I Bought a So Cal Roadster in February. I picked #49 of 50. Cameron was very helpful in explaining the proper use and care of the bike then helped load the bike in the back of my truck. I hope to get back down to Santa Clara before July to get another ebike before going to Whistler, BC for Crankworx 2024 at the end of July. I will be hanging out behind Tyndal Stone Lodge in the upper village. If you are at Whistler for Crankworx 2024 stop by and chat with me and see the So Cal #49 Roadster. .

    New Vintage Hendrix Roadster!

I just received my New Hendrix Roaster from Eddie and Cam! They really surpassed my expectations with the product they provided but also the great service. I was able to ride the new bike today and was amazing! Such a solid piece of equipment. Almost afraid to ride it in Racing Mode, but I'll work my way up to it. Thank you guys again!!

Very knowledgeable, cool, and super friendly . . . no weird attitudes, just a shop for riders - by riders. So far as I can tell, this is one of the only shops in the entire Bay Area that specifically caters to trail riders. They also support the trails and do ride events for the community. Plus the demo program . . . top quality, all the way around!! Thank you THC!!!

I've bought most of my protective gear, clothing, shoes, bike accessories, and tools from this shop…read moreover the years. I've always had a great experience shopping here, and the owner has always been very nice, welcoming, and helpful. I've always considered this one of the best mountain bike shops in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, my experience yesterday, 09/13/26, was very disappointing. I was shopping with my 6-year-old son. He is on the autism spectrum and has ADHD, so he can be hyperactive and sometimes loud. As his parent, I understand his behavior and always do my best to manage him. However, the sales manager, Scot, repeatedly kept checking on my son and saying "excuse me" to me in a way that came across as rude, annoyed, and unnecessary. I also noticed him giving my son a hard glare. That really bothered me. He is a 6-year-old child, and I don't think a child should be made to feel unwelcome or uncomfortable simply because he is energetic or behaves differently. What makes this especially disappointing is that I've been a loyal customer for years and have spent a lot of my hard-earned money at this shop. I've always supported this business because I genuinely enjoyed shopping here and had such positive experiences in the past. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. Everyone deserves to be treated with patience and respect, including children with special needs. If my son is not welcome in this store, then I will gladly take my hard-earned money somewhere else. It's unfortunate that one experience has changed the way I feel about a shop I previously had such a high opinion of.

We booked the bike about a week in advance for a full day for $65, and it was ready for pickup when we arrived. The staff did a safety inspection and let us know that helmets are included with the rental and that we could return the bike to any Sports Basement location. My friend also asked if they could leave their backpack there, and the staff kept it behind the desk, which was really nice. The bike was in good condition! We rode it for 4-5 hours with no issues. A few things I wanted to point out - the seat was pretty narrow and hard, which made it uncomfortable to sit on. It had been a while since I last biked, so I'm not sure if I just need to wear padded shorts or if the seat wasn't the right fit for me. Another thing is that I couldn't sit in the front because the seat was too tall for me to comfortably reach the pedals, and there didn't seem to be an easy way to adjust the height. Lastly, it would've been nice to have a phone mount on the handlebar for navigation. We turned in the bike at the end of the day. Overall, the process was very smooth, the staff were friendly, and the rental was affordable. I would do it again, but I'd wear padded shorts next time :)

Updated review, but same great experience at Sports Basement!…read more I went with my son to purchase a new bicycle and had a great experience. We went not completely sure which bike we wanted or the best fit. The staff working was very informative and spent a lot of time explaining options and tradeoffs. I appreciate they didn't just push us to the most expensive options. Rather, they took the time to understand his preferences and use for the bike and then made a few recommendations. They were very patient the entire time, letting him test ride multiple bikes until he found the perfect one. We had such a great experience that we went back to purchase a second bike later that evening!

ELV is hard to find due to their signage having a damaged cover, which I imagine is the 'ELV…read moreMotors', and it's just hanging off to the side. Luckily, Apple Maps was good or else I would have driven right past them. I parked at the rear where I saw a lot of large boxes of electric bikes on top and / or next to each other, out in the sun all day, I don't know. My son and I walked around to the front of the building. We entered and I started to look at their inventory but was not acknowledged. I've researched e-bikes, thankfully, so I knew what I was looking for. We approached the front counter and I said 'Hi, how are you?' to the Asian gentleman and he said 'Hi' back. I walked around their warehouse style showroom and was ignored the whole time. Most of the brands they carry were ones I saw on the internet: Engwe, Blix, and others. ELV also works on e-bikes too but you would need to walk to the back of the warehouse to find that out. I noticed some Velotrics that they had near their workshop. The Asian gentleman was near us and I asked to confirm if the white Velotric was a Fold 1 Plus and he confirmed. I saw a grey one and asked the same and he confirmed it also. The white Velotic looked great so I asked the Asian gentleman how much it was and he didn't know the price, I didn't see a price tag. He stated, 'Look on the internet it's the same price' in a slightly rude tone while looking at his phone seemingly bothered by our interaction. I was shocked at his tone and manner so I told him that I could look it up on my phone and he immediately put his phone away. The bike mechanic spoke up as he was eating, I didn't get his name, and he was helpful. We talked about e-bikes and I asked him about the Velotric. He stated that it wasn't ready to be tested but he could get it ready for me. I told him I couldn't because I was with my son. Truthfully, if the Asian gentleman wasn't so off putting and the Velotric was ready to go, I would have tested it then bought it. I think the Asian gentleman is the owner because I think the bike mechanic said it under his breath. I don't think I'm the first he's treated rudely and it seems like he's been there long enough to know not to have that kind of demeanor.
