My daughter-in-law and I ate here last night. A friend of mine told me about Vincente's so I couldn't wait to try it out. I love Veal Marsala and always order it when I go to an Italian restaurant. The complimentary appetizer was really good and a great start. As I was told, the Caesar salad was delicious and made at the table. Naturally I ordered Veal Marsala, which wasn't on the menu but available. I must say it was not to my expectations. I've never had it with peas in it, like a million peas too, which spoiled it for me. Instead of all those peas why not roasted garlic or any garlic at all? There was no garlic in it, which was surprising. I suggested my daughter-in-law get Veal Piccata, which she never had but enjoyed it. Wish I had gotten it but I wasn't feeling all that lemon. We decided to split dessert and ordered Cheese cake with bananas foster. It was delicious. I didn't mention our waitress, Rachael, who was just so so with no cheerful personality at all. I tipped her 18% which was more than she merited. I give 20% or more for excellent service because I was a waitress at one time. I came here with my boyfriend and we fell in love. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. But once you get inside you are transported to a classy old school mafia style italian restaurant that will wine and dine you. I've recommended this place to EVERYONE and everyone who goes, also falls in love. Nothing but great things to say about this place. I've had the chicken parm and the veal parm- both fabulous but the veal parm is much bigger. My friend took me to Vincente's for my belated birthday dinner last weekend. It was our first time. I am glad that I read reviews before walking in or I would have probably left after entering. You enter right into the bar. We were not greeted right away. The hostess walked up without looking at us or saying hello. She finally asked what name the reservation was under and sat us at a 2 top in the crowded small dining room. We were sitting right next to the bar and there was no wall separating the dining room from the bar. It was so loud and overstimulating. The bar was full. The server was very well educated on the menu and she had a trainee named Matt with her that was very pleasant. Matt was also very attentive. I ordered wine and it was ok. They brought over a piece of bread with flounder on it. I was afraid to try it as it did not look appetizing. We ordered the Cesear salad as alot of the reviews suggested. The dining room was so cramped that we could not even get the tableside Cesear that we paid for. The salad was very greasy. We ordered and I asked for spicy marinara and unfortunately, my friend got the spicy sauce instead of me. The lobster ravioli was not good and the sauce was even worse. It tased like a microwave meal. My friend also did not like her main entree. After stepping away to use the restroom, I noticed an entire other dining room that was away from the loud bar and no one was seated there. This baffled me! They chose to pack in the dining room next to the loud bar and cramp the customers just so they could see some guy throw cheese in a Cesear salad. No thank you! We will not be returning. Again, I want to mention that the server (never got her name) and the trainee Matt were great and attentive. Pass by and pick another Italian restaurant in the area. Vincente's is a fabulous restaurant. We have been there just a few times in the last couple of years due to the pandemic but it is always a great experience. The food is delicious and the staff is very accommodating. We took our grandson there for his 9 th birthday and he asked us if he could speak with the chef at the end of dinner. Our meals were also very good. Overall this place had a great vibe. My only recommendation would be to put a wall between the bar area and the dining area. I did not know what to expect, and I think I still don't know. This restaurant is odd, in the way that it hasn't been updated in decades, but has increased prices to a modern fine dining restaurant. The experience was almost bazar. The entrance is the bar- meaning that the hostess or maybe waitress was on a tablet on a table top. I was initially intreaged by the show going on, until I saw the salad/flambe guy attempting to set up for an act, in which he stated: we'll see what we can do, there isn't a lot of room here. The kitchen then sent out a platter that was smoking (the woman in front of us was caughing). Which was then set on fire, and the fire scattered on to the flambe tray, and the guy struggled to slap it out with his hand. After seated, there was a long wait for drinks- with the attempt to use a cheese/mayonnaise topped toast to satisfy us before bread (which came about 10 min after being told, the bread took until after eating salad). The food was ok. I got the Markowitz- steak was good, lobster was overcooked and firm, shrimp was the same, scallops and mushrooms were good, and the veal creation was an inedible mess. I would not order again. My girl liked her chicken parmesan. Overall, not worth the $116 we spent (before tip). The place pretends to be fine dining, but has a guy throwing parmesan all over the place. The restaurant reminded me of Kitchen Nightmares in a way. read more

My pasta was delicious however three people in my party ordered chicken and literally it Looked and tasted like a frozen chicken patty with some sauce and cheese. The stuffed flounder also did not look homemade it looked and tasted like it was frozen. We didn't bother getting dessert. I was very disappointed. Eggplant sauce tasted like chef boy r Dee . I came with my significant other to enjoy a nice dinner here for our first time tonight (08/31). They sat us quickly, despite me forgetting to reserve a table for dinner this evening. They also have a sign posted for being understaffed, which was a disclaimer that the kitchen could be slower than usual. However, I believe the staff did really well with the time management with our orders this evening. Maddy was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable on the menu items, and was able to recommend some wonderful meals! We shared the eggplant parm as an appetizer. I enjoyed the veal Marsala and my S/O enjoyed the veal la Roma, per her suggestion... which was equally as delicious. She also recommended some of the delicious cocktails! The espresso martini was wonderful with the crème brûlée! 5 stars, definitely recommend! Will be back for sure! read more

We visited this restaurant based on the reviews about the Caesar salad, and it did not disappoint! We had such a great experience, the hostess and server were amazing. We loved the bonus complimentary appetizer, It was a small piece of breaded flounder that was tender and crispy. It was paired with a slice of garlic toast that had beer cheese on top. Both tasted great. We then ordered the Caesar salad, which was AMAZING!!! The gentleman made the salad table side and provided a little history to go along with it. As we were first timers, the gentleman got the other people in the dining area to tell us and he also informed us we'd "never be the same" we laughed but it is so true.... the salad was fresh and tasted amazing. It even included house made croutons which were very good! The Chicken Parm with angel hair pasta and Potato Gnocchi both had fresh sauce and were amazing!!!!! Best Italian restaurant in Delaware. We came here close to 8pm without reservation and we didn't expect to be treated with a high level of service. When Tom came out with his Caesar salad presentation, we were blown away. We don't think we can have a Caesar salad as good as we had at this place. My son, who aspires to be a chef, ordered a medium rare Ribeye steak came out to almost perfection according to him. This is indeed a hidden gem in Delaware. If you go you must: - bring an appetite - get the walking menu (Vincent) - let him figure out what you want (you might not even know you want what you want!) - get a Caesar - get an appetizer (let him help you) - pick your main and get a side of pasta (or vice versa); the twice baked is perfection, or ask for Hay and Straw if you want pasta - my favorite - get the Cafe Diablo at least once The veal is the best I've had in the world - he's a master of this dish. Chop, scallopini, or otherwise - it's simply the most creative and delicious ways I've seen. Beef is also prepared great every time - his au poivre is the best. You can't go wrong with any of his ultra-fresh fish dishes. If you're in the mood for pasta, don't feel like you're settling. Or if you can't decide, tell him that and he'll make a combination that will rock your world. I've been going to Vincente's since I was 6 years old, and I'm 35 now. I have been through every incarnation from Lincoln St. to this latest at Kirkwood Highway. The location may change, but the experience does not. It's 5 stars every time. The Cesar salad was okay, nothing special and asked for anchovies and got nothing, way too much oil. My dinner sat under the lights and had a glazed look to it, scallops were rubbery as was the lobster, steak was marginal and way overpriced for what I got. Pasta was runny and over cooked, Alfredo was poorly done, maybe add some cheese to the flour sauce! Even dessert was a bust, the custard had separated and was over cooked, tried to tell them and got attitude. Our bill was $60 a head for poor quality food but the wine was good, would not make a return trip as there are too many good places. And stop with the throwing of the cheese when making a salad, clean the place up and improve quality in the kitchen. read more

Went to this establishment while on business with my company. We started with a very nice bottle of wine, when we ordered a 2nd we were told there wasn't anymore in stock. We asked to bring in our own wine and pay a corkage and were denied. We ordered something else. When we sat, no menus were given. Instead they brought out an "on the house appetizer". It was some sort of flounder with a piece of toast with beer cheese (looked liked cheese wiz in a circle). We weren't off to a good start. This wasn't appetizing at all. Table side Caesar was ok since we were then starving. The chef is an amazing salesman, but my 6oz filet was cooked like a hockey puck, the broccoli mush and the mushrooms from a can. He threw cheese across the room into the salad, missed three times and got cheese in my co workers wine. I'm fairly certain these reviews are paid for. read more

This place is amazing. To start off, everyone is given a complimentary hors doeuvre - a very nice touch. We each ordered the Cesar salad and a lasagna. The chef comes out to make the Cesar salad table-side. It was nice to be able to chat with him -- he's hilarious and a very personable guy. He also makes the Cesar salad old school style - like they used to make in Hollywood in the 1940's. First, as mentioned, he makes it table side. Second he adds all the classic ingredients you never see people add anymore: raw garlic, a raw egg, oil and vinegar, fresh parmesan, and other seasonings. It was the best Cesar salad I've ever had, and I would go back just for this. Next, our server brought out warm rolls and butter to have with our salad. After the salad we got our seafood lasagna and our meat lasagna. Both were delicious. The seafood lasagna was packed with shrimp and crab. It is not a fast food restaurant. A nice place to take someone on a date or to go for a special occasion, but a bit expensive. Our bill for 2 people was $150 plus a $30 tip. The best part about this restaurant is the enthusiasm of the chef, and their flexibility. One member of my party remarked "I wish I loved my job as much as he loves his!" He is very energetic and friendly. He brags about having the best caesar salad salad, and having won Reader's Choice award for steak. The caesar salad was good, but nothing special. The "table-side presentation" is entertaining. The steak was not great - too much pepper crust. The pasta was a bit too al dente. The pumpkin ravioli was VERY sweet - I like it, but another colleague did not. My gnocchi with meat sauce was nothing special - I've had much better. My colleague's fettuccini alfredo was bland. We appreciated that everything was "customizable", including changing sauces, or half portions, or basically anything you want adjusted, but the food was just fair. read more

By far the best Italian experience I have had in a long time. I went with a party of 15 women for my friend's 30th, and owner Dan did not disappoint. He waited on us and brought in his best waiter Russell so that we would have great service. It was fantastic. When one of the party goers wanted a particular wine and they were out the owner ran next door to get it. I found this gem online when searching for a place for my husbands birthday. I fell in love from the moment I walked in. The atmosphere is grand and everyone is excited as they love what they do. We really enjoyed the fact that the Executive Chef, Dan will come out and discuss other options that are not listed on their menu. Its called the Walking Menu. We ordered the Italian Flag. This was not listed on the menu. It was three different pastas in three different sauces. ABSOLUTELY DIVINE!!!!!!!!! We also order the Caesar Salad. It is not your typical Caesar Salad- it is 10x better. Dan, lives up to his father's tradition and interacts with each table- including throwing cheese balls into the bowl from 20 feet away! It is obvious that Dan takes this restaurant very seriously and it shows. According to my husband- this has been the best Italian Food and Caesar Salad ever (I can not disagree). I normally do not write reviews, but our experience was so remarkable, I felt compelled to write. We had reservations and were seated promptly and, after some waiting, were served the "house" hors d'oeuvre, a tasty piece of flounder a piece of garlic bread. After ordering a bottle of wine, we WAITED TWO HOURS for our meal, and ultimately left having never been served. The waiter was unknowledgeable and not especially friendly or helpful. The staff was accommodating enough to take the wine off our bill. The owner never came to our table to apologize. This was one of the most poorly run establishments I have had the misfortune to enter. We subsequently went to Caffé Gelato in Newark, where we had an excellent meal! read more

It is listed as $$$...which it is...but that's ok. We were greeted by a friendly employee that was anything but formal.. We were put in the back (alone) but who cares. I'm there for the food. The staff, while not entirely professional, were friendly and fun. She talked us into the "special" salad, which honestly was terrible, but watching the owner spin his tales and toss cheese in the air (I'm serious...!). The food was good and we'll be back.
