We had to fix our front yard, remove all vegetation, install moisture barrier, remove, re-arrange old pipes and water drainage, cover the sides of pathway with concrete and bring it to the level of the pathway. We met with 4 contractors and found Vindel's Construction to be the best. Berlin came to review the project and provided estimates within a day after contacting him. His professionalism, punctuation and technical knowledge are hard to find these days. He is very considerate person and kept us updated every step of the project. After we all agreed on the cost and day of the project, the execution of the project kicked off. His crew showed up at 7am and started working without taking any breaks. They are so hard-working guys and they know their work. After they replaced the pipes and re-arranged the water drainage, they tested the pipes, ensuring there was no water leaking and the water was flowing as designed. In addition, which was another testament of their understanding the client's needs and amazing work, was the fact they designed the concrete with lines that truly matched the lines of the existing slaps we have on the pathway. Absolutely amazing! They finished the entire project within 6 hours. Absolutely great experience and it was a great pleasure working with Berlin and his crew. Picture Perfect Preciseness with Polite Punctuality We needed to build several retaining walls on our backyard slope to prevent erosion, and thus, arranged interviews with different contractors for this job. My wife and I appreciated Vindel's straightforward approach and honesty from our first project meeting with him. His project price was good, but our projected start date would be dependent on him first completing other ongoing projects. We were elated when he called to say he was ready to start earlier than expected if we wanted. Upon agreement to start the following Monday, communications were always texted and/or phoned in advance for the following day. This included the time for delivering construction materials and equipment, start time for his crew, and specific goals and tasks for each day. From start to finish, the crew always arrived on time and stayed on track, this despite two San Diego weather oddities in one week: 1) September Rain when we had to postpone a day because of slippery slopes, and 2) September Heat with 100+ degrees when work stopped at lunchtime for the safety of the crew. Vindel's communications with us and his crew were specific, and he was here each day making necessary arrangements to still complete the project on-time. - I had a large area of my yard that was very unsightly, a mixture of dirt, decomposed granite and a large boulder the size of a minivan that was taking up vital space on the side of my garage. I tried the do it yourself routine and rented a 65lbs jack hammer and a 15 cubic-yard roll off dumpster , I worked all weekend, managed to filled the dumpster with minimal progress and not to mention a aching back and very sore muscles. I Called VINDEL'S CONSTRUCTION: he was very prompt and scheduled an appointment the very same day: "wow, talk about prompt service". Berlin showed up personally to estimate my job and he beat several other competitors by large margins; we covered every detail including the ones I was unaware of like where the material should be stored during the duration of work. We were able to agree upon every aspect of my project including dirt removal, ground leveling, backfill material, barrier protection down to the supply of electricity. We decided to have the hillside behind our San Diego house improved by adding retaining walls and steps that would allow us to go up and down a very steep hill, as well as provide some levels so we could do more with the landscape than we had in the past. We read the reviews about Berlin Vindel and decided to get an estimate from him. Not only was he reasonable, considering all of the work we wanted done, but he and his team were extremely hard working and friendly. Our job was finished in less than three weeks! We were impressed with the outcome and showed our friends and neighbors the before and after pictures. All were amazed. Berlin and his team were true professionals. Honest and concerned about providing exactly what we wanted. He built 6 retaining walls and approximately 41 steps that are not only practical, but also attractive. This effort required removing a couple of walls that we had installed and replacing them with sturdy walls that I believe will last for years to come. I have hired Berlin for many jobs throughout the years, and I have always been impressed with his work ethic and final product. He really goes the extra mile to make certain that the job is done right, and that I am happy with the results. He oversees all the major portions of the project personally, and his team seems very competent even when he is not around. I have never seen a worker slacking off, even when Berlin is not present. I have found Berlin's prices to be very fair. Once in awhile, he is not my cheapest option, but when I have gone with the cheaper contractor, I have found out that they have compromised quality, and often my vision for the project in order to give me the lowest bid. Berlin always delivers a quality product which reflects exactly what I asked for from the beginning. He is very honest, and I know now that when he gives me a price, it is the best value that I could ask for. I have had Berlin build 2 retaining walls and repair a 3rd. He has done numerous landscaping and paving projects around our property, and I have had him do interior and exterior painting as well. When I called to see if he was coming, all Berlin said is that I did not txt him my address (??). He eventually text me (no call) and said (And I quote): "Hi, You didn't text me your address. And because the holidays I don't have time anymore this week, perhaps next week. Thanks!" That is his excuse? That I did not text him the address? Berlin obviously did not care to follow up nor care that I made the time to be here. He did not want to do business. PERIOD Very umprofessinal. Do not hire this guy Berlin. He obviously cares only about making a buck instead of servicing his customers in a prompt and respectful manner. If I could give Berlin and his crew (whom he calls The Best in San Diego--and I agree) more than 5 stars, I would. From start to finish, Berlin and his crew's amazing attention to detail and commitment to doing high quality works shone throughout the large project we had for them. Berlin initially went over our plans with us, covering every detail, and asked us about aspects of the job we had not even thought about. He also had very good ideas (which we used!) about design and how to fix design problems. They started work every day at 7 and stayed until 4. Berlin Vindel's construction company has done such an outstanding job on our old home in La Mesa. It looks like a different lovely place. He and his team removed termite damaged beams, sealed some areas; power washed the house, garage, patio cover, window security guards, front & back fences; then primed & painted all. They dug out lots of bamboo, weeds, pruned massive shrubs hauling a large truck load to the dump. Then removed, replaced & painted 2 doors installing new hardware; trouble shooting a sliding glass door screen that now slides smooth; installed an out door light. I had a very good experience with Berlin Vindel. His quote was very competitive, and clearly broke out the different aspects of the project. I had to go out of town for about a week in the middle and he sent me daily updates with pictures. My back yard came out awesome with a combination of pavers, turf, multiple block retaining walls and a 50ft long concrete stairway. Berlin was on time for every meeting, he was honest and straight forward about everything and just generally very pleasant to work with.
