Debbie was are waitress. she was very friendly . I had the batter dipped fish it was great. my wife had the patty melt. and that was great too. the place was very clean and also the price was great. Not a lot of choices to eat out for dinner here in Sherman's Dale but we decided to try out this local diner. It's your basic diner layout with both booths and tables. Our waiter was prompt and friendly. We got our drinks and ordered our food. Everything was prepared well, the broccoli cheese soup was amazing. I'm not a huge fan of mustard but got the salmon with a mustard based sauce and it was smothered in it. Just too much sauce but my husband loved it. I scraped off most of my sauce and tried to eat it but ended up having leftovers. The tater tots were good and deep fried and the salad lettuce looked a little old but it didn't have a bitter flavor yet so that was fine. I would prefer more vegetable options for dinner. Overall we enjoyed the food. The diner could use a sprucing up of the general aesthetic and we were too full to try any desert but they had a fridge full of pie, cake, etc. read more

I ordered ham loaf with pineapple, it came out with some orange looking pineapple on top and the taste was abysmal. Then instead of comping my whole meal they changed me 4.50 for a side salad that was included in the meal. Not impressed. First and last time. read more

Service varies by whoever waits on us. And believe me, it varies greatly! Best choices for us have been the chicken pot pie (no crust, though), gyro sandwich, and eggplant parmigiana. Soup of the day choices are good but do run out. Our favorite is the Italian wedding soup. Portions are reasonable. Atmosphere is typical for a diner. Restrooms are always clean, a nice plus. I was terribly excited about the Diner but sorely disappointed after starting/finishing my food. I decided to go all out, get the $8 breakfast instead of the $3 option. It was mostly cold and bland. Somehow everything (eggs, bacon, toast, etc) tasted the same. Perhaps it was all summoned into being without much care for flavor, who knows. And the coffee. Oh. my. the coffee. My wife and I drive over 30 miles at least once a month to eat at VILLAGE SQUARE DINER. it is a clean family restaurant, with outstanding servers and the prime rib is delicious . First thing I noticed when I walked in the door was the place had a weird musty smell. Prices were decent and they had plenty to pick from on their breakfast menu. I ordered cream chipped beef over wheat toast with hash browns on the side. My hashbrowns had a wonderful crisp to them but they were very bland, added salt, pepper and a dash of Tabasco...crisis averted there. On to the creamed chipped beef. The wheat toast tasted stale. The white "creamy" gravy was super thick and pasty...ewe. there was a sad amount of actual chipped beef and there was barely any flavor. It honest tasted like flour more than anything else. The waitress I have was friendly and attentive. My daughter had a standard breakfast of eggs, potatoes, toast and a side of sausage. She only made a slight comment about the sausage being "crunchy" but it didn't seem to stop her from eating it. I don't live very far from this place so most likely I will return to try something else and hopefully give the restaurant a better review. read more

I have eaten here many times due to lack of choices in the community. The food is average at best. Ordered the crabmeat stuffed chicken and found the canned cheese "gravy" to be disgusting. The diner features a rotating weekly menu of soups and specials. I seriously doubt any of the daily soups are "home made". The breakfasts are good if you don't go for a large breakfast, otherwise it will be cold. The creamed dried beef is pre-packaged and most foods are microwaved. Service can be over friendly but there are a couple shining stars. I can not stand it when a waitress refers to me as "honey or sweetie" or "what will you guys have?" Burgers are made to order. The menu is so vast that I can't see how the cooks can actually keep up with it and have to resort to pre-packaged and microwaves. Sure I will eat here again but only because of lack of choices. read more

The wife & I stopped in for breakfast. I order the Village Square special which included two pancakes, two eggs (I had over easy), 3 small sausage patties & home fries. My wife order the SOS. I thought my breakfast was good. The pancakes were ok but I'll pass next time. I was impressed with the eggs. Some places can't cook over easy at all but this diner made them perfect. Home fries and sausage were good. The wife said SOS was really good, better than other places we have tried. We will definetly return for breakfast at The Village Square Diner. read more

Menu includes a lot of variety. Several vegetarian choices (which is not always easy in Perry Co.) I've had veggie burgers, eggplant parm, grilled cheese and have eaten breakfast there many times. In all honesty if I was to rate purely the food it would be a 5. The food was delicious and came out very quick. However, the service was terrible. I'm a waitress so I tend to be very forgiving on bad service but not tonight. I did not even want to tip. We were the only people in the restaurant ( my dad, my son, and I) it took 10 minutes to get menus. And then our waitress never brought us our coffee. She also never brought our appetizers. Which is all fine, I can get over that. But my dad and I were talking about how the service kind of sucked and both of the waitresses there started talking crap about us! WHERE I COULD HEAR. Calling us cheap, loud, and ungrateful. The one waitress told our waitress she should have spit in our food! We did nothing to give the waitress a bad time. All of this I could get over. But our waitress had the audacity to curse in front of my two year old! This is definitely not a family place. And the waitresses I met tonight we're very rude people. I will definitely not be back. I was super excited to finally eat here after driving by it all the time. When I first walked in, the front entrance reeked of cleaning products, kudos for cleaning but the smell was horribly strong and not appetizing. I sat down and the waitress came to our table and asked for our order within two minutes of sitting down, since I've never been there before, I asked for more time to look at the menu. About anther two minutes later, she's standing right next to me with pen and pad in hand ready to take our order. So I just ordered my go-to food order when I don't know what else to get, chicken fingers and fries. The food came out pretty quick but was nothing special. I was very disappointed with the food and the service, I felt rushed, perhaps it was the end of the shift for the waitress but I found the service very unprofessional and it kind of made me uncomfortable, so my search for a good diner in the area continues! read more
