This was an amazing last minute stop! Our party of 9 dropped in without reservations and were warmly greeted and able to sit inside. We each ordered a flight ($20 for 5 generous pours). They let you pick between a white, classic or red flight. I chose red and was impressed by all of them. There were also small bites and charcuterie available. The charcuterie board ($28) came with 3 meats, 3 cheeses, grapes, marcona almonds, apples, jam and 2 mustards. The only cheese we didn't care for was the goat cheese. Their "holey-moley" cheese was awesome! We also got truffle chips with onion dip ($9 for a large portion, delicious and crispy and the truffle wasn't too overpowering), pomme frites ($8, good portion with a delicious lemon aioli dipping sauce). The best part of our visit was our server Micah! He was super engaging, funny, informative and made our day! He even handled it really well when another server (Allan) awkwardly (and somewhat rudely) interrupted him and told Micah that he needed the bottle that he was pouring us. If I could do a negative star review I would. Ernie was so disrespectful and rude. He promised space for us if we came back an hour later. When we returned he ignored us and blamed the low staff. Don't make promises you can't keep. When we asked how we can cancel our membership he merely said "it's canceled" and was rude. We planned our day around this reservation. Overall Review: 4.5 out of 5 Rating based on a wine blending class and quick wine tasting. We had 2 tickets to their annual wine blending class/competition. The first 15 minutes was a general lecture to get an overview of wines and various categories of how to rate (taste) the wines. Then we were broken into teams and given several wines and basic equipment to create our own unique blend. After about an hour and a half, we submitted our blends to the Vina Robles sommeliers and sat down for a lovely lunch of grilled chicken, pastas, veggies, and salad. A raspberry sorbet was served as dessert. The sommeliers returned after we finished our lunch and announced the winning team. The winning team got to take home a bottle of their blend home. Everyone in the competition got to take home a very nice apron which was a pleasant surprise. After the class, my husband and I tasted a few wines they offered in the main lobby area. We took a bottle home for ourselves and for our friend who was notified us of the event. Pros: the winery was very classic & modern yet comfortable. The exterior and interior of the winery were beautifully decorated & thankfully air conditioned as it was a very warm day. There is an amphitheatre near by and you can hear a band practicing which is very nice. The aprons we were gifted were very high quality and we still use them at home. The lunch provided was very tasty and complimented the blending wines nicely. Cons: for about $70 per person, we were disappointed we didn't keep the blend we made, even if we didn't win. The main wine tasting area is small and can feel a bit crowded on a busy Saturday. I wish the tasting area had more seating and a longer bar area. A must-taste winery on a Paso Robles trip! Vina Robles featured the most consistently unique wine tasting out of the 60+ different wines I tried during my visit to the central coast. Ceili gave my family and I a wonderful adventure of flavors including the Terra Bella single vineyard Syrah that was so good we had to take one home. We also tried the bright and flavorful petit verdot, symphony on the nose from the Petit Sirah 2015, the crisp and fruity Albariño 2018, the well-balanced Syrée 2015 (Horray for Syrée!), the very different and unique 2010 and 2013 library Reserve cab, Signature 2015, tannin delight Tannat 2013, and the very smooth 2016 Zinfandel. A stand up winery that consistently offers a nice assortment of wines that are good quality and affordable. We joined the wine club (which only requires purchase of 3 shipments of 6 bottles) so we have access to the club tasting room which is a quieter environment where you can sit down on comfy chairs and a server will come to you. They also offer the pairing menus from the kitchen- I highly recommend the chocolate truffle pairing- (it's with Chuao Chocolates!) As one of the larger wineries in Paso Robles, everything is on a larger scale, including the concerts and events. Showed up to Vina Robles one recent Sunday afternoon with two friends and my dog. Both Apple maps and Yelp say that dogs are allowed. The host, Ernie was the reason I'm giving two stars instead of zero. While I understand dogs may not be allowed inside some places, what baffles me is that they wouldn't even allow us to sit outside and buy a bottle or beer and food. Flat out no. Suspiciously, I saw another couple arriving at the same time we did, and THEY HAD DOGS! I watched them casually walk inside no problem. Ernie tried to help us get some kind of table but the management would not budge, except to say we could get a bottle and sit at some picnic table over 200 feet away in the parking lot. After reading other reviews saying the wine was just ok, I'm glad we didn't get in. We went to Castoro instead and had a magnificent time! Each person in my group bought two bottles and I bought a membership. Castoro's wine is delectable. Their service is way above and beyond. Skip the outlet wineries on the east side and go to a proper winery in the west hills. read more

Our server was so thoughtful in allowing the party to pick their choice...half of us chose the reserved taste testing. Wine tasting is waved with the purchase of a bottle. Really great deal! Service was wonderful! I wish I could remember who took care of us. We also did order a few small plates such as hummus and the chorizo on sourdough baguette. I have been a wine member here for almost 2 years. I like the pre-access to concert tickets at the amphitheater, club member private access during concerts, wine discounts, 5 friend free tastings, and the fact that they offer a food menu (only wed-sun). I have only gone to a few wine "pick up parties" which before the last one I went to, fell extremely short of a party and something fun. But this last pick up party they had was great (even though I am partial to 80s music). I have added a photo of the food tasting and wine pairing. The food was fantastic. There were lines (maybe 5 people deep) waiting for the food that came fresh out of the kitchen. I would rather have fresh food direct from the kitchen than food that is sitting and waiting. Cheers to the chef for handling the demand and the 100 degree outdoor temp and still putting out great food. Paso is beautiful and this event was great, I just wish Mother Nature would have provided cooler temps. There were swamp cooler set up but shade was the prime real estate this day. This is a great winery to be a part of. I have experienced hiccups in the past but this winery will go above and beyond to resolve the issue. There was a point of miscommunication about reservations being needed when I had a group of 6 doing a tasting with lunch on an event day. The manager made sure to accommodate despite a long wait. Even though we came hungry for lunch and a good tasting, we were well taken care of. I'm sorry I can't remember the managers name but this was early 2019 and the same date of the chocolate jubilee. He was great in making sure our hiccup went smoothly. I know this can be stressful for the chef as well, but hiccups happen and it's important that you press forward and shine rather than complain and not accommodate. Thank you for accommodating this hiccup. This is a great winery and all my friends have thoroughly enjoyed the venue (it is a beautiful place) and the wines. I didn't like any of their wines, unfortunately. They have such a huge estate and it's beautiful. Plenty of room for parties events and cute little spots anywhere you want to sit inside or outside. Inside they had live music and a fireplace which was really nice. There's also a large amphitheater they hold concerts at outside next to the main building. Just about every winery you run into will have their own gimmick/something to attract you(free tasting, waived tasting with a purchase, free tour, wine caves, amphitheater, B&B etc) but all of them won't have good wine, sorry to say. I'd probably only come back here for the concerts they have. read more

My 74 year old mother in law and I stopped in here on or way back to San Diego, and we had a fabulous time! Many of the other wineries in the Area close at 5pm, but this one stayed open until 6pm. Jackpot! Yes, we were coming thru kind of late. We both tried the estate tasting. I had a special request to also sample the brut, and we were accommodated. The Brut was so good, that I brought home a bottle and a chocolate bar for $32 altogether and the tasting fee was waived since we took home bottles. The grounds are beautiful and the sights and views spectacular! They even had a water fountain out front. The decor ois upscale rustic with stone work everywhere. Complementary tasting. Love that, especially when the wines, service, and place is so great! I especially enjoyed the Red 4, and the sparkling wine cosmo that the server made. Super yummy! He was also very nice, explained the wines, and made our group laugh. It's kind of like a bar with good bartenders, it's not required, but when you have a good server taking the time to explain the wine and talk to you they stand out amongst the hundreds of others there to choose from! I also think it makes a difference in the taste of the wine, since wine can change so often, even based on your "mood" that you're in, it's always nice to start off surrounded by a beautiful atmosphere, and friendly service. The bathroom sinks are also super cool! I love the way the water streams out so smoothly. It sounds stupid, but you'll understand when you see it. And even though I don't bring my children when we go wine tasting, you do see many others that do bring their kids to go tasting. I would suggest this winery because the server said he gives them this yummy, yummy grape juice. He mixed it for us with the juice and the sparkling wine and it was delicious! read more

I've visited this particular winery in the past once or twice before and have enjoyed wine tasting but never had the opportunity to try their food. We were finally seated after the staff figured out the confusion and decided where to seat us. The menu is limited to 4-5 items and priced high about the same and mostly are sandwiches or salads. We ordered as soon they figured out who is going to serve us. Our server took our order for food and wine and brought us a basket of bread. After that we had to wait about an hour and 15 minutes to actually get our food perhaps even longer. The kitchen is so far from the dining room that the poor servers have to run back a forth like they're in a marathon. Even after a long wait the food was bad, my steak sandwich had a fishy taste to it and everything smelled weird. Same goes for the chicken Panini. The Shrimp salad was a joke, it had old spring mix in there with two pieces of cold smelly shrimps. As for our wine order, that took forever too, if it wasn't for this other hostess we would not have been served wine. The dining room is open and airy but barely has view of the outside, you're probably better off sitting outside if it is a nice day, it may make your wait a little more pleasant. I don't think we'll be coming back here anytime soon for lunch, there are much better choices out there. read more

How do you get sixty friends to all go wine tasting? Honestly, I don't really know, but we somehow managed to do so this past weekend. Vina Robles was our second stop. Our ID's were checked and we went into the private room where 30 of us sat at each of the long tables. The Estate tasting included five wines for $7. We are members here and go to the VIP room for tastings around twice monthly. We try to always take friends so that they can get a taste of these amazing wines. I'm a red wine drinker, but I'm am told and convinced that their white wines are amazing as well. I don't want to sound elitist, but membership has its advantages. I am not a lover of tourists and don't try to make excuses for that, whilst understanding that I am a tourist at times. The VIP room offers a place to get away from the main tasting room where the amateurs go to drink wine like it's shots. It's roomy and plush, with big couches and chairs and the ability to enjoy fine wine as an oenophile and not around people chugging the pour and saying, "why's it warm huh eh?".... Note that their tasting room is located at 3700 Mill Road, not the Pleasant Road address which is where their vineyard and administrative building are. We plugged the Pleasant Road address into our GPS and drove for 15 minutes from Hwy 46 up Airport Blvd past the youth correctional facility to the end of Pleasant Road not seeing the winery, so we called them to find out that we had to drive back to Hwy 46 to get to their tasting room/hospitality center on Mill Road. The tasting room itself is quite nice and is decorated with a lot of art. They have a cozy lounge area with giant windows that look out to the courtyard. They provide complimentary tastings and specialize in dry wines. Our pourer was helpful and suggested other wineries such as EOS for us to check out for sweet wines. read more

Here for their Swiss Days during the Harvest Festival weekend. For $45, you get grape stomping with a t shirt of your feet imprint, a variety of Swiss food, and all the wine of 6 varietals you can drink. There was an accordion player and live music. We got to go out and pick grapes from the vine which is used for the stomping. Their wine is good but after so many, you can't tell the difference anymore. Overall, an excellent experience. What a cool winery in Paso Robles. Another winery recommended that we stop in here and glad we did. It's really nice and elegant inside. The staff is super sweet and very helpful. Now this is what I call wine tasting. On the exterior, Vina Robles looks like some modern house for showcases, but don't let their contemporary style fool you! There's a lot waiting inside for ya. We followed the signs leading us to the tasting room inside and we seemed to be in their gift shop. The kind lady at the desk greeted us and walked us to the tasting bar where we were presented with menus, tasting options, and a beautiful view of their tall and bright windows and high ceilings. Their AC is cool without being too chilly, and there are breadsticks and water upon request. First off, cheers to lovely lovely winetender by the name of Jarrod who completely impressed and spoiled my Dad and me. If you're looking for an extraordinary tasting experience with an attractive guy who can provide easy-flowing conversation, Jarrod's your man! Tasting is basically free with the purchase of a bottle, and being in the industry, we were able to taste a variety of their robust reds and clean, crisp, chardonnays. We tasted some Estate wines like the Red4 and White4 (blends of four types of reds/whites) which weren't my favorite, but at affordable prices. I was a big fan of their 2013 special release Zin...totally fabulous and completely fit my palette. By the way, for those of you wino's judging me, I'll say that I'm a pinot/zin/malbec drinker, not so much a cab/petite's Paso drinker (big surprise, I'm from the Bay). The Albarino and Viognier were both more refreshing and crisp, which suited my fancy especially since most are sickeningly sweet. I also had to get my hands on their 2012 Fore Petite Syrah, I KNOW. Yup, Jarrod completely changed my perspective on Petite Syrahs...I'm still not at complete open arms with that varietal, but I bought a bottle after deciding how delicious it was! All around us there were couples, families, and even a bachelorette party tasting. We were so glad to hear that they had live music (very acoustic and soft) on Saturdays ONLY. So cheers to you VR for accentuating my experience. The restrooms are clean and have plenty of stalls (ladies, you know that's a biggie). So come on a Saturday. Enjoy the music and open space. While not exactly a hidden gem, Vina Robles is a gem nonetheless. Beautiful grounds, beautiful tasting room, and beautiful wine. They had live music on their patio, nice lunch menu, and offer cheese and chocolate wine pairings! While I have found the staff at most wineries friendly and helpful, the team at Vina Robles goes the extra mile. I could see the other guests were experiencing the same level of service. Kathleen, the Tasting Room Manager, provided a friendly and knowledgeable experience and introduced me to an array of wines from Vina Robles. I have found a local distributor, and have already added some of their wines to my cellar. On the recommendation of a friend, I visited the winery for their food and wine pairing. This is more along the lines of the fancier, more corporate, more touristy winery. We prefer a more laid-back style. That said, they have some very nice wines to try here and we ended up applying our tasting fee (which was a reasonable $7) to a great bottle of blended white wine. read more
