Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. First time waited 1 hr 45 minutes to get entrees. They said they were short a cook. Being in the hospitality business we totally understood, however they didn't really seem to care. Just an apology would have been enough to please us. Went tonight and to the moment we walked in the hostess did not make our night pleasurable as she said that we didn't have a reservation but showed her our open table reservations. Well another 2 hours of waiting for our meal. No apologies couldn't care less and had our entrees packed up. As I am a hospitality consultant shopper I would never go back. We had a wonderful birthday dinner at Vincente's, highlighted by table side Caesar salad and Bananas Foster preparation by Matty, one of the brothers. The food, drinks, and service were superb and made for a perfect celebration. The exterior of Vincente's does not do the inside justice. Inside, you experience a true traditional Italian restaurant, including a warm ambiance and large bar. This restaurant is very amenable to making everything possible gluten free. I have not had Veal Scallopini for many years and it was delectable. The steaks, crab cake, and special were all amazing, and only topped by the Caesar salad, Bananas Foster, and chocolate torte. We had such a great experience here celebrating a 70th birthday. The staff was fun and friendly, and the owner Dan, was amazing. He greets the customers and comes into the dining room to serve up tableside Caesar salads or bananas foster that he makes fresh right in front of you! It was one of the most unique experiences I have seen at a restaurant. One other unique thing they do is that if there is something you want that you don't see on the menu, the chef will come to your table and help create the perfect entree based on what you are looking for. On a recent visit, we ordered the rolled meat lasagna and the chicken Parmesan. Their tomato sauce was very sweet but otherwise lacked any flavor. Similarly, neither the lasagna nor the chicken had any seasoning. Application of salt and pepper provided a small amount of flavor, but overall was not worth ordering or sitting through. read more

Finally took the family to Vincente's to celebrate my wife's birthday. I was surprised for a 'fine dining' restaurant, they did have a nice kid's menu and some adult sides that can serve as a kid's menu item. We ordered the Caesar Salad, which is made for you tableside. The cheese tossing stunt was nice the first time, but the salad maker doesn't always hit. So be prepared to get hit by stray specks of cheese. Still, the best Caesar Salad I've ever had. My big complaint: I wish they were a little more transparent with pricing. The menus are a little old, prices have changed, and both my wife and I were charged extra for scallops. For example, I ordered a filet stuffed with scallop from their specials menu. Instead of a flat charge, it was essentially the filet (on the menu) with an add on charge for the scallop. I don't like asking for prices at a fine dining restaurant (maybe I should just stick with the cheap stuff) so some transparency on their part would be appreciated. We came here 25 years ago for dinner and got engaged. It would be fun to come back. We've been sitting here for 50 minutes. I ordered GF bread 25 minutes ago when my husband's salad and bread came out. Still nothing. My husband finished his salad and bread. I've had warm tap water, cold water and tepid water. The table next to us said "good luck getting your food" as they left. This is a true story of "you can't go home again". I can't rate the food because I've had none. I took my U Del student to dinner at Vincente's during Parents Weekend. I'm glad I did. This is an "old school" red sauce joint that does the classics, and does them well. We started with the table side Caesar salad. It was delivered with fanfare and a bit of panache. The lettuce was cool and crisp, and the dressing made a la minute. As soon as he cracked a fresh egg and separated the yolk out at our table, I knew we were in for a treat. One of the best Caesar salads I've had. The chef really loved the performance nature of tableside prep. While we were there, he made at least 4 tableside Caesar salads, two orders of tableside Bananas Foster, and one of Steak Au Poivre. All delivered with flair. I ordered my standard for places like this; Chicken Parm with linguine. My daughter had Penne Bolognese. Both were served with warm rolls and butter, and both were preceded by an amuse bouche consisting of a bite of flounder al limone with toasted bread crumbs, and a small piece of fresh garlic bread. My daughter, who is not a fish eater by any stretch of the imagination, loved the flounder. I did too. I''d order it for my entree next time. The Chicken Parm was perfect in every way. Exactly what I wanted and expected. The linguine was a bit less al dente than I would have preferred, but I didn't ask nor order it al dente, so that's on me. The Penne bolognese was wonderful; the pasta was cooked well, and the bolognese sauce was not diluted with cream or milk the way it often is. We had the house special pumpkin spice cheesecake and chocolate mousse for dessert. Both were spot on. $60 plus tip for more food than we could eat (a college kid LOVES leftovers), and fabulous taste. Recommended for a traditional Italian meal when in the Newark, Delaware area. read more

Unfortunately, this was very average if not teetering on bad Italian. I would say the best dish of the night was the complementary crusted flounder that they serve you in the beginning. The chicken piccata was swimming in butter, the Caesar salad had so much raw garlic in it that it was giving me indigestion haha, but I will say the pasta dishes were all right. Then again, you can't really screw up pasta. Nothing here tasted fresh. Everything seemed like it was either out of a bag or microwaved. I got a side of spinach, and it literally was chopped spinach you would get out of a frozen bag. Not sautéed spinach like I was expecting. Didn't even touch it. Even dessert; the waitress told me that there were only two that were semi homemade. The rest were all frozen/heated up desserts. Given that it's a family business, I hate to give them a low rating as I would always want to support family owned businesses. This is a spot where loyals will come since they've been coming for years. However, if you're new, you can get better Italian food elsewhere. I was told, this place used to be a little more fine dining back when they were located on Concord Pike, but when it was taken over by other family, they decided to make it a little more casual with the move. Again, I'm a first timer, so I don't have any fond memories to share on this post, potential bias that would curb the reality of the food I ate that night. All this to say; f you want pasta, this is a great place to go because the price is very affordable. I wouldn't stray further than that. I hope this is at least taken as constructive criticism. Service: When walking in we were not greeted, the host just stared at us. I thought she was a customer because she was on her phone and seated at the bar. Food: The food was mediocre, you can drive five minutes down the road and find a better Italian restaurant down either side of Kirkwood Highway. The red sauce was watery and very thin. I could not tell if the fettuccini was homemade but the penne my boyfriend ordered was not. This is the only Italian restaurant I've never had a take home container. The peanut butter bomb was good and would fill up two people. The chef making the Caesar salad dinner side looked like he was having a blast! I liked watching him throw cheese, but be ready for him to miss and get cheese on you. Ambiance: The restaurant looked cool. Red paint with chandeliers across the ceiling. They played oldies Sirius XM which was cool until they started doing radio interviews which you can't make out what they're saying. The dinner was candle lit which I loved! Weird place! They need to take out some of the salt they dump into the Cesar salad and add it to the pasta sauce. Also, as a heads-up to any halfway decent folk, there is an autographed photo of trump (fittingly) right next to the toilets. Avoid if you dislike presidents who frequented Epstein Island or bland pasta sauce. The Malbec was nice though. read more

You really have to order the table Cesar salad not just for the entertainment but because it is the best you will have ever eaten. The staff is busy but friendly and efficient. Honestly, I don't leave reviews ever. The hostess didn't even greet me when I walked in, she looked at me with a nasty face. My girlfriend and I got there at 8:40 (they close at 10 - mind you) I sat at the bar and the bartender (part owner) mumbled under his breath "wow late so late you're late" (as there was still a table in the dining room). Then 3 minutes after I sat down he asked what I wanted and I told him "2 espresso martinis please" he again mumbled under his breath "you better be quick" and I responded "we're just getting drinks, no food" he then said "you still better be quick, they're cleaning up" while you're trying to fix your POS system, you still have a table in your dining room, and don't close for another hour and 20 min! Just went to dinner for the first time at this restaurant. I love Italian food and a friend recommended this place. Service and food were good... until an incident happened with a guest that totally ruined our evening! A patron got out of control, the New Castle, Newark and State police were called. The guest was removed but by the time things settled down, my appetite was ruined. I would give this place another chance, but they didn't seem to care that our evening was ruined. They didn't even try to comp anything. I am sure this event was difficult for even the staff... but they could have taken control a bit better. read more

Dined here for the first time Saturday night. The table side Caesar salad and bananas foster were amazing! The crème brûlée was also amazing. Unfortunately the surf and turf wasn't the best. The steak was overcooked but they took it and recooked it to the correct temp. The new steak was cooked correctly but had zero seasoning. It was very bland. The crab cake was not really to my taste. The drinks were tasty although the martini glasses weren't filled as much as they should've been. I would definitely return for the salad and desserts. Would probably skip the rest. read more

I have been a customer at Vincente's since they were on Lincoln Street. Tonight, three of us met for dinner there to celebrate my birthday. While the guy was making my Caesar salad, I asked one of my friends how her brother was doing. She responded that he is a "gun-toting MAGA nut." The guy making my salad said, "He's my kind of guy." We thought he was kidding but he proceeded to argue with us, ending with "what has Biden ever done for this country?" I don't really care what his political views are -- but I did care that he inserted himself into a private conversation and then argued with us. My husband and I have been going to Vincentes for over 20 years. It's a warm environment with excellent food. I always order the same thing because I love it that much. I try but can't bring myself to order anything else but the filet Au Poivre and the Caesar Salad. I could eat it every day. Course, leaving room for the Galliano cake. I wonder if they'd sell me the whole cake...its that good. My husband loves the pasta and the veal and fights me for the piece of cake. read more

Italian food in Delaware is all around, finding good italian food is different. I used to go to Cafe Napoli, that food was whatever. Then started going to Cafe Valentina. Food wasn't that good. Now from this point on I'm going to Vincentes. Everyone was telling me to come here and I finally I did was well worth it. They started us off with a little side dish thing to begin the meal. It was fish, and a piece of bread with cheese wiz on top. I honestly didnt care to much for it. In my opinion I didnt think the little garlic bread and the cheese wiz went together. You may enjoy it but it's not for me. We then proceed to order I got the italian wedding soup, the ceaser salad everyone claims is amazing, and the Chicken Parm. While the person I was with got Ceaser Salad as well and the Gnocchi with pink sauce. The italian wedding soup was good, real tasty. It came with the usual ingredients like meatballs. But I also believe there was Chicken in there to. After that the famous ceaser salad was rolled out to our table. Reading the reviews and even on one of the menus. As well as the staff working there, everyone said to get the ceaser salad. When the cart rolled out the nice man started mixing the ingredients right there in front of us. He was telling the story of the ceaser salad and his father and the legacy that came with it. I could hear the passion in his voice and that's what I like to hear. He truly cared about making a great ceaser salad like his father once did. And yes the ceaser salad was one of the best I've had. It was really light and taste. I definitely recommend getting it. Main entrees came out most chicken parms I ever get the chicken is always tough. This chicken was cooked nice, it wasnt tough or anything of that sort. I got it with the Angel hair and it was good. The person I was with got the gnocchi, it was definitely fresh and it tasted great. The meatball they got was melting away in my mouth it was nice and juicy. After that we got the dessert, we decided to try the cannoli, and the chocolate mousse. We were told that for the mousse that the shell wouldn't be ready for another 10 minutes which is totally fine. That's a good thing it meant it was being made fresh and in house. The desserts were good, they also brought out a mini cake for a special occasion. Not my type of cake so it was forgettable but it's a nice gesture and I'm glad they did that. Overall it was fantastic meal. The waitress I had was Rachel. She was very polite and she filled my water endlessly so she was on top of her stuff. The ceaser salad was great, but for the amount it for me I wouldn't justify spending $9 dollars for the salad again unless I was splitting it. The experience is cool just food and price wise it's not $9 food value. My overall bill was $75 which was totally fine because the fresh food and good quality justify it. Another takeaway was the total time spent. I was there for a total of 2 hours, I did get the full experience which makes sense why it took so long. Most places usually try to get you in and out. Although It was good they took their time and made sure the food and quality was good. Although the restaurant was empty, it scares me how long the process took. On a typical busy I could only imagine how it is. I will have to find out when I come back because I definitely will. read more

The server was incredibly friendly, super attentive, and overall such a joy to chat with. I will say that the menu is quite large, so it help to just ask the server their favorites or tell them exactly what you're looking for and they'll help make a recommendation. I ordered the VEAL PICCATA CASINO with a side of VEGETABLES. It was great, and delicious. I shared with a colleague the BANANA FOSTER. I had honestly never had it until then, and I loved it! Vincentes might be the best Italian restaurant in the area. While the entrees are great, truly my family and I go for the the Caesar Salad. The salad is customized and made table side with fresh ingredients. It is so good that even if the entrees were subpar, I would continue to go just for the salad. Not only is the food delicious, but the service creates an extremely unique atmosphere that serves the customer first. My sister couldn't find something that she liked on the menu, so the chef came out to the table and helped her create her own meal based on her preferences, and it came out fantastic! We had a great dinner at "Vincente's" right on the Kirkwood Highway across from All Saints Cemetery. Classic Kirkwood Highway cultural experience. Conversation drowned out by delirious cheering for Phillies on the TV in the bar (they scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Reds 3-2, just 'cause). We're not talking creative haute cuisine, but it a solidly good CLASSY place from an old Wilmington family that had a place on Broom Street near St. Anthony's Little Italy for decades, and then moved out to the suburbs. The owner (son of the original Vincente) made a big theatrical production of preparing Caeser salad table side, which he learned from his father who did it for 40 years in Wilmington since right after returning from The War. It might been forgivable if the salad was mediocre. It was not; it was great. I did not know a relatively simple Caeser salad could be so delicious, with very fresh greens, sharp parm cheese, garlic, anchovies, mustard spices, and egg. Sorry if this sounds like gushing, but if everything else is mediocre, the caesar salad alone is worth the trip. But, everything else is NOT mediocre. The tirimasu was perfect. The coffee (reg and decaf) were rich. They make their own pasta and our seafood cannelloni (see attached) was adorned with the flag of Italy (See attached) with three sauces (tacky, schmaltzy, delicious, and right on brand). The hallway to the bathroom had Ol' Blue Eyes' mug shot (See attached), and a score of Stooges posters (connection???). We'll will definitely be back. read more

Out for drinks and dinner with several friends, bartender was so rude and talked to us as if we were of no significance and bothering him. Imagine my utter shock when leaving, we asked the very nice hostess to speak with the owner, and the rude and demeaning bartender was actually the owner. We heard the food was great and had planned a 5 couple dinner there, there's a lot of great restaurants to choose from, none of us will ever go back.
