Stopped in on a busy Fridays night but we were seated immediately. The bar was busy and we chose to sit outdoors next to the cozy fire pit on a November evening. Ray, our waiter, tended to our every need and was spot on with everything. The food was amazing, ordered crabcake, sliders, and shrimp cocktail as appetizers, then the dayboat, scallops and linguine with clams as our main courses. Had a couple of Stellas and some espresso martinis-every espresso martini gets compared to this one, as they make the best around, including a roasted marshmallow, which really defines it.. I was super excited to come to this restaurant but left disappointed. The service was not up to par for a restaurant in this area. The waiter reached over the table to serve drinks and other items and was pretty awkward all together. The oysters we very good, but the waiter didnt even know the region they were from when asked. Steaks we also good but the sides were not. We ordered glazed carrots and potato puree. The carrots were hard as a brick and not cook enough as well as no glaze, well at least non that we saw or tasted. The potato puree had chunks of potato. We ordered dessert and that was very good. Easily one of the most impressive wine lists I've ever seen. Primarily focused on French, Italian and the U.S., they also have intriguing options from Argentina, Spain, and Lebanon. Honestly, there's something for everybody here, including the opportunity to taste and explore wines you've never had before. What I like about Bar Reverie is the multitude of options that they provide to guests. You can enjoy curated wine, tasting flights, enjoy 3 ounce pours or 6 ounce glasses, or splurge on a bottle. But the nice thing is that you multiple entry points to try wines from regions you've never enjoyed or always been curious about, as well as wines from your established favorites. For non-wine, drinkers, Bar Reverie offers plenty of options for cocktail lovers, as well as bourbon and whiskey drinkers. For lunch, we thoroughly enjoyed the Jambon Buerre, the Grilled Cheese, and the Tomato Bisque. All are absolutely perfect for a comforting meal to enjoy with your drink of choice. We came here on a Wednesday night and it was packed with people who came here for happy hour. We got the HH oysters, my husband got the HH burger, I got the halibut, and my friends got the chefs pasta which was a fettuccine, and also the crab cakes. We got a watercress salad to share. For dessert we got the chocolate mousse (which had hazelnut) as well as a lemon dessert. Of all the things we ordered I think the halibut tasted the best. I am a pretty hungry person in general so the portion size was not enough to make me full off of just the halibut. The watercress salad -- it was quite sweet. The watercress itself was very fresh and good. They also gave slices of their bread with butter which was good! The fries were really good. The atmosphere is lovely! Nice outside, bar and inside. We were offered stools to place our purses on! We ordered drinks and waited 20 minutes for them. We could see them on the counter with the dirty dishes but still waited. It wasn't too busy but service was slow all around. Waitress was not engaged at all. Never came back to fill waters, never checked on how our meal was. Asked for dinner menus she never returned with them. We got them by ourselves. I had the croque monsieur and it was mostly bread. Definitely needed more ham. Friends salad was ok. Fries were delicious and my little lettuce salad was tasty. Lovely place. Need to up the service and food for the price. read more

First, I would have emailed the manager of the restaurant directly, however there is no email listed for anyone to contact on the website. We visited Bar Reverie on Friday evening, July 3rd for a 6:15 reservation for 4 people. A French gentleman was our waiter and while friendly, was seemingly not very focused or organized. We ordered appetizers which arrived in a very disjointed cadence and were average at best. We ordered our entrees when we ordered our apps (bucatini, gnocchi, a filet, and a halibut). Some of the ingredients in the gnocchi dish were missing and when pressed, the waiter said it was a new menu and they must have gotten it wrong. The filet was overcooked and very chewy. The interval between apps and entrees was 50 minutes. Again, when we questioned the waiter about the delay, he said that the ticket did not get entered and thus the wait time. The last time we were at Reverie was the summer of 2025 and we thought the food was good and service satisfactory. The entire party was disappointed with the food and service and I write this so that the management can make the needed adjustments to provide a better experience in the future. Our bill was over $700 as we had ordered some very good wines for the celebratory dinner and left incredibly unsatisfied. One other item to note...the weather on the 3rd was stifling hot and as our evening progressed, the temperature of the restaurant became quite uncomfortable and served to put an exclamation point on a poor dining experience. Made reservations for dinner to try out the newest place in Greenville, which happens to reside right next door to its sister restaurant BBC Tavern & Grille. When we arrived it was crowded and very hot inside so I asked to be seated on the patio. The waitress came and poured water into our glasses but there was no ice - Just room temperature water? We decided to order a couple appetizers, the Lamb Lollipops and the Bougie Deviled Eggs. The lollipops came with a dipping sauce and they were very tasty and the deviled eggs were crunchy but good as well. For dinner we decided on the Cacio e Pepe and Seared Sesame Crusted Tuna. The Cacio e Pepe was more like Fettucini Alfredo with no peppery taste and the four added shrimp weren't fully cooked. The Tuna tasted okay but looked like it was frozen and then thawed. For dessert, I opted for an Aperol Spritz cocktail and it was very good. Overall, dinner was less than appealing and the apps were decent. The patio seating was nice, and service was good. However, I was surprised there was only a one person restroom for the size of the place and there was a line for the ladies room. I understand this place is new but the owners aren't new to the restaurant scene. We were just looking forward to this so much and we were disappointed. read more

I like this spot! I'm surprised I don't hear more people talking about it. Stopped in with a friend while using up some coupons I had to local businesses. We enjoyed lunch and some cocktails. It's really nice inside. Laid out well for its size + has a large outdoor area. We sat at the bar and were greeted right away. I enjoyed a margarita called the You're My Jam off the signature cocktail list - it was soo good. My friend had the You Make Miso Happy cocktail & that was super tasty also. For lunch I had the appetizer crab cake sliders. They were okay, a little dry so I added some cocktail sauce. My friend did a dine & wine special that included salad + 1/2 sandwich + a glass of house wine. I believe the 1/2 sandwich she had was a cheesesteak, it was really, really good. This is our second and last time to visit restaurant. The one redeeming feature of the visit was Chelsea, our server. She was nice, engaged, and attentive without being in our faces too much. Sadly, that is where it ended - when the food was served. The "chef" must have broken his timer for timing how long to cook the food. I had Florida Snapper and it came out with one side that was so overdone it could not be cut with a fork. My wife had some Lamb Lollipops that were both poor quality and very overdone. We expected smaller venue honestly and more of a panera set up. However to my surprised it was full service. We came here for date night and our whole romantic date night was rushed to 45 minutes. We sat down and within 5 minutes of sitting we were expected to order our drinks, apps and entrees. It was a bit overwhelming especially with no explanation ahead of time. We were sat directly under a heater that was so hot I had to throw my hair up and fan myself down even after asking if they could turn it down. I was feeling faint and had to step away because of the heat. The food came out fast... too fast. We were so hot from the heater and fed so quickly it took all the romance away from our date night. The salmon was way too fishy for me, but my fiance and I did enjoy the steak. The cheese board was pretty limited. The only other plus during our experience were the cocktails. The waitress was nice, but the way we were rushed out we decided to go get desert and cocktails elsewhere. Other than that I don't think we will be returning. read more

Bar Reverie is a great addition to the Greenville area!! The food, atmosphere, and service are unforgettable. I went for dinner last and my waitress, Carol, was kind, knowledgeable, and funny. The wine they suggested was delicious and added to my meal. The breakfast each morning has become one of my regular spots. The pastries are always such a treat and the baristas are attentive and thoughtful. They greet me by name and it is a great way to start my day. At top of all of that the green door and host stand are fun and the space is stunning overall. The black and white movies on the wall are such a nice way to add the atmosphere of the restaurant plus it's always a good movie. So so glad to see this place flourishing!! read more

Horrendous service. Came here with my wife, baby, and sister and waited at the front for a long time. No one was trying to seat us at all. This is a small place and the bar was occupied with other customers but the place was not busy. The nose ringed bar tender with the ponytail seemed to be purposefully ignoring us. This is a wonderful little gem in Greenville, DE. It is a French pastry cafe in the morning and a restaurant/wine bar in the evening. We stopped by for breakfast. The cappuccino was good, but the pastry is the star of this show. We tried a number of the different pastries. The croissant, ham and cheese croissant and pain au chocolat were phenomenal: light, flaky, buttery goodness. Actually every pastry we tried was amazing. I was there yesterday with my fiance and her parents and the experience was average. When we ordered drinks it took easily 10 minutes to come out and they werent overly complicated drinks to make which 2 of them were beers and the one was a beer with a can that the father was expected to pour for himself. When we were given bread waiting for our drinks the bread was burnt so it was hard to eat. The food was tasty so that was good for the entree portion. We stayed for dessert but probably not a good choice. I ordered cheesecake but was given lemon posset cake. Even made sure to state that when myself and the father ordered them. My fiance ordered tiramisu and said it was overkill with the baileys. Thankfully they took the lemon cake off when we told the waitress what happened. We had a delightful birthday dinner for my husband last night. We split the bougie deviled eggs and sweet corn soup for starters--mouth watering. The soup was so unique and summery. My husband had the NY strip and I had the scallops--both were prepared beautifully. We ended the meal with the lemon posset, which was very light and refreshing. To top it off, they had Jax Vineyards cab--we love Jax, but rarely find it on restaurant menus. What a surprise! Despite being very busy with a full house, the service and food was on point and quickly delivered. We had a fantastic experience with our server. The food was excellent and the wine was amazing! I went with girlfriends and we had a fantastic time. The ambiance is super chic and fun. Our waiter was so nice and knowledgeable and we even got small tables for our purses (love that touch). We all shared some apps and had wonderful entrees - the chicken was a crowd favorite. I made reservations for a party of 6 and we were seated at a table outside. Hostess was pleasant and sat us right away. The bar area inside looked festive, dimly lit for an intimate ambiance. I prefer the lighting outside and was glad to see the heating lamps. They were great until we were burning up. Rather than putting them on a lower setting they were turned off/on and the temperature was never quite comfortable through out our 2 hour dinner. Two members of our group ordered the Del Monico steak, one person was pleased while the other didn't like the texture or how it was cooked. Hard to say who gave the most accurate judgement. The two who ordered the filet were pleased with the temp and taste. The fish was ever so slightly overcooked but the sauce made up for it. By the time we were ready for dessert the waiter told us he would bring the menu over but they sold out of everything except for the donuts. It was only 9:30pm at this point so a heads up from the waiter about possibly putting in a dessert order before they had nothing left would have been nice. The restaurant cleared out pretty quickly, I assume most of their dinner reservations sat around the same time. Overall dinner was alright, I heard the brunch at this place was better. Maybe we'll try that next time. read more

A lot of wealthy people must live in Delaware now because a lot of very expensive restaurants have opened, and they seem to be doing quite well. Bar Reverie is one of them. The owner of one of our favorite restaurants, BBC, decided to go fancy and opened this restaurant. Since somebody was taking us out and treating us for our birthdays, we decided to try it here. The restaurant itself is beautiful. We were seated outside which I wasn't too happy about, but whatever. We shared the cauliflower appetizer which was delicious. Cauliflower can be tricky but they did a beautiful job. My husband ordered the hamburger which he loved and his father ordered the steak which he really enjoyed. I ordered the crab cakes and was very disappointed. There was a lot of filler, the mashed potatoes tasted like they were boxed, and the carrots tasted canned. I've been ordering the crab cake for years at BBC and it's always been delicious and substantial, so this was very surprising to me, especially since it was twice the price. My husband gave our server the feedback and he knocked the cost off our bill. Overall service was very good here as well. They have an extensive and very expensive wine list. Again it was nice we were being treated. Overall a nice experience. And they don't charge reservation deposits and obnoxious fees like some of these other pricy restaurants around here that we will avoid. We will add this restaurant to our special occasion list. For me to give this restaurant 4 or 5 stars these have to happen: improve the crab cake dish, lower your prices to be DE-centric, not NYC, and put some wine on your list in the $30-35 price point. read more

One of the worst service experiences ever! We went and had a late lunch at Bar Reverie, Greenville DE and were extremely disappointed in the service we received. We sat at the bar which is our normal spot when we dine out. With four other patrons at the bar, It took us at least fifteen minutes before we were addressed. We ask for our drinks and received them after he attended a woman who was complaining about the quality of her drink & food. Apparently it was a change of shift so we cashed out with the bartender that had brought us our drinks with a sizable tip ($20 bill on a $12.50 tab). Then waited a additional 20 minutes, before we had to flag down the new bartender to request our food. The food came promptly from the kitchen, but we had yet to receive silverware. After flagging down the new bartender and requesting silverware we ask for another beer. We never received the second beer. We called out to the original bartender to request our food bill and complained about the service we received from the second bartender. He said the guy was his best man and was a great guy. The 1st bartender wasn't great but the second bartender really sucked, he left the bar to chat up some woman at the door and ignored all the other customers. read more
