Village Square Bagel is a staple in this community, serving delicious bagels and sandwiches throughout the Larchmont and Mamaroneck area. My first experience was in the summer of 2005, I purchased a bagel, cream cheese and lox. Through the years I've used Village Square Bagel on several occasions to cater Christmas breakfast for subordinates, ongoing for 16 years. Coming in today was a bit different. Although I was greeted and welcomed, it appeared there was a failure in communication. I had to keep repeating my order. There is a serious language Barrier that hindered the young lady from determining what a question was and a request. I asked what kind of pasta salad she says okay pasta salad for you what else. I ordered an Everything toasted bagel, scallion cream cheese, and lox. It came with a pasta salad and little bitty, eenie weenie side salad. The bagel taste very fresh, the scallion cream cheese tasted like regular creme cheese, and the lox hit a Grand Slam. Whoa! The taste was savory, like melt in your mouth. I wish it was a sandwich that really took long to eat because I could not get enough of that taste. (OMG I'm salivating) I had plenty of omega 3 healthy fats this morning, see the pics. The salads were something to write home about. All of this for $16.46 with an added on coffee for $1 plus a refill, WHAT A BARGAIN! I've seen it all here, the ambiance is casual, but people come as they are, be it works attire early A.M. and Dressed for the commuters into Larchmont. Not many locals come in Dressed attire, they're to busy running for the Metro North train- redline, into Manhattan! Of course there is room for improvements: having a cleaner dining area for those like myself that didn't want to eat and drive. Better yet. Have someone monitor the dining area because it really doesn't make sense for it to be that messy! And I can't say much about who they hire but comprehension and analytical skills need improvement. Lastly, the coffee is in a container so it's not hot, hot. Like THAT hot, it's almost hot. Okay? Belly full, refilled coffee to go. Next stop, get air in my tire and off to Queens. If I were still living in my home state of NJ or living/working in the Larchmont area, I'd find a better place post-haste. Having lived in the northwest corner of CT for the last 10 years, my desperation for bagels has skewed my thoughts on Village Square. Everything was fine. Did no harm. But nothing but my nostalgia made me happy to be there. Bagel had a good mouth feel, but toppings on my everything bagel didn't taste like much and they were sparse. My scallion cream cheese was perhaps packed in the same room as a scallion, but I couldn't find one in the mix and didn't taste like much. Atmosphere was everything I was looking for. Simple deli. Ample coffee. Good folks in and out. Service was fine. Didn't add or detract. If in the area for more than a day, find better. I'm sure they're out there. If visiting like me, it scratched the itch. *for fun I tried some shrimp salad too. Not even any salt or pepper. Everything is fresh and fine. Just really really bland. Ps - huge disappointment that they didn't have Taylor Ham and one counter worker didn't know what it was. read more

They're out of business as of 5/30/2026. :( I would go there on a regular basis in the morning and for lunch. The employees were great, and we knew each other by name. I was very surprised to go there this morning for a cup of coffee, only to find it locked. I looked in the windows; all the cases were empty, and all the pictures were off the walls. I was there the day before for lunch around noon, and nobody mentioned that they were closing. I don't know if the employees knew or not? Or maybe they knew, and were asked not to say anything to the customers? I hope all the employees are ok and had another job lined up. I'm actually going to miss seeing them. I also hope that everything is ok with the owner(s). It's concerning when a business just closes like this, with no sign in the window, or indication that they were closing. read more

I've been going to this bagel shop for the past 20 years and I've always been kind of iffy about them. The Bagels are good nothing to cry home about. The service was amazing. The ambience is kind of disgusting. I would not recommend this Bagel shop and I recommend you don't go to Westchester bagel shops. I would give Village bagels, five stars for their delicious salads, fresh bagels, and friendly service. However, I just went in and bought two small containers of chopped liver, two small containers of whitefish salad, and one small container of shrimp salad and spent $90. There is something very wrong with that. The last time I was there, I added three dozen bagels to the same order and ended up spending $190. What is happening here? I live in the Boston area and always stop at Village Square bagels on my way home from my family in the area. I just don't understand these prices. To make chopped liver at home, it would cost me at the most $3. I understand the convenience of being able to stop and buy it, but I don't understand the pricing. read more

I came in on a Sunday at the recommendation of someone. Customer service was okay. I was helped when I walked in. I had to repeat what I wanted a few times. The food: I got a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. The bagel was fine. However there was literally 1 egg, 1 piece of cheese and about 2 slices of bacon. It was STINGY. I got 3 bagels to go...2 honey oat and a cinnamon raisin. I asked how to store them and was told to keep in the paper bag and then tie in the plastic bag and it should last at least 3-4 days before she recommends freezing. I did as I was told. Had one on Monday and Tuesday morning I went to take a bagel and they were molding. From the one I was able to eat... the honey oat....I was not very impressed. It was a doughy bagel, didn't taste the honey and all the oats were immediately falling off. Lastly I got a small half tub of walnut raisin cream cheese. It was not even half a pound and It cost me almost $6. Even worse than the price was the taste. It tasted almost like it was made was sour cream or Greek yogurt. It was not pleasant and no one in my house would eat it. So I spent almost $15 on a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel, 3 bagels and a tub of cream cheese and nothing was great, barely over good, and most ended up in the trash. read more

The customer service is mediocre- meaning the serving time was medium to slow - from your order to them preparing it - to you paying for it and finally walking away with a stale bagel and lox w/ some chive cream cheese. Now, I get it, lox is not prepared at all places the same and freshness counts, tremendously, when it comes to smoked salted fish. But how can a bagel place serve STALE BAGELS! The bagel came with sides, I ordered the Cole slaw, which was vinegary, and I LOVE vinegar, so this was a very good Cole slaw! It came with a pickle which was salty and delicious. Also I asked for capers on my bagel, guess what ? NO capers. Mamma Mia... So basically all the sides were fresh and delicious, except the freakin BAGEL! I wouldn't return here. Just so slow.... It took FOREVER to make two wraps and to throw in some bagels. My wrap was the Village wrap - grilled chicken with lettuce and avocado. It was very bland, did not have mush going for it. My wife liked her chicken salad wrap though. No complaints about the bagels. You can eat in as well. I also noticed a smattering of imported drinks and snacks plus the usual American snack options. BTW they do not take cards. There is an ATM with fee but plan ahead. read more

Had a great bagel here! Kept it simple with a plain and butter; I was shocked because I thought I had saw a sign that said it was 5.99 for a buttered bagel but my total ended up being 3 dollars and some change. Pro tip: when I checked in, there was an offer for free coffee. So I enjoyed a small hazelnut coffee on the house as well. Not a bad way to start a morning! The ladies behind the counter were very bubbly and friendly. The bagels reminded me of NYC style. Slightly crisp on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. I really should have taken a better look a the reviews before popping in here, but an immediate post TJs late lunch hunger pretty much took over. I saw sandwich, and I was in. I went with a chicken, roasted red pepper, goat cheese, and spinach hot sandwich. It comes with a side, and a pickle. Let's start backwards. The pickle was good. However, for the sides, it was either potato salad (aka mayo soup), cole slaw (aka mayo soup II), or pasta salad. The pasta salad seemed like the lesser of the three evils...but I was wrong. It was old, very soft, and also soupy. Pass. The sandwich...meh. I mean, the bread was good. So was the goat cheese. But when they took the gray looking "maybe chicken" out of the bowl (I honestly did not think that was chicken when I saw it) I got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. They did "grill" it on some sort of panini press but it very super tough and insanely thin. Not that I would have wanted any more, but I would say I got about .15 total lbs of chicken on the sandwich. I was probably better off. I was hungry, I ate it, I did not get sick. But I would steer clear of my order. If you must, aim for cold cuts, and ask for more than three slices. I didn't have a bagel but it seems many other reviewers had pretty poor experiences with them, so take that for what you will. All in all...nah. read more

Overpriced, mediocre/bland, and kinda sweet bagels. Recommended by a coworker, who swears by them. I guess she's never tried bagels outside of Larchmont. And as some other reviews indicated, they apparently don't know what "toasted" means if you ask for it, because you'll receive a lukewarm, barely toasted bagel that almost tastes stale as a result. I'm not hard to please but this place just doesn't do it for me. While their bagels are good and they have many cream cheese choices the place is just subpar. They only accept cash or check which gets annoying. The place is kind of cluttered and outdated. What annoys me most however is their dishonesty. I noticed an extra charge for $.10 for extra cream cheese, though I never asked for extra. The next time I went I paid attention to ensure I didn't ask for extra cream cheese or agree to it and yet I was still charged $.10 per bagel for "extra". While that doesn't amount to much it just feels like a scam. I shouldn't be charged extra for something I didn't ask for. Lastly, I recently witnessed their "customer service" in action. A customer came in while I was in there stating her tea was cold. The woman behind the counter seemed dumbfounded about what to do. She asked the lady if she wanted a new tea all together or to just heat it up. The lady stated it could just be reheated. The lady then asked whether she should add more hot water or just nuke it in the microwave. They seemed to make such a process over a situation that could have easily been resolved. read more

I stopped by here today for a quick bite before heading to Trader Joe's. I was unimpressed with the bagels, I ordered it toasted and I got a bagel that wasn't toasted or hot. I also was not impressed with the coffee either it was average at best. The price was high for what I got. I wanted to like this place but I cannot recommend it. These are some of the best bagels in Westchester. They are the oversized Manhattan style, similar to Ess-A-Bagel. Cut into three pieces for toasting. I think their salads and spreads are pretty decent. We're not talking Russ and Daughters level but something better than supermarket. The same can be said of the smoked fish. Been here a few times now and each time there is an issue with something or another. I came with my family and notified them it was going to be a lot of sandwiches if they wanted to write it down and they refused. Each order had something wrong with it. The bacon egg and cheese had 2 pieces of bacon even after asking for extra multiple times. Was given an attitude after asking them to take bacon off of a bagel with cream cheese. They also didn't have any rolls or croissants on a Sunday morning. I understand not having one thing but when your specialty is breakfast I would expect to at least have the basics. Just get the bagels only and leave. Get your coffee at the amazing coffee house next door, they'll let you eat your bagel there if you order and tip. Leaving a review for me and the person in front of me(who i felt bad for). Price was stupid expensive, walked in expecting a sub 10$ meal, maybe 13 at most. Bagel itself somehow ended up costing 16 and with my snack and water, the final total came to 21. Service was nice from the employees but the manager there seemed pretty stingy and awful. The person in front of me came in requesting more ketchup, and after many snarky comments from the manager, they reluctantly gave the customer another small serving of ketchup. For the outrageous prices this place charges, they could probably buy a whole bottle of ketchup with the money they make off a couple bagels. First of all the positives- the bagels get a 5 star rating. I am very grateful for the hardworking bakers who keep cranking out these delicious fresh bagels. Over the past 15 years I have had several events catered by VSB and the bagels always get rave reviews. They are the ideal combination of chewy crust and flavorful doughy insides will raise your status among family and friends! I have never had a problem with pre ordered bagels or a pre ordered catered tray to pick up. There is a nice area set up with tables and chairs eat in. Now for the negatives. However during the past 15 years service has gone way down hill. A recent example of this is when I went in one morning and the person who waited on me did not know better than to pack the 40 dollars of smoked fish separate from the warm bagels! Worst BLT I've ever had! They put 3 of the thinnest microwaved slices of bacon I've ever seen and charged $6 for it. The only good thing from this sandwich was the bagel. To make things worse, there were 2 people in front on me and it took almost 20 minutes to even order. Ridiculous Stopped in for a bagel with butter was charged $2.78 when I went to pay. Asked are you sure ? Server was insistent that's what we charge Asked what the price of a plain bagel is $1.10 That means you charge $1.78 with tax for butter? Yes I was told. I can afford the extra buck but even so every other place charges $1.50 or 1.60 + tax. I wonder how much they over charge for other items? I won't bother to find out many other more reasonably places to go read more
