During cold winter days, we tend to steer towards soupy things. So my IG pho feature today is Vinason Pho & Grill! For a tiny shack with 8 seats, Vinason packs tons of smoky tender brisket, with delicious hot steaming pho broth, with clean rice noodles! It definitely hits the spot. Their brisket flavor and texture is one of my favorite I've had in pho! They are a bit pricey $10 for a small bowl, but I would still go back for more. With 8 seats, and limited standing area... I would recommend going during off hours so you won't have to compete with the Amazonian herd (I snapped one of my amazonian friends having lunch at the window)! The best pho place in Downtown Seattle! This little gem hidden at the corner of 9th and westlake always guarantees a quick service, and most of all, a unique and fresh taste of whatever you order. The only caveat is that this local pho place does not have that much seating area inside, which means you either have to go before/after hectic lunch/dinner time, or have it to go. I usually grab it to go, but the way they pack their pho keeps it fresh and not sticky for awhile so I've never complained about this. They have general pho with the choice of meat pork, chicken, steak and brisket. I've tried all of them and personally, think brisket or steak goes the best with the broth. Their broth comes with jalapeños and lemon as default, which makes the broth a bit sweet but tangy (in a very fresh wat) and very interesting. It definitely does NOT make the entire soup spicy per se, but there def is some kick. You can always ask them to not put these in. One size, $10 for a bowl. Their spring rolls, are my favourite. They also come in similar choice of meat as pho, but personally, I think chicken is the best. It always comes marinated and goes really well with fresh mint, lettuce and vermicelli. Overpriced and not worth the consumption in my opinion. A coworker and I grabbed lunch here about a week ago thinking we could sit down and eat. When we arrived, we were surprised to see there wasn't any seating besides three counter stools that were already taken. We waited about ten minutes to order and when we finally did, the prices were different than posted. We wanted to order one large serving of spring rolls but were charged for two small orders. When asked, they said they changed the prices the previous day. Our bill for two orders of steak pho and two orders of chicken spring rolls came out to $22/person (including tip). We waited about ten minutes for our food at a window outside. When we got back to the office to eat, the spring rolls were great. In particular, the peanut sauce is what makes it worth it. As for the pho, the broth didn't have much flavor and my coworker said it tasted like they threw in "fall" flavors. Great spot to get your vietnamese food fix if you're in the area! We ordered the Brisket Pho and Combo Vermicelli, and both were so good that we regret not having enough time to try their banh mis too. The pho's beef was tender and the broth had dimensions of flavor. The fish sauce for the vermicelli was on point -- not too tart, sweet, or watery. The meats, pork and chicken, were a good portion size and nicely marinated that complimented the noodles and vegetables. There wasn't dine-in available at the time of our visit, but the Vinason location here is small and has a pick-up window towards the back that I feel like it was already meant to be a grab-and-go place anyway. Takeout packaging for the pho is brilliant because it comes in two containers: one for noodles and beef on the bottom with vegetables on the top, and the second for the broth itself. No sogginess here! Phone orders are not accepted because online orders preferred. This has been some of the better take out pho I've had. It's hard to pho and other soupy foods as takeout but they did it quite well. The noodles were about half way cooked so when I added the hot broth they cooked all the way. They also did not skimp on the portions with the take out variety which I find to be a problem. The broth filled the bowl and then there was about a quarter of the broth left. The meat was also high quality and tasted very good. The broth was very rich and flavorful. I usually visit Vinason at least once a week for lunch. The place is always busy and you may often find a long queue outside if you go during the peak hours. This place is good for a quick bite and take out. They also have limited seating available. The menu is great with multiple Vietnamese dishes like Pho, Bahn mi sandwiches , fried rice and spring rolls. You can substitute any of the meat options you want in these dishes. This place is good for vegetarians as well since they offer completely vegan pho (yes! including vegetarian broth). I usually go with either the Pho or the Bahn mi sandwiches. The food is always fresh and made to order. A must try if you are in the Cascade area and looking for good lunch spots. read more

Ordered to go, picked it up 5 min just ahead of when they said to(yet somehow already done and packaged)here were the takeaways: -Broth was cool(low temp) -Steak was fatty and wasn't cooked enough when added to cool broth -broth was too sweet Packaging is awesome, restaurant looks very clean and new, but apparently, the attention to detail is low. Get the pork banh mi, you won't be disappointed! The bread....crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. Everything inside the bread just tastes fresh. The pork is well-seasoned and the veggies have that nice snap when you bite into them. I decided to also try their pork vermicelli bowl, and it was delicious too! I've known about banh mi for years, but only after moving to Seattle did I try out other stuff. I love the lemongrass and cilantro, the hearty beef broth, the crisp cucumber and the spicy, sticky pork. Layers of flavor, some subtle and nuanced and others loud and bold, keep bringing me back time and time again. In authentic Seattle style, Vinason uses local and sustainable ingredients. The pork is from Carlton Farms, the chicken from Draper Valley, the shrimp are wild-caught Gulf shrimp, and the beef from Oregon. They've used their own family recipes to create a quick-service Vietnamese shop in the heart of Amazonia, with - of course - vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. There are spring rolls stuffed with vermicelli noodles, lettuce, mint, herbs, and chicken; beef broth pho with pho noodles, fresh basil, onions, cilantro, culantro, beansprouts, lime, jalapenos, and brisket. Or fried rice with cage free eggs, carrots, peas, pickled daikon and carrots, and cilantro. And then there are my favorites: vermicelli bowls and banh mi. I've had an extensive search to find good vegan/vegetarian pho and this is THE place! After catching a super bad cold in person at another Vietnamese place, my cravings for this cuisine became insatiable! Altho there are closer places to me, I went out on a limb and chose delivery from here based on their selection of fresh wraps. And i've been spending a fortune here ever since. Those wraps are INCREDIBLE! You can choose lemongrass or regular chicken, beef, tofu, pork, or shrimp. I don't know why more places don't offer this kind of variety, b/c I can make a meal on these alone. And they have some TASTY sauces to offer for those of us who can't do peanuts. I love their fish/chili sauce. It isn't the typical sugary, overly sweet and bland variety. They also send a soy sauce that I think has a nice bite of garlic (but that cd be the chili as well). Either way, these fresh spring rolls were a nice and super appreciated surprise. I'm sure the peanut sauce must be good too. I contacted Grubhub and a rep got in touch the restaurant that said the 16oz pho doesn't come with noodles... when I was ordering it said it did. Grubhub refunded my "pho" after I provided them the menu and a picture of my noodleless pho. It looks like another reviewer down below had the same problem. He then told me the meat quality of local raised, cage free, and grain feed chicken! It was great to know! I got the traditional pork bahn mi, which was pretty great! The mayo sauce was delicious. The flaky bread was perfect! It took me a while to head down there so I ate this little treat at my desk and everyone was wondering where i went and where to get the tastiest cheapest bahn mi ever!!! I ordered from here after trying Pho Bac. A couple things I wasn't too thrilled about: 1. The order had missing components, like onions for both of us and a lime for my partner. They told me they were out as they handed me the food, but I already paid and tipped, and I specifically order with onions. What am I supposed to say at that point when I'm given an incomplete order. 2. I ordered the vietnamese coffee for $5+ and the cup was literally half to 60% filled. I realize that might have been the portion size but it was weird to me that the picture in the menu didn't match what I received. I saw one of the workers preparing another coffee and it was literally 1/3 to 40% full, before adding ice in a regular plastic cup. I finished it in 5 sips. The menu picture and description needs to be more accurate. 3. The price was high for the quality received, cannot recommend even considering Seattle downtown tax. The broth itself and spices were solid, however, the meat was a really cheap selection imo as were the fresh noodles. 4. So much plastic waste, not a fan but that's just me it may not matter to others. 5. The area is tiny, it is meant for takeout, so I'm not penalizing the review for ambiance, please take the following with that consideration. The inside is okay. I had to set the table myself with utensils despite ordering with a spoon and chopsticks, they did not come out with chopsticks, and napkins for my partner.
