For a first crack at Vietnam cuisine I will say this is interesting & okay I didn't do a noodles or dumplings but I opted for what I selected & possibly you'll understand why. One place I wanted a delivery from which this recommended didn't so I reconned via another service & here's the results. I have been at this restaurant several times. The staff is friendly. I love their soups, wings, and egg rolls. This last visit I tried their claypot chicken. This dish was a major disappointment-the sauce was overpowering sweet, I wiped off the sauce and made a savory sauce--the sweet taste was still there. They should take a little more care and take a small sample before having customers eat the dish. read more

It's been many years since I've been here, this used to be my favorite Pho place. The owners have changed, used to be a whole family, now operated by just 2 young people. The pho soup is still very flavorful, I can taste the bone broth base, maybe lack just a little bit depth compared to the original. The "everything" combo has only 3 meat listed vs. 5 for typical authentic Pho, but the tripe showed up unannounced, a positive surprise to me. However, it still doesn't have my favorite, that's beef tendon. The main disappointment lies within the rice noodles, it's mushy & soggy, been in the soup too long. This could be easily avoided by leaving the cooked rice noodle out of water & only combine with pho soup upon serving. I came here for their drinks. I haven't been able to have any boba/tea drinks since I moved from Miami. The first drink I ordered which is my go-to is passion fruit tea with lychee jelly. I found this place through a recommendation from a nail salon in Agawam, so I had a good feeling it would be legit. I've been here twice while staying in Massachusetts since my family was craving Asian food. There isn't a lot of Asian food in Springfield, so this spot was a great find. I didn't try the pho myself, but my dad did and he really liked it. The rest of us ordered rice plates and they were flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. We also had Thai iced tea and Vietnamese coffee, and both drinks were excellent. The service was quick, the place was clean, and everything came out hot and well-prepared. Coming from San Francisco where good Vietnamese food is easy to find, I was genuinely impressed. Highly recommend if you're in the area and looking for quality Vietnamese food. read more

Made a pit stop for food and was conflicted between Vinh Chau and Pho Saigon (which are directly across the street from each other) upon arrival. After browsing the food pics and menu, we decided on Vinh Chau (mainly because I wanted hu tieu kho). I felt like there was a vast selection of food ranging from banh canh, hu tieu, and pho. Coming from New York, our viet selection is pretty limited so I get pretty excited when there's a more extensive menu. I opted for the hu tieu nam vang kho (dry) and it didn't disappoint. I usually like the kho because it comes with the soup on the side instead and additionally a sauce to make everything with. It came with shrimp, xa xiu (thinly sliced Roast pork), chicken liver/heart and quail egg. Wish they had a combination of the noodles instead of just the rice noodles, but still hit the spot nonetheless. They had banh khot that day as a special and although I didn't think it was really worth it there, it's still a lot cheaper than it was in NY. The hu tieu soup was also very good so dry or wet would go well depending on how you feel that day. I ordered a ca phe sua da too and it was verrrrry thick and strong, but delicious. A cup of that could get you wired for a few nights though. Service was great. They were attentive to detail and very organized! Overall, I recommend! read more

Once you figure out the entrance door you are greeted by a nice open small dining room with about 3 dozen seats and a pleasant smile from the waitstaff. Food was very good and on point although the fresh rolls were a little overstuffed with noodles. The wontons were a 10 and I was impressed with the pho garnish including a large sawleaf as well as the Thai basil the sawleaf is usually only found rarely as is rauram even though it wasn't included. The pho broth was a 10 as was the wonton soup which had a handful of fried shallots definitely a plus and very appreciated. I will definitely revisit again. read more

YUM! Then on to our clear rice noodle soup, with sliced pork (maybe liver), shrimp, delicious quail eggs (2), rice noodles, and the best pork broth ever. Wow, this is good stuff. I'm not here to slam any restaurant by no means but very disappointing and I was very disappointed. I am very surprised with all of the good reviews. I am not saying this is a bad place at all. I've only eaten there once which wa tonight 2.17.20 and it wasn't that great. I guess there is a reason the other pho place directly across the street was packed tonight and this one wasn't. I was planning on going to Pho Saigon which is right across the street from this place. When I arrived, Pho Saigon was packed and I was looking for a quiet night with a nice bowl of pho on this cold February night. So,I opted to come to this place for pho. The Pho Bo Vien was bland and barely had any taste or flavor. I waited for it cool down a little to try it again but unfortunately it was very bland. I ended up having to doctor it up with a lot of fish sauce added to the bowl of pho to kick it up a notch with some flavor. The fried egg rolls were different than I've had but these were good. So again. Not bad. Only here once. Only tried 2 items. The pho was b lm and and hardly had any taste to it. All of the different places I've been to for a while now are very good. When I have the pho which is most of the time it tastes great. No need to add anything to it. It just tastes great. Unfortunately this places pho falls short in the taste/flavor dept. There were two police officers who arrived seconds before I did and one other person eating there. Other than that the restaurant was empty. Was around the area and decided to stop in for bubble tea...what a mistake! Ordered 4 different drinks. They were all bad! First, you can taste the powder. Every sip I took, I could feel the powder all over my mouth and stuck in my throat. Second, it's been 10 mins and the other drink looks disgusting. After all the great reviews I was super excited to try this place. I would give it 1 star but the service was very good so no issues there. The sugarcane juice and Thai tea with boba were also great. But I mainly came for the pho which was very very bland. I had to drown it in sriracha and hoisin to get some sort of flavor. The noodles were also extremely over cooked so they kept breaking into little pieces every time I tried picking them up with chopsticks. The summer rolls were good but the peanut dipping sauce was very watered down. The fried spring rolls were good in flavor but did not come with the lettuce and mint that usually comes with them in order to wrap them up then dip into the dipping sauce. I was disappointed overall but I would come back to pick up a boba drink if I'm ever in the mood. read more

Food was very good! Tasty and authentic. Bf got the pho so I got to try a little of that dish. The broth was perfect - very flavorful but not overpowering and it worked well with everything else! I wanted something a little different though so I opted for the Banh Hoi ("steamed tiny rice noodle"). And it was delicious! Banh Hoi is a dish that's on the more difficult side to make, but they knocked it out of the park. I got mine with pork, shrimp and a meatball of sorts (don't exactly remember). The dish only came with a single shrimp and a single meatball, but the pork was great! Super flavorful and not dry. For anyone looking to try this dish out - you get some rice wrappers that come with it. These wrappers need to be "activated" so they'll also give you a bowl of hot water as well. Dip those wrappers in so you can use it to make yourself wraps/spring rolls. Additionally, soak the banh hoi into the fish sauce they give you. Then after, put the banh hoi, meat, and other goodies (lettuce, mint leaves, bean sprouts, etc.) in and wrap it up! Don't forget to dip your finished product into more fish sauce :) Overall - a great restaurant. It can get hot inside though. They have an A/C but the date I went, it was either broken or just not fully functional. They set out fans everywhere but the restaurant was hotter inside than outside. Service also isn't perfect - they had 2 people working the entire restaurant and it was pretty packed that night. Overall, good food at reasonable prices! read more

Definitely one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the area. The food is authentic and the portions are extremely generous, especially the amount of meat they give you in the pho! The broth is sweet and very clean, doesn't leave your mouth feeling like grease at all. This establishment was recommended to me by a fellow yelper (stand up and take a bow Don) who insisted that they would cure my away from home Pho cravings and I'm glad to say that he was right. It was a cold blustery day and I was craving something to warm me up. A co worker had suggested Vinh Chau as a great stop for some quality pho. I took his advice and ordered two different pho soup options. I ordered the number 5 and number 10. Both were delicious and warming. Packaged perfectly ready to take home I was pleasantly reminded with every spoonful how delicious the broth and the noodles are. It really picked up a dreary cold day and gave me a bit of get up and go. The broth was rich with flavor and the noodles combined with everything else was totally satisfying. 4 Stars! Since we've already eaten at Pho Saigon (3 stars) across the street, we decided to try Vinh Chau and it's even better than Pho Saigon. While the interior is more simple, the food is better. Both of us had a #7 (Pho Tai for $5.95) on a cold day and the broth was excellent and full of flavor. The noodles were cooked just right and were soft and chewy without being overcooked and too soft. The slices of steak were very good without much fat. I don't like a lot of fatty steak, but I know some people who do. The spring rolls (3 for $5.95) were very good too. They were lightly deep fried, so they were crunchy while keeping the inside ingredients flavors waiting to burst as you bite into them after dipping it into some fish sauce. There's a large flat screen TV and they were playing the NFL channel. The service was friendly and quick. Overall, an excellent experience. Xie Xie!! read more

I love Vinh Chau! They have amazing customer service and their food is out of this world. Where do I start? Their vegetable pho is so flavorful and I get the vegan broth so I can only imagine how awesome the chicken and beef broths are. The Spring rolls-divine! You can taste their freshness. I've had their tofu clay pot and I've also had their salmon clay pot. It's amazing. That sauce needs to be bottled and sold in stores. And the bubble teas.... The sour sop is my favorite. So good!!! I usually go across the street to Pho Saigon which is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the area but they were closed. So I saw that across the street and saw another Vietnamese restaurant so said why not. I wasn't disappointed. Friendly staff and the food is just about as good as Pho Saigon. I liked their Spring Rolls(I might be wrong... might've been egg rolls) they were nice and crunchy and the flavors were great. Their Pho is pretty good... I'd say almost as good as Pho if not equally as delicious. We ended the day with Boba Tea and at the end of it all I was satisfied. read more

Well...things are NOT what they used to be. The former owners prepared the tastiest and most generous portions of Vietnamese food I've ever had...and I've had a lot. I would drive 38 miles round trip for the food. Unlike many businesses, they didn't shrink their portions during Covid. How disappointing it was to walk in to a modernized restaurant with smaller portions and less tasty food. I'll not drive the distance again. Typical hole-in-the-wall restaurant with a nondescript exterior, but this place is my best bet for getting pho in the area. If you want the very best pho in the nearby region, I'd have to recommend Pho 99 in East Hartford (this seems to also be the overwhelming recommendation from all the Vietnamese locals I know in CT). The old signage they used to have above the door is now gone so the only indications to this restaurant are the neon sign in the window and lettering on the entrance door. The pho broth shines here with good strong star anise flavor and decent depth and complexity to the broth which is not too salty. I prefer Vin Chau for pho over the nicer looking Pho Saigon across the street. One of the things I love about the place is that they serve culantro (yes, that's not a typo and I don't mean CILANTRO) with the veggie plate for the pho (other accompaniments being the bean sprouts, 'Thai' basil, jalapeno, and lime wedges). Culantro is essentially a long broad leaf-like herb that is an amped up version of cilantro. Only minor complaint would be that they are a little skimpy on the meat/protein (though I guess you can't expect too much for an $8 bowl). The iced-coffee is also fairly good, though it could be a tad bit stronger. Preparation of the drink is done behind the small bar, so you don't get the little tin coffee contraption at your table to mix your own. Service is friendly and prompt despite the restaurant seeming to have a thriving take-out operation. The interior is sparsely decorated, but comfortable. The restaurant had a good mix of repeating locals and newbies the few times I've been there. read more

I was in here a month ago and forgot to finish my review. Vinh Chau is a family style restaurant. There is nothing fancy about it but it is clean, features good Vietnamese food and has an efficient attentive staff. It is located right at the X with plenty of nearby parking. I got the Pho special based on a past review and some spring rolls. Spring rolls were average and the Pho was better than average. They had lots of different sauces and spices on the table. I jacked up my Pho with some Sriracha sauce. It was perfect. The prices were very affordable. All in all this was a good experience. I am not sure its a full 5 star rating, for sure its a 4++. We've been here around 5 times now since moving to the area in June. We are kind of pho obsessed, so finding our local "go to" pho place is always our first major goal upon moving to a new area. This appears to have won it for the Springfield area. This is a "no frills" type restaurant. The inside isn't anything fancy, though it is clean, and the outside almost blends in with the surrounding stores as there is little signage. But I don't go to Vietnamese restaurants for the ambience, I go for a massive bowl full of soupy goodness. The service here is always pretty spot on. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff who always are on top of service. Never have any complaints in that department. The food is also quite good. We typically get egg rolls, spring rolls, and rare beef pho. The broth isn't the BEST I've ever had, but it is better than the restaurant across the street that uses way too much anise (I think that's what that flavor is). The appetizer prices are also way better here. The place across the street charges the same price for egg rolls, and you get one less. While I think the apps at both places are $1-$1.50 overpriced, they are still great. They have a great selection of boba drinks here, which is another major plus in my book. Overall I'd definitely recommend this place to get your pho fix, as it is the best in the area. read more

Located close to a very busy intersection, this little Vietnamese restaurant fills the outer streets with delicious aroma of their food. Service: very nice people, just kinda slow. Food: boyfriend and I ordered the fried egg rolls as appetizers, a super size #5 pho and regular # 6 pho with honeydew boba. The moment they brought the egg rolls out... you could see the disappointment in my face. It looks SO old and SO mushy. the once newly crispy fried egg rolls were probably left in a pile of other ready to go egg rolls.. under a warm light or something. The egg rolls tasted good, but ew... it was old. It was stale and not even warm. Was veryyyyyyyy disappointing. The pho was not too bad though! Actually tasted delicious and loved the noodles and broth taste. As for the boba, the boba balls were a 4/10 (still searching for some good boba in Springfield!!) but the smoothie was amazing. I have been eating here for five years now, well before I moved to this area. Early on under the old owners, I found the food to be well above average and would have rated them 4 Stars based on that fact alone. 2.5 years ago the restaurant was sold and naturally, I had some misgivings not knowing what to expect from the new owners. Here we are 2.5 years later and they are a 5 Star dining experience not only for food quality but for consistency and level of service. WOW. Just...wow. It's not lost on me that in the time that it would take me to pen a proper review for Vinh Chau, I could just about get myself back there for another bowl of heaven. I can't remember ever before sitting down to write a review and legit thinking "huh...maybe I'll skip this and just go back for more"... This was another case of a happy accident for us, as the nearby Vietnamese place we were trying to go was closed for the evening. The diners at the table beside us said that Vinh Chau has relatively new owners, and oh my god they are serving up some kick-ass soup! I'm going to go out on a limb and say that theirs was the best pho I've ever had. The broth was so rich and clean, the beef was perfect...nothing chewy or funky (apart from the tripe, but that just is what it is), plenty of tendon...the noodles were great...and the garnish was fresh. Also, the vast majority of the diners were Asian, and I always take that as a good sign. Ok, backing up...the place isn't anywhere near as divey as I expected; in fact, it was very clean and had a comfy, "family" feel. Nothing upscale about it, but we were instantly at home. The staff was super attentive and friendly, water glasses were filled as soon as they got about half empty, and the owner even came out to chat with us and other diners about his plans for special Vietnamese dishes on the weekends, how his tilapia is "red tilapia" from Vietnam, rather than farm-raised black tilapia (which is apparently what is typically found in the states)...and it was just clear that these people love food and love sharing it with others. The warm, friendly tone that they set carried throughout the dining room and I'm sure played a part in our overall terrific experience. We also had the fresh spring rolls, fried spring rolls, spicy lemongrass chicken soup, and a lemongrass chicken stir-fry. All were delicious. I've had lemongrass chicken soup at a number of places now and this was hands-down the best. Everything about it was amazing and deep, with spice but not too much heat, loads of lovely chicken...seriously, the kind of stuff cravings are made of. Ryan gave thumbs up on his stir fry and commented on the large portion size...normally, I would have had a couple of bites so I could tell you about it first hand, but I was way to obsessed with my soup nirvana to think of asking for a bite until it was too late and his plate was licked clean. Next time... And there will be A LOT of next times! I straight-up heart the heck out of this place and I cannot think of a single thing I would improve. 5 STARS! (oh...almost forgot to mention the fresh durian bubble tea.
