When looking for a place to eat, a friend recommended Emma's. I had been once before - my husband had never been. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous. We visited on a busy Friday night and service and speed was excellent. We had bruschetta, which was excellent He had the ribeye Gorgonzola, which was absolutely fantastic and cooked to perfection. Very flavorful and very large portion. I had ckn parmigiana w penne and the size could of fed my family. The taste was amazing. I took over 3/4 ckn home. We can't wait to return. We visited Emma's for an early dinner. Our party of 4 was greeted warmly and seated immediately. Our server was attentive, took our drink orders and brought warm bread, butter, and dipping oil to our table. The menu had so many great options - we decided to get a pizza, a pasta, and an entree to share between the four of us. For pizza, we ordered Donna's Favorite, and added crispy chicken. We all loved it and I especially loved the crispy prosciutto. Our entree was chicken piccata, and the capers and lemon in the sauce were excellent. We ordered the penne with vodka sauce, and again, the prosciutto was amazing! Portions were great and the three items we ordered were plenty for the four of us, and we even had leftovers for lunch. We visited for an early dinner on a Friday at 5 PM, and the experience was a mixed bag. The three of us--myself, my wife, and my mother-in-law--were seated promptly, which was a nice start. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, making sure we felt welcome throughout our meal. We kicked things off with calamari and bruschetta as appetizers. The calamari was fresh, but it could have used a bit more seasoning to elevate its flavor. As for the bruschetta, it had an unusual sour note that was quite unexpected and not at all what we've experienced before. My mother-in-law opted for the clam chowder, but unfortunately, she found it lacking and described it as terrible. On a brighter note, my wife ordered the chicken Alfredo and absolutely loved it. I chose the spaghetti and meatballs, and I was pleasantly surprised by the rich flavor of the meatballs, which redeemed the meal somewhat. Overall, I have to deduct two stars due to the disappointing appetizers and the clam chowder. While we appreciated the service, I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon. read more

Food is reliably good. They do an amazing family or party takeout .I like the self made menu where you can pick your sauce and protein. I do find it often salty at times. I love carbonara but theirs has so much salty flavor and excessive pepper. I have had it three times and it was inedible. I often order the scallops or shrimp and garlic olive oil or a Marsalas. Their pasta fagioli I want to love, but it has never been more than cambells tomato soup base with pasta and beans and tastes like nothing else. There is no quality italian flavor in this soup. Their drinks are ok. Wine glasses are from the 80s. The bartenders are occasional friendly and occasionally stuffy and they hold seats for people when it only seats about 7, which makes coming in throughout the day irritating when they hold a seat for someone who may show up at 5 or 6. Silverware in place. This is a regular occurrence and cant chase people away faster. They are open lunch through close which is a huge plus. All and all I think they are a falling star the last few times we visited. I think you should be catering at the bar to whose there, not whose not, and salt and pepper should be added at the table. But don't hesitate to run a party through them. Their food for a party is the best around ! read more

Everything tasted pretty average... not sure if it could have been an off night. Friday evening of a holiday weekend and got the last table! How lucky! Fantastic service despite the crowd (and a line behind us). Our server insisted we try the fresh bread and dipping oil -- yum. Shared the eggplant rolatini appetizer, big enough for two! So tasty and fresh, with that home made look, could have used a bit more oregano but we loved it. Shared the Donna Pizza, superb and rtisanal with an interesting combination of veggies -- the spinach on top so flavorful, not overcooked or watery! Sharing meant we were the only diners without a doggie bag, which was fine with us as we live an hour away. So glad we discovered this out of the way place! read more

Wow! Pasta and sauce combinations are plentiful and all delicious. Portions are exceptional so come hungry. Really enjoyed the pasta for two with your choice of side, best value for your money. Service was prompt and attentive throughout. We were visiting our daughter who is attending WSU and wanted to treat her to a nice meal and stumbled across Emma's. The food is always fantastic, with reasonable pricing and generous portions. Emma, the owner herself, is present and hands on, always ensuring a good customer experience. Whatever you could possibly need, the staff is able and willing to accommodate. Robin & Lauren are some of the best bartenders in town, always making sure your cocktails are up to expectation. On 9/24/24, my husband and son went to Emma's for dinner. They were seated by the wait staff, but were subsequently asked by a waitress, who was their own, to move their seats, as she was expecting a couple who always sat at the table they were occupying. This infuriated my son, as his father is handicapped, and has mobility issues. In his father's defense, he did not move. The whole incident was very upsetting to my family, and soured their dining experience. They would have been happier if they had left. Kindness goes a long way. P.S. I would give ZERO stars if that were an option!! BEWARE- I came in here and while waiting to order, I saw the waitress touch the door and then right after, dip her hand in someone's calamari plate! The food is very good, but last night there was a group of 10 of us. We had a reservation for 4:30. We were all seated on time. Before we finished eating, they brought us To-Go containers! Within a couple minutes of getting the To-Go containers, the waitress was there with our checks. I asked the table if anyone wanted coffee or dessert since the waitress never asked! We were clearly being rushed out. Most did order coffee. Overall it was not a pleasant experience being made to feel they wanted us out so they could turn the tables. Seasoned olive oil with hint of red pepper accompanied the real Italian bread. Amazing entree nenu shows their skills- want francese? The waitress gave me a laundry list of options that I thought were sides, I mean who puts green string beans as a base. Well since I like them I ordered the string beans and baby that's all I got the veal and string beans. Emma's Everyday Gourmet is a fabulous little family-style Italian restaurant located a few blocks off of Elm Street along Washington Street in downtown Westfield, MA. The restaurant can be found at one end of a non-descript strip mall, and it doesn't seem to be well-known except by the locals. All that being said, you must give this place a try if you're in the mood for really good Italian food without the corporate chain restaurant hype. Inside the front door you turn left towards the bar area and smaller dining room which is used during lunch. To the right is the larger dining room and group dining areas, which are primarily used in the evenings. My table was located right near a wall map of Italy which had been made from wine corks, and I faced the large bar. I was in a hurry for lunch, and only had time for soup and salad, but have bookmarked this restaurant for one of my return trips to Westfield. Lunch started with a basket of warm, homemade bread, and a small dish of olive oil and herbs for dipping. It was a great way to start the meal. Then came a cup of their homemade Pasta Fagioli, which is the popular Neapolitan bean soup with ham. The soup was very rich and hearty. Next came the Emma's salad, which was baby spinach tossed with balsamic vinaigrette, feta cheese, red onions, Kalamata olives, tomatoes, crispy onions, and grilled Portobello mushrooms drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The full menu shows appetizers, salads (served personal sized or family-style), wings, pizzas, grinders (sub sandwiches), burgers, a host of pasta dishes, and Italian entrées. You can either choose the smaller lunch-sized portions, or a larger dinner size; and they also serve trays for buffet meals. We were from out of town and a gentleman we played golf with who was from the local area recommended Emma's. And what a great recommendation it was! The staff seated us right away and was very friendly. Our waitress was awesome and very attentive to our needs. Our entrees were out of this world. I never had a better lasagna in my lifetime! And my husband raved about his chicken parmesan. The portions were very generous. That being said, I was really impressed with the food at this mom and pop restaurant.
