This place was on our list of things to do while visiting Half Moon Bay. We finally made it over and had a seat. Great ambience, very cute place, great and friendly service. It was a lovely visit until we left. There were two of us. We both paid our tab with a credit card. One of us included the tip and the other just put some cash on the table. We get up to leave and are out the door and walking down the sidewalk when we are chased down by the gal that was serving us! She asked if she had offended us in someway because my friend only left $3 on the table. Unfortunately, she didn't bother to check the credit card sale to see that an 18% tip was included. It made us feel so horrible and ruined our entire experience. Tipping is not a requirement but she had been so friendly and pleasant I was happy to leave that tip and my friend was happy to add a couple extra bucks on top of it. read more

Wine bar is perfectly located in the downtown area. The wine flights and snacks are reasonably priced and all the employees we're very friendly and accommodating. They have set up a large outdoor area with seating to accommodate COVID-19 social distancing. I got the white flight, from a wine perspective I thought it was okay. The wine wasn't amazing but definitely enjoyed on a nice afternoon. The charcuterie and cheese platters were nicely put together. We contacted Vinoteca because I had seen advertisement for a sip and paint night which I always wanted to try. The owner was so accommodating and actually ended up coordinating a private painting event for our group of six local ladies. The wine was fantastic and the owner couldn't be more gracious. We had such a great time sipping and snacking while we painted. The decor is soothing and beautiful which made it feel extra special. I can't wait to go back again to try more of their great wines. Such a hidden gem!!! The owners are a lovely couple, who are super well traveled to collect the very best wines. They were so patient to explain to us the differences in all the wines we ordered, even though we weren't so familiar with wine tasting at all. The space is huge, bright, with comfortable seats. You'll miss this gem if you're not paying attention closely. Vinoteca is chic, modern, and yet cozy little wine tasting spot, tucked away in the corner of the plaza. When we first visited Vinoteca, the owner wasn't there but their sommelier was more than inviting and made us feel at home. Unlike the average-tasting room, there was a couch available for us to sit and enjoy our wine and cheese platter. There were 3 types of flights to enjoy and all three were awesome. 8 of us were spending some quality time in Half Moon Bay, and we strolled inside Vinoteca. Kim was very welcoming, helpful, and completely down to earth. I loved that she actually sat down with us to talk about the different flights of wine, and what she recommended. It was honestly like hanging out at a friend's house who just so happened to also have a plethora of delicious wine on hand. We ordered a cheese board and munched on popcorn, while we played Jenga and asked each other the deep questions available on a stack of cards (I think it was called Icebreaker) The seating was comfortable, wine and food were great, and the hospitality was truly wonderful. This tasting room is wonderful space and place for a group or a romantic date. I'm grateful that we walked in, and I look forward to returning. read more

A new wine bar just opened in January next to our favorite B&B, the Zaballa House, in HMB. Very nice and personable couple run the place, offering wines from here and abroad. Had nice happy hour specials by-the-glass, only $5-6. The flights are a bit higher, not sure how big the pours, but need to try next time. read more

***4.5 stars*** at the end of our group outing to half moon bay, most of the group wanted to head indoors since it was a bit chilly outside (the sun didn't really peak thru all day!) so where do we go? indoors to a wine tasting venue of course! one of my friends had found this place online and i called a few days in advance to check prices and they seemed reasonable. i called just as we were headed there (from the beach) and they were able to take our party of 4 immediately (many of the others decided to call it a day and head back home). upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and brought to a high top table and given menus. i was the dd (designated driver) so i just ordered a glass of sparkling white grape juice while my friends ordered various fights of red & white wines. we also ordered a fruit & cheese plate to share, and a serving of crackers was given to us to taste with the wine. although i didn't personally have any alcohol that day, my three friends really enjoyed their wine and food pairings. service was also attentive and excellent. since it wasn't very busy at 1600 on a saturday, it was fairly quiet, which allowed us to have a great conversation over wine and nibbles. the interior had a very warm and cozy feel which i really liked...great for groups of 4 or 6, maybe 8, but probably not much bigger than 8. also suitable for a party of 2...great date place! i'd definitely return and bring more friends here the next time i'm in half moon bay! read more

We stopped in for a wine tasting this past weekend and we were very impressed when, as she served us the wine, she told us a little back story on each one and gave us an idea of what to expect/taste for. VERY GOOD WINE SELECTION. And the owners seem very very knowledgeable. The tasting room is very neat and cozy. There are games in every table, like good games you would want to play with a small group of friends. I can't wait to go back to see what other wines they have chosen and just to chill. Larissa and team hosted my fiancée and my engagement celebration this February and absolutely knocked it out of the park. We reserved the space for nearly the full day and enjoyed every second thanks to their wonderful staff, beautiful setup, and excellent beer/wine selection. We were also allowed to bring our own food to serve as well, which helped keep the cost at bay. All things considered there's no better place to host your Half Moon Bay gathering than Vinoteca. Lovely wines! Ordered the suggested tasting and a few other unique varietals that I've never tasted. I loved the Mavro Ambelissimo. We sat in a cute courtyard but do watch out for bugs trying to taste the wine as well. Bugs aren't bad but we put napkins over our glasses since one did make it in the wine. Their premise is to find delicious wines that don't break the bank, and as someone who's always looking to save where you can, I love that premise. They offer a red or white flight or you can customize to what you want to try. We asked them to explain the wines and were able to describe not only the taste but where they came from and a bunch of other wine knowledge facts that were just fun to talk about. They also sell by the half glass, glass or bottle. They offer a cheese or cheese and charcuterie plate. We got the cheese and charcuterie plate to have with our flight and it did not disappoint.
