Today was good day. I've had the place bookmarked for a while but since i'm never really in Berkley or already eaten before hand; I end up driving by. I literally made a special trip out of here with my dad - since I was buying, he didn't care what place i drove to. My dad literally told me he would've never stopped here but he's glad i did - he could smell the food from the parking lot which was a good sign. The exterior was awesome - so many things to look at if you are a car fan and the fact it's designed like a mechanic shop is like putting a cherry on top. It's a little pricey (everything seems to be $10 and up); i'm glad it was only 2 of us - check out my bill as well. Not really sure if they have happy hour but i think they do; I think if i return then i'll definitely come during happy hour instead. Vinsetta Garage is the place to be if you are looking for a trendy place to eat. When you visit Vinsetta Garage you have to really be in the mood to dine here. From the moment you walk up to the restaurant it is booming with energy and loud music. I visited on a night that was warm enough to sit outside and wait, the outdoor waiting area was packed with customers waiting for their number to be called. When my party arrived we were told it would be close to a 30+ minute wait. We were given a buzzer and asked to wait for our buzzer to go off. We waited no more than 15 minutes and our buzzer went off. It was very surprising because it was so busy but we got sitting rather quickly. The inside of Vinsetta Garage is large. It is the perfect place for a vary of group sizes. The restaurant could easily accommodate a solo night out or a large group but you would most definitely wait a long time the larger the party. Our waitress was friendly and had a lot of great food recommendations. I ended up ordering the Vinsetta Garage and it was delicious. You definitely get a bang for your buck because the serving size is very large. I loved every bite of my food. The was even better as leftovers when I had it later that evening when I got home. I would highly recommend visiting Vinsetta Garage but make sure you are ready for a lively restaurant. read more

Visiting Royal Oak for a wedding and found this place on Yelp (obviously). We were NOT disappointed!!! Obviously the hardest part is deciding what to get. Burger pizza? Sounds awesome. Coney pizza? Sign me up. Build my own pasta bowl? Why not? I decided on the Yeti Dog and Mac and cheese. I subbed out the mayo for spicy mayo (because, duh). It was DELICIOUS. You get two hot dogs. When wrapped in bacon and loaded with toppings, it becomes a LOT of food. The Mac and cheese is made with penne pasta and is SUPER creamy. My biggest disappointment? I didn't have room for dessert. They had some amazing sounding options but I was too full to try any. If I'm ever in the area, I definitely want to return!!! read more

I remember living in the area thirty years ago when this was a real garage on Woodward Ave. interesting decor of avant guard seating from other eras and great food in a fun space. Compliments on the beer selections both draft and bottles. Super onion rings to split with the group. Wifey had the Mac N' Cheese and claims it's the best she's ever had and that's a big compliment from the queen of food safety. I had the 3am burger that was good, sloppy and seasoned nicely. Server staff were friendly, gently persuasive to get the girls onto menu topics so us men didn't have to wait forever. It was nicely done. Definitely a place to return too. I visited Vinsetta Garage on a Friday at 2 pm. The restaurant was very busy and we had to wait a half hour for a table. They have a great outdoor patio you can wait at and enjoy drinks at, but no food is served there. Service was a bit slow for our visit -- we probably had to wait 10 minutes to have a waitress visit our table. The food was very good. The 3 AM burger was cooked well, the fries were crispy, and the Union Mac was creamy and delicious. Overall, the food was very good. I have been here a few times and service is usually on the slower end, so if you're in a rush not an excellent choice. read more

We tasted both the Vinsetta Burger and the Macon Bacon Burger and they were both great! Sides included french fries and hand-dipped onion rings and each dish was a real treat! Possibly the best place to come for dinner if you're an auto enthusiast because the decor highlights the heart and soul of the auto shop that was once in operation here. On the walls you'll find all sorts of auto memorabilia, tools, and trinkets. Besides the great food, Vinsetta Garage offers a great selection of craft beer including a good number of local Michigan brews. We tried the "Rags to Riches" IPA from Arvon Brewing Company and it was our favorite of the night! In close second was a "Sour IPA" (unknown brewery). Overall this was a great experience and we highly recommend this place especially if you're a car enthusiast or a burger enthusiast. This is also a great place to bring friends and family as the atmosphere is nice, fun and friendly. This garage style restaurant gets a 5 star on comfort and and design attributes and a 2 stars on actual food quality and taste. So I summed it all up to a 3. I really wanted to love the food here but it was mediocre everytime i had went in which was a total of 3 or 4 times. I had a ceaser Salad, turkey burger? , salmon, pizza, tikka fries, and some drinks. The food was awfully disappointing and lacking in all aspects. The turkey had no flavor, the pizza was almost the saddest I've ever had, I didn't want anything to do with it after the first slice, just so bland and tasteless. The drinks were ok? The chips that come with the main burger weren't all that crispy and same goes for the Tikka Fries. I mean I understand you ladle in some hot Indian tikka and cheese but why are these fries so soggy and mushy ? No effort but into making them crispy at all and there's nothing sadder than soggy fries. Especially when I drive quite a ways to get to this place just to try them. The salad was good, typical caesar I guess. The salmon was still raw inside when I'd asked for well done, again, Welcome to No Flavor Town lol, so bland and tasteless. What I do like about this restaurant though is the atmosphere and the garage-style-hipster-homeyness feel it has to it, I really enjoyed the ambience here and the theme; the wait staff was very nice and well mannered. If I was to return here I think I know what not to order next time and to give how I want things done more emphasis rather than leave it up to them. read more

Have you ever sunk your teeth in a burger and it literally made the world stop? Order the Vinsetta Burger and you'll understand exactly what I'm talking about. Don't get snooty either and ask for medium rare. Tell them, "however the chef prefers" and they will hook you the "eff" up! Burgers aren't the only thing that's good here. There are the fries that's smothered in good stuff like the Disco Fries and the Tikka Fries. Yep,,, Tikka Fries dude. If you like chicken tikka masala, not to be mistaken for chicken "marsala", you will go completely bonkers for this one. Potato sticks smothered in Chicken tikka,, yea,, imagine that. There's a word for that dish... ummmmm... "Euphoria" Finish it off with their Faygo Ice Cream and watch yourself spontaneously combust. Just listen to this,,, Rock and Rye ice cream, then take pop rocks and generously apply on top. Yea... that's right,, spontaneous combustion. This was our first time here after reading Yelp reviews and keeping it on my Yelp Bookmarks list for longer than I should have. We met friends here for lunch today and having read many of the reviews, including some of the negative ones, I was prepared for trouble finding a parking spot and a long wait to get in. I arrived and parked almost in front of the door, and we were greeted and seated immediately! And things just got better from there. Having already looked at the pictures and also the online menu, I had a pretty good idea of what I would order: their namesake Vinsetta Burger with Onion Rings and a Tikka Fries appetizer to share. My wife ordered the Baby Kale Salad and our friends ordered the 3AM Burger with a side of Fries and the Noodle Burger with a Side Salad. Service was excellent throughout thanks to Amanda who answered any rookie questions we had and made sure to keep the drinks refilled. Now for the main event: the food! I'm not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said. Everything met or exceeded our expectations for quick service, great taste, and the portion size...let's not forget the portion size! And my order was enough food for me for the whole day because I normally finish everything on my plate (like my mommy taught me). But I suspect I'll be up for a snack later on... read more

Vinsetta Garage has been a go-to both before the pandemic and since. I haven't had anything on the menu yet that I haven't liked. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is really fun and auto-themed. Some food staples to highlight: 1) The Mac and Cheese. People rave about it for a reason. It's baked to perfection, and they give you A TON. Bring home the leftovers and you'll eat for another 1-2 meals (if you're me). 2) Any of the pizzas. I personally am partial to the Margherita, but any of them is sure to satisfy! Their crust is my favorite part - very foldable (I'm a pizza folder!), and the dough is obviously fresh. You can tell that the toppings seem really fresh as well. 3) The EV1 burger. If you're a vegetarian, this burger is for you! It's a house-made patty which is good in itself, but the combination of toppings is what makes it: shiitake "bacon" (AMAZING), goat cheese (!!), arugula, tomatoes, and a really tasty balsamic mayo. All on a pretzel bun! Can be made vegan if desired. I only tried this the last couple of times I've been to Vinsetta and now recommend it to everyone who I talk to about VG! They have also been great about carryout and curbside pickup during Covid, and you can order online. Gift certificates available too - great gift idea. And for the winter, they have a heated "Igloo" out front of the restaurant available for dining in! Overall, you can't go wrong at this place. read more

Great looking place with a really cool interior and vibe. But the food was somewhat underwhelming. Walking in it's a great old garage that has been renovated into a bar and restaurant. Pretty sizeable and was pretty busy when we arrived. Parking was pretty scarce. Ordered some fried cheese curds to start. These were hot crispy and incredibly soft interior. Delicious with a ranch dip. I ordered a duck burger for my main and the much lauded Mac and cheese for my side for an additional $2.95 over chips. The duck burger was under seasoned and I couldn't taste the cherry compote or any other toppings at all. I love eating duck but the burger was a bit more gamey than I've ever experienced eating duck. The Mac and cheese was also a bit under seasoned. But the top was super crispy. read more

My wife and I decided to dine here tonight, after having gone to Redcoat Tavern and left, due to their air conditioning being out, and it being 93° outside. When we entered Vinsetta Garage, the host sat a couple in front of us, then told us there would be about a 25 minute wait, but it could be as little as 10 minutes. We chose to wait in their lobby for 10 minutes or so to see if a table opened up. After informing the host of our decision, he told me that I had to wear a mask if I wanted to wait inside, or I could wait outside. At this point I informed him that due to a disability, I cannot wear a mask. He then read something off of an index card, and offered me a mask. Once again, I had to explain to him that due to my disability, I cannot wear a mask, nor can I wait outside in 93° heat. He then said he would get his manager. After he had a brief conversation with his manager, the manager approached me. I explained to him the situation, to which he gave me the option of either waiting outside, or in my car. Not only was his response rude and unacceptable, it also violated the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), as he discriminated against me due to my disability. I will never spend a penny in this establishment, and will be seeking legal counsel. read more

I really liked Vinsetta Garage when I visited this past Spring. The main reason I came here was for the Poutine aka Disco Fries. Let me just say they were delicious! I ate light because we were supposed to be doing dinner with another couple that day - so I only had the fries and a House Salad. My nieces ordered pizza and really liked it, but I do remember my one niece complained the pepperoni was spicy. Kids. Pfft! I thought this place was so cool though. The exterior was awesome! The interior was awesome! Shop towels for napkins? Yes! I love it! Our waitress was very helpful and super nice! The pizzas were served on cool screens. I don't know, growing up around cars as a child I guess I'm just a sucker for the Automotive decor/theme. It's pretty rad! I'd love to go back and have more than just fries and salad. This was a fun place to dine. I liked the waiting area with the penny floor that continued on into the restrooms. The menu's were cute and there were oil cloths to use as napkins. The food was good with generous portions. The pizza was very good. I loved the dough but I thought the sauce tasted too much like tomatoes or cheap spaghetti sauce but overall it was very good. The spinach salad was huge with roasted corn and grilled mushrooms. The onion rings were huge and very greasy but they had a thick tasty batter. I ordered the 'cheap ass red' wine that was listed in the Yugo (cheap car back in the '80's) section and found that the taste of the wine lived up to the name, I couldn't even finish 1/2 glass. This is one of my favorite places to eat, and I am ashamed it has taken me so long to write this review. To preface this review, I am a pescatarian and because of this, I have eaten many veggie burgers in my life. I was convinced that I hated black bean burgers until I finally went to Vinsetta Garage and my life was changed for the better and I discovered that a lot of restaurants just have really terrible veggie burgers. My epiphany came in the form of a juicy black bean burger stuffed with goat cheese, tomatoes, creamy garlic mayo, and shiitake mushrooms. This review is taking me a while to write because I'm debating visiting Vinsetta Garage right now and ordering this. The sidecars are also good. My go-to is the seasonal vegetable and quinoa dish, but the caesar salad is also really nice. The fries are inconsistent and have occasionally been soggy, which is unpleasant. I like their mac and cheese, but the noodles are often overcooked and aside from the nice baked topping, the dish is a little one-note. However, a lot of my friends love this mac and cheese, and the portion size, even for the side dish, is very generous and worth trying. Vinsetta Garage is a popular restaurant, so expect a wait. They have couches and benches you can relax in while you're waiting. Service is always prompt and very good. Anyways, the EV1 is THE BEST veggie burger I have ever eaten. If you're a vegetarian, order this. The different toppings add some pleasant texture (the mushrooms taste a little like bacon and add some much-desired crunchiness, the goat cheese is creamy and rich, and the arugula fools you into thinking you've made a healthy decision). Appetizer never arrived. Homemade chips were cold and rubbery. They are happy to upcharge you for a salad without telling you it's an additional $5. I have come here a couple of times. There are always a bunch of people when I come, for both lunch and dinner. The most recent time I came, I got there around 12:30PM on a Saturday and was seated immediately. Most tables were full though! To me, the whole place just feels cool. It's trendy and industrial, and has a very unique feeling. There is parking in the back! As for the food, I shared the vinsetta burger with a side of mac and cheese (we shared it, and we still had leftovers). We also got the disco fries, which were probably the star of our meal! I had high hopes going to Vinsetta Garage but they quickly went once we got there. This place is supposed to be known for its burgers, well it wont be forgotten for them either. The patties are only 4oz and they cook them the way THEY want not what you like. The Macon Bacon was utterly disgusting, the maple bacon was pre cooked and put on the burger cold, the Canadian bacon saw about 20 seconds of heat and was as thin as ham. The cheese was non existent and the sesame seed bun just fell apart as I went tried eat it. All cheap ingredients. The chips were greasy and tasteless. It gets much worse. My partner ordered chili dogs, the dog was barley warm but the chili was just a glutenous mess of tasteless "slops" and was worse than my burger. The fries had been cooked and reheated just horrid. Our server was really helpful and admitted they had had people complain about the food. It was a waste of money and time to drive the 30 mins to try this place. I don't know who owns it but they have some challenges at this place. We wont ever go back and I suggest you don't even go there. If you want to spend $21.00 or more on a burger go to Five Guys, even Wendy's do a better burger. I hope the mechanics at the garage did a better job on cars than these guys do on food. read more

Way over priced, slow service and completely mediocre food. The only redeeming quality is the fantastic ambiance and building that I've seen everyday since I was a kid. I got the loaded chips that wholly lacked flavor and were very soggy. For an entree I got the Vinsetta burger that was cooked to a good medium but the seasoning was lacking and the lettuce was brown and lacked a needed refreshing crunch. Even the tomatoes and onions seemed liked they were cut a few days ago. The rock n' rye milkshake was the only thing I was content with spending money on. read more
