In the mood for a FRESH salad, made with lettuce that doesn't come chopped in a large bag and that has been sprayed with chemicals? Then Vinaigrette Salad Kitchen is your answer! I was so pleased to find this wonderful salad kitchen so close to my home. The Shelbyville Rd area (near 265) is overrun with fast food and bar/barfood options; there are few healthy, delicious options. So yes, I was thrilled to find Vinaigrette. There are suggested salad offerings (e.g., Bluegrass Blackberry, Harvest Kale) or, one can build their own. I have some dietary restrictions and the staff were very kind and accommodating, even making helpful suggestions as I went down the line to have my toppings added. I opted for the BLT deluxe and it was beyond delicious. The bourbon smoked paprika dressing was definitely a hit! In addition to salads there are also some really appetizing grain bowl and soup options. I'm going to have to be a frequent flyer to try several of them! As if they delicious salad wasn't enough, they had several tea options, including my favorite, unsweetened hibiscus! My husband was in awe with his orange/ginger lemonade. This is such a cool concept! I love that it's all salads. I am horrible with choosing healthy options when presented with fattening foods, but at Vinaigrette it's hard to make bad choices! Everything is made fresh in front of you and you have control of leaving out vegetables you don't care for. Only complaint is that it was crowded and because of that, noisy. I hate to be this person because I know things can happen...but this took the cake for me being that I've never experienced this before. I love Vinaigrette which is why it hurts me to make this review. I went today to get my usual salad, GREAT customer service. I drove about 35 minutes home to eat and I barely got midway into my salad and found a nice size dead fly. I was immediately disgusted. Threw my entire salad away and I called. I got the manager who didn't seem that bothered by my complaint. He told me to come back tomorrow to get a free salad. At this point I will not be returning back to this location so I don't want anything other than my money back. I advised him I'd rather have my money back so he then seemed short with me asked for my name and that was it. No apology (that I could hear) or any sincere concern of the establishment he's running. My salad was fresh & really good. That much is certain. The prices were high in my opinion. I paid around $16 for a salad & thats counting the added chicken. Do I think it's sit down restaurant quality? Maybe.. I think I would have to go again for a different salad to really be able to tell you. The chicken I added was a nice touch but too salty. My friend Lukas was talking about this place at work so after leaving the bookstore I thought I would give it a try. Walking in you're presenting with an esthetically appealing atmosphere. The menu is clearly visible behind the counter and I appreciate the simplicity of it all. They have salads showcasing lpcal ingredients, grain bowls, soups, specialty lemonades along with other refreshments. I chose the Pharoah Bowl. Man it was fresh and delicious. Farro, cucumbers, chickpeas, tomatoes, romaine and olives mixed together. You can add a protein for an additional charge. I chose chicken and let me say I ATE EVERY BITE!! I got a cup of tomato soup to go. I did eat it once I got home (Shopping at Kirkland's zonked me lol) and it is smack your mama good! We used to stop in here for lunch frequently when we lived nearby, but since moving we aren't able to go as much. I ended up stopping in today to get carry out salads, and boy did they not disappoint. I must have got there at the right time to beat the lunch crowd because folks were starting to pile in on my way out. This is a popular lunch spot off Hurstbourne that serves salad made to order, soup and grain bowls. They also offer seasonal lemonade, tea and Coke products. The menu offers 8-10 salad combinations but you can also do "choose your own" with any 3 toppings. Most of the salads don't come with a protein but it's offered at an up charge. I ordered the Bluegrass Blackberry salad, named primarily for its blackberry vinaigrette dressing because the fruit used is strawberries. I opted not to get the red onion and was offered another topping of choice. I added edamame but next time will add more strawberries. They also gave me a side of honey balsamic dressing. It's also very good but much thicker and stronger -- don't dump it on! My only reason to deduct a star ... it's expensive. Yum!! My first time here. The menu is full of great options. I had the Santorini. I love this place! My go-to spot for lunch! I have been to all their Louisville and Lexington locations now and they are all great! My favorite item on the menu is the maki shrimp salad. Louisville is notably short on salad bars (whether the build-your-own or choose-to-order kind), and it's a little odd to find the best one in town on the corner of Shelbyville and Hurstborne. They seem to be doing alright, though, which is a pleasant surprise. The half superfood salad with a cup of white chili is one of my fave sub-$10 lunches in Lou. The ingredients are fresh, the dressing light and tasty (tip: get it on the side), the chili is rich, and the bread is soft. I always strive to find fresh, healthy options, and now I can say that I'm very thankful that Vinaigrette Salad Kitchen isn't too far away! Now that I think of it, there really aren't many salad-specialized restaurants in Louisville anymore, so it was nice getting to check this one out. You can order online with them as well, and they'll have your food laid out ready for you by the time you come in. They have some pretty cool, unique salads. I will say that some are surprisingly high in calories - When I get a salad, it's not because I'm craving it but because I am wanting a healthy option. So a salad with 700 calories in it is almost deceiving... Thankfully though if you go through their nutrition facts, they have some in the 400-500 range. I tried out the Acapulco Caesar salad and really enjoyed it! It came with a chipotle lime-kinda sauce, so it was almost like a spicy version of the famous salad. They have tons of add ons if you want them, or you can even make your salad into a wrap. They also have soups, so you can go half and half. I had been wanting to try this out since it opened. I finally made it not too long ago. I've heard some say it is too expensive, but think it's a great deal for the size and quality of the salads. I've paid more for basic iceberg lettuce salads at other restaurants. The staff were all friendly and everything looked clean. The salads are made to order, so you can add or remove ingredients different from what is on the menu. Only a few black beans survived my lunch that day. It was absolutely delicious - especially the dressing! The portion size was very generous, and the salad was served with a slice of bread as well. Prices are way too much for a shrimp salad. The large size bowls are really large but to only get 5 pieces of small shrimp made it so not worth it and to pay $3 more for 3 pieces more... no thanks! The food was surprisingly really delicious. I got the Harvest Kale Salad through DoorDash. I'm traditionally not a kale person because it has to be cooked well, in my opinion, to taste good. But my Harvest Kale Salad was amazing. Unfortunately, I have no pictures because after one bite, I couldn't stop until I finished it. Also, they listened to my additional comments and gave the salad just like I asked. I do have a picture of the Herb Chicken and Wild Rice (it is okay but it's cool, the salad makes up for it). The rice is pretty hard to bite down but that just might be how they serve it. I would suggest getting the chili if you like a softer rice. The salads and grain bowls are pretty good. The reason I'm only giving 3 stars is it's too expensive. The salads do not come with meat, and chicken has a $4 upcharge. My grain bowl (which was pretty small) with chicken and a drink was $20. I feel that's way too high for just a salad and drink at lunch. If I want to splurge on a healthy meal, maybe I would come back. The interior was nice and clean though. Also I do wish the menu showed the calorie content. read more

When I lived in Lexington, this one of my favorite lunch spots. I was so excited when Louisville finally opened one. I missed my go-to salad! I never crave salad, but every time I have one here, I want another! My favorites are the Bluegrass Blackberry, the Chicken Taco, and the BLT (add mozzarella). The bourbon smoked paprika ranch that comes on the BLT salad is the best dressing! The lemonade is pricier than your average cup of lemonade, but you can tell it's homemade and so worth it. The only soup offering I'm really into is the creamy tomato, which is delicious. My only criticism of Vinaigrette is that I wish there were more soup options. I'd love a good french onion or chicken noodle with a salad. Soup selection aside, I have never had a bad meal at Vinaigrette.
