fresh toppings and a nieghborhood feel. My brother worked here in high school as a cook, friends worked there, parents of friends owned it. I dont know anyone when i go in there now but the pizza has remained delicious. The pizza was good, but if I knew what I know now, I would have gotten dinner at another shop. The waitress/cashier who served me was carrying a dreary attitude, which made me want to cancel my order before picking it up. I ordered a cheese stick (which I was excited about), and was absolutely disappointed. I have to honestly admit, that this was the first cheese stick in my life, that I did not consume in its entirety.I actually threw most of it away. GiGi's pizza's cheese sticks (right down the road) are actually better, and that is sad to say. The wings were good and the cheesefries were good also. The only reason this shop received a two (2) star rating was because it was priced at the lower end of the market and one of the cooks gave me a free side of ranch. read more

We called a couple weeks out to reserve an area for our large group and indicated we'd be ordering a few family size pizzas. We called the night before to reconfirm and order the specific toppings and they said they were out of family size pizzas. I asked how that was possible and they said they pre-make the crusts. We had no choice but to order larges at this point and deal with less slices without having to spend more money. Regardless, the pizzas tasted weird, and I have to wonder if the whole pizza (crust, sauce, and cheese) is pre-made since it had the appearance and taste of pizza that has been frozen and reheated. In one bite, the entirety of the cheese would start to slide off in a sheet. The cheese was brownish and almost crusty, not light, gooey, and stringy like you would expect and the crust tasted meh. What a great small town friendly feel when you eat here. The staff is young friendly and very well trained. The food is very good with excellent serving sizes and the service was excellent. Best pizza in town. Consistently good food. Has been good for the last 25 years. We go there at least twice a month. Nice antipasto, too.

The owner is awesome and an extremely nice person. This morning I had my vehicle break down and I had to pull in his parking lot to wait on a tow truck. He assisted with trying to get my car running, opened his restaurant to let me sit in there at 700 in the morning so I could do my morning conference calls, offered me coffee, and was just as helpful as anyone I've ever met. I can't say enough great things about him, I've had his food in the past and it's also incredible. I live in Granby, CT so Southwick is a drive for pizza but I'll not go anywhere else from this point forward. Thank you to the owner for his assistance and kindness. read more
