I hate to be this person because I know things can happen...but this took the cake for me being that I've never experienced this before. I love Vinaigrette which is why it hurts me to make this review. I went today to get my usual salad, GREAT customer service. I drove about 35 minutes home to eat and I barely got midway into my salad and found a nice size dead fly. I was immediately disgusted. Threw my entire salad away and I called. I got the manager who didn't seem that bothered by my complaint. He told me to come back tomorrow to get a free salad. At this point I will not be returning back to this location so I don't want anything other than my money back. I advised him I'd rather have my money back so he then seemed short with me asked for my name and that was it. No apology (that I could hear) or any sincere concern of the establishment he's running. Oh I did send him a picture as well that he requested and no follow up text.

This place is awesome!! It's like subway for salads. They have so many options for a build your own salad. My favorite was the bluegrass blackberry salad. The apple chips were the best part. I wish they had goat cheese as an option though. I'll definitely be coming back!!

My friend Lukas was talking about this place at work so after leaving the bookstore I thought I would give it a try. Walking in you're presenting with an esthetically appealing atmosphere. The menu is clearly visible behind the counter and I appreciate the simplicity of it all. They have salads showcasing lpcal ingredients, grain bowls, soups, specialty lemonades along with other refreshments. I chose the Pharoah Bowl. Man it was fresh and delicious. Farro, cucumbers, chickpeas, tomatoes, romaine and olives mixed together. You can add a protein for an additional charge. I chose chicken and let me say I ATE EVERY BITE!! I got a cup of tomato soup to go. I did eat it once I got home (Shopping at Kirkland's zonked me lol) and it is smack your mama good! I will most definitely go back because the blackberry salad caught my eye. Staff was very welcoming!!! Glad to have a cool place like this in Louisville.

This is a popular lunch spot off Hurstbourne that serves salad made to order, soup and grain bowls. They also offer seasonal lemonade, tea and Coke products. The menu offers 8-10 salad combinations but you can also do "choose your own" with any 3 toppings. Most of the salads don't come with a protein but it's offered at an up charge. I ordered the Bluegrass Blackberry salad, named primarily for its blackberry vinaigrette dressing because the fruit used is strawberries. I opted not to get the red onion and was offered another topping of choice. I added edamame but next time will add more strawberries. They also gave me a side of honey balsamic dressing. It's also very good but much thicker and stronger -- don't dump it on! My only reason to deduct a star ... it's expensive. A basic salad bowl is $8 but protein toppings are another $2-3, then add a drink, etc. If my family of 4 are here the bill would be $50-60! For salad! But I'll be back ... by my

I hate to say my first time here will probably be my last one also . I wanted it to be a better choice . The staff was ok I don't know about you but I always hope for better than ok. Unlabeled drink despisers added to the experience. Needing to ask what flavor is in each one . The salad I chose was the Maki shrimp with a cup of potato soup. I was disappointed that a Wendy's salad was so much better in presentation than a restaurant that specializes in salads. Nothing gave me a desire to return.

Yum!! My first time here. The menu is full of great options. I had the Santorini. It's a Greek salad with chopped romaine lettuce, sliced red onion, feta cheese, chickpeas, quinoa, cucumber and pita chips with a lemon juice and olive oil dressing. I had them leave out the red pepper and grape tomatoes. The young lady who made it listened to my concern about cross contamination from shrimp the serve and went out of her way to make mine cleanly and safely. Much appreciated! This salad was light and delicious but satisfying. Salad and a fountain drink for about $12. Definitely coming back!

Partly eaten superfood salad with white chili ($9)

Louisville is notably short on salad bars (whether the build-your-own or choose-to-order kind), and it's a little odd to find the best one in town on the corner of Shelbyville and Hurstborne. They seem to be doing alright, though, which is a pleasant surprise. The half superfood salad with a cup of white chili is one of my fave sub-$10 lunches in Lou. The ingredients are fresh, the dressing light and tasty (tip: get it on the side), the chili is rich, and the bread is soft. The chili could stand to be a little less salty - but this is KY, and it could be worse.

Our Servers tonight were Sophia, Elsie, Haylie, and Logan. They worked very well together. You could build your own salads, it comes with 2 Greens, 4 Fruits & Veggies, 1 Dressing, 1 Crunch. There are 19 different Salads, 19 wraps, 19 grain bowls, on their menu! One person would put the lettuces into the salad bowl and adds the protein (Chicken, Salmon, Shrimp, and Chicken Salad, and Smoked Pimento) The next step was to add more to the salad. The bowls were filled with so many items. Strawberries, cranberries, potato sticks, cheese, sunflower seeds, grapes, just about anything! They topped the salads with dressing or you could just get the dressing on the side. They had lots of sodas, juices, waters, and fountain drinks. The restaurant was really clean and they have children's meals. Grilled Cheese with apple slices. Kids Plates and Kids Bowls. The staff stayed busy the whole time we were in there, but the lines flowed quickly. The restaurant was low volume. It was really relaxing. Robyn

The colorful, fun signage actually made me feel more at ease, especially since "build-your-own" spots can feel a little overwhelming at first. I appreciated that they also had pre-made menu options for those of us who don't want to think too hard. I went with the Chicken Chipotle + Tortilla broth, and my boyfriend ordered a steak bowl, both were fresh, flavorful, and honestly hit the spot. Service: Smooth and welcoming Food: Fresh, healthy, and well-seasoned Environment: Clean, bright, and easy to navigate Now, the total came to $34.81, which is a bit on the pricier side, but in today's economy, that's becoming the norm. And for where I am in my health journey, being intentional about what I put into my body matters more than anything. For me, it was worth it. The Verdict: Worth it for a fresh, healthy option, especially when you want something quick but still aligned with your goals. If you're in the Louisville area, I'd definitely recommend checking out this spot, it's the only one here, and it delivers.

We were all really looking forward to this night. Our server was Deanna B. and she was a very hard worker! When we got to the table she was already pouring ice waters and taking beverage orders. The tables were filling up. We had so many people that that they had to seat 4 of us in the section right below the upper level. It worked out perfectly because two of us use canes and this way, we didn't have to climb the steps. The General Manager, Tom Legge, came over to our table and introduced himself to us. He brought us ice water and took our beverage orders. He went over some of the menu items with us. I had looked at the menu ahead of time and decided that the Hot Brown was exactly what I wanted. My husband loves Hot Browns but he also loves Pizza so he ordered a 10" Hot Brown Pizza for his dinner. A friend at the table with me ordered a Hot Brown also and her husband ordered Linguine and it came with 5 huge meatballs. Tom went ahead and turned in our orders so that we would be able to get our food a bit earlier. Meanwhile, Deanna was taking orders at the upper tables. She did an excellent job. She took 21 orders and got those turned in to the kitchen. Most of their orders were Shrimp & Grits, Chicken Carbonara, and Crab Cakes. Quite a few more ordered the Hot Brown. It didn't take much time before the GM brought out our entrees. Our Hot Browns were beautiful! A Louisville classic! There were layers of roasted turkey, laid upon on a slice of Brussétta bread, topped with smoked bacon, and tomatoes and covered with mornay sauce. Oh my! It was delicious. My husband's 10" Hot Brown Pizza was beautiful and was made on Pizza crust. It was really good, but after my husband tasted my Hot Brown, he decided that he liked the Hot Brown a bit better. Our other friend that was at the table with us ordered the Linguine and it came with 5 meatballs- in fact they were huge meatballs. It was served with Marinara sauce. He really thought it was good, but could only eat about 3/4 of it, so he took the remainder of his meal home with him. GM Tom talked the four of us into sharing the Bread Pudding that was topped with a Caramel Glaze. It was a perfect size for the four of us to top off our meal. We had a great time and I was very glad to find a restaurant with a 5 Hot Brown! Robyn

I started with just one of the three excellent Boudin Balls and saved the other two for later. When the sampler arrived, it smelled incredible. I enjoyed everything, but if I had to rank them, the Étouffée was definitely my favorite, followed by the Jambalaya, Gumbo, and then Red Beans and Rice. And just to be clear, everything was good! That's simply my personal ranking. I also have to mention the excellent piece of alligator sausage that came with the Red Beans and Rice. That was a nice bonus. I rounded out the meal with a cold glass of red ale...or maybe two. And I can't forget to mention the bartenders. All three provided excellent service and helped make the evening a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I filled up my to go box and headed out the door satisfied. I definitely won't wait so long before returning to Lou Lou!

The prices are moderate and felt very reasonable for the atmosphere, portions, and overall experience. I ordered the biscuit and gravy with a side of bacon, and let me just say... these were NOT your average biscuits! I got two huge, fluffy biscuits with little cubes of sausage tucked in between them and everything was covered in pepper gravy. The biscuits were soft and delicious, the sausage added just the right amount of flavor, and the pepper gravy pulled it all together. So good! My husband decided to go big and ordered the breakfast plate with all the fixings PLUS a waffle. Naturally, I had to sample the waffle, and I'm pretty sure I made my decision for my next visit right then and there. That waffle was delicious!
