If we could give more then 5 stars, we would! We came across Vindel's Construction through YELP. This is how we hire most of the contractors and services we need. From the first time we met Berlin, the owner, we felt at ease with his expertise and professionalism. We needed to "shore up" a receding hill in our backyard to stop the erosion and make it a usable space. Berlin worked with us in designing a three-tier retaining wall that would also extend our current yard. His crew were masters in proper drainage, filling and building the walls. The price turned out to be very reasonable. We would highly, highly recommend everyone to look no further and use Berlin and his crew! Got an extremely short and non customer centered response only stating "I don't do this kind of work". I don't mind if they don't, but now if I'm looking to hire someone for a full landscaping project, this will be one company I definitely will not consider. Second response I've gotten like this for this same project from 2 different companies. Maybe its yelp that gives them an option to respond this way, but that shouldn't be an excuse. Berlin and his crew did an amazing job extending the concrete work of our new pool deck, pouring a slab for a new shed, and installing artificial grass. When drainage issues in our side yard were noted he was able to add a French drain (which has worked perfectly). He was always understanding and flexible when plans changed slightly and worked with me to perfect the design. I love how the side yard and front yard turned out. What I really appreciated about Berlin were his communion skills. He constantly updated me on what would be happening and what was happening as the days progressed. The project included removing and replacing an existing retaining wall, adding new tiered walls in our back yard, and creating a new patio area carved into our hillside. I created a Yelp account just to post this review because the job was so great. Amazing service from Berlin. He carefully went over every aspect of the project at all stages and was great at communicating their approach. His team was amazingly fast at getting the work done. We had a small retaining wall installed and a concrete deck poured, and the initial quote was for a wall that stepped down in segments. During the job, they were not happy with the look of the step-down approach, so they continued the wall at full height for the entire ~30ft length with no additional charge! It looks amazing and they went above-and-beyond to deliver, I would strongly recommend their team. read more

I was searching on Yelp for Landscape contractors and was very impressed with the reviews for Vindel's Construction. Berlin who is the owner is extremely professional and pleasant. He responded to my call immediately and came over the next day to give me an estimate. Once he got an idea of what I wanted done in my backyard, he took measurements and sent me the estimate later that day with sample pictures of what the pavers and retaining walls will look like. His price was very reasonable and so I hired him immediately. He made sure that everything we agreed upon was captured in the contract and revised it until I was fully satisfied. Berlin and his crew installed beautiful pavers in our backyard along with a retaining wall on the side. While working on the retaining wall they came across an issue due to my sprinkler system and the side door. He immediately called me and went the extra mile to fix the issue. They did an excellent job and I was very impressed. Now my backyard looks great and I can enjoy it throughout the year. Berlin even surprised me by working on the area in between the retaining wall and the side of the house which was not part of the contract. The area was not leveled and water from the sprinklers would stagnate in several areas which led to growth of grass and weeds. His crew paved the area, lined it with existing cement tiles and cleaned my drains. That speaks volumes about his work ethic and is an example of him going the extra mile for the customer. We wanted to move some dirt and put up a wall so that we could increase our usable land in our backyard. We also wanted to pave a section of our backyard as well. I called several contractors and Berlin Vindel was the quickest to respond. That is a good sign of being organized and on time. Berlin came out for an estimate and gave me a quote. They worked through the heat waves that heat San Diego (May 2014) which got up to the high 90s in my backyard without much shade. Throughout the project he called or text me to give me status. The hillside in our backyard was starting to erode causing us major problems. First, the flooring near our pool was starting to separate from the pool and it seemed like in only a matter of time, our pool would slide into our neighbor's yard. Also, in another section of our yard, our wooden retaining wall was was beginning to topple over which caused the flooring above to start to come undone. We called a number of companies to provide advice and estimates. None of these companies came up with viable suggestions and each of their plans seemed to be temporary fixes. Luckily, Berlin Vindel came to our rescue. He was honest, upfront, polite and professional. He provided us with a fair estimate and did amazing work. To support the pool, he had to remove a deck and build a retaining wall. He also filled in any gaps that were created from the separation. He replaced the wooden retaining wall and with block. Lastly, he repaired the stone block flooring that had started to separate. The finished look is wonderful - even better than I had hoped for! He painted, repaired, and reinforced the deck that had been damaged by water. Berlin is friendly and so easy to work with. He was patient with me when I requested changes to our original plan. His crew was efficient, professional, and completed all of this work quickly. Berlin kept me posted each day and was always easy to reach. I have already recommended him to my friends and I will certainly use him for any construction or painting needs. We couldn't be more pleased with Berlin and his crew!! They just finished creating two level areas on our very steep backyard hill- so 4 retaining walls total. Berlin is very professional, prompt (he gave a quote the day I called, for example, and the workdays started at 730 AM with Berlin at the site early too), knowledgeable, and considerate of the homeowner's property. He communicates the project details very well to the homeowner. This crew was very polite and friendly. It took a week and a half for them to complete my project- which consisted of a delivery of 16 pallets of blocks and gravel! They even came in on a Saturday one weekend (I told them that was okay). We could tell Berlin really knew what he was doing, when he came over to give us a free estimate, by the questions he asked and the suggestions he gave. We got rid of our grass lawn and replaced with concrete, and needed that concrete to blend in with the existing concrete. We also added a retaining wall and added lights. Berlin's team was reliable, and when he said they were going to be there, they were! Also, they were very neat about they way they went about their work, putting plastic tarp down as needed, and cleaning up when they left each day. I am so glad I went with Vindel's Construction for revamping my front yard as I'm absolutely thrilled with the outcome. The project was completed a few days ago within the time frame and price quoted by Berlin. His crew arrived promptly every morning and worked all day on my project until the job was completed. At the end of each day they left the property looking neat and clean by putting away all their tools/equipment and blowing away any dirt/debris. Berlin spent the better part of each day on my project and if I happened to contact him while he was away he'd always get back to me promptly. Berlin helped with the re-design of my front yard that involved the installation of artificial turf, decorative rock and wood chips. Backyard concrete walkway and patio extension was a small job, about 380 square feet, so many contractors are not interested. Berlin Vindel scoped the job Tuesday and completed the job Wednesday. Talk about turnaround. The brushed concrete finish is perfect. They cleaned up the work area and were finished by 3:30 PM. Berlin is very polite and his two workers were very professional.
