Very cute space! They have a great selection with a wide range of prices. They even have some specialty items (ice wine) and liquor (bourbon, whiskey, etc). The staff was incredibly nice and helpful! The space inside was perfect and it didn't feel crowded with others in the shop. We had an absolutely fantastic time at a wine tasting! Kayla was knowledgeable and friendly. She really made our experience wonderful! We each tasted 6 different wines ranging from whites to reds. It's a beautiful space to enjoy a glass of wine. They have a small bar inside, table seating and outdoor seating as well. They have a great variety of wines and hard liquor to purchase. I got introduced to this place through a Yelp Elite event. What a gem. Me and my sister both did the wine tasting, with 6 samples each. The bartender, I believe her name was Alexis was very friendly and knowledgeable and helped us go through the choices and her suggestions were spot on. We were looking for a little snack to go with our wine and ordered a charcuterie board to munch on. The other customers sitting around the bar were very friendly and open to chatting a little, but everyone kept their distance. My sister ended up taking home two bottles of the Moscato and of course, I got my Yelp swag bag which included a wine glass, corkscrew, a small bottle of white zinfandel, and a hand sanitizer. We were very impressed with Ryan, who when we told him we were from out of town, gave us several recommendations for local establishments. We greatly appreciated that kind of customer service. A surprising get-away that isn't overcrowded. We greatly enjoyed Trivia Night and will be back. Very small bar . . . but it is a place for wine, so the selection should be focused there, not on the cocktails, which I favor. One of my favorite parts of downtown living is little shops like these. Sure, I could run to Aldi and grab any $3 bottle of wine, but Vino is the kind of place that makes you remember why you love wine in the first place. The aesthetic is very clean and chic, reminding me of all the places I loved to go to wine tastings when I lived in California. There's a good variety of wines at a very reasonable price point. I really like this place because each time that I come, I find a new wine that I enjoy. The first time that I came, they had an old favorite, Saracco, so it was nice not to have to purchase a bottle just to enjoy 1-2 glasses of my favorite wine. The second time that I came, I found another wine, Umberto Fiore Moscato d'Asti. It had just the right amount of sweetness with a little fizz. The atmosphere is very intimate with low lights and relaxing music. I usually sit at the bar and the bartenders are usally very attentive. This is now my go-to spot for relaxing while having a glass of wine with a friend. I did look at their Wine Club, and I find it a bit expensive for what you get so I will stay with my current Wine Club Membership with Cooper's Hawk. However, I do appreciate that the staff are knowledgeable about wine. read more

I very much enjoy going to Vino 100 especially because the staff is so knowledgeable about the wines. I've been very impressed!! Sometimes there is not a whole lot in terms of options. The tasting menu is small. But always ask the person working because they often have other bottles opened up that can be purchased by the glass that isn't on the original menu. A friend of mine recently went to paint wine glasses so I'll definitely have to ask about that! They've never mentioned it or I didn't see it advertised in the times that I've already been there. They also have a monthly wine club - ask about it if interested. My last visit was for the wine class that Groupon has. Not the expensive one but the $25 class. It is a great deal for getting to try 6 wines. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. However, it isn't really $25. They make you pay extra "tax and gratuity" at the end of the class. I really do not like this and think it's a bad business move. They should just include it in the Groupon cost. No one likes "hidden charges" - NO ONE. I feel like they should know better. Just charge $30 or $35 for the Groupon if you must. They do have a cooler of beers in case a member of your party does not prefer wine. This is a good idea to keep more people happy! I'll still give 4 stars because my visits to Vino 100 I've enjoyed. But there is some room for improvement. read more

Our server was knowledgeable about the wine and even let us have some tastes of some other bottles before committing to a glass of each respective wine. What a gorgeous place tucked into a little corner off of Water Street. I stopped in last night not really knowing what to expect, and was greeted by a friendly hello from the gentleman behind the bar. They have a great selection of wines to buy by the bottle, but on this visit I just nestled up to the bar to sample some of their reds. The service was excellent. There were a few other patrons enjoying their wine & a couple of groups having tastings; even though there was only one fellow bartending, he managed to be helpful & attentive to everyone. He offered a wealth of knowledge about each wine I sampled, & even offered a couple of tasty recommendations. I also had a dark chocolate truffle flight - I highly recommend the blackberry espresso! There aren't many combinations better than good chocolate & red wine. It wasn't just a glass of wine (or 3), it was a wonderful experience. The fantastic service, friendly chat with the bartender, the yummy reds I sampled & the truffles- even the dirtbike championship on ESPN showing on the TV didn't detract from the ambiance. I had a fantastic time at Vino 100. I know they say wine is a lot about the experience as well as the grapes and this is so true. Stopped in here for wine on a Sat night and it was actually more busy than I've seen it. The main wine man behind the bar was super knowledgeable and willing to share. He helped us pick a bottle. My only regret was that I specifically wanted a Napa cab which I know I love, but I let him talk us into an Italian wine instead. Anyways, the concept here is amazing. It sells bottles of wine AT RETAIL PRICES and then let's you cork them and enjoy in their cute little tasting room (reminds me of Sonoma) for only a $5 corkage. What a deal! They also have beers, cocktails, wines by the glass, gifts, chocolate, and snacks (ie cheese) to buy. New favorite wine spot! read more

I've visted the Vino 100 in New Buffalo before so I knew the concept was 100 wines under $25. This location (not owned by the same people) also has an indoor bar area and a cute outdoor patio where you can sit and enjoy your wine. They normally charge a small corkage fee, but it was waived for the month of July. The staff person/server/bartender helped us picked out a delicious dry white wine for $14 out of their impressive and varied inventory and offered to drag bar stools outside for us if there weren't enough seats which I thought was going above and beyond. When in Milwaukee I would definately stop in for another bottle of wine to go or to enjoy on the patio. read more

Having an hour before a meeting at a nearby restaurant, we decided to stop in for a glass and see the place. Wow. We'll be coming back! The concept is great, a retail store where you can drink your purchase on site (with only a small corkage fee) or you can have a couple of glasses on your own. The selection there is pretty large. I'm guessing they have 200 or so different wines available by the bottle. Some of them I'd see elsewhere and some of them I hadn't, but they all are in a nice range of quality. Not the cheap-o varieties and not the "library" types. Just right. The "by the glass" list is probably 15-20 large and there is a nice variety available. They even make a cool little rating system of the taste to encourge you to try different wines. Well done. The prices on the bottles are good and the small corkage fee is lower than nearly all that I've seen. The by the glass pricing is average. They even do small glasses and flights if you ask. The staff is great. They are very knowlegable and you can talk about wines with them at any level. There were no selling attempts by them and they actually loved the feedback of the wines we were having. Overall, this is a great place and the staff is awesome. When I heard that my first bridal shower was a wine tasting, I thought it would be at my aunt's house among family and friends, an informal sort of thing. Lucky for me, she hosted my shower here. The day before the shower, it was revealed to me that we're going to a place with wine and wine tastings. I had no idea what to expect of a place called Vino 100. Being the guest of honor and a little late due to parking, I arrived to see my relatives sitting at a table surrounded by wine. Once we settled in, our server gave us an explanation of the riesling we tasted. The riesling stood out as one of the best I've had. My Aunt gave me a bottle to remember the shower along with having a first bottle of wine as husband and wife after the wedding. The wines presented were delicious and extremely affordable. My favorite riesling cost $10 while the other wines tasted were $15. After some kvetching and wine sipping, we enjoyed some food. Vino 100 lets you bring in your own catered or prepared food. My lovely Aunt prepared an amazing spread for the shower. Throughout our meal, the server came around and explained the remaining three wines-another white and two reds. The tasting gave you a chance to really experience the different notes of each wine. Each bottle or varietal stood out for its unique taste. At dessert, we drank wine and opened up shower gifts. The staff let us linger a little after all of our wine was consumed. In the end, my shower guests purchased some of the wine tasted in the evening. I highly recommend Vino 100 for a shower or a bachelorette gathering. I'll definitely go back for some affordable, well selected, edited wines. I walked in to some pretty snooty wine chatter, but stayed anyway. It was worth listening to a couple people snob it up to poke through the store. They get points for being in a convenient spot with a friendly staff, but I'd like to see a bit more variety in their offerings. They've a couple decent consumer recognizable offerings, but I'd guess a lot of hand selling must occur with many labels being smaller producers. They do have a pretty fun, and inexpensive, selection of wines by the glass, and a quiet ambience to enjoy within. Also, check out the bottle beer cooler. I didn't scope pricing, but they had a nice range of options. Glassware and serving apparatus are sold here as well, if you're in a pinch for something to pour into. Pricing is about average. Lastly, they've got a card rating system that has a meter (like a horizontal thermometer) that covers body and flavor. It is a little generalized, but it was a good approach that I don't think I've noticed elsewhere. read more

They offered free wine (2 Tickets per person) and cheese/bread. Some of the people I was with loved the wine they sold. The wine selection is great with reasonable pricing.The staff are very knowledgeable about the wine and great pairings. The space is small but intimate. On my way back in from a long Dells weekend, I met up with friends on a Sunday evening to throw back some vino. Good decision. Under new ownership, nothing has changed. Its still a great little spot to enjoy wine served by a guy who knew his wine. They seem to take care in making sure the menu is diverse and affordable. I was disappointed though, that the glass of wine I wanted was just sold out. :( i was happy though, that the bartender served us a couple of complimentary tastings of some delicious wines. I came here on a Sunday afternoon with my mom and it was dead! We were literally the only ones in the bar -- Maybe because it was a Packer day no one felt like being in a wine bar. However, I thought that the place was cute. It was decorated inside with local art and there are a ton of wines to try or purchase. In a city full of beer, finding wine is rare. This is not my favorite place that I have had wine in MKE but it does the trick (and it opens pretty early on Sundays). It is in the third ward but off the main strip, so not too much people watching but a quieter feel. I prefer something a little busier, but I am assuming that on a Friday or Saturday it would have a better buzz. read more

Extremely Disappointed... I purchased a Groupon for Vino Third Ward's Wine 101 class and the process for signing up was extremely unprofessional, lasting over a month. I spoke with the head of workshops, who directed me to signing up again on their website for an incorrect date that he would "later change" and contact me about. They took my card information after already purchasing the Groupon and never contacted me. I emailed them multiple times to confirm my class but never got a response. I called and got hung up on three times in a row after telling them what I was calling about... I ended up complaining to Groupon, since Vino wouldn't give me the time of day.
